Reviews for Hôtel Sainte-Anne
Review 1:Certain staff were not pleasant, there was no security at night although the door was locked we did not feel very safe
Review 2:Spacious rooms, great location, very clean and modern
Review 3:The tap knob on the washbasin falls off.
Review 4:Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Good location, cozy and comfortable room and bedding. Breakfast was simple but adequate.
Review 5:We liked that the hotel included free breakfast. We traveled during winter time and it was nice to have a simple and french style breakfast before headed out to the cold. Staff are very friendly and the hotel is in the heart of Old Quebec City.
Review 6:The first room was next to the elevator, it was so noisy but then I get a nice & quite room. Then I ralize that not all the room standart with their decoration, And the pictures available in Booking.com are only showing the best ones.
Review 7:Not a complaint, a statement. Breakfast was adequate. Don't expect a large hot breakfast of eggs or pancakes. Breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, fruit, yogurt, and your choice of bagel, croissant or toast. Perhaps because we stayed during New Years. Staff was courteous though.
Review 8:Great location! basically across the street from the Chateau Frontenac. Clean hotel.Comfortable rooms. Stayed as a family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters -- no issues with the room size. Made for an ideal spot to explore the city during our stay over New Year's 2016. Would stay again at the Sainte Anne.
Review 9:Parking is offsite so unloading and loading a little more difficult-but adds to the experience
Review 10:We loved the location and the unique room. Breakfast was lovely
Review 11:Great value (especially the breakfast). Small but very attractive room. Very friendly service. Couldn't ask for a better location. Definitely will use them again.
Review 12:This hotel is perfectly located right beside the Fairmount Chateau and is in the center of the old Quebec. The Rooms are very design with the mix of wood, old bricks and modern bathroom and lightning. Really the perfect place for a romantic escapade! Highly recommend it! And price wise, it's very reasonable!
Review 13:There is no driveway outside the hotel. We have to roll our luggages on the rocky ground to the hotel from the side of the block. Rather difficult to locate as it was on a walking ally.
Review 14:Location is good. Bed is comfortable, their room is relatively new. Hotel reception closed at 11pm. We reached at midnight. Was given instruction to access to the hotel at much ease. Hotel breakfast very personalized and good portion.
Review 15:Nice hotel but small things a bit off - bed not properly made, no cover over the boxspring - none of the little things that make a boutique hotel appealing and that justify spending $200 a night.
Review 16:Friendly staff, decent breakfast included in price of the stay, interesting building and room in an excellent location.
Review 17:Room slightly on the small side and parking a distance from hotel so not convenient if u moving large luggage.
Review 18:Small cozy hotel well situated in upper town.
Review 19:Heating unit a little loud.
Review 20:Very unique hotel, in an amazing location. Beautiful room and bathroom. The location and the style of the hotel are the selling point. Would stay again.
Review 21:Staff was friendly, helpful, willing, but inexperienced. Front desk often not manned. Lobby small and not comfortable.
Review 22:The location is the best, room very nice, good restaurants very close by. Close to the Visitors Information Center and the Funicular.
Review 23:The coffe maker'Kureg' didn't work in 310. But I forgot to tell them
Review 24:Perfect location to explore Old Town Quebec. Staff was very helpful finding good food, tours and early morning taxis. Rooms were very comfortable. Breakfast was modest but nice.
Review 25:Parking was not next to a hotel, but 2 blocks away in a garge that costs 18$ (not 17$ as specified with booking). Heavy front door and no-one to open it for you. Free breakfast, but warning! It is not self-service, so portions are rediculously small and "tip" is not includd with a free breakfast!!! Why is paying your waitresses tourists problem?? Pay them enough and stop annoying us with tips at free breakfast!! Coffee was bad too. Room was not spotless as there were hair on bed, towels and floor.
Review 26:Location was really good.
