Reviews for Hôtel Le Concorde Québec
Review 1:We did not like that we could not get in the lounge at 6hpm (no room) and we had to have our pre-meal drink at our table; there were no snacks to munch on with our drinks - no chips or nuts or small appys. We ended up ordering the cold cut platter to share - at $24 - and did not have other appetizer plates plate at dinner time. No money was saved there by the restaurant...
Review 2:We liked the quality of the food in Ciel restaurant, and the view from Ciel of course, the room comfort and view from our room, how welcoming the staff was, the perfect location of Le Concorde, the fairness of the price. Location, view and Ciel restaurant will be major reasons to return to this hotel. We shall return!
Review 3:Staff made very serious accusations to me and my girlfriend in front of many other customers, and did not in any way try to rectify the situation. Was an extremely poor performance on the concierges part. The hotel has extremely thin walls and has seemingly cut costs at every turn, does not have room service. Would not stay in this place again nor recommend it to any other customers, regardless of price.
Review 4:Had to pay the same price for a parking not next to the hotel. I just knew the extra fees at my check in. The guy at the lobby didnt give me my key room... I had to came back with my luggage and wait in the line up. It wasnt my best experience at all...
Review 5:The room felt tired, with an old bed and a chip in the bath tub enamel. It was also cold, perhaps because of fat lack of carpeting , and lack of a duvet on the bed. The receptionist who checked us in was less than helpful -although all our other contacts with the reception desk personnel were fine.
Review 6:Excellent location and nicely designed building. We also enjoyed the revolving restaurant.
Review 7:Speaking to the staff at the front desk always involved a long wait, even if there were no other people in line. Perhaps the hotel needs to have more staff on the front desk so that when one is occupied, guests can still be accommodated. In addition, the room was fairly cold, and there was no thermostat in the room so we were stuck with the cold temperature our whole stay
Review 8:Hotel did not have in room coffee available in the room. When we asked for some to brought up to the room they never brought it.
Review 9:The reservation from booking.com apparently was not received by the hotel. The hotel staff was very good at seeing we still received both rooms at the agreed cost.
Review 10:The first evening we were kept up not only by a very noisy group staying across the hall but also a loud banging noise that seemed to be coming from a pipe in the closet, the noise continued all through the night preventing my sister and I from sleeping. The following morning we informed the staff and the banging noise was not there for the following two nights of our stay.
Review 11:The view from our room was fantastic and the location was great. Staff were very friendly.
Review 12:Only thing that was missed was an indoor pool/hot tub. Also I thought parking was bit expensive.
Review 13:I loved the location and view from rooms. I also loved the cleanliness.
Review 14:If you need to do laundry it is expensive
Review 15:The hotel was very central and close to all amenities. The view was also breathtaking. We loved it here! Will definitely return
Review 16:Room appeard not to be renovated. Many stains on the carpet, peeling wallpaper, lots of dust, long black human hair in the bed and inside the pillowcases and I got a rash after using the washcloth - lasted 5 days! I suspect a detergent allergy - can't think what else would cause a washcloth to do that.
Review 17:Great view of the city from my large room
Review 18:We didn't like the fact that there was a connecting door to another room, which we were not informed about. The door was quite thin, so you were able to hear your neighbors and it felt a bit like sharing a room with strangers. When we tried to switch, the staff told us that "these rooms were very popular with families" and was not able to accommodate our request. It was also not possible to open your windows so there was no fresh air and the air conditioning was very old, noisy and dusty. Breakfast was not really an option.
Review 19:We especially liked the location and the very large and comfortable beds.
Review 20:The hotel stay was wonderful. The best part was interacting with your staff. At the front desk there was a young man named Francois. He took the time to point out directions at least two or three times each day. He suggested routes, restaurants and sights. He made our visit better than it would have been. As a side note , the free tour , which was conducted by Dave was fabulous (also recommended by Francois) If you could pass our comments on to his we would appreciate it.
Review 21:The carpets in the room (508) were abominable.Heavily stained and severely soiled, my wife would not walk barefoot on these.
Review 22:Great staff, very courteous and very helpful in every way. They really seem to care about our comfort.
Review 23:Room's curtains were covered in dust, like everything else in the room, keurig machine was so dirty there were dirt chunks inside my hot water (and no, it was not coffee grounds) bathroom had broken lights. Very sad.
Review 24:Staff was amazing!! And rang lush speaking too.
