Reviews for Hotel Scala by Cambremon

Review 1:The bathroom was not cleaned well, I.e. toilet not flushed properly and hair in the bath and around the sink. Staff informed of it changed toilet tissue for a new roll but didn't do anything with cleanliness.

Review 2:The staff was very helpful otherwise and breakfast was varied and very good quality offered from 6.30-10am. The room was spacious and very comfortable with a lovely patio view. The location is very convenient within walking distance to San Telmo and centre.

Review 3:No plug sockets in the room other than the one beside the door, which was very far from the bed. The shower leaked a lot of water onto the bathroom floor. A lot of water. The bath had no stopper so if I wanted to have a bath I would not have been able. The sound from other rooms was very audible. As well as hearing other people do just about anything, e.g. moving curtains, I became very conscious of the sound when I watched TV, which meant I felt unable to watch. The area the hotel is found in is not nice by any stretch of the imagination. I was a little disappointed when the hotel restaurant was closed on New Year's Day. It is, of course, completely understandable that the staff are entitled to this day off but I had to walk for 35 minutes to find any store that was open on that day. If other stores were open then I would have been absolutely fine, but this oversight by the hotel was an inconsiderate inconvenience. The wifi was very slow in my room on the second floor.

Review 4:The room itself is lovely and for what I paid it was tremendously good value. The facilities look great. The duvet is lovely.

Review 5:Staff did not offer much assistance. There was construction on floor above which they denied. Tried to charge for breakfast that we didn't have.

Review 6:Clean comfortable room.

Review 7:Very convinient location. 10-15 min walking distance to north Centro, Plaza de Mayo, etc... And south barrio de San Telmo. Room was very clean and beds super confortable! If I,m back to the city, I would defenitely come back without any doubt. Place to recommend!

Review 8:The staff we encountered were rude and unhelpful. We had a bad feeling from the beginning when the receptionists spoke about us in Spanish (assuming we couldn't understand - we could) saying 'oh these are the ones with the voucher'. So it seems they don't appreciate those who book special offers. It then got worse - we got terrible service the one time we used the restaurant; there was a pair of old socks in our room; and my husband got shouted at by the concierge when he tried to bring me medicine. Would never go back and don't recommend. Such a disappointment as we booked it based on the 'Fabulous' rating on here!

Review 9:The rooms are fine and lobby/general areas impressive.

Review 10:There was nothing bad...

Review 11:General environment was very good, making me feel much wellcome... Very clean, breakfast very good even if without excessive range of food, staff very friendly and service minded... Excellent... Like the old Cambremon but bigger...

Review 12:Checkout is early at 10am. Late checkout was not available despite several inquires (at checkin and again on the day of checkout).

Review 13:Room was huge with two queen beds, table, 2 chairs and wardrobe with safe. Bathroom was spacious with a huge soaking tub / shower.

Review 14:Although my room was comfortable, it was quite austere and I could clearly hear noise from other rooms and the housekeeping station, which was near my room. The floor could have been a little cleaner and my room was not replenished every day with bottles of water (bar fridge) and tissues.

Review 15:This hotel was in a good location for me, on the edge of historical San Telmo, walking distance to Microcentre and close to a subway station. My room was large and the front desk staff were helpful.

Review 16:Facilities are a little tired, no swimming pool and the 1st floor solarium looks very dated. the gym is just a small room with a few bits of equipment on the 9th floor. Breakfast buffet adequate but no variety day to day, orange juice was very acidic and eggs often cold having been cooked much earlier.

Review 17:Good location close to the metro, large spacious rooms, wifi, helpful English speaking staff. Some decent restaurants nearby (like Gran Parilla).

Review 18:Experienced the staff as maybe a bit square at time. Nothing bad to mention, they did their job, but not really went the extra mile so to speak. Don't arrive at the breakfast late since they used to start taking things away already 15min before the end. When checking in we realized that breakfast was not included in our rate. Asked for a deal for the week, but got a quick answer, "No, it is not possible" (?).

Review 19:Very nice hotel. Good standard. Very clean. Nice rooms. Nice location.