Review 27:The service was impeccable! We received a warm welcome when we arrived! Our room was spacious and had a lot of character. I loved the exposed brick in the room. Our daily breakfast was delicious; we looked forward to it every morning. After checking out, Jonathan, the hotel manager, held our luggage and allowed us to sit at the bar while we waited for our taxi later in the evening. He even provided us with glasses to drink the wine we purchased earlier in our trip. Lastly, the hotel is located in a perfect spot. We walked everywhere we went! We can't wait to return to Quebec City and to Hotel Sainte-Anne!!!
Review 28:The breakfast wasn't completely free, as advertised, as you had to still tip the waitresses. But it wasn't too bad. No cars allowed on the street the hotel was on, so had to roll luggage there. Also our room had a streetlight right outside which made it hard to block out light at night. Large, old windows let out a lot of heat so had to keep the heater going full blast.
Review 29:The breakfast was great, and the location was perfect. We could walk to anywhere we wished easily. Nice and clean, slept very well, which is unusual for me in a hotel room.
Review 30:staff didn't turn up on the morning so breakfast was quite long before going out but they manage to give it to us.
Review 31:room was very nice, location is amazing!
Review 32:We were sorry that brekfast was cold only. The kitchen was closed for the season. That included the small bar, an evening drink would have been nice, some pretzels and nuts??? It was cold out and an after dinner drink or two would have been welcomed.
Review 33:Staff from front desk to housecleaning were friendly, helpful and cherry! The location is 100%, could not be better!
Review 34:The first young lady that was there to greet us early in the morning was very nice and courteous. When we actually got to check in at 3:00, the woman behind the desk seemed very busy and in a bad mood. It felt like we were bothering her... Other than that, AMAZING!
Review 35:Loved the room with fireplace, location, location and location!
Review 36:Initially perceived desk attendant as aloof, but later determined was new. Nothing bad - but she could have been a bit more affable.
Review 37:Location. Room was interesting. Included breakfast was GREAT!
Review 38:They missed cleaning our room one day even though we went to the front desk in the afternoon to say the room hadn't been cleaned. Breakfast was good but very high in sugar and carbs - no eggs, lunch or dinner available at this time of year.
Review 39:Excellent location. We really liked the hotel.
Review 40:Perfect location to explore old quebec. The staff was friendly, room and bathroom very clean. It was our 3rd stay at St. Anne's. We will be back again.
Review 41:Beautiful hotel, full of character and charm. Really well located in the Old Quebec in a quiet street and close to everything. And the coffee machine for a nice coffee early in the morning was welcome.
Review 42:The woman working nights was very unfriendly to the point of being rude, making us feel like we were a huge interruption to her otherwise leisurely evening. The room didn't have the attention to detail you'd expect, e.g. used Keurig cups and a barely functional bathroom sink.
Review 43:Location and price were great, but would rather pay more for something close by.
Review 44:The breakfast was marginal in the off season. The heat was difficult to modulate on our 4th floor room.
Review 45:Front desk helped us in many ways, made outstanding recommendations on where to eat, and the location was excellent.
Review 46:empty restaurant downstairs was a bit weird.
Review 47:great location in Old Quebec. simple but very nice room. good bed..breakfast was fine and the seated service was more civilized than the typical buffet chaos.
Review 48:Excellent value. Breakfast was delicious and included in the price of the room. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is very central for any kind of tourist activities. Fairly easy to access with a vehicle; parking is located at city hall around the corner. All in all, it was a great experience.
Review 49:Very weird design of the room: a glass panel between the room and the bathroom that gives a clear view of the toilet...
Review 50:Great location, close to the main attractions. Very clean and quiet.
Review 51:House keeping did not vacuum the floor as we had a (dry) spill on the floor ( noticeable ) and they didn't vacumm It up while cleaning the room
Review 52:The location, the room , the breAkfast ! It was all good . There was one elderly female working the front desk and it took a lot t get her to speak to us , she had her head down reading , and didn't actknowledge us coming or going
Review 53:Bad windows - let cold wind get in, so needed to use the electrical heating all the time. Old and almost not working hair-dryer. breakfasts are included in a room rate but it's not a self service buffet, you need to order from a limited choice the same every day and the service is quite long (10-20min to get your breakfast), waitress always tells you not to forget that the service is not included....
