Reviews for Hostel Trotamundos

Review 1:Breakfast was just bread and jam with a toaster, but the fresh fruit was very nice. The place wasn't spectacular, but it's a good price for the place, cheap, easy and clean.

Review 2:The staff was great and always with a smile. The rooms were a good size and came with a fan and window. Shared bathrooms were clean and tidy with warm water. Communal kitchen was nice. A nice wind came through making it breezy and open ambiance.

Review 3:The second room we were moved to had no wifi. Best if you speak Spanish... Shared bathrooms can be overwhelmed.

Review 4:The landlady is very warm. Nice fruit for breakfast!

Review 5:Very basic hostel. Location to airport was very good.. Only $4 USd cab ride to airport. Sketchy neighbourhood. Excellent value for the price but it is best suited for overnight place to sleep, en route to airport.

Review 6:this is very basic accommodation It will depend greatly on who else is staying if you get a good nights sleep. I stayed in a double room with ensuite. You can hear everything that is going on outside the room. Fortunately the night I stayed all was quiet. To get there ask for the central park. Go to bottom of quare with your back to the cathedral two blocks to the right then turn left about fifty meters

Review 7:We were only there for one night, so nothing really to speak badly of - a nice hostel, with all usual facilities - just like all hostels (i have been to, anyway!!) no windows, so rooms always a bit like a cell!!

Review 8:Good central (but not too noisy) location Friendly - common areas fine Town is friendly and had a 'real' (not touristy) air about it - all modern Costa Rica life goes on here!!

Review 9:Poor cleanliness, the owner is unfriendly and leave here with her familly (young girls). The town has really no attraction and everything closes at 6PM. We had no hot water and no Wifi, bed were un confortable. Maybe the worst place we stayed in Costa Rica.

Review 10:Very close to the airport (5 minute driving)

Review 11:Bathrooms and showers are simply stalls outside, but was adequate. Breakfast was not great.

Review 12:Location, airport shuttle (but only to the airport, not from), and staff were nice.

Review 13:The kitchen falls short as it does not have a range for cooking on, only a ho plate thing. This is my major complaint but it is workable and the friendly staff make up for it.

Review 14:The staff are wonderful. They gave us helpful directions on where to go, they got us a taxi and arranged for other people in the hostel to share so it would cost us all less, and they even tried to help us take our bicycles apart while we were packing them up for the flight back.

Review 15:No seats on toilets. Cold showers. Big roaches running wild in kitchen at night. Portions of roof missing and banging around at night.

Review 16:Staff was pleasant. Convenient location.

Review 17:The hostel has a kitchen, but don't try to cook anything because it's not possible without stove or oven. The promised free shuttle is only for people who have a private room. I was in a dorm and so had to take the public bus to the airport.

Review 18:The hostel is only a few blocks away from the busterminal and a 2 minute walk from the centralplace. The staff is really friendly and you get all your questions answerd. Quiet spot and comfortable beds.

Review 19:Our room was right next to the street and it got very loud because of traffic.

Review 20:Best WiFi service out of all the hostels we stayed at on our trip to Costa Rica, even worked in our room!

Review 21:So... I wanted a cheap hotel to kill some time before my flight. Simply put, for 10$ a night, it's not worth it. For 10$ you get a small bed in a 6 beds dorm room in the middle of the hotel, next to the living room and the kitchen with walls that seemed to me to have the power to amplificate every sound in the hotel. Don't try to go to sleep early, you won't be able before everybody in the hotel goes to sleep. (on the plus side, the bed is quite comfortable to turn and turn until everybody is sleeping.) An other thing that dissapointed me: no toilet seat. I was surprised. You are now aware of this. TL;DR: cheap and noisy hotel not worth the price. Trust me, you are better paying a little more to have a decent hotel.

Review 22:The hotel was nicely placed within the city and relatively close to the airport.

Review 23:We were given room 8. Room 8 has a wall that does not go to the ceiling, so you can hear everything in the hotel. I assume you can be heard too... Hint hint. Although, it was not a super loud place.

Review 24:It was clean and they provided us with a free ride to the airport. It was everything we needed for our last day in Costa Rica.

Review 25:Weak WIFI

Review 26:Really close to centre.

Review 27:The wall of the room didn't the ceig so you it wasn't verate ourreachedthewasourveryvate room.

Review 28:The first hot shower since weeks :)

Review 29:plumming neets attention

Review 41:Excelent stuff Nice location

Review 42:Wi_Fi

Review 43:Staff

Review 44:Was on a quiet street no noise on a saturday night...clean room...good price

Review 45:We got sick after eating the food at the breakfast.

Review 46:Shuttle was a joke, only for a private room in which I had.also theshuttle only ran 4am to 11 am room was not worth $30.electic shower wasnot good,it was a waste of money plus the bed was horrible.i only rentedthe room till 9pm because I was waiting for a flight

Review 47:It was clean

Review 48:No place to lay clothing or set a suitcase - even a chair would have been nice, no hooks anywhere to hang anything up, no windows in the room, poor ventilation.

Review 49:Well, there was a clean bed and a bathroom, with the standard hot water shower head thing that worked okay and a fan - those are good things.

Review 50:I had reserved a private room with private bathroom for my travel partner and I, supposedly with a view of the garden for $32. The garden is really just a patio area, but I didn't really expect too much. I showed up at 11:00pm after traveling 15 hours to get there. They knew that I was coming in late. My partners flight got rerouted, so it was only me. I was put in the only room left which was a dormitory room with no bathroom at the front on the building. The room that is in the pictures. The windows were broken out, and it was super noisy from the street. I barely slept even with earplugs and being exhausted. They still charged me the full price saying that I had a private room, only because I was the only one in it. I should have been charged the single rate of $12. The private room that I had reserved was in the back, off of the terrace, which would have been better. For $35 you can get a much nicer & quieter place to stay within a block away. I'm not hard to please, but I was really disappointed. Sorry.

Review 51:The hangout area, kitchen and terrace area was nice to have. The internet/computer was easy to use.

Review 52:Booking was messed up-we had reserved room with bathroom but were givenone without bathroom. Slightly overpriced for room without bathroom.

Review 53:Clean, good free airport transfer and breakfast.

Review 54:Very noisy, especially early in the morning. Cleanliness was a problem. Much appeared to be in need of repairs or slapped back together after it broke. The neighborhood is not the best and I would not recommend this place for anything but a quick stop while waiting for a bus or plane.

Review 55:The staff was friendly and it is close to transportation. Good for stopping overnight on your way somewhere else.

Review 56:Noisy early in the morning. The free airport shuttle is only to the airport and only from 4-11 am. Noisy waterpump in the garden and no hot water in shower. The terraced outside area is in front of toilets.

Review 57:Very friendly and helpful staff. Kitchen and computers with Internet. Close to busstation, airport, volcano, central plaza and supermarket. Excellent place to base yourself for airport and volcano visit. No more time is needed though.

Review 58:The hostfamily was fantastic!

Review 59:the staff was so friendly. he answered all our questions and in the evenings we had guitar music from a local who lives at the hostel.

Review 60:Lock on door did not close properly, door and light switches could be cleaned.

Review 61:Shuttle to airport

Review 62:It was dirty Staff were rude They knew nothing of our booking when we got there late at night!

Review 63:Nothing
