Reviews for Schützenbach Backpackers & Camping / Hostel
Review 1:Very helpful staff. Had broken my shoulder while skiing. They took me with all my tons of belongings ;-) to the main train station in Interlaken, app. 20 km. distance, just for free. Thanks a lot. For sure will go there again.
Review 2:The heater in my room was not working ???
Review 3:The room was so comfortable and i get the great mountain view from my room..The wifi connection was good and the lady from the receptionist was so helpful..The place was so relax and we enjoy at this hostel..???
Review 4:The coin operated laundry machines weren't the greatest. Also, the front desk didn't sell detergent so we had to walk to the coop next to the station (15 minute walk) just to buy it
Review 5:The staff were friendly. We stayed during the off season so they actually upgraded us to 2 2 bedroom dorms with access to free showers upstairs. This was a nice surprise!
Review 6:The room we got was awesome! The room has a great view and its own facilities (showers etc.), it's spacious, comfortable, all in all, great value for money. Excellent staff, very welcoming, friendly and kind, they even offered to help us out when we had some car issues. They are great people! For a hostel the conditions are excellent, it's a no frills and very pleasant place to stay, and the extra charges are minimal. Highly recommended for backpackers, campers, students and mountain people :)
Review 7:We had a privat 2 person room, which was so nice and comfortable. It was the first hostel this trip that I've walked into and said ''it smells so good in here.' The staff was extremely friendly and helpful!! The entire stay there was better than I could've ever anticipated!
Review 8:Awesome facilities! Lady at reception went above and beyond helping me, comfiest beds! Best views from every angle, super clean! So much info about all the adventure activities available, Would go back in a second!
Review 9:The staff were very polite & friendly. The location of the hotel is excellent from where you can enjoy the greatest views. We loved it. Would stay here again.
Review 10:The campsite was a little noisy on a few evenings. However, the campsite and the listing made it clear that it would be noisy on occasion and we knew what to expect. If you are alight sleeper I would suggest you use ear plugs.
Review 11:The location and the facilities were excellent. A fabulous stay and we will definitely stay again!
Review 12:Nothing to complain.
Review 13:The location is amazing, very close to the main waterfall and very nice views from the room windows. The staff has been very helpful and ready to assist us with our doubts. It's a good value for money, I can only recommend this hostel to everyone that wants to visit Lauterbrunnen and pay a fair price. There is also a van in which they take you to the train station when you have heavy luggage.
Review 14:if you are looking for quite place then as mentioned on their page as well, book somewhere else. However you can't get this value for money stay anywhere in B.O. I think.
Review 15:Everything was excellent. Staff. Location. Value for money. To be honest we didn't expect it to be that good considering price.
Review 16:The location was great. Staff was very helpful throughout the stay. Even assisted regarding local site seeing and tickets for Jungfraujoch and so on. I would certainly recommend this hotel for your great experience. Thank you.
Review 17:Nothing. Everything was great!
Review 18:The staff, friendly atmosphere, location, great fun bar, clean rooms, loads of fun sitting by the creek drinking cold beer after a day on the mountains
Review 19:As a suggestion for improvement, it would be cool to have some safe deposit boxes with keys for luggage containing valuables. However, any extra luggage can also be kept at the reception and I had nothing to worry about during my stay.
Review 20:Value for money is excellent: kitchen with all facilities, clean showers and toilets, good beds and towels available - for the unpretentious traveler and for a fast and unplanned stay it is great and quite nice actually. Yes, you have to pay extra for hot showers or using the stove, but it's close to nothing, really (like 50 cents). Wifi signal is good and always available, but might not cover all the rooms (it's nothing to worry about if your priority is getting out in nature :) A good vibe, young people everywhere, a bar open in the evenings (also, the noise level issue is exagerrated, nobody stayed up later than 11 or 12 pm while I was there). Also, very nice hosts, always attentive to guests and providing nice recommendations for things to do in the valley. It was a great and affordable way to stay here and have the chance to visit the piece of paradise that is Lauterbrunnen Valley ;)
Review 21:The girl who greeted us at the front desk was really nice and helpful. You can buy bus and train tickets at the front desk too. Overall the place is great for the price, only negative is the parties outside are sometimes loud even late at night, but this is something you are told before going in so it wasn't a surprise to us.