Review 54:Nice location, spacious room, fine toiletries.
Review 55:It is tough to check into a hotel when you can't bring the car in front of it, so be forewarned that you can't pull up in front of the hotel. Also, the hotel seems to have fallen onto some tough times as the restaurant is no longer open at night, and they don't staff the front desk after 11pm, so don't forget your key or you will be locked out.
Review 56:The location is about as good as you can get. The guest rooms were comfortable and clean. The bathroom was great...we like having both a shower and separate bathtub.
Review 57:We found the room a little cold and the only heater was in the bathroom.
Review 58:The staff were great , the room was clean and the breakfast was a perfect snack to start the day . Enjoyed the shower and found the bed comfortable. Would stay here again .
Review 59:We had problem with the shower. Room was cold.
Review 60:All the staff was very pleasant. After telling the receptionist, the room was warmer but the thermostat did not work properly. Location is great.
Review 61:The hotel was a little cold throughout the entire building and the room (406) did not have any heat on upon our arrival. The mattress was not comfortable and the fireplace as well as the outlets in the bathrooms and on the desk were not working. I do applaud the staff for having fixed the fireplace and outlet in the bathroom relatively quickly.
Review 62:The staff was great! Everyone was very friendly.
Review 63:The heating was not working, we requested to change; it was settled very efficiently to another room. But we prefer the original room which has a much bigger sofa.
Review 64:Great location and good smiles from the service.
Review 65:no room service.
Review 66:Location was impressive. Steps from Chateau Frontenac. Lovely breakfast. Great room. Quiet hotel. Felt like we had the whole floor to ourselves
Review 67:The only thing I didn't like was the room was dark even with all the lights on.
Review 68:I liked the location of this hotel. The breakfast was perfect. It was substantial , tasty, and convenient . The staff was friendly and very helpful.
Review 69:The breakfast was incredible poor and as soon as we sat at the table the waiter said: the breakfast is free but the service is not. It was kind of rude.
Review 70:the location is amazing and there is a paying parking just two minutes away.
Review 71:The bed was way too hard and free or cheaper parking would have been nice.
Review 72:This is the best location, staff is very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable. The hotel is very clean and the breakfast was excellent.
Review 73:Since it was myself and another girl coworker didn't care for the see through shower. Our room was only cleaned the first day of our three day stay. Had to call for clean towels. Shower leaked onto carpet in room so feet got wet. No view.
Review 74:Good location. Nice part of old quebec
Review 75:They gave us a receipt for the breakfast (that was included) so we could calculate the 20% tip to give to the waitress...
Review 76:Great location Attention to details Gluten free options at breakfast
Review 77:Housekeeping woke us on last morning of stay at 8:30 am trying to get into the room. Blankets on bed were all different lengths and difficult to pull up blanket when sleeping. Had to slide down the pillow to try to be covered by doubled up blanket. Luckily we are short enough to do that.
Review 78:Room was very nice and the location excellent. Cold breakfast was very nice and I would definitely stay at the hotel again in the future.
Review 79:television very hard to work and receive English programmes.
Review 80:booked a superior queen room and was very happy. Entrance looked a bit down and small but room was excellent. Big shower and plenty of hot water.
Review 81:Parking is a bit of a pain having to lug all your bags in and out of hotel. Toilet paper and kleenex thin and rough. Used to plastic bags in ice bucket.
Review 82:Great location, close to everything. Great breakfast and presentation. Staff were friendly and accommodating.
Review 83:Breakfast was a good continental one but not as nice as when the kitchen was operating and hot breakfast was available.
Review 84:wonderful location in a wonderful city right by the Chateau Frontenac and the promenade in front of the hotel. A spectacular and unique walled city - a bit of old Europe on the northern edge. My original room was by the elevator but fortunately they were able to accommodate me in a more comfortable room.
