Reviews for Hotel Magnetberg

Review 1:Breakfast to expensive so we had these in the town.

Review 2:Good location, walkable distance to Baden Baden city centre. Spacious and quiet rooms. Very clean room and hotel.

Review 3:nothing to add, it was all good.

Review 4:Everything, it's not my first time In Baden Baden, I have friends there. My first time in Hotel Magnetberg, nice place and very friendly staff, made me feel at home. can't wait to go back and it will be very soon. Wonderful spa's, and France only 20mins drive.

Review 5:Hotel was clean, rooms were lovely, clean and spacious. The restaurant was excellent. We were a bit worried when there was hardly anyone in the restaurant, but we needn't have been. The wait staff were great, and the food was fresh and tasted absolutely fantastic!! Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Review 6:During one day, I was not so happy with hours of noise of lawnmowers and other grounds maintenance, but at reception, they explained that these came from an adjacent property not owned by the hotel.

Review 7:The staff was excellent, at reception, in the restaurant—the housekeeping staff as well. The facilities were clean and up to date. Excellent internet.

Review 8:Reception and bar closed early and you had to let yourself into the hotel. Not really a problem, but a bit odd in such a nice big hotel.

Review 9:Fantastic room with balcony and view. Great staff.

Review 10:The wifi was only available in the lobby, but we were told this will change soon. Also the breakfast needs some more variety every day.

Review 11:The staff were excellent and did their best to make our stay enjoyable, especially Miss Zoller. Location was very convenient and the hotel has very nice gardens. The restaurant had a nice a la carte choice for dinner and quality of food was good. Thank you.

Review 12:Felt like the lady behind reception was a bit condescending.

Review 13:Hotel was clean and located within walking distant to shops and restaurants. Lovey view of the town.

Review 14:The location is not on the center and the address is very hard to reach by public transportion. The is no complimentary and there is no facilities in the room and the bahroom.

Review 15:He view is good

Review 16:It seems ridiculous, in 2015, that the only freely available WiFi was in the lobby, and we had to login with a different username and password at least twice a day. Very frustrating. Also, a soft drink in the restaurant bar cost 5 euro? Finally, since I was forced to use the WiFi in the lobby, I thought I'd make myself comfortable by putting my feet on the ottoman in front of the chair, and then was told by a staff member of the hotel to put my feet down.

Review 17:No AC and WiFi in the room

Review 18:Friendly staff at reception and restaurant. 5 min walk to Baden-Baden center Located in quiet neighbourhood Clean room and toilet

Review 19:Paid Wifi is not acceptable in 2015 (its like paying for using a TV). Pool was under construction. No airco with (exceptional) outside temp of 38c. Breakfast was very poor. Better to go to the city for breakfast.

Review 20:Nice location. Close to beautiful city center. Rooms recently refurbished. Large, clean room. Large bathroom.

Review 21:The restaurant is good, but sometimes poorly prepared dishes.

Review 22:A beautiful hotel, a lot of air, wonderful nature around, views of wooded mountains, the staff is polite. Close to the center.

Review 23:Our only 'complaint' was that there was no aircon but this seems to be the norm in Germany!

Review 24:Hotel was very smart and the garage facility was very welcome! The Hotel Proprietor went out of his way to make us feel very welcome!

Review 25:The hotel had hardly any guests so felt cold and bland. The decor doesn't help, it felt more like a hospital.

Review 26:Terrific location, within walking distance of the hotel are the town centre and lots of bars and restaurants. Good parking and the use of the garage for a small fee. Nice bright rooms with a balcony overlooking the old part of town.

Review 27:Indoor spa pool is closed

Review 28:While the pool is now closed and exercise room really isn't, the room was very spacious, modern and clean. The restaurant was surprisingly excellent, better than Rick Steves recommend la provential restaurant, and cheaper. Lovely garden terrace for dinner in nice weather is above and away from busy city streets. Hotel is 100 stairs above old town and incredible spas!

Review 29:see before

Review 30:The room was excellent. Were disappointed that we had to have breakfast in a conference room on day2 and not outside on the terrace, as a wedding was taking ther later in the day

Review 31:As I became sick I had to cut short my 5 day stay to just 2 days. When I told the hotel manager about my problem she showed utterly no concern whatsoever (a blank stare), only mentioning that there would be a penalty to leave early. The penalty to cut short the visit is understandable of course but such complete lack of human concern was extremely disappointing, matched only by the fact that I seemed to be one of only a few guests, which at 'high' season, was also very surprising. In a nutshell, please think twice before staying in such an unfriendly environment in an otherwise lovely town.

Review 32:We stayed for two days planning a relaxing weekend getaway. Unfortunately there was a wedding party going on in and in front of the restaurant. Our room was located right above it, so It was very noisy and even with closed windows, which made the room very hot and stuffy, it was impossible to sleep. I called the reception to be moved to another room at 24:00. The staff could hardly hear me because it was so noisy. Another room was not available, he said he will tell the DJ to turn the music down. Obviously, this did not happen and until 3:30am the party was going on. We were very unhappy, as this is not good service and even making this room available for booking knowing that a party is planned right underneath is outrageous. Secondly, the lack of air conditioning or fans makes it very uncomfortable in the room, as it was having 30 degrees outside.

