Reviews for Long Beach Lodge Resort
Review 1:The rooms are a bit tired and dated, particularly for the top dollar that you are paying to stay here. The TV was small and not HD. Although the staff was generally very friendly and energetic, it would be nice to see a management presence on site - stopping by to say hello in the Great Room and/or just being available for chit chat and commentary. The water cooler in the gym was empty all three days we attended. Although I give a high rating for cleanliness overall, my pet peeve is when hotels do not wash the throw blanket between guests - that was the case here. When you are paying such high rates, you expect these little touches to be attended to.
Review 2:The location in Cox Bay is absolutely stunning! This must be one of the most gorgeous beaches in North America. It is very popular with the surfers due to the big waves and, I expect, fabulous scenery. As for the hotel, our bed was very comfortable with top quality bedding and the staff, with only a couple of exceptions, was excellent. Kudos to quite a number of staff who went out of their way to ensure we were content and comfortable. We were nearly always met with a smile and upbeat greeting.
Review 3:Amazing location (just by the beach) & hotel design, great room comfort and incredible views from the restaurant, the lobby/restaurant area with the fireplace is really cosy! This is definitely the nicest place in Tofino!
Review 4:smoking! The late at night smokers in a smoke free facility! Having to close sliding doors as the chain smokers smoked! A lot of money spent in a smoke free facility to have a lot of smoking
Review 5:One waitress needs a little more finesse when speaking to customers. A, "I'll be with you in a moment" would be better than "Yah I saw ya" The wine was good but a little pricey, but I guess they are in most restaurants. We still enjoyed it.
Review 6:The room cleaning service lady during our stay greeted us every time she saw us, which was nice. The resort is outstanding and everyone was very nice. The food is top notch. The balcony over looking the ocean was bar none the best part. Watching the surfers while having a nice glass of wine.
Review 7:The front desk staff explained the noise out front of my room at 7:30 inthe morning was because I had booked through Bookings.com and they onlyget the poorest rooms and therefore I had a room in the front which wasnoisy. What!!!!!!! Really!!!I have only heard that once befor from a Relais and Chateau front desk staff.. I believe he was reprimanded and I had my room charges refunded.
Review 8:Leaving !
Review 9:Nothing bad to say.
Review 10:Beautiful beach, friendly knowledgeable staff, good food, great stay for my bday and celebrating our anniversary. We would stay here again.
Review 11:The service in the dining room was disorganised and we waited too long for our food. When the food finally arrived it was superb so maybe it was just an off night?
Review 12:Beautiful scenery and fantastic accommodation.
Review 13:Nowhere informal to sit and get an ice cream, hot drinks or soft drinks overlooking beach - beach bistro was for food and mainly alcoholic drinks so we felt it was not so welcoming to families. Also we were given a cottage then asked to move an hour later because they had given us the wrong cottage. We refused to do this as we had already unpacked.
Review 14:Location and lovely 2 bed cottage.
Review 15:Torino Wi Fi is not the best
Review 16:Great room meals were excellent, the staff is very friendly and the ocean front location is perfect to listen to the waves
Review 17:I should have brought boogie boards and rented wet suits for those in our party less apt to surf or paddle board. It would be nice if they rented boogie boards, but I understand that might end up crowding the waves for surfers (safety issue)
Review 18:The cabin was AWESOME for our family with older kids. As were the activities (surf lessons, paddle boards). Location is prime for beach walks, sunsets, and wave action.
Review 19:Long wait (45 mins.) for dinner one night despite reservation due to staff shortage in restaurant.
Review 20:Friendly engaging staff. Fabulous scenic location. Wonderful food. Totally relaxing.
Review 21:Internet connectivity is non-existent, even with good WiFi signal. We were told it was due to a remote location, but we stayed in a B&B which had working internet! Food was nice, but as with the hotel, rather overpriced. Seems to try too hard to be luxurious when in fact it's just an expensive surfer den
Review 22:- beautiful location, right on the beach with waves lapping just a short distance from the window - huge room and bathroom, lovely beachfront balcony - nice warm building
Review 23:Overall, the hotel has seen better days and needs major updates. Our deluxe room was very noisy from running water from upstairs unit and certainly not worth the premium being charged. We left early and found superior lodging in Parksville with a great view, indoor swimming pool, better menu, enjoyable beach, and much lower cost.
Review 24:Great ocean view and enjoyable if you are a surfer or watching them but nothing special after that.
Review 25:The only thing we found odd was that the sauna and hot tub were on the other side of the parking lot.
Review 26:We loved the staff here, they were extremely accommodating and friendly without being over-bearing. The view from the room is amazing, and everything very clean. Dinner in the Great Room was really excellent, we loved it.
Review 27:There were a few things that didn't work like a lamp switch, and the plug in the bathroom sink. A few things could use a touch up like some of the furniture and walls.
Review 28:The location is great and the staff were excellent.
Review 29:We liked the staff, the location, the Great Room and the room we stayed. Even my husband, who likes to stay home best of all, kept saying, "This is a great place. I really like this hotel."