Review 25:We were not able to get a dinner reservation at a reasonable time at the Ciel (even though we were guests at the hotel)
Review 26:We liked the 22nd floor with an excellent view of the city.
Review 27:Internet was virtually unusable. If you are a business traveler and need to get things done, you can forget it here.
Review 28:Location is OK, near park and within walking distance to the old town. Not in the center of things by any means.
Review 29:The Pzaz pizza inspired restaurant were not warm to international travelers. They went out of their way to be rude. That is not Quebec and Le Concorde
Review 30:Staff and courteous manner
Review 31:I would have preferred a property closer to the Old City. But, the hotel is located close enough to restaurants, bars and pubs that it made up for the walk to see other things.
Review 32:The staff was helpful, even though most of my group spoke no French. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and the decor classy and attractive.
Review 33:Where to begin!! Firstly they messed up the booking I made... Told me I had 2 separate bookings and if I did not cancel one right away they would charge me. As I work in the industry I was quite certain I had only made 1 booking and had all information to prove it. The very rude woman at the desk kept in arguing with me ... Suffice to say after about 30 minutes of having to put up with terrible attitudes, they realized it was a mistake on their end and apologized. Still .... Fix your attitude... You are in customers service! Not a customs desk! Additionally some friends who were staying in s different room found a dirty tampon in the waste bin. My room want so fresh either. Overall the hotel is quite dated.
Review 34:The location was great!!! And the view from the revolving restaurant was nice.
Review 35:no wake-up call tho requested; only one glass tumbler in room; required $200.00 deposit even tho it was refunded
Review 36:lovely room and view; nice area of city
Review 37:The femal manager in the restaurant during breakfast time was just grumpy, impolite and annoying. She didn't notify us that the coupon for breakfast could also be used to order food from menu. And when I confirmed this with her, she was not patient at all.
Review 38:Nicolas at the front desk was very helpful and considerate. The location is very nice as well.
Review 39:When I arrived, the girl at the desk was not very happy, Moody (?). In the room you could hear the other people in the next room. (noisy) the view? unfortunately we had a condo apartment beside us so our curtains were close all the time.
Review 40:Well, location, access to hotel, restaurants, room was al right. The maids were very nice.
Review 41:I noticed that the grout in the bathroom was black in a lot of areas. Not very clean. Also the lighting was not very good in the room. Only a small light in the entrance and no central light in the room itself, only table lamps.
Review 42:The restaurant in the lobby was a nice place for a solo guest to eat. Did not feel uncomfortable.
Review 43:Housekeeping chose to ignore the do not disturb sign and woke us by banging on the door on two mornings.
Review 44:Great location close to the old town and some good bars and restaurants
Review 45:Our view was really nice but dbl glazed window was fogged up... Tub was dirty...door lock was very temperamental...WiFi...went in and out...second day couldn't get to work at all...waited forever for valet parking...was charged a $200 deposit...and when I asked for a wine bottle opener and 2 wine glasses they wanted another $20 deposit....most diappointed
Review 46:Not a lot
Review 47:Everything was perfect, but we found that the $24 fee for parking was a bit steep... specially when you stay at the hotel.
Review 48:Staff at reception very nice and rapid in checking us in. Had an issue with something broken in our room and maid on our floor was very quick to solve the issue in an utmost professional manner. We even received a note from the hotel manager to know if everything had been fixed to our satisfaction ! Never had to wait more than 30 seconds for an elevator
Review 49:Toilet in bathroom was stained inside of it... Could of been cleaned better Small tv for a big room #707
Review 50:Beds comfy Nice view and love the floor instead of carpet
Review 51:No room service or late night food, no minibar either. The bathroom was a bit old fashioned and could do with smartening up.The ground level bar and restaurant were really without charm.Never quite enough staff at reception so the ones on duty were clearly stressed.
Review 52:Wonderful rooftop revolving restaurant with views for miles in all directions. Good food and big rooms. Comfortable bed and (so rare) a good sofa.
Review 53:We got a renovated room which was nice, but the renovation seemed a little shabby. Washroom was still not very nice.
Review 54:Location was very close to the city wall, and right on the Grand Allee.
Review 55:Noisy hotel as it caters to conventions and bus tours. Breakfast was not included. Certainly did not have the charm of the hotels in old town.
Review 56:Modern convention, tour bus hotel. Beds were comfortable, room fairly large. Was fine for 1 night.
