Reviews for Hotel Jungfrau
Review 1:Wood window in the shower.
Review 2:Great location in town. 5 min walk to the waterfall or gondola. Good room with a view of the waterfall. Friendly staff. Onsite parking.
Review 3:It was perfect.
Review 4:The view from our hotel room was of the Lauterbrunnen waterfall that we were able to see until they turned off the spotlight after 11pm. It was breathtaking. They had a lovely restaurant, there, as well. The staff was extremely accommodating in helping us out with information about local attractions.
Review 5:We had hamburgers for dinner and they tasted terrible and rubbery
Review 6:Excellent Location, comfortable bed, fantastic breakfast included, and the friendliest most helpful staff
Review 7:Location of hotel is great - had a wonderful view of the waterfall. Staff warm and very helpful . Room spacious. This is an older hotel but is in excellent condition ; very comfortable, clean and up to date
Review 8:Nothing.
Review 9:Super friendly staff. Great location. Really enjoyed the breakfast every morning. We had two rooms connected to each other and it was plenty of space for a family of four.
Review 10:Oops...i put everythin in the above box
Review 11:We loved the location and the gal who worked the breakfast was excellent and very nice. The room tho was extremely noisy. There was a group staying there at the same time and we had a LOT of trouble sleeping because they were partying and the walls and flooring are paper thin - we heard everything we had to complain to the staff one night after trying to endure the npise , particularly in the room above us, till 1 in the morning. The staff addressed it promptly but a half hour later it started again. Best maybe to stay on the top floor if you dont want to hear every step, every movent.
Review 12:I would just get a room on of the higher levels. Our room was on the first floor, and even though the room itself was great with an awesome walk out patio to see the waterfall and Swiss Alps, the people above us were very loud and I could hear them walking back and forth.
Review 13:We loved absolutely everything about staying here. The views, location, staff, and food was perfect! Especially the staff and restaurant, don't go anywhere else!
Review 14:nothing!
Review 15:All staff was very helpful and friendly, providing us with a detailed information in helping us plan us trip to Jungfrau, with a kitchen supply guest with western and Chinese food, great! the breakfast is supplied with many options as well.
Review 16:The employee who checked us in was rather unfriendly, which is extremely rare in Switzerland. All other employees were very sweet and accomodating.
Review 17:Excellent location with an incredible view toward the waterfall. Rooms were clean and comfortable Great price
Review 18:Staff were so helpful and friendly, location was great and the food choices were excellent. Room was clean and comfortable and it was luxury to have a bath.
Review 19:No lift so climbed 3 flights of stairs every time we went to the room. Asked 2 days in a row for extra pillows and never got them. Oddly we entered the room through the bathroom which was small anyway. We saw other rooms which were fabulous. Hotel caters to Chinese visitors so all rooms were booked.
Review 20:Excellent location in Lauterbrunnen with private parking at hotel. Staff very friendly.
Review 21:It is located in a quiet place surrounded by greening and beautiful mountains, just about 10-minute walk from the train station. The staff were extremely hospitable and helpful and the breakfast was nice. The room was fantastic with gorgeous views.
Review 22:Cold rooms and told heat wouldn't be turned on until 8 pm. Food mediocre and overpriced. One overworked young girl doing everything, boss had no customer contact.
Review 23:Liked location. Clean rooms.
Review 24:Room (suit) and its bathroom.
Review 25:The food in the restaurant was great. Staff was wonderful, breakfast was good. Rooms (suit) was not bad but we expected it to be better that what we got.
Review 26:The walk from atation to the hotel is up the hill and with a stroller and couple of bags is too much to walk. The way back was simpler due to downhill.
Review 27:the floor on the room was wooden which is nice and elegant, but a bit noisy. there was only one shower for a 4 people room
Review 28:the view from the balcony, the staff was kind and efficient, very swiss style
Review 29:The staff were really lovely and this is a decent value hotel from which to explore the Jungfrau region, the station is around 500 metres walk away but it's not a tough walk. The food is nice (a mix of Swiss and Chinese while the breakfast is a good continental offering). The WiFi is very good but who goes to a place with such a beautiful view to sit on the internet!