Review 85:Our room was not cleaned on Saturday. We had to request clean towels and toiletries which were brought to us by front desk attendant. On Sunday upon check-out we were not in the computer for Room 308 which we stayed in and our deposit credit card statement was attached to another room number. Needless to say we were very displeased with the poor care given to us.
Review 86:The waitress staff and front desk staff were friendly and tried to be helpful.
Review 87:Many of the rooms are small and look onto a small enclosed atrium and the windows don't open as a result we moved to another hotel but staff very helpful to make this happen
Review 88:Hotel in a great location
Review 89:The location of the parking was a little bit of a jaunt from the hotel. It would be beneficial if there was street drop off for luggage.
Review 90:The location of the hotel in the heart of Old Quebec was amazing. We parked the car and didn't touch it for two days as everything was well within walking distance. The hotel staff was friendly and knowledgeable of the area and activities to do.
Review 91:Location was ideal. Staff was helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. Hotel was well maintained and spotless. Full hot breakfast was well presented and well prepared.
Review 92:The restaurant closed early we Arrived at 8p.m. The girl at the desk Gave good directions to parking lot but spoke quickly and difficult to Understand.the parking was a issue For older people carrying suitcases. Coupons for restaurant closed For dinner .
Review 93:Location Cleanliness
Review 94:Room 403 had a vibrating ductwork in the wall, may be part of heating system. Kept waking us up.
Review 95:Nice small boutique hotel right in the heart of old quebec. Close to everything, shops, restaurants and historical sites. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Review 96:Continental breakffast was skimpy and our waitress pointed out that, although the breakfast was free, the service was not.
Review 97:We loved our room and the location just across from the Frontenac. Sataff was pleasant and helpfulContinental breakfast
Review 98:Breakfast was ok but, should have been a buffet Little or no protein for breakfast. A hard boiled egg would have been nice. Little setting area, daily room device very late in afternoon
Review 99:Location
Review 100:It was my understanding that parking was included however we had to find public parking as the Hotel had none reserved for guests.
Review 101:This hotel had an excellent location! Everything in Old Quebec City is easily in walking distance.
Review 102:Asked the front desk to order me a taxi three times. Waited over 40 minutes, and no taxi arrived. Finally, went to a near by hotel, asked them to order me a taxi and one arrived in five minutes. I was late for a presentation. Not acceptable.
Review 103:I requested a crib at time of booking. When I arrived it was not there. I requested it again, came back in 2 hours it was not there. I requested it AGAIN and it turned out they did not have one. All they had was a tiny infant cot... And the hotel is not stroller or wheelchair accessible.
Review 104:Location is great!
Review 105:Will never consider staying there again because of the limited accessibility. The coffee maker had no outlet in which to plug in, several lights were out, the air conditioning didn't work, and they were out of most food items every morning at breakfast. Do yourself a favor and find another hotel.
Review 106:The location is central and convenient but the accessibility is a real problem, being located on a street that has been cordoned off from vehicular traffic. We ended up shlepping our luggage over 100 yards of a cobblestone street on a luggage cart with no available bellboys and no staff to help. At the very least, the management should forewarn people of the major challenge in merely accessing the facility.
Review 107:Liked everything the staff was very friendly and informative the room was very clean and beds very comfortable.parking was easy to find and reasonable
Review 108:Hard to find parking if you travel with your car and is very expensive in some spots. Hotel should have a print with all near by parking options - location/price.
Review 109:The only problem was the windows were permanently closed, so we were forced to use the AC instead of being able to get fresh air.
Review 110:Very convenient within the old town, attractive, and modern, this hotel was perfect for our needs.
Review 111:Inadequate staffing in the morning in dining area. Poor girl was run off her feet and had to deal with disgruntled guests.
Review 112:Loved the location with ready access to sites in old city. Proximity to the very helpful and efficient Information Centre a bonus.