Review 57:Didn't love the room condition. It needs updating and a good cleaning. We even found a man's swimsuit/shorts under our bed when we arrived. The cleaning staff did a poor job as far as I was concerned.
Review 58:Loved the location.
Review 59:They charged me a random bill for The restaurant, i didn't sign this Bill and It wasn't even under my name but they didn't want to not get paid so they charged it to my account
Review 60:Way over priced, bookin.com quoted $120 and we were charged $180, will not be using this company again. Hotel told us it happens all the time
Review 61:Comfortable rooms.
Review 62:There was nothing we did not like
Review 63:We loved the very spacious superior Queen room, instant wifi and lovely view to the harbour. Enjoyed dinner at ciel revolving restaurant was a highlight
Review 64:I was confused about my billing and instead of bringing clarity to my bill in a friendly manner the staff got defensive. I wasn't even made...just confused.
Review 65:Location was perfect!
Review 66:Car parking was a little remote due to full valet parking The guyi at the reception made the impression that he preferred guests paying the full price and he missed to give me the vouchers for the breakfast for which I had to wait next morning about 15 min after I was told to get them by the restaurant personnel We got a super price with breakfast included
Review 67:Turning restaurant at the top with a super view Location close to downtown and a huge park
Review 68:Not until checkout were we told there was a difference in the weekend price, that Sat. night was higher. Don't know if that is the fault of the hotel or booking.com Our room also didn't get cleaned until very late in the afternoon and we had to wait for them to finish in order to use the room after being on our feet all day.
Review 69:Loved the location and for the most part a lovely place to stay.
Review 70:We have no complaints; everything was to our liking.
Review 71:We enjoyed the friendliness of the staff, the appearance of the property and definitely, the location.
Review 72:The living room carpet was falling apart and the wallpaper was pealing .the bedroom was ok and also the bathroom. If I had known I would not have gotten a suite.
Review 73:The view from our window - spectacular. We were on the 24th floor, facing SW, walked in at sunset - wonderful. The room was very clean, large and comfortable. Great mattress & pillows. I never book in a large hotel, preferring smaller, intimate settings but this last minute choice was perfect. As in other rooms we've stayed in for under $200, this one could use a little updating. The bathroom was small and the only outlet was over the toilet, making shaving a bit cramped in the mornings. Overall, we were happy with our stay and would return.
Review 74:The pool was only open on the weekend, which really sucked, as I chose the hotel based on the pool. The only reason it wasn't open is that there was no staff there... Also the gym material was all very old and broken.
Review 75:Great view, awesome restaurant at the top. Room was great.
Review 76:I had a corner junior suite and it felt like an old apartment badly needing renovations. The bathroom was nice but had mildew on the tiles.
Review 77:Location is great, right on Grande-Allée where you have all the restaurants. Breakfast is very good and the view is great.
Review 78:I didn't care for the lobby or restaurants, but that doesn't make much difference in the hotel experience.
Review 79:Liked the location and the room size. Also, comfortable beds.
Review 80:Thankyou for asking. The rooftop restaurant: we are still telling any one who will listen just how bad it was. we had a seafood plate,it tasted horrible. we also had a steak dinner, so tough it was difficult to swallow, the bread however was delicious and we ate it all. Then came the dessert,Strawberry and rasberry pie with ice cream,That was disgusting, you should be taken down the road to that wall ,tied up to that wall and flogged and that was how bad your dessert was.In conclusion however I'll say along with the bread the waiter was great , Thankyou, Joe Deveaux
Review 81:All but that Restaurant at the top
Review 82:I was dismissed by staff when I was asking a question at the front desk about check-in. I had requested early check-in online but the staff member told me to come back later without checking or asking for my reservation number to see if we were granted early check-in. She also seemed to be disgruntled because I was speaking in English.
Review 83:It was in a great and convenient location. The view from the room was phenomenal.
Review 84:the expensive parking fee, the lack of ventilation in the bathroom, no breakfastincluded.
Review 85:The view (25th floor), the site (old Quebec), the comfort of the bed
Review 86:The hotel is little bit old and the washroom is small and old even junior suite room. I herd too much sound from next door. I was with my parents. So wired...
Review 87:Not bad.
Review 88:If you are parking a vehicle, do not miss parking in their adjacent underground parkade. Almost every spot is a poor one. It is a seriously tight and extraordinary parking experience, especially when the lot is almost full. This is not a complaint, it is a laugh. My only quibble is over their gym, cable equipment broken and too many missing dumbbells.