Review 30:Old faucets, sink,shower head
Review 31:Comfort of the bed and the excellent breakfast also the view and being able to park there for the day after we checked out
Review 32:Can't understand the room was so warm with the window partly opened that we did not need any blanket, even the light one, and needed to fan ourselves.
Review 33:FYI, there are no plates, pans, forks, etc in the kitchen. If you want to cook in your apartment, you will need to bring your own pans! It was not a problem for us; we were out hiking all day anyway.
Review 34:The view is amazing! We could see the falls from our window. The room was clean, comfortable, well appointed and roomy. The breakfast was delicious. Checking in was easy and we parked on site with no problems.
Review 35:Excellent host, very warm and welcoming. Couldn't make breakfast in the morning so they prepared us a lunch pack. Dinner was delicious, room was well equipped with excellent views of the valley.
Review 36:we got a small room with a strange toilet setup (you open the door and enter the toilet directly, pass via the toilet to enter the living room). The sound isolation is very bad. you can hear people talking in the corridor. the breakfast quality is cheap. cheese and ham only have 1 choice and taste bad. egg cold.
Review 37:the location is actually good to visit Schilthorn or jungfrau.
Review 38:The lady that we assume owns the hotel was very friendly, easy to talk to and very helpful (despite the fact that we speak only English). We felt very comfortable, had a super tasty breakfast each morning and really enjoyed the view from our balcony.
Review 39:There is no elevator. Sometimes it is difficult to find the personnel of the hotel, because they are "multi-task" employees and can be everywhere in the hotel. Expensive.
Review 40:Location is good. Wifi is really excellent. And we could see the main waterfall in Lauterbrunnen directly from our room.
Review 41:Very limited staff. This was one of the expensive hotels I booked for my trip in Swiss and certainly expected more. Bath tub is very small and you can't even stand properly. Adjusting water temperature is a big challenge as it's either too hot or too cold. Limited staff. It was just one lady doing everything. I went in afternoon at 2 pm and was asked to come back at 4 pm for check in as she was busy serving customers in restaurant. When I came back She was working even at 10 pm in restaurant. Food in restaurant was good.
Review 42:Not too far from station, not too close as well. Food in restaurant is good.
Review 43:The hotel was a bit dated and the staff in service was not enough. We have to wait for the hot water and hot tea or coffee for quite a while since there was only one waitress in the morning who had to work as a check out clerk at the same time as well.
Review 44:right under the fall. Sleep with the stream happily running down under the window. View from the room was fabulous.
Review 45:The staff was great - food excellent. Andie, one staff member, was exceptional: friendly, helpful, caring. Followed up with us when my nephew lost his wallet and our luggage didn't arrive. She should get a raise - she's a great asset to your team!
Review 46:Upkeep was a bit lacking. The light in our bathroom was not working when we arrived, but they fixed it. In our son's bathroom next door it took 2 days to get the only light repaired (over a weekend).
Review 47:Friendly staff, great view of the Jungfrau and upper Lauterbrunnen Valley. Rooms small but adequate. Lots of storage space. Very nice indoor pool on the upper level.
Review 48:It is very very hot in summers. No facility of a fan. No Lift. Bad toilets. No breakfast for early starters. The hotel proprietor is rude, does not care much for guest comforts. Before a question is asked, she has ready negative answer. In my opinion, the worst hotel in Switzerland. Lastly this hotel is not close to the train station.
Review 49:There is not much to say about this hotel.
Review 50:Our host was extremely kind and helpful. Location was excellent, 5 min walk from train station to go Jungfrau or Schilthorn, Interlaken has 10-15 min drive. Car parking is adequate. View from our room was magnificient.
Review 51:1. The bathroom too small. 2.no kettle for tea ,no tea bags. 3. Not much for vegetarians in b fast. 4.bathroom door does not close. 5. Tariff too high for this facility. 6. Not good even by world budget hotel standard.
Review 52:Only the location!
Review 53:Room was outdated and could have been updated. Breakfast was not very good compared to others.
Review 54:Great location and food in restaurant was good. Good view from the balcony of the valley.
Review 55:Small issues that would make it just a bit better and that is common room tea and coffee services could be better. TV in room was very small and did not work but weather was good so we spent little time indoors.
Review 56:Great location, great breakfast the lovely manager even gave us a sandwich an apple and juice on the morning we left as we had to go too early for the breakfast. Lovely balconly, restaurant downstairs was nice.
