Reviews for Refuge Du Poète
Review 1:We love this place for me and my 2 puppies. It's convenient shops and a nice area to walk the dogs. The staff is wonderful a pleasure to stay here.
Review 2:If you have a car and not familiar with area, finding parking space maybe a problem. Ask the staff for advice.
Review 3:The location is right in the middle of Old Longueuil. We had had many nice walks around this lovely neighbourhood. The b&b is totally cat-friendly. Our cat was so comfortable. The host and staff are great people, they are very helpful if you don't know the area. We do not speak French, and we had to make some phone calls. They even made phone calls on behalf of us. It is a quiet, clean and comfortable b&b. There are many other nice things about the staff and people.
Review 4:The Owner is living under the same roof and we stay in a room right next to their living room and kitchen. There is not enough privacy.G
Review 5:It is closed to downtown Montreal and freeway.
Review 6:Until everyone has finished with bathroom, a little noisy with traffic to and from especially if you want to go to sleep before 11pm.
Review 7:clean and confortable location
Review 8:It's a little far from downtown MTL but worth it if you're looking for a super quaint home.
Review 9:The Decor! What a beautiful home! Also the free parking!
Review 10:Le Refuge de Poete is a fantastic little place in Place Longuille. I definitely recommend staying here. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They helped us find places to get food and drink. It has a very rustic feel with stone floors and wood support beams. The back yard has a nice sitting area with a nice garden and pond with a fountain. Will definitely return next time I'm in Montreal.
Review 11:The bed was rather small and there was no air conditioner in the room. It got very warm at night. The house is quite old and the floor is uneven in places.
Review 12:Excellent breakfast, very welcoming hostess. Good location - quiet yet close to the city.
Review 13:I really did like the house and the decoration is fantastic. Very rustic style including field stones and antique wooden objects. They carry an aquarium with three big turtles. The room was very clean and the bead comfortable. There is a charming yard at the back were you can sit and relax. Very located ! Two thumbs-up :)
Review 14:Sound travels. Very little separation between your space and others.
Review 15:the atmosphere is fantastic, and the ground floor room has everything you need. The house is gorgeous, and perfect for any history buffs.
Review 16:It is an older building so the rooms are quite small. There is one shower servicing three rooms which was a bit of a juggle. However there is also a half bath on the ground floor. We were there in a bit of a late August heatwave so the biggest negative was that both rooms we stayed in were warm at night. The first one (with private bath) was hot and there was no supplementary fan. The second one upstairs was much cooler but I still slept with out a sheet to be comfortable.
Review 17:The house is unique and quaint. It is just of the village square so it was easy to find a place to catch a bit to eat or have a drink. Parking was a breeze even though it was on the street. It is a 20 minute walk or so to the Longueuil metro station that then gets you to wherever you want to go. There is also parking for a fee at the station but we never felt the need to use it! Will stay there again!
Review 18:Bathroom door didn't close completely, you need to use a small latch to keep it close and even then it moves a bit. Caused a bit of a jumpscare in the morning!
Review 19:Fantastic neighborhood and very calm. Lots of great restaurants around with a very relaxing vibe all around. The owner is extremely polite and caring, she helped us move around and was very attentive. Wi-fi service and coverage was good. Bed was very comfortable, though a bit noisy. The shower was very good.
Review 20:Not much - we had a good stay.
Review 21:The location suited us very well because we had a free pass on public transport. We may have not been so pleased if we'd had to pay the $3.20 single trip bus fare for the relatively short (15 mins walk) trip to the metro, which we sometimes did several times each day. There are many good restaurants and food outlets a short walk away and they are not tourist-oriented. The bed was comfortable, although it was small. It was very quiet.
Review 22:The location is good - just a short bus ride or a 20 min walk from the Longueuil Metro. The house is enchanting and the room I stayed in absolutely comfy, it has everytjing needed for a great stay. Very nice and helpful owners. Would highly recommend to others.
Review 23:Comfortable, charming, really nice staff. It was quiet and very clean with an interesting cozy cottage decor.
Review 24:Louise is a very nice lady. Good location.
Review 25:The location is great for my purpose of visiting family in the Old Longueuil
Review 26:It was wonderful all the way around
Review 27:Localtion
Review 28:Quiet neighbourhood, simple accommodations , room was clean I would go there again
Review 29:Floor in room slopes and the bed'so headboard was on the downhill side
Review 30:Personal service of owner. Great home cooked breakfast
Review 31:Pretty heritage home, nice hostess, good location in Old Longueuil.
