Reviews for Hotel Cheribourg

Review 1:Was not very clean at the pool section indoor and the room a bit. We went on a Sunday for two nights the Monday everything was closed the outdoor poor , the outdoor bar service was a bit slow. But we had a great time

Review 2:Was ok not more than 3 stars

Review 3:The townhouse we were in had a great floor plan (2 beds upstairs, with a TV and living room downstairs), but it felt pretty dates. More importantly, the wi fi did not work at all in our unit. And the air condition did not work well - all hot or all freezing cold, very loud, with no middle setting.

Review 4:Friendly staff. Amazing kids room; I have never seen a more wildly fun set up for kids. The indoor pools were nice and super warm (we did not try the outdoor pool, but the slide looked fun!) Very pretty grounds and surroundings, and the petting zoo was a huge hit with our kids (...until a goat peed on my daughter's foot; but, eh, goats, no surprise there.). Magog, North Hadley, etc. are nice places to visit and a fairly short drive away from the hotel.

Review 5:The room key had not been keyed, so it didn't work when we checked in - had to return to main building/front desk. Also, the air conditioning was very loud and not very effective on the second floor of the loft/unit.

Review 6:It seemed like it would be a fun place to stay with a family. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night.

Review 7:Not a big deal but, had to drag our suitcases through the rain up a long flight of stairs to get to the reception area?? Who designed this setup?

Review 8:Nice place, good location near nature trails and skiing, good highway access. Located in the lovely Quebec Eastern Townships.

Review 9:The room was not close to the the size of what was represented online. The food in the restaurant was OK, far from exceptional. Small portions for the price.

Review 10:Beautiful property, very well looked after.

Review 11:To room was alright. I was there in the winter and found the room and floor in the room to be cold. I didn't know how to adjust the heat but couldn't be bothered to call to check if I could. The bed was only ok. I usually sleep with a duvet and there wasn't one. It felt more like a motel room.

Review 12:I was here for a conference. I was very impressed with the facilities and the food. The food was excellent quality and cooked right. The conference facilities were great too.

Review 13:Didn't have handicap soap available in the washroom (they forget bring it 2 days in a row). They realy need to do some furniture and decoration upgrade! The interior look is more then 15 years old looking!

Review 14:Couldn't get the t.v. station for watching the Montreal hockey game. The room is a bit small. Not enough hooks in the bathroom for hanging towels. Toilet paper was not good quality.

Review 15:Liked having a room in a separate building. Bed was comfy. Room was dark and quiet for a good night's rest. The breakfast menu and service was excellent. The view was splendid!

Review 16:The pool table was wobbly. The pool was unkempt and too small for the hotel. I am a swimmer but avoided the pool. The massage tables need to be sturdy. The recreation room in general needs an upgrade. The place was dirty.

Review 17:The food was fabulous, and so was the excellent service.

Review 18:The check-in was very long and the staff businesslike and unfriendly. The main entrance was also hard to find and the directions to the different parts of the hotel were at best vague. The wifi was not available in the "far away cottages" and the room was dated. Carpeted rooms in today's allergy clad world is just cruel. The check-out is too early which makes it hard to really relax, wake-up late and enjoy the site if you're there for a single night. You can check out and still stay to enjoy the site, but you have to figure out where to change back into clothes from your bathing suit, for example. Also, the bathroom water system was complicated to start and we had to call front desk to have a plumber come and show us how to use it. On the plus side, he was there in less than 5 minutes, still it would be nice if a pamphlet of some sorts was available to indicate proper use. The AC was facing the bed directly. It was loud and too direct which made it uncomfortable to sleep. The restaurant was nice and faced the outdoors pool, however breakfast ending at 11 is kind of early for people who are there without kids and woke up from a night of partying, say they were at the hotel for a nearby wedding. The fee was hefty for a breakfast buffet which was on "last call" - what's left is what's available because it's a quarter to 11. Bacon was scarce and people walked in AFTER us. With kids ! So I can only imagine how they felt. The restaurant staff also made us feel like they just wanted to get rid of us ASAP. Last is the charges, the restaurant fees were correctly charged on my Visa the same day, but the hotel room was pre-approved for 100$ more than the real charge and it took over a week for the fee to be corrected on my bill. That was frustrating since I had to call the hotel twice and my visa customer service too.

Review 19:The hotel was resort-like, which made it seem cozy and secluded. The rooms were spatious, the hide-a-bed was decent and the kitchen fully fonctional. The pool, hot tubs, meeting rooms and the whole "kids zone" blew our minds off. We found it to be very family-friendly and it had lots of activities for the kids. The salt indoor pool was another nice discovery and having an outside hot tub on top of the indoors one was an added bonus. The room also had a jetted bathtub we could have chosen to use, which was nice.

Review 20:Dining room staff were not very friendly and were in a hurry to get rid of us.

Review 21:The grounds are very pretty. Our room was very comfortable. Love having a restaurant on site with good food. It is mainly families staying there so lots of activities for them.