Review 89:How can you not love a building that is described in Wikipedia as "brutalist architecture"? Easy to spot this high-rise during your Old Quebec touring, it is an excellent hotel in first rate condition with professional staff.
Review 90:Alarm was set at 3:00am the first night and we had to call the front desk due to party upstairs and 3:34am second night had people fighting in hall and knocking on doors. Staff said police were called. As I received only half of the sleep I would expect to pay half of the bill! Please make that adjustment as the hotel offered to but said they could not because I booked through you!
Review 91:Hotel team was good and the rooms were clean. Location is a little older and could use some updates.
Review 92:I received no wifi password and therefore could not use wifi. The hotel clerk at check out was kind of rude. I just wanted to understand the deposit issue better. Being charged/preamp proved 200 extra upfront was odd to me coming from Ontario. I could see where some renovation could be nice to add to this property. The pool was closed. It was only open on the weekends in September and we were there Wednesday and Thursday. I was really looking forward to the pool and it was very warm those days.
Review 93:The view was spectacular. The hotel itself is beautiful. The location close to all those cafes and bars was awesome. Kudos to the bellman who were awesome as well.
Review 94:The first room was dingy and had a bad smell. The carpets were full of stains and the bedding had seen better days, old and worn.
Review 95:What started out as a nightmare for a room the management put us in a refurbished suite which was a big improvement. The sink and toilet needed some tlc ( drain plunger in wrong and toilet flange possibly broken)
Review 96:Room updated. Bathroom could use retiling in the shower. Wish we could have had a view of the city.
Review 97:Location was great. Language not a problem. Staff really helpful. Beautiful lobby. Great meal at restaurant at the top.
Review 98:The hotel lobby & restaurants are a facade to give false impressionof the hotel. The hotel rooms are extremely rundown. It's like theyadvertise something on their website and what you get are carpets thatare scattered with marks and furniture that's coming apart. Thejunior suite that we had booked was leaking from the roof. They thenshifted us to the superior suite. The new suite was just as rundown thatone would cringe walking barefoot on the carpet! When we complained wewere told they are currently renovating the hotel. I will be reachingout to my credit card company to dispute against this hotel.
Review 99:The view from the revolving restaurant was very nice & therestaurant prices were reasonable enough. Location was fairly decent, about 15mins walk from the old Quebec where all the action is. Sincethis was a pet friendly hotel with fair pricing we chose to stay here.
Review 100:Holes in carpet. Stains on carpet. Holes in blanket. Stains on duvet cover. Poor wifi. Hotel can be great but looks like it needs a renovation urgently.
Review 101:The WiFi was absolutely abysmal, with very slow connection times and extremely limited connectivity. Even though my husband and I were in Quebec for vacation, we still needed to be able to remain connected with work, which was very difficult at this hotel. The carpet in our room was filthy, with an enormous stain (easily 3" x 2") in front of one of the beds. Needless to say, we didn't go without shoes or sandals in our room.
Review 102:The location couldn't have been better: across the street from the Plains of Abraham park and only a 7-minute walk to Old Quebec. The restaurant in the hotel, JaJa Pizz, was delightful, with lovely pizzas that hit the spot after a long day of traveling.
Review 103:Couldthe dowstair not get into the Sky lounge and the downstair bar had no Chardonais wine...strage for such a big hotel that they would run out...no fan in the bathroom..need some upgrade
Review 104:Great location beautiful view
Review 105:We stayed on a Friday night of laborday. Given that this hotel is located right next to the main party street in Quebec City, it got really loud at 4AM when the party continued in the hotel. Thankfully we called front desk and they took care of it quickly.
Review 106:Great value for money if you want to see old Quebec
Review 107:I had a bad experience regarding reservation. I extended my stay for one night during the stay by calling reservation on phone. Next morning when I went to counter for confirmation I got surprise of no reservation. I was told to come back street 8 AM. I went again in the evening same day and front desk person told me toy have no reservation. That was very annoying. I told him to arrange a room for me anyway as I had made my plans already but I got no good response. I requested to talk to manager but manager never come out . Finally he give ne room on managers approval. He also stated to me during the talk you are not going to be homeless without this room. I am not happy about this event. This was happened on the evening of Sep 1st.
