Reviews for The Yellowknife Inn

Review 1:Wifi was poor and the elevator was poor. Our friend stayed at Days inn and the hotel and facilities are new and in better shapes compare with ours.

Review 2:The location is great. It is very close to the main street, restaurants, and super markets.

Review 3:bad noise insulation (can hear the noise outside the room and nextdoor), a little bit messy(the location of the hotel is convenient but because it is right in the downtown of the city, there is a weird and aggressive woman in the mall next to the lobby)

Review 4:location, staff

Review 5:The thermostat in the room was broken and the temperature in the room was 27 degrees Celsius. We could not sleep. After several requests to get this fixed the only response we got was "oh they didn't come". And finally when someone did show up their response was to open the window. As the room faced the main street and was quite noisy, this was not an option at night. The staff was friendly but completely clueless. The hotel overall is shabby and the mall it is attached to is completely run down. We would avoid staying here at all costs in the future.

Review 6:Proximity to conference we were attending.

Review 7:sagging, old & unconfortable bed. very small window, poorly insulated, i could feel a cold draft of air coming in

Review 8:friendly staff, free plentyfull parking, next door to the mall

Review 9:Access to parking area for early morning flight meant walking around entire building in the snow. Daytime access through the mall, but closed outside of mall hours.

Review 10:Great breakfast option.

Review 11:Little parking available around the hotel.

Review 12:Comfy clean beds, good sized bathroom with clean tub, was able to arrange late check out due to illness, quiet room on back side of hotel.

Review 13:window handle was brocken I told to front desk. but it was not repaired until leaving that inn. So I can,t ventilate One Stand light does not work. And I waited for 2 hours to check in

Review 14:From the moment of arrival the service was very poor. We had booked 2 rooms. They could not find the second room. It took 1/2 hour to check in. The tv did not work, would not change the sheets on the bed.

Review 15:We booked the hotel tree months ago, but when we checked in the receptionist told us they could not give us what we had booked and the room rate gave us was not the rate as we booked.

Review 16:The cooler/ air fresher (I am not sure what exactly it is.) is extremely noisy. The brand is Haier from China. We manage without it operate as we arrive in September. With it open, you have no chance to fall asleep. Hotel shall change for other silent brand. In long term, hotel shall renovate with the machine incorporated in wall instead of a separate unit on floor.

Review 17:The staff at front desk always try to help solving the problem encountered. Good attitude in solving issues.

Review 18:The rooms are way too hot. the temperature averaged 26 degrees. The room near the elevator and the vending machines is terrible, vending machine, ice machine and the elevator bell kept me awake the entire night.

Review 19:Close to everything and clean

Review 20:It is right downtown and there is a walk signal that beeps every 2 min whether there is someone there or not all night. They did not have my reservation when I arrived late at night and I had to push hard just to get a room. They had multiple no shows but would not give me one of those rooms even though it was midnight already. Also it is an old building and the heat was cranked up so high it was suffocating. (25c all night)

Review 21:Understandably the location with people hanging around out front is undesirable and made my mom nervous going in and out of building. No security working the lobby. Desk clerk was trying to do her job and security in early morning because people would wander in and have to be escorted out.

Review 22:Staff went above and beyond to make my elderly mother comfortable. They wouldn't even take a tip. Thumbs up for staff.

Review 23:The room was hot, dark and noisy, bed was very soft, pillow was even softer. No a/c, and only a tiny window that opened just a few inches, plus a noisy tabletop fan mounted on the wall. It was not kept clean on a daily basis, but was vacuumed occasionally (bathroom was very clean, thankfully!).

Review 24:The staff were great - especially the manager, Jess. Some didn't seem to know how to do much, but they were willing to find the answer. Housekeeping did a good job answering requests as well.

Review 25:No parking outside. Everytime i stayed i got a ticket.. I didnt want to park underground. There was homeless people always hanging around the buildind bothering.

Review 26:Downtown location

Review 27:Asked for milk in our room as we drink tea, not coffee and told none available. Only about half the room servicings were the teabags replaced We had pre ordered breakfasts, different wait staff told us different things about what we could have, pre buttered toast is disgusting!!!!!

Review 28:Location and price

Review 29:Close to a shelter, so sometimes one gets approached for food or cash.