Review 22:We have booked with breakfast included they didn't agree but theprice payed (taxex included) was o disproportionate to the quality oftheir services included ( we had no right to park our car near to ourroom because they had 2 wedding hosts who occupied our place.. And soon) . So they should have offered breakfast even though not include inbooking. Com reservation (very strange)

Review 23:As our rooms were located at the other ends of different floors, the wifi quality was quite poor (but good in common areas).

Review 24:Location, comfort and amenities were very good

Review 25:The reception staff does not know well enough about the specials booking.com has to offer. Reservation by phone almost cost us $70.00 cdn more then by booking online with booking.com.

Review 26:Staff very efficient friendly and helpful. They spoke fluent English. Unfortunately we do not speak French. Dinner was excellent. The room was neat, clean and comfortable. We plan to stay there again.

Review 27:When we checked in, we had to tell the hotel that the room rate was for booking .com rate rather than $200/night. They gave a room with a single queen bed rather than two queen beds as indicated in the hotel's confirmation. The room was clean but was not a 'garden view' by an stretch of the imagination.

Review 28:not much

Review 59:The pool area was clean and the little lake beside was charming.

Review 60:We stayed here last year also, and will book again next time we pass through

Review 61:small exercise room ,

Review 62:price

Review 63:Pricey for what you get

Review 64:Grounds were nice

Review 65:Waiting staff at the restaurant - distant at best ... rude at worst.

Review 66:Breakfast Buffet Room Bed Shower

Review 67:Sauna and hot tub closed if outside pool open Poor greeting by the front desk

Review 68:Location Family friendly

Review 69:We were told the restaurant was going to be closed but we would get a continental breakfast. The next morning they opened the restaurant and paid $40 for a breakfast that was good but in our opinion way overpriced.

Review 70:The spa. The massage was wonderful.

Review 71:Rooms are a little dated but always very clean

Review 72:Front desk staff very helpful and communicate well as my french is extremely poor . Third time staying onsite restaurant food quite good as well as affordable.

Review 73:beds are too small. two doubles does not cut it for a family of 4. The hot tubs were not warm enough.

Review 74:Great location, very hospitable staff, the kids area was great! They can't stop talking about the "bouncy castle".

Review 75:They were doing major work on the exterior wall of the hotel which started very early and our room was next to it. In view of the size of the hotel a room away from the work could have been given or the work could have started a little later. There was no mention of construction work when we booked the room.

Review 76:The restaurant staff and food was very nice.

Review 77:Internet connection was choppy. Having to park away from the room isn't ideal in minus 29 Celsius weather.

Review 78:Room was quiet, and property was easily accessible.

Review 79:I like that you kid's corner have all the necessary things to play (ping pong balls etc...) There was a life gard at the pool. The room was large and clean, no dust.

Review 80:The staff wasnt very friendly. the breakfast wasnt included in the price as I thought it would, and the price was very expensive.

Review 81:I liked the fact that the rooms are accessible from outside, which makes means more privacy.

Review 82:It wasn't a hotel, it was a holiday park for families. Bad, overpriced food Bad Spa Bad massage under used facilities Appallling transportaion

Review 83:I loved it! I was there a few years ago for the spa. I was looking for a place with an indoor/outdoor pool to bring my daughter, as my husband is away on business. She is 11. ANyway, we loved the pond with the ducks the most!!!We spend most of our time there. The brunch was great. We loved the petting zoo because we were able to be so close to them. Being in nature with llamas, ducks, a hot tub pool, good ffod, close to all shops, not far from beach. WHat is there to say. I guess the only thing my daughter was disappointed in was the game room and the fact that she could not go into the inflatables and the room seeing too young. But I guess it is hard to find a balance? You even had video games...so that made up for it. All in all, a great experience. Thank you

Review 84:The room was a bit small, but well appointed

Review 85:The staff was friendly and efficient and the dining room was excellent. Very quiet setting with all the comforts and very close to 2 golf courses.

Review 86:We often come to Magog but this was our first visit to the HotelCheribourg. We liked the cabin style rooms and lush gardens. It wasvery private and not like a large, generic hotel. Unique setting andgood value.

Review 87:Conveniently located close to the National park, highways and, other picturesque little towns. The hotel itself was very good in all respects. We wouldn't hesitate recommending it to other people.

Review 88:The room was very tiny. The folding door in the closet didn't work. There was 1 small bit of soap for two people for the shower and thesink. It was a very difficult place for me to use my cane as there werenumerous stairs, no ramps and the car could not be pulled up anywherenear the room. This made getting luggage in very difficult. The only on-site food options were very expensive so one had to drive 5 or 6kilometers to get something to eat. When the hotel hosts conferences, itcan be very loud, noisy for other guests.

Review 89:For the resort type area it was in the rooms seemed to be areasonable rate.

Review 90:Kind, beautiful

Review 91:Breakfasts are too expensive...

Review 92:Tranquility, calm, possibilities for make breakfast at room. and take our grandaughter for the night.