Review 108:Wifi was poor and the bath surround was moldy. I had to park in a different building to the hotel even though it had valet parking
Review 109:It was in a great location to old Quebec and there was ample restaurants and shops
Review 110:A $200.00 hold against my credit card is excessive It will take almost a week to release those funds. My card was already charged for the room. The $200.00 was over and above that. I would not stay here again.
Review 111:Staff not at all friendly. Lousy wifi in the room. Weeds growing on our balcony. A very impersonal place to stay.
Review 112:The location by the park was good and easy access both to the old town and to the local community areas which were good value and more genuine than the touristy restaurants close by. Good view from our room and the bar on the revolving restaurant excellent.
Review 113:Our initial room had a large wet and dirty stain that had been hidden under two chairs. We had to report it multiple times throughout the day to get attention and there was no communication. They finally told us when we were on our way to dinner they couldn't clean it but they would move us. Also, the air conditioner worked poorly and that never got fixed. We were happier with the new room so in the end it was fine but a frustrating first day! In addition we couldn't park at the hotel as it was full and had to use a carpark 5 min away. They had no system for a waiting list so we had to keep asking and if we missed the window we missed it for the day. We were only able to park there our last night which was at least helpful for packing up.
Review 114:The location is fantastic!
Review 115:Long check in lines. Member checking me in was not very friendly. Facilities are getting a little run down. Parking was two blocks away and very expensive.
Review 116:Convenient location, relative to the attractions.
Review 117:When we arrived, there was no valet so we need to park temporaly our car, then go inside to ask the front desk where we can park and then go park our car. Once done, our room wasnt ready as expected (3:30 pm). Once we get in the room, the sheets has hole in it plus we found some hair in the bed. the wifi was pretty bad too.
Review 118:The staff was nice and very polite with us
Review 119:Worn carpet on stairway to washrooms. Broken mirror in elevator. Large towels not provided on last day of our stay. Noticed just after having a shower. Carpet was wet when we first arrived.
Review 120:Location
Review 121:White lightning in the corridors give the impression that it is a 2 stars hotel.
Review 122:Very nice location, 5 minutes walk from Old Quebec. Parking lot 2 streets further @ 18$ CAD or in the hotel with valet for 28$ CAD FOR 24 hours.
Review 123:Restaurant breakfast downstairs was a little overpriced, but we had worse for more $$ in the old town.
Review 124:Loved the location and room. Restaurant at the top was awesome. (make a reservation. We didn't but they still accommodated).
Review 125:Expensive parking (24 dollars per night) No breakfast included No personal welcome at the desk (big factory)
Review 126:Nice room, nice view. Close enough to downtown. Near a huge park
Review 127:Room very tired . Room was not carefully cleaned. Le Concorde needs renovations badly. It does not reflect the beautiful city of Quebec.
Review 128:Staff very helpful.
Review 129:17th Floor Room had stained, old, musty carpeting, and worn, soiled upholstery fabric on furniture. Astonishing really. Black grouting on bathroom tiles too. .
Review 130:Location is fabulous. Room view was fabulous. Staff were excellent. Bed was very comfortable. Gardens in park like setting provide respite from the crowds on the street.
Review 131:I booked 2 rooms in the hotel Le Concorde on 22 August 2015. When we came, we were told that there was a problem with their on-line booking system then 2 rooms we booked were not available. As an alternative, the hotel staff propose us 2 rooms at a motel 6 km far away from the hotel with the same price. We have no choice to accept their solution because it was already late in the evening and we had no plan B for hotels. Be aware of their bad business practices.
Review 132:Long waits at desk. No one at concierge desk. WiFi problematic.
Review 133:Room was good. Minor problem with phone and a/c taken care of promptly. Great location!
Review 134:The hotel is outdated, stuck in the 70s. The sheets on the bed are stained and with holes. I do not mind an outdated hotel, but the carpets and beds full of stains is something that bothers me.
Review 135:Great location. Close to the old city, plenty of restaurants around.
Review 136:The air conditioning unit was not on a thermostat and did not keep the room at a constant temperature. Wish the rooms had queen beds.
Review 137:We liked the location of the hotel and the revolving restaurant. Staff was very friendly and helpful when recommending restaurants near by!
Review 138:We booked a king room with city view, when we got there, we were told we didn't book a king, the hotel, said booking. com changed our reservations? I specifically said to Booking. com what I wanted, very unhappy. First time I used your service We were given a room with the dirtiest carpet I've ever stayed in