Review 30:Basic but clean and comfortable. Very central location. Free shuttle to & from airport.

Review 31:stayed 2 nights both on booking. com at 2 prices $50 difference and hotel would not adjust Hotel in part of town noisy at night Parking on street because hotel lot was too close to questionable bars and public drunks on street

Review 32:Large room

Review 33:Inside was OK - staff friendly. However, initial impression was not great- there was garbage at the front of the hotel that wasn't cleaned up in the three days I was there. The front entrance area did not looked cared for and could use attention/upgrading

Review 34:Great assistance provided by Megan at the front desk; comfortable room

Review 35:The staff were inadequately trained and unable or reluctant to help when my luggage was inadvertently not dropped off by the airport shuttle. I had to wait until the next shuttle - over an hour. The security guard was the person who tried the hardest to help No local eateries on Sunday, other than Boston Pizza. The hotel restaurant is closed on Sundays from 2:00 pm and not open until 7:00 am on Stat holidays. Only 2 trolleys for luggage. Street doors locked early evening so the drunks don't come in. Shall I continue?

Review 36:It was clean

Review 37:I wouldn't say it was a bad experience but I found the rooms were very dated and the beds were old.

Review 38:Location was good and the restaurant that was located in the plaza had friendly staff.

Review 39:The hotel is in a convenient location, the staff were very helpful and professional, the bed was very comfortable and I slept well. Also the Internet was fast compared to other places I've stayed.

Review 40:The physical building could use some TLC/repairs, but was kept clean

Review 41:Good location, price was right, staff were all lovely and helpful. Free shuttle to and from the airport was convenient.

Review 42:I did not like asking things repeatedly. I did not like check outprocess for instance charging the damage deposit in my visa beforecheckout process.

Review 43:One housekeeping staff took time to assist me.

Review 44:I didn't like that the balconies weren't accessible and that my window couldn't open and how there was no air conditioning but a fan mounted to the wall.

Review 45:I liked the location and the friendliness of all the staff.

Review 46:When I get to the hotel they started of by giving me three different types of price for the two days. Then they gave me a room with wires hanging out of the wall and construction stuff all over. Then when I was checking out. They charge me twice for deposit and when I caught on the staff trying to get mad at me. I will never stay at this place again

Review 47:The beds aren't very comfortable and the wifi really isn't good at all, but the worst things about the hotel are beyond the control of the proprietors. If you're on the front side of the building, there is a lot of noise from the street outside, and the crosswalk sounds play constantly until about 2am. It's impossible to sleep. There are frequent parties in the hotel, so there's noise on the floors, as well.

Review 48:The staff is really lovely.

Review 49:Very hot room! No air conditioner in the room at all! And the window is closed and we can't open it at all! Very poor we opened a fan while the outside temperature was -6! What a joke?????

Review 50:Central location

Review 51:There were some loud guests in the hall outside our door (2:30-3:00am ish). The hotel said it was guests returning from an aurora tour but it sounded more like a bunch of drunks trying to find their room. Only 10-15 minutes, no big deal!

Review 52:The Inn is well located in the heart of downtown. All downtown attractions (including the Museum and Parliament are easy walks from the hotel. Other guests have commented on panhandlers being an issue - we had no problems - there were some down-and-out people around but they did not hassle us. The room was totally adequate, service was good and the hotel provided us with reserved underground parking for our rental vehicle (I understand they only have a limited number of spaces - if these were gone we would have had to park on the street.

Review 53:The hotel is old and lots of things do not work properly. The heating in the room for instance. The first room we had was very small for a suite and noisy as it faced a main road. The second room we had was much nicer but the heating did not work and it was missing a hair dryer, phone and light bulbs. We were supplied with missing items when we asked for them. The house keeping was poor. They did not vacuum at all or replenish any toiletries. I had to get them from the cart myself.

Review 54:The location could not have been better. Central for everything in Yellowknife. The staff when we had issues worked on solving them quickly.

Review 55:Service is not good. The room facilities is very simple, and room could not be cleaned every day (seems luck of cleaners).

Review 56:Good location, located in downtown and near the Information Centre. The hotel is located in a Mall, so it is convenient for eating.

Review 57:you have to go through the mall to go into the packade. Imagine you have a few pieces of luggage. At night time you the mall is closed and you will have to go out the hotel and walk to the back of the building to get in the packade.