Review 32:Nothing
Review 33:Quaint 160 year old building, excellent breakfast, friendly staff, smallish bedroom, shared bath.
Review 34:Nothing major. The house is a bit dark, but the room was fine.
Review 35:Charming stone cottage in middle of village. Plenty of cafes and stores within walking distance. A nice change from downtown Montreal. Very easy get in to Montreal, over the bridge.
Review 36:The place is rather haphazardly run and it is an interesting buildingthat deserves better. My particular experiences do not necessarilymatter because it may very well be that other guests will encounter adifferent set of oddities to reduce the pleasure of the experience. Onething, though, is the issue of breakfast, which is only offered inseason and I was there in mid-November, very much out of season. I wasthere on a Sunday morning and there were no good restaurants withoutsearching farther from the Refuge that I cared to go. Breakfast was notavailable allegedly because the owner works afternoons and evenings, butsurely something could be worked out to enable some sort of breakfast tobe provided, as least a self-serve one. In that vein, my room containeda decent sized apartment refrigerator in which it would be easy to storethe fixings of a self-serve breakfast if one wanted to do so. Also, whenI opened that fridge, it contained only (I counted them) 25 bottles ofwater. So you can see that there was quite enough room for some juice, butter, yoghurt, etc for a breakfast.Another thing is that the place needs some gardening attention. The parking space I used was good sized, but after putting a car in it more than half the remaining space was blocked by branches from overgrown plants on the property and these overgrown plants also blocked half of the neighbouring city-owned sidewalk that guests need to use to get from the parking space to the Refuge’s front door. The same non-existing handyman needs to fix the arm on the chair I sat in on the front porch (to await the owner who was not there when I arrived at the agreed-upon time), because the arm simply fell off as I sat down and I was later told that it has been broken for some months.
Review 37:Comfortable bed. Interesting decor. It was off season and so I had aparking spot on site. It was quiet vis à vis the exterior but there wasa bit of noise from the owners/residents.
Review 38:Not to mention the beautiful decorations of the interior, the amenities were very well prepared for the guests. Everything was there -from hair dryer to ladies' sanitary products. The fridge was full of bottled water, and the coffee table was filled with assorted tea set. We were deeply impressed with such a thoughtful touch. Definitely will stay another night next time. For the price? You'll find yourself lucky once you see the place.
Review 39:We assumed that we would be given the option of breakfast when we arrived. Howvere, this was not mentioned - in fact, on arrival the landlady herself was not there. It worked out for the best as we were able to try local cafes for superb food. The rooms are a bit dark.
Review 40:Nice place, helpful host, location - particularllythe brilliant local French cafes restaurants - excellent food unlike the city centre. Also pleaseure of getting to city centre via 15 min walk to ferry .
Review 41:Bit noisy as ensuite room located downstairs next to other guest bathroom and kitchen.
Review 42:Good location for visiting Montreal as close to ferry terminal but, unfortunately, ferry was only operating at weekends.
Review 43:The place is pet-friendly. However, due its smallness, it could not mask the animal odors.
Review 44:It's a lovely quaint little house with beautiful artworks.
Review 45:We loved the exterior of the Cottage, but were amazed at the interiordecor, filled with beautiful artifacts. Louise created an amazingbreakfast, served with her wearing a traditional French costume. Shelistened to our ventures and we listened to her'S. Will be back forsure this is a 5 Star Plus Plus venue. Thanks again Louise, waht aspecial Lady you are.
Review 46:We were moved to a different room for our third night. The security onour room was uncertain since the door could not be locked.
Review 47:The quaint atmosphere made our stay a pleasant one. For our purposes thelocation was just right.
Review 48:Refuge Du Poète was wonderful. The accommodations were very comfortableand there was parking in back of the house in a driveway which was veryconvenient. We travelled with two dogs and they enjoyed meeting the cutelittle Shih Tzu who lived in the house.
Review 49:maybe I did not notice it addressed in the add but no breakfast? doesn't b & b infer at least a continental breakfast? for the price, maybe that was asking too much.
Review 50:clean
Review 51:Unfortunately no breakfast available but I understand that it's low seanson. I rated poor cleanliness because of dust, spider webs, after a 2 night stay, bed not made and towels not changed.
Review 52:The lady running the B&B is very nice.
Review 53:The home has a great atmosphere and lots to offer within walking distance.
Review 54:Louise was so hospitable and accommodating to our needs and diet restrictions. Abilidad de conversar en enspanol es un gran beneficio.
Review 55:I love it... this place has a vintage decor and it is a very nice and welcoming place