Review 33:Great location, lovely view from the room. Nice terrace to have breakfast/dinner or a drink. Newly refurbished rooms, very clean and quite spacious.

Review 34:Nothing bad.

Review 35:I/we loved the Location...Style & Appearance...Cleanliness/daily Cleaning & Linen change...Staff...Restaurant...&, of course The Views, (please be aware, it's up hill when walking back from town, about 10/15 minutes).

Review 36:The walk downtown is short and easy. Maybe 10 minutes. However, the return hike is very steep and all uphill. Allow 20 minutes to return.

Review 37:Location was nice and quiet without being too close to far to walk to the tourist locations. Hotel was spacious and well-managed.

Review 38:The way back to the hotel is a heavy climb up. Kind of oldskool that people have to pay for WIFI on their room...

Review 39:Good location. Nice city and the breakfast was very good to.

Review 40:German staff fulfilled all the stereotypes of German order. No wifi in room....what is this 1998? Breakfast was 11 euro extra.

Review 41:Beautiful old building (maybe hospital) that has been lovingly restored to a hotel. Super efficient staff fulfilled all the stereotypes of German order. Lovely, park like grounds with the only sounds being the songs of birds. Room and bath beautifully remodelled and quite fresh and stylish. No floral textiles anywhere. Swishy, elegant residential neighborhood. Some free parking on site but late arrivals will have to park on the street (easy).

Review 42:The staff, while friendly, were less than helpful with information. Unless you asked a specific question and followed up with more specific questions, the staff provided limited information. They did not volunteer anything. Also, it is mentioned that there is pleanty of free parking but that is incorrect. There is limited free parking, however, there is a fee parking garage. You cannot reserve parking.

Review 43:The hotel was up a steep hill but that was nice because it provided a good view over the city. However if you have difficult with stairs or hills you may have difficulty getting back from the town.

Review 44:No Internet in the rooms - except for the for their hotspot which is expensive and slooowwww... Very slow. Transfer rate was slower than 60kpbs. The view is the bright side but you must climb a hill to get there so be prepared. It's good for you health but sometimes you just want to go back to your bed and relax. As all the other hotel, the bed is too narrow.

Review 45:It's clean the first time I visited it (2014) the reception was really nice and helpful - I can't say the same about last time (2015). The view is really something!

Review 46:Had to pay for wifi and it was quite slow

Review 47:Amazing reception staff (particularly the evening receptionist), incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Restaurant had good food and delicious wine. Great views of the town from the top floor

Review 48:Size of the room is a bit small, although by far not the smallest I have encountered in Europe. Paid wi-fi. 4.99 for 24 hours through Telekom. Slow, spotty, and only valid for one device. Lame.

Review 49:Location is great. On a hill overlooking the town. Our room had a nice balcony where we could watch the snow fall on the tiny town. For the price they are trying hard. Rooms attempt to be modern, but end up seeming somewhat cheap. But, again, the price... Breakfast area was nice.

Review 50:Up on hill we had a senior in the party and had to get a cab back. WiFi in rooms was not free.

Review 51:Rooms were very clean, breakfast was good, onsite parking.

Review 52:The only remark is the way parking is addressed on the site: on the grounds parking is limited, no reservation is needed, once that is full it is either the street or underground parking garage for a fee. Should be better explained on the Hotel site.

Review 53:Breakfast was great; The room nice; The shower room a touch small but functional; Friendliness and competence of the staff; Generally all was good and above average.

Review 54:Free wifi available only at entrance lobby, up on the hill so have to walk up a steep slope, no tissue paper in room.

Review 55:Nice staff, near Friedrichsbad and Caracalla Therme, nice breakfast buffet, quiet, nice elevator, nice view from the balcony, room is not small.

Review 56:When booking we had read about the hill and figured we would be fine, but it is quite a hassle. We ended up taking a taxi from town each night. It was a 6 euro taxi each way, but at the end of a long night, it was worth it :)

Review 57:- Excellent dinner, comfortable and clean room, gorgeous views of Schloss Hoenbaden, easy ride into town

Review 58:had to call front desk twice to get the safe to work everything was just average

Review 59:location, but up a steep hill so not great for people who have a problem walking Quiet Some of the staff was very nice, but others were rather snooty... average ok

Review 60:Great hotel. Clean, neat and comfortable. Greatly located and well priced. We dined in the restaurant for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and served by very friendly staff.

Review 61:The hotel is at the top of the hill and offers stunning views. Having cocktails on the terrace at sunset was absolutely magical. The facility is lovely; rooms are spacious and comfortable. The dining room was excellent. The hotel is just a short walk downhill into town, and the walk back up could be a challenge for some. Taxis are available for the return trip. I'd recommend this hotel and would return again.

Review 62:The hotel is located in a remote area away from tourist activities andpublic transportation. The hotel staff was not particularly helpful inproviding transportation or tourist information.

Review 63:This is an upscale hotel by European standards. The facilities aremodern and well maintained. The views from the grounds are stunning.