Review 58:Heated underground parking is free

Review 59:They lost my booking. Somehow even though I definitely booked in February and have the confirmation to back it up, their records showed a booking for January, and they labelled me a no show. They were happy to book me in freshly, however their wifi network was also down which was a deal breaker for me. Ended up booking in at the explorer which was a huge improvement

Review 60:Staff were very friendly. Free wifi, free airport shuttle.

Review 61:It was very inconvenient to have not WiFi for a 5 night stay. There were no other WiFi opportunities. I am a frequent visitor to Yellowknife and will NEVER stay there again.

Review 62:Location

Review 63:A bit of a cigarette smoke smell in my room and bathroom ,but this is just nit picking, and I didn't even make the hotel staff aware of this.

Review 64:Convenient from the Inn, to make arrangements with aurora village - for aurora viewing. Hotel is centrally located in Yellowknife. Free Hotel/airport shuttle service. Very accommodating and friendly hotel staff.

Review 65:Wifi had intermittent outages. The hotel is expensive for the quality.

Review 66:The location is conveniently at the centre of the business area. It is a good hotel for a short stay and has an airport shuttle.

Review 67:We have already booked a double bed room but they only had single room ,therefore, they gave us a cot which was unsafe to sit at the end of the cot. For the breakfast, they had only provided fee breakfast for one person, ( because the room type),the other one needed to pay for themselves. We needed to ask the frontdesk staff in the morning to get the bronchure for the breakfast with the rude attitude.

Review 68:I wanted to take a nap to see the aurora for the night but hotel security guys kept knocking on the door of the room which was right across the hallway of my room. They kept knocking on the door like 5 times like every 5 minutes. A security finally knocked on my door to check if I smoked in my room. I think they really have to call me first to ask things like that. I almost fell asleep but had to wake up for that. It was a bad experience.

Review 69:The hotel shares the parkade with the mall. So after the mall is closed, we've to go outside the building to get our cars which is too cold & too far.

Review 70:I was there two days and mentioned that I had no Wifi in my room, theysaid they had called a tech but nothing was ever resolved. The tv in myroom only had 2 working channels and all the rest were froze. I wasnever offered a new room or discount. Highly unsatisfied this time and Iam usually happy to stay there.

Review 71:I didn't like how locals just hang out near the hotel. The place ain't a hang out place to hang out.

Review 72:Well renovated, but need in rooms because of the forest fire smoke. not just a fan. Can this solution be fixed?

Review 73:Oppressive heat in the rooms, no air conditioning.Poor fan positioning to vent the room to outside , Really need AC in the hotel rooms...

Review 74:Location Windows open.

Review 75:Fantastic and friendly staff

Review 76:The staff is very kind.

Review 77:Very convenient location, the room is very comfortable and warm. Free wifi has a good coverage. There is a large parking lot at the back.

Review 78:One house keeper was unkind to us.

Review 79:vending machines not working properly

Review 80:Didn't Ike the look of the place from outside.

Review 81:I really liked the staff

Review 82:There was no advance notice of fire drill. There was power interruption during our stay.

Review 83:heating too hot

Review 84:central location; clean room

Review 85:too many idle people outside the hotel and they smoke and talk loudly the bed was not comfortable

Review 86:in city center and connected to the mall

Review 87:noisy air refresher

Review 89:The bed of double room is a little bit small.

Review 90:The toilet is very large. And the room is tidy while no air-condition.

Review 95:No breakfast on site

Review 96:Great staff, nice location

Review 97:Shuttle to airport

Review 98:Friendly staff. Located within walking distance to pretty much everything.

Review 99:Lost reservation. Peeling paint from the walls in the room. Poor housekeeping.

Review 100:Great central location.

Review 101:There were a lot of rowdy people out on the streets below my room - not that this is the hotel's fault though.

Review 102:The bed was really comfy

Review 103:It was awesome...quiet...

Review 104:Everything starting from the staff.

Review 105:The location that's the only good thing about if.

Review 106:The walls are to thin and noise is a difficulty

Review 107:Centre of town

Review 108:bookings.com messed up my reservations, I almost had to pay more.

Review 109:the fan on the room, comfy bed,and nice staff.
