Reviews for Himwitsa Lodge

Review 1:Hot tub view was the powerline. Decor - could use updating. After looking around in area - found several better $ deals for other highly rated accomodations - would have stayed elsewhere if had known.

Review 2:Roomy. Clean. Comfortable bed with nice duvet. Dual heat registers - so could have cooler bedroom for comfortable sleeping.

Review 3:The view was beautiful. The food was excellent. The candied salmon from the fish store was scrumptious. The artwork in our room was fascinating. The room was very comfortable and cozy. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.

Review 4:Fridge was too small. We had a good cooler with us, so it wasn't a problem, though.

Review 5:Beautiful room. Great view. Comfortable beds. Private and clean.

Review 6:Leaving to go home :)

Review 7:Spectaxular view, super spacious room, the room was perfectly equipped especially the kitchenette, the only thing better was the staff's hospitality.

Review 8:Nothing. Couldn't find fault.

Review 9:Wonderful vistas to sit and have a beer. Accommodation excellent. Never seen the point of hottubs, but enjoyed this experience.

Review 10:None

Review 11:It was the perfect location for elderly people who wants to minimize driving. We could get almost any thing within walking distance, restaurants, grossly, etc.

Review 12:Don't know if they run a laundry downstairs but there was a constant smell of washing in the hallway but not in rooms so it was not a problem and certainly did not spoil our stay.

Review 13:Great Location for the town overlooking the bay, great views. Free parking and Wifi and fully equipped apartment with good sized beds, very comfortable. Good seafood restaurant overlooking bay at ground level. Hot tub on the balcony (which we didn't use but looked good).

Review 14:Well appointed apartment with kitchen, good bathroom and comfy bed as well as the large balcony with hot tub. Great location overlooking bay with lots of boat activity and seaplane/helicopter terminal.

Review 15:Fantastic location with balcony overlooking the quay, all the facilities you could wish for with a great seafood restaurant attached at the rear. Would recommend for sure!!!

Review 16:The lodge is spacious, well decorated and clean!! Oveooking the waterfront it has amazing views, the Sea Shanty serves amazing food!! It is also close to the main shops of tofino. A wonderful , peaceful place to stay!

Review 17:No ice? Told to go to the store up the hill? We made a reservation for dinner downstairs and asked the waitress for ice, she gladly filled up a water pitcher with ice. Well used rooms, could do with an update.

Review 18:The view, the hot tub, two beds. Restaurant was convenient, delicious but pricy.

Review 19:We have small kids (7 and 4) and while they slept in the room on the bed, my husband and I had to share the sofa bed, which was not comfortable.

Review 20:The location was amazing. Central to the main hub of Tofino. Walking distance to grocery store, restaurants, park, pier etc. I really appreciated the clean and well stocked kitchen (kitchen supplies)

Review 21:some noise from bar over the road late at night

Review 22:Good family room with bedroom separate from living room when sofa bed was located. Good to have kitchen facilities. Hot tub great fun

Review 23:According to the description of the room there had to be a dishwasher and there was none. According to their policy I had to pay for leaving unwashed dishes that the unexistent dishwasher would have cleaned. I didn't receive neither a rebate, nor an apology for the fact that the room did not meet the features described in the booking.

Review 24:Its location

Review 25:Sign on door shower before going into hot tub but there were no soap or shampoo to do so. On the belconey was a used bandage and a coffee cup lid from a to go cup.

Review 26:The view was fantastic

Review 27:Extremely comfortable room with comfy chairs, good kitchen area and balcony with the most amazing view over the water. Walking distance of supermarket, shops and the wonderful Schooner Restaurant.

Review 28:No negative experience here!

Review 29:The lodge is situated near the water. The small sea-planes are coming and going, on the water which gives a nice atmosphere. Infrastructure is perfect, with the jacuzzi on the terrace overlooking the sea - perfect for sunset!

Review 30:flight of stairs to the level where the rooms were locaed makes it difficult for persons with mobility issues

Review 31:Room was beautifully decorated with native theme. Room was large with cooking facilities and spacious balcony overlooking the water

Review 32:Kitchen equipment was a little limited but everything else was very comfortable.

Review 33:Hot tub used every night from where we viewed a sea otter in the bay, floating on it's back while eating a clam, was the icing on the cake. The Sea Shanty Restaurant downstairs served excellent food.

Review 34:We arrived to record setting heat, wished there had been an air conditioner.

Review 35:Welcoming staff, close to everything, nice view, quiet, comfortable bed, enjoyed the dining downstairs!

Review 36:Large suite with plenty of storage space. Well equipped kitchen area. Outside seating overlooking the harbour, perfect for catching the sunset. Close to local restaurants and supermarkets

Review 37:Expensive. Las night of stay, meal was totally messed up by staff. Only 2 starters arrived instead of three. Main meal arrived 2 minutes after starters. Had to as for extra plate so that we could share outr starters between 3 of us....

Review 38:Good comfortable accommodation

Review 39:Nothing.

Review 40:Have stayed here for past two years for the Edge to Edge Marathon, beautiful executive suites and great, clean room with hot tub. Really enjoy staying here.