Review 113:This is a lovely small hotel that is completely refurbished. It is inside the city walls and is the perfect location and close to everything. Our room was lovely and the staff very helpful. Parking is available under the Hotel de Ville and the walk is less than a block to the hotel that is located on a pedestrian street.
Review 114:Everything was great except for the service during breakfast. We waited 10 minutes and still no one came to see us. We ended up leaving and eating elsewhere. Another thing that we didn't appreciate was that the staff spoke loudely in the morning.
Review 115:Let's start with the heat! There were six of us and none of us could cool our rooms. After much complaining, the inept staff gave us fans! It was literally too hot to even sleep! Bar poorly stocked. No Chardonnay at all. One toilet leaked so bad that my brother slipped and nearly fell. It was only after serious complaining and demanding to talk to the manager that they were given a different room. Sink so small, difficult to even wash my face. Room tiny. We would never recommend this place.
Review 116:We liked the location, though the staff gave us very confusing and frustrating directions. The location is the ONLY redeeming quality.
Review 117:Very tiny room. We wanted a few extra pillows but they didn't have any extra pillows.
Review 118:Location was perfect!! If you can't walk very far this not the place for you as you have to park in a parking garage and walk to the hotel.
Review 119:Taxis could not access hotel directly. If you had a lot of luggage, it would be a chore!
Review 120:Location was close to the center of the old town, everything was close-by!
Review 121:The heat in this room was very high, had to keep hallway door open to help cool it down. Complained to front desk and nothing was done. Had a hard time sleeping. Bath towels were like sand paper and full of holes.
Review 122:Location, location, location! Modern, very clean. Excellent breakfast.
Review 123:We had superior deluxe queen and expected such. The bathroom sink did not drain. Second day we returned to our room at 3:15 PM for shower and nap before going out. Room had not been cleaned. No excuses and was not ready until after 4. Defeated purpose of staying in city.
Review 124:The location was perfect. The only problem was on a pedestrian street and luggage check in was not easy.
Review 125:I had requested an upper floor room, so we had a room with a slanted ceiling. Neither of us could stand up on that side of the room.
Review 126:The location was across from the Chateau Frontenac and within walking distance of many sites. A full breakfast was included in the price.
Review 127:The bed (although nice with good pillows) was too firm for my back. The mini fridge didn't work (or at least I couldn't get it to work) and the door to get in the room kept sticking.
Review 128:The location is absolutely amazing. I also liked the added benefit of a discount at the restaurant! Front desk staff was very nice. I will stick with boutique hotels when travelling to Quebec City. So beautiful!
Review 129:Great hotel, good spacious rooms, but.... 1. The breakfast is not free (as the hotel claims on their website). You must pay 15% od tax. For the same amount of money go and buy something better in the other café. 2. A card they give you with a 15% off when you order at the hotel´s restaurant is not true. 15% does not apply to drinks and plates. Only to some dishes from the menu. 3. When you check-in they charge you 100$ more. The amount they refund you at the end of the stay. Who do they think you are? A robber? Not a nice treating. PS. All Quebec "French" is not so nice. 5 minutes at any French little town is cheaper, more friendly and real than Quebec.
Review 130:Guests aren't permitted to unload or load luggage at the hotel entrance. Vehicles are not allowed on rue Saint Anne. We had to drag our suitcases about a block.
Review 131:Excellent breakfast with the room in high season.
Review 132:First night there was NO HOT WATER Room was very cramped with a dangerous step between the bathroom and the bed. Lots of sharp corners to bump into.
Review 133:Location and service from staff
Review 134:Fantastic location! It is located a few doors down from the Tourist Information and tour departures, a block from the funicular, and across the street from the Chateau Frontenac. FYI--the hotel is on a pedestrian street. That makes it quaint and quiet, but you have to roll your luggage down the cobblestone street about a half a block.
The Fine Print
Please note that Hôtel Sainte-Anne is located on a pedestrian street and that cars are prohibited in front of the hotel. Underground parking is available with surcharge at City Hall underground parking.