Review 57:Noisy groups could easily be heard shouting in corridors, running up & down stairs and moving around on floor above. If you didn't go to breakfast very early, the groups ate it all and hardly anything left.
Review 58:Location was great, view of Staubbach Falls beautiful. Staff friendly. Chinese food very good.
Review 59:unbelievably rude wait staff. very tired hotel -- seriously shabby. no tea kettle in room. breakfast was lame. there was never anyone at reception. ever.
Review 60:nice restaurant with amazing views. great pool. good location.
Review 61:Far from train station up and down hill with luggage, no shuttle or taxi. There is a bus every 20 min. or so. No lift (family room on 4th floor). Indoor pool unavailable, Outdoor pool closed at 6, just when we were getting back from day of exploring.
Review 62:Great restaurant, close to waterfalls and cultural center, friendly staff, comfortable beds, spacious airy rooms.
Review 63:There really is no front desk staff in this hotel. When we arrived there was one waitress working in a busy restaurant who then had to check us in as well. She had a number of tables and although she was very pleasant, it was obvious that more staff was needed. Again on our checkout, we had to wait as the owner (who was very friendly as well) dealt with kitchen issues.
Review 64:Staff were unable to confirm an extension of stay without the hotel owners approval. IN OUR CASE HE WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR DAYS. The hotel was very musty and lacking in any real security to the room. We were on the fist floor.
Review 65:SOME STAFF WERE VERY PLEASANT AND HELPFUL. IT WAS A GOOD LOCATION:
Review 66:I booked a hotel with swimming pool and then I found out the swimming pool was closed. I booked a room with a kitchen and then I found out that the kitchen is not functional. I was also surprised by the rude reaction of the hotel keeper when I asked for extra dishes.
Review 67:Location, big rooms, nice view from window, nice waiters
Review 68:Pillows. Too flat and had to take out the duvet from the cover as it was way too warm. Breakfast selection - poor. Better to eat outside.
Review 69:Wonderful location - central and quiet. Room was ok, air a bit stuffy so had to keep the window open all the time.
Review 70:No lifts and we had to lift our heavy luggages up to 3rd floor
Review 71:The location is 2-3 mins walking distance to the Lauterbrunnen train station. Very convenient if you plan to go up to Jungfrau and catch the early bird offer. Also near to the famous Staubbachfall. Very nice view from the balcony. We are given a family room which is quite spacious for 6 of us. The staffs are very polite and personalised. The hotel restaurant do have Asian menu. We enjoyed our stay very much
Review 72:Bathroom was like an entry hall, shower very difficult to use, and it had a shower curtain that got in the way. No exhaust fan. No air- conditioning in room, needed a fan at least.
Review 73:Staff were very friendly, dinner was great. Lady at breakfast was great fun, and she spoke English!!
Review 74:They have charged my credit card without authorisation when i came back. And then dont even bother to reply to my emails. I had to file a disputed transection claim.
Review 75:The hotel is old and in need of updating, but the rooms were clean enough and the staff was great even though most of them were brand new.
Review 76:The staff was amazing. Friendly, helpful and willing to work with you. The location was good -
Review 77:Incredibly noisy and dirty looking area with clubs and people yelling literally all night and all morning (had very little sleep). Also dodgy looking packs of blokes standing on the street staring at you. Feels unsafe.
Review 78:Breakfast was average. We had to figure out how to use the Nespresso machine by ourselves. Change in ownership might have hurt this hotel. We were the ONLY people staying at the hotel which was kind of creepy.
Review 79:The hotel manager(?) lady was wonderful! Great Chinese dinner in hotel restaurant. Can't beat the location.
Review 80:A little noisy due to the stream running besides the hotel, but acceptable.
Review 81:I can see the Staubach Waterfall from my room with the mountains behind. Nice view. Room is large and comfortable. Staff is polite and nice.
Review 82:Far from railway station about 15min uphill road. Not so quiet because close to spring amd water flowing always makes me image heavy raining. Check in time is aft 15:00 but receiption didn't open bf 15:00. I couldnt leave my luggage and had to take them back to railway station.