Review 20:Check in night staff said we could check out 1 hour late. Next morning said only way we could check out late was payment of additional fee.

Review 21:Nice facility.

Review 22:The hotel staff had the worst attitude I've ever came across with. We booked for one night at the begining and wanted to stay for another one after our plans changed. We asked to book a room for one more night and had to wait until 4 pm until we got a positive answer. In the meanwhile we had to put our bags in storage and every time the staff saw us we felt like we are in welcomed, especially when they tried to get us get our staff out of storage everytime, like they forgot we asked to stay for another night. Eventually they gave us a room, when we got in the room we realized it was room for disabled people which they didn't find right to mention. After a few hours in the room we noticed that the ceiling was covered(!) with little mosquito flys, after asking to change rooms they gave us another disabled people room. So bottom line we felt realy unwelcomed at this hotel, really poor feeling.

Review 23:The hotel and rooms are nice and big, the breakfest was good

Review 24:No problems.

Review 25:Excellent location to walk everywhere in Centro area, easy to grab a cab or bus at the door. Lots of places to eat a short walk to Av de Mayo. Staff where very helpful with arranging a city tour and airport transfers.

Review 26:Hotel location location close to some very marginalized areas. Wise to leave all valuables at hotel and be very aware of surroundings when visiting San Telmo area.

Review 27:Lovely lobby.

Review 28:It would have been perfect if the hotel offered Kleenex and washcloths, but those were minor.

Review 29:Front desk staff were all extremely helpful and accommodating, and gave excellent recommendations

Review 30:A pool/spa would have been nice, but didn't really miss it.

Review 31:Really amazed at this hotel, esp for the price we paid. Really handy for San Telmo, which has great restaurants and bars and the market in Sunday. Staff were very helpful. We actually stayed here twice as we had problems with our flight and had to head back to BA. Would recommend the rooms on the top floor for the view and for being a bit quieter.

Review 32:Pillows need improvement; provide more than 2 per bed, thicker & softer. Bar & breakfast costs not good value. Some sketchy characters in neighbourhood, notably around Independencia subte station.

Review 33:Impressive lobby, nice patio. We appreciated late checkout (3 hours past regular time)

Review 34:Quoted price - add 21% for taxes. Breakfast was fine but 12 days without any variation is a bit monotonous. Wi-fi free but really painful - repeated breakdown and poor connectivity. Had to go into corridor to get connected. This part of San Telmo is not very nice - busy main road, broken pavements, very poor area. We felt safe, even at night but locals warned us against straying into adjacent districts at night.

Review 35:Comfortable room, well-appointed. Extremely helpful reception staff - especially good helping us when my wife had a dental emergency. Hotel location OK - very close to Subte (metro) and lots of taxis around. Easy walk to tourist spots in San Telmo.

Review 36:A dirty cup on the table during breakfast. When asking the staff aboutsome activities, they always suggested private tours. Not much effort tounderstand portuguese and explain thing slowly. Some ants on the floorof the bedroom.

Review 37:Excellent location! Near the subway, between San Telmo and downtown. Abit expensive, but the hotel is top! Big bedrooms, the shower is great!Really good breakfast. The restaurant is expensive.

Review 38:Hotel is a 15 minute walk from city centre.

Review 39:Very spacious & comfortable room. We had a great view of Avenida de Julio from our bedroom window.

Review 40:Very much a business hotel. Price of breakfast is extortionate.

Review 41:Good price and location.

Review 42:No tourist maps or similar information.

Review 43:Clean comfortable rooms. Good restaurant and bar.

Review 44:Great location, nice restaurant, nice rooms

Review 45:Big problem with water pipes, dirty water in bath/sink

Review 46:Location Breakfast

Review 47:great value formoney, good locality and ery good, clean rooms with plenty of space and very good helpful staff

Review 48:Old school lifts, great wifi, nice balcony

Review 49:Wall had lots of scratches, walls could use a paint touch up.

Review 50:Staff friendly, clean room.

Review 51:Nadaa

Review 52:Todo en general

Review 53:The breakfast didn't have enough healthy opinions. In the room it took us 10 minutes to get warm water.

