Review 1：My friend and I booked this hotel wanting somewhere near the beach and a little luxury for 3 nights over Christmas. I wasn't sure about the location before travelling to Brazil but the pictures of the hotel looked great and just what we were looking for. The stay was just perfect, the staff very friendly and helpful, having a little more Portuguese would have helped me but there are staff that speak English too. The hotel is clean, a lovely little pool and bar to relax, very peaceful and calm feeling from the moment you walk in the front door and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts are buffet style and had a full verity of Brazilian treats. On Christmas eve we were invited to have a Christmas dinner in the hotel that was also buffet style and delicious I wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is well located off the main street that is full of shops and restaurants.

Review 2：Price is excessive during summer season. For USD 300 USD/night, I would have expected a LOT more.

Review 6：Reserved one deluxe and one standard room. The deluxe room was smaller than the standard room and impossible for us to stay iin with a baby. When we complained we were moved to a triple room (which was still only the size of the stanard room, with an extra bed taking up quite some space). Walking around we saw plenty of excellent large deluxe rooms, but apparently we were unlucky. Slow service during breakfast.

Review 9：Beautifully decorated, all details throughout the pousada made us very welcome (like fresh flowers). Loved the cozy lounge area, inviting beds with top quality linen, the scent, the restaurant and mainly, the staff. Location is excellent, walking distance from 'vila', Projeto Tamar and beaches.

Review 17：The staff is very good. They really want you to feel pumpered in this hotel. Breakfast is extraordinary. Freshly made things are being offered besides a great variety on the buffet. The setting of the hotel is very beautiful. The rooms are small but tastefully furnished.

Be ready to pay extra 10% "service charge" on top of room price, which I presonally consider a rip-off. Fitness area needs a major replacement of equipment, nearly nothing working.

Review 64：We stayed at 9 different places during our 22 day WC trip and this was easily the best. The whole design of the place helps get you in to a relaxing holiday mood (ditto for the resort of Praia do Forte itself which is very pleasant to stroll out at night, with it's many bars and restaurants). The room was very spacious and comfortable, the breakfast very extensive. We eat in one evening, actually outside by the poolside. An excellent meal. I would highly recommend the establishment and it's also well suited to families. It is about a 90 minute drive from Salvador, but an easy drive.

Review 75：The hotel is about 100 m from the main street of the city and from there another 100 m to the main beach and the turtle park. It also offered free parking to us. The hotel is in a very safe area (generally Praia do Forte is safe) and someone can walk freely at any day or night time. The hotel is beautiful and has a very nice structure, garden and a decent sized pool. The rooms are beautiful (not very big though). Everything is clean, quiet and professionally organized – best we have seen in Brazil. They serve a good breakfast and an excellent dinner. Definitely worth to stay in the hotel for a few hours to relax at the pool. We walked by a few other nice hotels in the city, ours seemed to be among all the nicest. The reception speaks several languages (English is not a problem). They were supportive in organizing trips (e.g. to see the whales). We also had a rental car which broke down and caused us some trouble with the rental company. The reception staff was again extremely supportive and supported us with Portuguese for at least 1.5 hours. Finally we forgot the charger of our camera. They were mailing it to us (Europe) for no charge. Background of our trip: We stayed in “Praia do Forte” to explore the beaches north of Salvador. “Praia do Forte” is a cute, little town 1.5 hours north of Salvador. It is very touristically, but the city is very nicely done and a great hub to explore more remote beaches up north and still have the comfort of good and clean hotels. Praia do Forte is probably the only city in the coast segment 250 km from Salvador up north where you find clean hotels on a 4 star+ level. We are a couple in the mid 30s and did a 3 weeks trip across Brazil. Generally we stayed in 4 star level hotels. This hotel was one of the best of our trip. Go for it!

Review 80：Very minor things - there were a lot of mosquitos but no repellent at the desk for guests to use. The food was a little slow, but more than made up for by how good it was. To note: We used Praia do Forte as a base for going to Salvador. With traffic, it took 90mins-2 hours to get into Salvador, so its probably not a great base if you have small children as too much time is wasted travelling. But its a lovely holiday destination in itself, anyway.

Review 81：It was an excellent pousada, fantastic room with main bedroom and attached second bedroom for a family with three small children, beautiful food and a great pool. Close to the beach (not right on it, but a walk away with toddlers) and close to the turtle sanctuary which was a big hit with the children. Excellent facilities for children (a whole room with baby equipment, outside playground, plus a table of toys near the eating area and a room of videos to borrow - all very thoughtful!) Also plenty of areas for people without children to enjoy peace and quiet too. Highly recommended

The staff was extremelly helpful and kind, they set up the things like I wanted (table by the garden for a romantic dinner) and prepared nice surprises when we got back to the room. Great breakfast, with many fresh options; a swimming pool that sometimes is better than the beach and a romantic environment. Pousada Refugio da Vila will remain in our memories forever, thank you all that were part of it!