Review 41:The personal hot tub was delightful, relaxing, the bed and linens were excellent, bathroom spotless and well stocked with amenities. Everything was shiny clean everywhere.

Review 42:This was a lovely large apartment overlooking the bay with a hot tub on our balcony. Every facility was catered for with plenty of dishes & crockery in the kitchen. Extra tea, coffee & sugar was available in the hall at all times.Sitting in our hot tub in the evening drinking a glass of wine & looking out over the bay was heaven.

Review 43:1. Disappointed we couldn`t stay longer - the Lodge was fully booked. 2. The Sea Shanty restaurant attached to the restaurant was convenient, nice small size, had atmosphere, great sea view, friendly waiter and tasty local beer, however the fish and chips was so-so (battered, breaded & pan fried). Would have liked more ethnic 1st nations cuisine (bannock, etc). 3. TV - hardly got any channels but may be because we couldn`t figure out how to work it. It was ok because we had books, scenery, hot tub, great internet connection and were tired from our day exploring the nice Tofino stores and nearby beaches in the fresh sea air. 4. Kitchen was well equipped but we bought some local crabs and no salt and just a very tiny pot.

Review 44:I stayed at the Lodge with my 85 year old mom for 2 nights at the beginning of May. We wanted a really nice place to stay in case we couldn't go out (possible off season rainy weather & her age). We were thrilled - exactly as described on the website. We stayed in room #3 (corner suite, ocean view/can`t get any closer, private hot tub, great internet reception, fireplace, free parking). As soon as we entered the room we were hit with this panoramic picturesque view of the ocean. The Lodge is right on the water by a dock. You can see the sea planes landing, people out kayaking and all the activity on the dock from the water taxis taking people to and from Meares Island. We even spotted a seal and some eagles. The room was large and equipped. The beds were really comfortable, with the best pillows ever, if you like soft feather pillows. The room was spotlessly clean and the decor in our room had a native theme. Some of the art work in the room could be purchased in the store where you check in. The private hot tub was really nice. I probably would`t go to a public hot tub; so it was just nice to sit on the balcony with some wine and some mouth watering smoked salmon from the shop attached to the Lodge and take in the tranquility. There is a flight of about 20 stairs to get up to the room but there is a railing. The Lodge is walking distance up a small hill to a grocery store, bakery and a few shops, but if you are over 80 years old might want to drive to get into the heart of the town. We are totally raving about this Lodge to all our friends, just too bad the high cost of the ferry really adds to the trip price and makes us less likely to visit the Lodge on a regular basis.

Review 45:Just a small point, the kitchenette had little work space. But not a deal bresker

Review 46:Balcony with stunning views of clayquot sound, well furnished ,comfortable, spacious ,room very clean.Location close to whale watching jetties.

Review 47:Views from the balcony were amazing, and location with great with grocery, coffee, and liquor all near by. The size and cleanliness of the room were a great surprise. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly!

Review 48:I was told by the booking agent that the total I would pay for the 2 days would be $250 on arrival we were charged I was told by the booking agent that the total I would pay for the 2 days would be $250 - on arrival we were charged $143.75 per day. As I had made the booking I did not like to query it in front of my sister. I think you should look into this. Miss-information can cause unpleasantness.

Review 49:The friendliness of the staff and the comfort. The good service in the Restaurant and the convenience and quality of the items in the gift store.

Review 50:When checking in we were told the hot tub was cleaned and the water was changed. However there was still some "stuff" in the water... but it was ok, still acceptable. The polls on the street really ruin the pictures from the balcony ...

Review 51:The room is spacious and very clean. The couches and the bed are comfortable. Very quiet neighborhood. Well...Tofino is quiet and peaceful anyways :) If you plan to cook a bit yourself, remember to bring basic spices. The kitchen is generously well equipped. No need to mention about the hot tub and the views of the sea and the mountains. They are totally worth it!

Review 52:Couldn't get the remote to work, but found other entertainment.

Review 53:Hot tub after a long day of hiking or sight-seeing! Spacious and great view. Secure spot and easy access to all of Tofino.

Review 54:We had a couple next door who fought much of the night. We heard a kid scream (though we were told next day there was no child in the room)and the woman, too. Both the guy and girl were loud, angry, and very drunk. They were in their room, out on their balcony and in the hallway yelling and at times talking and laughing drunkenly. As the owner of the establishment was not on the premises and we kept thinking they would quit, we didn't call anyone to have the situation dealt with. It was a sleepless night for myself and my 21 year old daughter. They were loud before midnight, carried on for several hours and then were up at 6 or so. Both times were later and earlier than we were planning on being awake. We came at 7:30 and had to stand in the cold until someone came to let us in so we knew there was no one around to call for help. The person who came was very friendly. We didn't get breakfast, but maybe that comes in season when the room is more expensive. The restaurant in the building was nicely designed and the food was good, though the prices were very high for simple burger supper.($50) Staff were friendly and apologetic when we checked out.

Review 55:The room was beautiful and spacious. We loved the deck and the view.