Review 54:Very big and clean rooms

Review 55:La ubicaciòn, a 5 minutos a pie de la estacion de metro.

Review 56:breakfast nothing to scream about

Review 57:large spacious room, nicely appointed furniture, comfortable bed

Review 58:With two exceptions, the front desk staff was not very willing to help.

Review 59:Nice room with a balcony and view of the court yard.

Review 60:The furniture in the garden is filthy

Review 61:Rude and inattentive staff

Review 62:Excellent variety of the breakfast buffet and the professionality of the people..A big 10 to Luis at the reception.

Review 63:Missing a bar for evening for example.

Review 64:All.

Review 65:The restaurant needs improvement.

Review 66:Very clean, friendly helpful staff

Review 67:Really class hotel, lovely rooms, good views (from 8th floor), lovely shower, very clean, extremely helpful staff, convenient location for San Telmo

Review 68:Elevators were constantly in a state of repair.

Review 69:Staff was excellent. Close to good restaurants and Subway.

Review 70:Nothing.

Review 71:Kind staff (hello to Lucas), excellent location, nice view on the largest avenue of the world, good restaurant.

Review 72:Everybody was friendly and the hotel was clean and the food was good

Review 73:nothing.

Review 74:this was a great hotel, with a nice cost x benefit. Close to a subway station, did not require taxi for most of the places.

Review 75:one of the receptionist was a little rude, but it's kind of argentinian style

Review 76:delicious breakfast, good location, cheap.

Review 77:breakfast was poor, with limited choice of sweet and salty food. very few fresh fruit. No fresh fruit juice. It's s a four star hotel but bedding was not changed every day, despite the kindness of the housekeeper. reception staff could habe been more affable

Review 78:location strategic, just 50 meters from Independencia underground station, near San Telmo. Restaurant was good at good price.

Review 79:Internet sucked, just like one year ago when I was there. It was impossible.

Review 80:Very nice property. Spacious, clean, comfortable, everything works. Very good breakfast.

Review 81:It's a twenty minute walk to the end of the Soi (road) to get to Sukumvit. If you can put up with that it's excellent.

Review 82:I review hotels and the service industry for a living and make this a retreat of mine between flights and review destinations so it has to be good. Apart from the frequent changes of staff, one of whom checked me into a room that was already occupied. This apart hotel is worthy of its high ratings. The rooms are large, comfortable, impeccably clean and well priced. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. The staff are Thai polite and usually excellent. Well done the management and staff.

Review 83:I can't think of a single thing.

Review 84:What a fantastic hotel at a great price through booking.com. Great location, fantastic rooms and lovely staff who spoke great English for those of us challenged when it comes to speaking spanish. Also a good spread for breakfast and again fantastic rooms. Huge with nice views and very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

Review 85:The only drawback to the Scala is location. It is very conveninet to the San Telmo market and public transportation, but it is away from the microcenter with all its restaurants and shops. The area seemed safe but it is a bit rundown.

Review 86:We recommend The Scala Hotel. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and very attractively decorated. The rooms are large and have all the amenities we wanted except that the TV channels are in Spanish and we would have liked to get the news in English.

Review 87:Wi Fi was a bit spotty in our room but otherwise ok through the rest of the hotel.

Review 88:Location was good and the service was excellent, clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast buffet was better than average giving us a different choice every morning. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone based on value alone.

Review 89:The floor cleaning had never been done for 4 days while we were staying. The clerks at reception need to be kinder.

Review 90:It was like a bonus from a tiring travel. The hotel was cool, clean and well organized and the room was spacious and comfortable. The morning buffet offered various dishes and was delicious. We could book it relatively CHEAP price thanks to the hotel promotion. It couldn't have been better.

Review 91:It was a little too far from the micro enter.

Review 92:Excellent room, clean, good breakfast, great service, not too far from downtown, but a short taxi distance.