Review 30:This was our fist time staying at LBL. A beautiful place, great staff, good food and a view that can't be beat, and the weather even cooperated and was awesome! Made for a great stay.
Review 31:During the last dinner, there was no romaine lettuce for the ceasar salad. They substituted mixed greens and kaile. We were not made aware until we ate it. They should have told us in advance.
Review 32:The walking on the beaches, the hot tub and the relaxed atmosphere
Review 33:I did not like the noise from above suite we were in the middle it was very noisy from water running = to heavy walker above and in hallways the non smoking policy you woiuld think would have been in place.... there were weed smokers next to us and the smoke came directly into our room... we complained but it continued through our whole stay... it was sad... but what can you do for a 319 dollar room a night you would think the front desk would have offered to move us..
Review 34:the ocean view was spectacular the cleanliness of room was awesome the weather there was good....
Review 35:For us personally we would have preferred to have more privacy between the bathroom and bedroom, the shutters close but don't give privacy.
Review 36:We loved everything about this beautiful resort. Staff are fantastic, accommodation couldn't be better, location and proximity to a fabulous beach is perfect. I could rave all day about the place. The Great room is a wonderful, warm, inviting place to have a drink or dinner or just hang out on a couch and watch the surfers.
Review 37:Ocean front lodge blended with the environment. Scenery is perfection. Marveled at surfers doing their thing, literally from dawn to dusk. What a show from our breakfast table. And perfect place to relax with a glass and take in the January sunset. Hope to return soon.
Review 38:At one point we really did need to send a report off by internet and that did not work. But we went into Tofino and had a lovely breakfast at Tuff Beans and got it all squared away. Not a major inconvenience for sure.
Review 39:We really enjoyed everything about our stay, which was a gift from our children. The location is spectacular and the room, #312, was absolutely beautiful. I especially loved the fireplace.
Review 40:-the only thing that didn't meet our expectations was in the great room when we went to have a drink. We all had an expensive drink but felt quite pressured to have more drink or food if we wanted to stay and enjoy the view. I could have understood this if the place had been crowded but it wasn't. Since the cottages do not have water views and because we were told when we arrived that people could use the great room for leisure or as a restaurant we were surprised by this pressure. Having travelled extensively in Asia and Europe we know that allowing people to sit and enjoy the atmosphere is a sign of hospitality we were left with a poor impression because of this experience.
Review 41:Many things: -west coast style of buildings fit the area perfectly -undisturbed nature around buildings and cottages -lounge was warm and welcoming -cottage was comfortable, clean and well appointed -staff was friendly and very accommodating -Landscaping along the drive in was so in keeping with the area but also very attractive -the chef lent us a pot to cook our crab in. We appreciated this as we had family visiting from Europe who had not had the experience of cooking and eating fresh crab.
Review 42:We got engaged during our weekend in Tofino, and wanted to have dinner in the lodge to celebrate. We sat at the bar and Mike took great care of us all night. It was certainly a meal to remember. Besides our great bartender, the food was so fresh and absolutely delicious. All of the other staff we encountered on our visit were incredibly friendly, courteous, and helpful as well! To top it all off, in my opinion, there is no better location on the entire west coast. Long Beach Lodge is stunning.
Review 43:A little far from the town if you don't have a car.
Review 44:This is my 3rd time to Tofino, and first time to the Long Beach Lodge. I highly recommend it, the best place we've stayed so far. The service was excellent, and the accommodations were great. We enjoyed being right on the beach, and the lodge restaurant was fantastic.
Review 45:We were on the third/top floor and even in September the room was quite warm to sleep in at night. There is no air-con which I understand is part of the ecological design of the hotel - which is a good thing.
Review 46:We had the standard room which did not have a sea view but it was still a lovely room. The Great Room has an amazing view of the bay and is great to eat in. There is a Bistro bar outside which serves great food too. For those who complain about the WIFI you have to understand that this is on the West Coast of the island where the infrastructure is relatively poor.
Review 47:Facilities were not as good as they should have been. The hot tub wasn't working at all and the sauna not working properly. This is obviously part of what you pay for.
Review 48:Location, service and friendly staff.
Review 49:Our room was lovely - but rear facing. Definitely worth upgrading to an ocean view.
Review 50:Great beachfront setting - loved having breakfast looking out over the ocean.
Review 51:Our room was ground level 10 feet from a busy walkway. Absolutely no privacy with people staring into our room. We even had a family eating their supper on our patio.I booked and advised this was our anniversary. Would never risk booking there again and getting one of the mainfloor rooms.
Review 52:Location and dining room
Review 53:The 'standard' room we had was very dark and faced fir trees. But was still expensive. We did enjoy the setting at meal times etc but felt rather disappointed overall.
Review 54:The position of the hotel facing onto the beach- I would highly recommend this hotel but only if you have / can afford a room facing the sea.
Review 55:Nothing.