Review 22:When we use shower, kitchen we must pay extra cost, Lauterbrunnen in ten minutes, It's a little loud, wifi is don't working in my room
Review 23:A friendly staff, Good bar, Available to the kitchen, Good view
Review 24:Have to pay to use the hot plates & for hot water in the shower (it's not much and understandable why they do it)
Review 25:Great location and staff are fantastic!! The bed was super compfortable!!
Review 26:Most expensive hostel ever with worst facilities. Tiny fridge for whole campground, no soap in toilets, pay showers that only dribble. It needs some serious investment of basics to bring it up to standard, let alone the outrageous price they charge. You even have to make your own bed and pay to use stove in sorely inadequate kitchen.
Review 27:Staff super helpful and friendly. Location is wonderful.
Review 28:In spite of their stated policy of closing down their bar at 10:00 pm,Camping Schuetzenbach in fact keeps it open until as late as 3:15 am,and appears to encourage the patrons to bellow as loudly as possible. Itremains the worst place we have stayed in four months of traveling barnone, and to boot, they will charge your card even if you don't signthe credit slip. Unless you like staying up and bellowing yourselfhoarse or listening to the same until 3:00 am, I would sleep in a field, under a freeway overpass, or even at the local police station first.'Camping' sucks, without qualification.
Review 29:Wifi was a tad annoying as it keeps kicking you off and making you re enter password
Review 30:Friendly staff, easy to get to location, bus stops right out the front.
Review 31:Not in exact city center, however you can reach the property by 10-15 mins walk.
Review 32:This is a very nice property and located in a very nice place. Completely scenic. Not in exact city center, however you can reach here by 10-15 mins walk. Also you can take bus 141 from station, which stops just infront of this property. Upon arrival you will get a very friendly warm welcome by the lady ( always smile on her face and ready to answer most of your tour related questions ). Check-in time is 16:00 - 20:00 Hrs. However if you come a bit late not beyond 22:00, you can visit the bar for your check-in formalities. Since many young ppl stay here, you will hear a lot of noise sometime, however that doesn't disturb you at all. On our check-out day, the smiley lady at reception, dictated all charges applied during our stay and also to our surprise she gifted us swiss milk chocolate! Which is a very nice god will gesture from her. Highly recommended place and obviously value for money! I will be back for sure :)
Review 33:A bit annoying that you can't get WiFi in the rooms but nothe a huge deal.
Review 34:Cool rooms. Overall it was awesome and the staff are really nice. View from our room was incredible!
Review 35:The staff were rude, and would not let me have a cigarette outside the room and told me I had to go in a field on the other side of the campsite so I did not wake anyone. On one of the mornings a builder opened our door and went to come in, then realising were were in bed. I think they were putting the bunk beds down but we're making a lot noise all day. Only one of the showers worked on our floor, and the other showers you had to pay for. The kitchen was open all day but you have to pay to use the hobs and there isn't an oven. Overall I would not recommend to stay here, I wish I had just spent the extra money and stayed at Camping Jungfrau.
Review 36:The campsite is close to Camping Jungfrau, which is a much better campsite and you can use there facilities.
Review 37:Bus loads of juveniles getting drunk and making noisem
Review 38:Such a beautiful valley, puts a permanent grin on your face. I had the best view from my front deck, looking straight up the valley. The girls in reception were nice and always helpful. The beautiful girl that did my room gave good walking trail tips.
Review 39:A bit noisy at night with partying but to wake up to the amazing views made it easily worth it.
Review 40:Amazing location, wonderful staff. Friendly, helpful staff have us great advice to make the most of our time in the heart of the Alps. Thank you!
Review 41:Crazy expensive for what the accommodation actually is... a bunk bed in dorm-like rooms. you have to pay ontop of that to use a stove or have a shower. the cleaning lady doesn't knock in the mornings but it's Switzerland and the views are amazing so that kind of made up for everything else!
Review 42:walking distance to Trummelbach falls great views found a free shower in on the 3rd floor of the block above the toilets next to the bar cool little river to cool your drinks in next to reception
Review 43:The owner seemed grumpy, but the owning family presence wasn't real enough to make anyone feel properly unwelcome.
Review 44:The people that tended to room in the public hostel bedroom were very open, welcoming, and excited to be there.