Review 93:The room and bathroom were both large. The room had french doors openingto a view over the city and the Scala outdoor patio below. The room hada table and two chairs. There are many restaurants very close to thehotel so you don't have to travel far (especially when dinnerisn't until 9 pm or later). The subway is only a block away. Thestaff was very friendly and very helpful. I would definitely recommendthis hotel and stay here again.

Review 94:Breakfast cost too much compared to what they offer. From an Italianpoint of view quality of food and variety offered is not excellent. Theposition is good but if you want to go to the best restaurant in thecity you need to take always taxi to arrive to palermo and recoletacity part.

Review 95:Kind Staff , confort of the room: big space big bed and bathroom.Cleaned and beautiful architecture.

Review 96:My feet got dirty from walking around barefoot in my room. I had dinner on the night of the10 of September and it was AWFUL, the steak overcooked and the veggies a soggy mess.

Review 97:Everything except

Review 98:Nearby buildings. Not many cafes nearby.

Review 99:Very clean. Everything was upgraded. Rooms are large enough to make you feel that you are not confined to a hotel room. Very good soundproofing.

Review 100:Scala was a wonderful place to stay, the staff was warm and friendly and accommodating to our poorly-spoken Spanish. The price through booking.com was unbelievably inexpensive for the high caliber and lovely accommodations we had. We used Scala in Buenos Aires as a jumping point between the cities we travelled and so stayed there on 3 different occasions within a 2 1/2 week period, and each time it was like coming home. The rooms were clean and had every amenity you could want. We highly recommend booking through booking.com at Scala.

Review 101:The wi-fi went out almost an entire day on our floor but the staffoffered to switch us to another floor. Virtually every restaurant orpublic place had it, so we declined. We had no real complaints ourentire stay.

Review 102:Cleanliness, price, hospitality, and the hotel restaurant servesgreat food.

Review 103:Maybe only the breakfast, although very complete, was a little bit too expensive.

Review 104:Efficient staff, clean, well-ubicated, it's a very good choice and also a good value for the price I payed.

Review 105:Service desk has a bit to go but were accomondating. WiFi could be better. Restaurant needs improvement.

Review 106:The hotel appears new. The room and bathroom were of nice size and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Excellent value.

Review 107:Small things like the staff at reception were not massively friendly orattentive - they weren't rude, they just weren't exactly jumpingto help us with our questions. Also the location was a little too quiet- it was in a handy location to explore city but I personally would nothave walked back at night alone without my husband - however daytime wasfine and there was always a doorman at hand to get taxis if required.

Review 108:This was our first stop on a trip to south America and was a great hotelto base ourselves in to explore Buenos Aires. The room was spacious, clean and quiet.

Review 109:Wouldn`t normally eat in any hotel we stay in. However due to wifestreatment, Had a chop suey in the restaurant. Service was excellentChop suey like none I had eaten before. So unlike a chop suey itmade us laugh.

Review 110:Staff were helpful. Wife was poorly, they sorted a medico who was onsite in 45mins.

Review 111:I stayed one day between flights. The room was comfortable & clean & the hotel was centrally located.

Review 112:Breakfast is very bland.

Review 113:Rooms are excellent, staff friendliness depends on the person not every staff is friendly.

Review 114:Breakfast could be more rich on vegetables

Review 115:Very friendly and polite staff Big and luxuriuos room

Review 116:The desk staff could have been more friendly, they were rather surly.

Review 117:Internet was slow :( Therefore it was difficult to work.

Review 118:Great rooms and service

Review 119:no negatives

Review 120:Well run hotel

Review 121:They did not know what a wash cloth was. That would have been nice.

Review 122:Very spacious and clean

Review 123:You should have a well equipped gym High speed internet access availabity recommended.

Review 124:everithing is ok,clean, just good things

Review 125:Location, staff was very helpful, value for money

Review 126:The staff was warm and welcoming and the room was very large. Breakfast was abundant! Perfect!!

Review 127:Clean, comfortable, complımentary water, free workıng ınternet, and very pleasant and helpful personal Thank You!

Review 128:everything

Review 129:breakfast staff was rushed; not enough indication (tags) of plates that were offer

Review 130:new, central, very clean, good service of front desk