Review 56:Himwitsa Lodge gave us everything we could have wanted from our stay in Tofino. The views from the balcony are breathtaking. The room was huge will lots of space/facilities for self-catering.

Review 57:The decaf coffee was awful.

Review 58:We stayed in unit 3 and it had AMAZING views of the ocean. Having a hot tub on the deck made soaking in the view that much more enjoyable. The unit was spacious and decorated with beautiful aboriginal art. The fish store downstairs sold us smoked salmon which was a wonderful appetizer.

Review 59:We were initially ignored at check-in though the woman at the desk realized the mistake and apologized for the incident and was very helpful thereafter. The bed was okay though not extraordinarily comfortable.

Review 60:The hot tub was a nice feature as was the (electronic) fireplace. The deck felt somewhat private and there were nice harbour views.

Review 61:Our restaurant was closed unfortunately but loved Schooner up the street. Noisy in the morning with Tofino Air planes taking off. No Scott towels.

Review 62:Loved the balcony. Great place to watch the action of the 1st street dock. Loved the friendly staff in the store on the first floor.

Review 63:-No elevator -Smallish kitchen (although it is well equipped)

Review 64:-Convenient location to town and walking distance to all facilities -Great view of the harbor from nice balcony -Very clean and well appointed interiors -Very attentive staff -Nice restaurant below hotel

Review 65:Nothing

Review 66:The corner room was extremely light with patio doors opening onto a very large deck overlooking the harbour. There was a large hot tub(which we didn't use) on the deck. The furnishings were of high quality with First Nations art works on the wall. The small kitchen and dining area enabled us to eat breakfast in the room. The location in the centre of town was perfect.

Review 67:Only thing I can think of is that the fridge was loud. So really, everything was great!

Review 68:It was situated right on the water. The suite had its own hot tub. Lovely suite, comfortable bed, full kitchen. Could sit in the hot tub and view the ocean. Nice restaurant. Beautiful gift shop. Very nice First Nations art decorating the lodge.

Review 69:The humming during the night that seemed to come from the hot tub although we did not turn it on.

Review 70:Lovely view, excellent beds, kitchen available if needed, setup of room and tastefully decorated, excellent staff, good restaurant downstairs, excellent store and gallery

Review 71:The quality of the furnishings and finishing of the room was top notch. The room was big bright and airy. Staff were extremely friendly. I could not fault anything. Pity we only stayed one night.

Review 72:We were in a side view apartment and we had very little view because it was obstructed by a large, straggly fir tree. A tree surgeon could have improved this easily without removing the tree altogether.

Review 73:Very clean, comfortable, quiet apartment.

Review 74:We were expecting a full ocean view. Suite 4 was barely a partial. Overpriced by about $100 per night. Hot tub chlorination level way too high.....bleached out our swim suits. Could use a king bed. A bit warm without air conditioning but fan in bedroom worked well.

Review 75:Lots of room. Hot tub. Well equipped kitchen. Good location. Very clean. Staff very friendly.

Review 76:A bit on the expensive side.

Review 77:Large room was very clean and comfortable. Location in town is perfect with beautiful views of the harbor and surrounding area and a close walk to restaurants, stores, etc. Even a few nice hiking trails within walking distance of room.

Review 78:Loved the view from the lodge. So much going on and lots to watch. The young man that signed us in upon arrival was so pleasant & very informative. Loved the fish store. Bought smoked salmon everyday but my husband liked the peppered one best. Our first visit to Tofino was wonderful.

Review 79:This was an amazing place to stay! The room was large and clean, including the kitchen and the wonderful hot-tub on the balcony! The views cannot be described, they must be seen for yourself. You will not be dissapointed!

Review 80:everything was great!

Review 81:the large spacious room with kitchenette. A balcony that overlooked the ocean and government dock. Sitting on the balcony relaxing and watching the boats and seaplanes come and go as well as seabirds and eagles

Review 82:We have no constructive feedback to provide.

Review 83:Our room was perfect! We had previously stayed at the Duffein Cove and while a nice spot , there was no comparison to our room at Himwitsa. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, room was updated, well kept and very clean. Overall an amazing place we would highly recommend.

Review 84:On our arrival the manager was rude and unhelpful. He tried to take final payment from my bank account before I even arrived, invalidating my account in the process! His attitude to me and my family was quite appalling!

Review 85:Great place and location. Loved Toffino and Himwista Lodge.

Review 86:Restaurant was ok. I suggest you go explore town to find a more interesting menue. Had the oysters baked with chess. Expensive and soggy...

Review 87:Breathtaking view of the arbour. We had such a wonderful time. Hotel is comfortable and clean. Love the hot tub on the balcony from which you can see all the action of the arbour.

Review 88:Leaving after four superb relaxing days. Surprisingly - no hair dryer.

Review 89:Spacious room, tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished with two armchairs. The kitchenette had all the equipment we needed. What was special was the view - and you could still see it from the hot tub! We had an excellent meal at the restaurant downstairs and were surprised by the wide range and quality of the first nation gifts in the store also below our accommodation.

Review 90:Stain on the carpet, no coffee cups, plastic wine glasses

Review 91:Totem pool