Review 45:nithing
Review 46:we travelled with our two year old child, we did book for double bed month earlier and when we checked in, surprising this lady with smile hand me key for wooden chalet (free upgrade) considering baby's comfort and perhaps convenience for other guest too, anyways, we did enjoyed as if our doubled dream holiday,
Review 47:Because they sale train tickets to Jungfrau, they can't help your to print your e-ticket. We arrived quite late, they told us to Internet cafe, but they closed. The cooker in kitchen is Fr2 for 15mins. The room is very small
Review 48:THE BED GAVE ME RINGWORM.. and it is hard to sleep because people in the cabins are partying all night. I love to party but I was there for water sports, not partying. I couldn't get any sleep. The cabins are stuffy and hot.
Review 49:It was great location! Staff is super nice! Everyone is so out-going. I would def recommend it if you want to meet a lot of young people and party. Just make sure you tuck in your sheets because if you get in contact with the mattress YOU WILL REGRET IT .. bring shower shoes also..
Review 50:If you arrive late in Lauterbrunnen due to unexpected circumstances - better go to bed hungry... About 22.00 it is impossible to have anything except for a drink. In the hotel there is a guest kitchen, actually, and if you have got some food products, you can cook them;-) If not - have a drink at the bar and go to bed.
Review 51:Perfect location Clean Not far from train station
Review 52:The wifi was shotty at best, had to re login every time you open your phone. The washer/dryers were expensive and the checkin/out times were very strange.
Review 53:We had an amazing view from our place, everything was clean and there was a sink in the room. The showers were pretty good too.
Review 54:Only two of the washing machines were working and it took a while to get my money back from the broken one..
Review 55:The dorms have a lot of floor space so you don't even feel like you're in a room with 13 other people which is nice!
Review 56:The ladies/men's rooms could have been separated.
Review 57:The receptionist lady was very helpful and accomodating. The place was a great value for the money and since we stayed there out of the season, it was very quiet. Room was simpe but clean. Free WiFi and parking. Recommended.
Review 58:Remote location Far from train station Bed not comfortable Everything cost money (Shower, Cooking, etc...) No security locker Reception closed at 2200
Review 59:Cheap Full internet access Great view
Review 60:love being in Lauterbrunnen and this campsite when we arrived the lady who greeted us was very helpful and explained what he could do here in lauterbrunnen, visited Lauterbrunnen I found absolutely beautiful with its 72 water falls, a wonderful Swiss village with its beautiful landscapes, wonderful wengen, and loved Jungfraujoch. My room was very clean, simple but beautiful tastefully decorated, the lady of cleaning was always clean, everything very clean this campsite, also had a lovely evening in the bar was a lot of fun with really fun people, found it all very well and I will return soon, thank you for sympathy all of you ...
Review 61:Easy check-in even though I was late due to missing my train. Staff was very helpful! WIFI IS FREE! The dorm room was nice and spacious with compfy covers. Had a great time in the bar! Crazy place! Will definitely be back soon with a group of friends!
Review 62:Great staff that were friendly and helpful! Good location in the valley. Bus stop outside campsite.
Review 63:the shared bathroom is quite at a distance from our room
Review 64:good value for money and suitable place to stay with a group of friends.
Review 65:no wifi in the room, room is cold as heater not working, needs to pay for hot shower(not even hot) and for cooking.
Review 66:cheap
Review 67:Costs a lot of money to cook
Review 68:The view is very nice and the kitchen appliances are complete.
Review 69:My only problem with the experience was the fact that there was no lock or key required for my dorm, anyone could have walked in at any time
Review 70:Nothing
Review 71:Everything
Review 72:they charge too much for the stove and they don't even work properly.
Review 73:the location and the rooms and staff
Review 74:Bar wasn't open on both nights we stayed.
Review 75:Location
Review 76:Staff were lovely
Review 77:The wifi didn't quite reach our room.
Review 78:Inexpensive. We were worried about the noise, but it turned out to be okay.

Review 85:the situation is perfect in the lauterbrunnen valley;
Review 86:None.
Review 87:Great view.
Review 88:Not wifi service in rooms
Review 89:It has amazing veiw of mountain. Overwhelming and awsome in the every SWitzland!! I love lauterbrunnen!