Review 83:Frendly staffs, JACKY, who gave us a water boiler. Good food for dinner. They have CHINESE food and reasonable prize. Big room with view of falls just in front of window.
Review 84:Need more lights in hallways etc and stairwells. 1-3 floors with no lift or similar difficult for two ladies to,get luggage up and down from room. Otherwise enjoyed our stay.
Review 85:Loved location with breakfast available and restaurant below.
Review 86:Bed sheets were not replaced on the second day There was no coffee table in the room Family room was not really useful as there was no baby bed View from family room was not that great front side rooms had better view of the mountain valley. Receptionist could not find our booking for several minutes. Initially she said that we don`t have a booking. She had no clue about the special requirements that we requested through booking.com customer service
Review 87:Breakfast was good Close to station
Review 88:It closes at very early and between 11:00 and 18:00, there is no one at hotel to help you. You are almost alone withyourself. And also it will be better if the personel helps you about planning the day and giving info about there.
Review 89:Lauterbrunnen, our hotel and its place is very fantastic. Breakfast is upper than standart. personel is very cherrfull.
Review 90:Pool and sauna area closed while we were there and would have been nice to use after skiing as the room had no bath, just a shower
Review 91:Friendly staff, good wifi, free parking, convenient for local busses
Review 92:No problems.
Review 93:Lauterbrunnen was one of our favourite towns we visited during our tour of 4 European countries. Although exceeding our accommodation budget Hotel Jungfrau 's availability made it possible for us to extend our stay in the jungfrau valley until the weather cleared up to make Jungfraujoch worth the visit. Lovely hotel. Good breakfast, friendly staff. Free coffee in the lounge.
Review 94:Can't think of any such thing.
Review 95:Excellent view point from room balcony. Located at walking distance from Lauterbrunnen Train Station Maria and Jackie were very helpful, friendly and kind. Lovely breakfast. Highly recommended!!
Review 96:Hotel needs updating and no tea / coffee making facilities in room
Review 97:Fantastic location and lovely welcome by South African lady who threw in breakfast for free
Review 98:The room was in need of an update. The bed was old and uncomfortable with very thin pillows. The whole place could use a renovation to update facilities.
Review 99:The location was great, no de views all around. Staff was friendly.
Review 100:Went there specifically to see the James Bond experience but it was closed for maintenance, just wish Ida it wouldof been posted somewhere online. Opens back up dec 6.
Review 101:Very easily accessible with fair amount of parking or walking from the train station. A 70 minute walk to the gondola ride into murren, gorgeous walk. Staff was very friendly and local area was nice and tons to do and see.
Review 102:staff not very helpful, when you even seen them, and the smell of the Chinese food drowned the whole hotel,
Review 103:location great, views were beautiful and stunning, rooms were warm clean and cosy,
Review 104:the hotel is full of chinese food smell and smoke, not only during dinner hours. The guest room floor is uneven, no sound proof at all, we can hear people talk in next room very clearly.
Review 105:location is good, close to railway station, we can see the fall from terrace which is nice.
Review 106:Location was really great. This hotel is perfect for those who are not looking for 5* indoor facilities. After all Lauterbrunnen is about nature not accommodation.
Review 107:15 minute uphill walk with luggage from train station to hotel. no lifts in hotel. so travelers with heavy suitcases may have to consider. absentee staff especially from 8pm. quite old, shabby and not as clean relative to other Swiss hotels.
Review 108:Large lounge room with large tv and coffee machine. reasonably priced hotel. albeit old and worn with tiny rooms.
Review 109:Old dark dirty dingy hallways. Old wornout room and bath. Peeling paint and cheap linoleum floor. Linoleum on the walls of the bathroom!! Peeling paint. Old wornout futon in room. Cheap and uncarefor hotel
Review 110:View from our room
Review 111:Lack of security, back door unlocked and keys had hotel name and room number, too bad if we lost keys
Review 112:Wonderful location overlooking jungfrau and stabbauch falls from balcony, fluffy white towels, spotless bedding, clean bathroom
Review 113:The hotel resturant is POOR!! Worst meal we had in our trip!!
Review 114:Proximity to the train Staff is very helpful! Wifi is fast, but the reception is a bit problematic Location: Middle of lauterbrunnen.