Review 56:Long Beach Lodge welcomes you from the very beginning with friendly, helpful staff who want to make your stay wonderful. We only had a standard room but it came with all the amenities. Coffee with real milk not the dry pre- packaged stuff. The bathroom was large with a separate tub and shower. Views of the coast from the main dining/lodge were beautiful. Breakfast was very good in the main dining room. Loved the natural surroundings and overall atmosphere. Very relaxing and romantic. Extremely quiet.
Review 57:No common area to see the view of the ocean on cold and rainy days...only dining room. No view of ocean from room, only parking lot. Front desk not very friendly.
Review 58:Ocean Front Accomodation
Review 59:Food is good, but not spectacular, and a bit pricey. Breakfast is not included in the price, and when I asked if I could take a banana from a fruit bowl on the bar as a snack for the day, it was another $1.25! Even though I had just paid for breakfast.
Review 60:The location is gorgeous, on Cox Bay beach. Well worth having a room in the lodge facing the beach where you can sit and watch and listen to the ocean. Rooms are comfortable, staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 61:When we arrived our bookings.com reservation was not found by the staff. They asked us to go to the lounge and have a complimentary drink and appetizer while they search for a room for us, as they were fully booked. After 30 mins they came back and solved the solution, it included a nights stay at a competitor at the rate we would pay at the LBR, and free dinner and room the next night. The Staff were all so helpfully and genuinely wanted to help us. they made us feel comfortable and welcome.
Review 62:Can't blame the hotel but August is called Fogust locally! Bar closed early, pre 11.00pm.
Review 63:Great access directly to the beach. Good views from the dining room. Food good but not exceptional. Service friendly and positive.
Review 64:Reduced privacy in the bathroom because of a wooden panel between bathroom and bedroom to permit the view through that panel and the balcony door to the beach. Noisy pluming. We had a room with sea-view which was over the beach bar and had to keep our curtains drawn some part of the day to ensure privacy. The bed moved on one side when the person sleeping on the opposite side moved which made it quite uncomfortable. Overrated prices at the bar and restaurant and in spite of this very small helpings by the glass of cocktails and wines. Just one sort of jam at breakfast. For non-surfers, a swimming pool would have been a wonderful pass- time.
Review 65:The location right on the beach. The personnel very kind and efficient. The lovely view from the restaurant. The size both of the room and the bathroom, quite large.
Review 66:We found mapping and locator could be improved since lodge is further north than actual long beach public park and beach.
Review 67:Room layout with fireplace Robes Close to beach and amenities Hotel and cabin/suite options
Review 68:The hotel seemed a little pricey, but in the long run was probably worth the guarantee that the would be a positive experience.
Review 69:Great location with a beautiful view. Service was great, room large with nice amenities. Comfortable bed, coffee pot and even your own tea pot with special tea bags in metal boxes to select from. Bathroom had nice bathrooms. Wonderful place to stay.
Review 70:room in cabins a little bit dark
Review 71:Location, cox bay , main room, restaurant, sand bar bistro And fabulous fish burrito, atmosphère, surf club, lots of Space on cabins
Review 72:Expensive restaraunt with limited options. It's not actually on long beach. Long beach is down the road.
Review 73:Right on the beach. Very comfortable bed. Very accommodating for our 18 month old.
Review 74:Nothing, it's expensive but in this life you pay for what you get. It was worth it.
Review 75:Wonderful location. The cottage was perfect, especially when the weather changed. Excellent cooking facilities. Nothing to complain about, we will be revisiting.
Review 76:Price but you pay for the view and location Bad cell coverage
Review 77:Big room with a king bed and amazing view!
Review 78:amenities sometimes not fully replenished. cost high, service should be perfect
Review 79:as above
Review 80:King sized bed could be softer and candles incase of a power outage
Review 81:Would like to have an ocean view room next time.
Review 82:The restaurant was amazing and and so was the staff
Review 83:Nothing
Review 84:Spectatular setting, beautiful clean room. Great service, great food and surprisingly affordable.
Review 85:The outstanding warmth of the young staff impressed us very much and was much appreciated
Review 86:The restaurant was phenomenal. An unbeatable location The staff were all great
Review 87:You definitely need a car, as only one taxi in town and no buses,
Review 88:Excellent location, everything about this place is fabulous
Review 89:Just disappointed there was not enough interest from other guests to have the boat go out.
Review 90:Being close to the beach and the comfy bed.
Review 91:the view was amazing and customer service was exceptional
Review 92:The staff go out of their way to make sure your stay is amazing. The food was incredible.
Review 93:First few nights we had a room in the basement, the room was small, felt like you were in a dungeon.
Review 94:Location was very nice, right in the beach.
Review 95:Very poor wifi
Review 96:Great staff, great food, great location and beach
Review 97:Lack of high speed internet access and inadequate bandwidth for the number of users was really difficult

Review 108:There's nothing not to like , the place is fantastic. If you haven't been there, go.
Review 109:Friendly staff greeted you everywhere. Extra touches made the 10th anniversary memorable
Review 110:Too far distance from the town, and all rooms need an ocean view at $200 +