Review 90:bad WiFi
Review 91:Good location. Economical. Well connected to city center by Bus, walking distance from Rail station. Smiling staff ready to help.
Review 92:No wifi in room but reception only. There is only one socket in a 4 beds room.
Review 93:Clean , friendly staff, cheap
Review 94:The location
Review 95:too far away from the station
Review 96:everything is very nice.
Review 97:Great location, everything was so clean and exactly what I expected. Will definitely stay here again!
Review 98:Comfy bed! They warned us about everyone at the bar being loud all night but we could barley hear it!
Review 99:Good set up, basic but all you need. 15 min walk from train. Staff very helpful, friendly and spoke good English.
Review 100:The reception is not open between 11:30-15h
Review 101:the staff was very helpfull, the views
Review 102:The location was amazing; Lauterrbrunen is a beautiful place. Everyone was extremely friendly, the facilities were clean, WiFi worked great.
Review 103:Everything are excellent!
Review 104:Everything are excellent! The owner are the best.
Review 105:Heater didn't seem to work.
Review 106:The view and location
Review 107:Hotel is quit , awsem plase , very very helpfule girl & gentel
Review 108:Steady coming & going of Top Deck tour groups might not be to the liking of independent travellers. Be aware of the distance from the train station, it's a bit of a walk with a heavy backpack.
Review 109:We originally booked a double room with a shared bathroom, but due to an admin error, were upgraded to the private 3 bedroom chalet - with a fully equipped kitchen. Beautiful views of the snow capped mountains from the main bedroom window.
Review 110:Have to laugh really because i was told no smoking and to be quiet after 10pm (i consider myself as a mature reserved person)...well my window opened level with the main outside stairs where all smokers decided to stay so had to keep it shut (cloud of smoke) absolutely no privacy...main passage way to showers toilets and laundry so very very noisy .. Poor judgement on room allocation, perfect room for smokers, drunks the ones who dont give a damn ...As for passport holding quite a sad welcoming ...actually the lady at réception should learn that friendly word called ..... Trust.....
Review 111:The toilet is not near the room. And you should pay for nearly everything in the hostel, such as hot water for shower, electric in the kitchen.
Review 112:The surrounding is very nice! When you go out of the room, you will see a fall! The location is OK, just beside the bus stop.
Review 113:Too small room for 4 people. Wifi doesn't work in my room even though you have to pay for it every half an hour, only accessible near the reception.
Review 114:Great location for Jungfrau sightseeing. Very clean bed linen but you have to cover the bed for yourself.
Review 115:You had to pay for everything, they'd cheaped out on soap in the toilets and soap shelves in the shower. The staff were rude and there was no lock boxes even thought the dorm had 16 beds in it.
Review 116:The location was beautiful and the bar was fun if not a bit touristy.
Review 117:Check-in and out is a problem after hours. After hours you are supposedto pick-up your key from the bar, but it was also often closed early ornot open, so not very reliable. No breakfast option available.
Review 118:A great, budget friendly place to stay in Lauterbrunnen, which islocated below Wengen and Muerren that are much more expensive. Abeautiful, little Swiss town nestled in the valley.
Review 119:Nothing.
Review 120:One can take a young family of four to one of the most beautiful regions in the world (lauterbrunnen was the inspiration for Tolkein Lord of the rings) for a skiing holiday that doesnt cost the earth. The rooms are great: - safe, warm clean and cosy with fantastic duvets!. Whilst the bathrooms are shared this is Switzerland - they are as clean as an operating theatre! Great bar, ski bus right outside accommodation, shop communal kitchen handy for town. . It really is a great little find. This place would put a lot of expensive ski hotels to shame where in the past I have paid 5x more for accommodation. We stayed in 2 rooms next time we will book a little chalet. I would recommend it to anyone. Great spot.
Review 121:That we had to leave for work on Sunday.... But we have already booked our next weekend!
Review 122:Love this place! Amazing value for money! Stunning views, great staff and best bar ever!! Big thanks to Deb's + Chelsea for a fun weekend
Review 123:The check-in only from 8-10 am and 4-7 pm, so it is not convenient for us since we arrived at 11 am. The location is a little far away from the train station, although there is bus every 30-min. No restaurant is nearby. Anyway, it is just a place to sleep.
Review 124:Cheap