Review 115:I would go back and would recommend this hotel to others. Good location, great beauty all around. Loved view of waterfall from room. Enjoyed eating there at the hotel.
Review 116:Quoted Fr380 by Booking.com but were charged 400 for 3 nights. We had no time to argue as we needed to catch a train. No elevator!
Review 117:Good breakfast- but Fr15p.p. Amazing view.
Review 118:Hotel is owned by Chinese and does appear to focus on Chinese guests including an extensive Chinese menu. I went to Switzerland for a Swiss experience. Hotel badly needs an update. Breakfast very measured.
Review 119:Very good location and the local staff who were helpful
Review 120:Not well staffed. The friendly receptionist was looking after too many duties. Fair place to sleep good value. Did not haemorrhage their breakfast. Looking into the restaurant one morning it did not look as if there was enough for the money.
Review 121:Location.
Review 122:- Bathtub the size of a wash basin - seriously one of the funniest things I've seen in a hotel. - Entrance door leads straight into the bathroom - door almost hits the toilet upon entering. - BUT ... the service was utterly horrendous! Walked into hotel/restaurant to the sound of chef screaming at waitress/receptionist/supervisor - she screaming like her life was at risk - considered calling the police ... just terrible - very uncomfortable place to arrive.
Review 123:Decent location.
Review 124:Couldn't put our dinner on our hotel charge
Review 125:Hotel was in a great location with decent size rooms and balconies. It was close to the train station and within walking distance to the waterfalls
Review 126:There is a Chinese restaurant on the bottom floor, you could almost always smell the food. Also, it wasn't clear exactly where to check in. There were not posted hours for staff being available for check out. We needed to leave at 6am and no one was to be found and we couldn't contact anyone when we tried calling
Review 127:The location was great, right in the heart of Lauterbrunnen. You could see the waterfall from our room. For a "buget" hotel, the place was clean, cozy and quiet.
Review 128:A bit expensive and breakfast was a very ordinary and not worth the extra price.
Review 129:Very nice and clean hotel with a perfect location with views to several waterfalls. Great service minded staff.
Review 130:Old interior.
Review 131:The price was good for the area but the room was super minimal for the cost and was a bit old and extremely dated. The chinese food was good at the restaurant.
Review 132:Where do I start? Right from the off they didn't have my booking when I arrived, I had to get a copy with my booking number to prove I had booked 3 months earlier. The receptionist called the "boss" and after some discussion he "found" my booking and arranged for a room. I was made to pay in full for the night immediately (something I hadn't had to do in over 2 weeks of staying in various hotels), I wasn't ever given a receipt and was told in the morning to drop off my key and the "Chinese" would see the note that I had already paid. Arriving in the room I noticed a ominous scent of mould and mildue, and upon opening the windows I noticed there was no "mountain views" as described but rather the top of what seemed to be and abandoned building. As mentioned above we could see the waterfall from the tiny bathroom window, perhaps that's what the description pointed to??? The 5 tv channels available made that a pointless exercise as they were just local tv stations. Once we got to the bed things got worse. The bed covers smelt as though they hadn't been dried properly, and while trying to sleep the smell was unbearable, I had to use a couple of spare towels I had taken along to cover myself. In the morning on checkout I had to wait 20 minutes before someone acknowledge the fact I was at the checkin desk and then was told I could've just left the key because if already paid..........I don't think this is a very professional approach considering in sure they'd have said they never received the key and charged me for it. At 147 swiss franks, id expect a much higher quality stay, and at least some sort of breakfast (15 franks seems very extreme and unreasonable) It was the most horrible experience of my month long european trip, I wished I had taken the advice of fellow past reviewers and never made a booking at this horrible hotel.
Review 133:View of the waterfall from the tiny bathroom window, might sound silly but that was the only highlight!
Review 134:The problem with the room is that the odors from the kitchen filled the hallway and made their way into the room. We stuffed the rug under the door, which helped some, but not enough. We opened the windows, but the noise of the nearby waterfall intruded. For some it would be "white noise", but for my wife, is was more than that. Also, the beds were very firm. Needless to say, we did not get a good nights sleep.
Review 135:We had a very nicely located room, with views of the mountains and the waterfalls. The hotel is very convenient to everything in Lauterbrunnen, and the room had some recent updates, such as a new bed.