Review 64:Beware of the free parking. They have limits space. Once it fills up, you have to find a spot on the street (not easy) or pay 7€/night to park in their garage.

Review 65:The room was very nice and featured a balcony with a gorgeous view. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything of interest is well with waking distance, but if you want a taxi, the front desk will arrange one for you.

Review 66:The walk uphill is tiring, as mentioned by others, but that's the price you pay for the stunning bedroom views - and it's worth it

Review 67:The view from the window was stunning - pine trees, mountains wow. The room - small, but very well-designed, lovely lighting, a nice feel. Wifi hotspot worked excellently The staff - free flask of hot water, tea, cups, so no need for tea making facilities. Looked after bags, lent towels on my last day so I could have an extra spa. Gave me great advice for Black Forest hike

Review 68:The hotel was modern ,spacious, immaculate, and a short walk to the center. The value was outstanding. The beds were very comfortable and the patio by the restaurant gave a wonderful view of the city

Review 69:Hotel was lovely. However it was just out of town (walking distance) but situated a good way up a very steep hill.

Review 70:We had a room with a lovely view of Baden Baden from a balcony. The room was clean and pleasant. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was underground parking for our motorcycle. Breakfast was good with an excellent choice of hot or cold food.

Review 71:A smoker on another floor managed to pollute the air in my room first thing in the morning. This isn't a hotel problem, just a sad fact of life!

Review 72:I've been to Baden Baden many times and this is easily the best place I've found to stay. The location is ideal, a short walk up the hill from the town centre so much quieter than the "main square" hotels but still close to everything. Being on a hill the views are spectacular. The room I stayed in was immaculate and comfortable and the front desk service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!

Review 73:The hotel was top class, very clean, modern and the staff very helpful. The view we had over the town from our room was a bonus. The room was spacious and very comfortable although we didn't have an evening meal here the breakfast was filling catering for all tastes. Will definitely use this hotel again.

Review 74:No WiFi in room (third floor). Address #18 is the underground secure parking, but the entrance is #19 on the street around the corner

Review 75:Car parking for free Television Balcony with views to hills and Castle

Review 76:There is no room service , no kettle in the room either . The hotel located up little hill which is kind of diffcult for walking. The water prusser is not that good.

Review 77:Very nice hotel, helpfull staff and located just around 7 min from the center, quite rooms and nice mountin view with balcony

Review 78:Nice and clean hotel, friendly stuff, exellent view from the terrace, cozy and clean room. Everything has been surpassed all expectations. I really enjoyed my staying in Baden-Baden and it also due to the hotell where I stayed. It's situated at about 5 min walk from Leopoldsplaz on a hill and I guess it's good location. I'm absolutely satisfied fwith price and quality ratio.

Review 79:No body will help you with the luggage. The location is not easy to reached All the hotel facility will close on 10 pm and the kitchen close on 9 pm Nothing around you like coffee shops or cold store and there is no coffee makers in the room

Review 80:Free Parking quite area Excellent value against money staff were good and helpful in giving the information about the city nice view big rooms

Review 81:terrible wi-fi, very average service, ridiculous hill to get to the hotel. Don't go if you're not up for a very big climb. With a car, it's fine. They charge for breakfast, not a good value.

Review 82:views, food, quiet. The nights are beautiful and the views of the mountain are lovely. It's out of town a bit (but very walkable) so it's a lovely respite from the business of the town.

Review 83:If it were me I'd probably add coffee and tea facilities to each room. I don't know if all the rooms don't have them but mine didn't, although it is hardly a big deal. But no other complaints!

Review 84:Very clean and a lovely building, spotless on the inside and with some beautiful grounds. Friendly and very helpful staff, especially the lady at the front desk and the waitress at breakfast, and a very nice breakfast buffet. Just a five minute or less walk to the town centre, you probably won't find a better mix of value and location in the town.

Review 85:The receptionist has been very unwelcoming. It looks like an hospital

Review 86:This hotel looks like a very nice private hospital. The room are big, comfortable but plain and dented. It is in a very quiet location 10 minutes walking from the city center.

Review 87:Lack of free WiFi in the bedroom was a drawback (available at an extra charge), as was the lack of tea/coffee making facilities. There is a significant climb up a steep-ish hill to get to the hotel, but then Baden-Baden is quite hilly in any case.

Review 88:Upon arrival we found the reception staff to be courteous, efficient and very knowledgeable about the town, its nightlife and restaurants. Our room was very modern and bright and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small but again very modern and spotlessly clean. We had requested via email a balcony with a view and we were duly provided with a second floor room featuring balcony with a spectacular view of the old castle. The hotel is about 5-8 minutes walk to the centre of the town (Leopoldplatz) where all the restaurants are located and the same distance to the Caracalla baths.

Review 89:Couldn't get a luggage trolley up steps to lift to our room as the hotel is in split sections

Review 90:Excellent food Comfortable room Good view Safe underground dry parking, much appreciated when on a motorbike!

Review 91:room sizes are smaller than what pictures show, but the are as it written, should be careful when chose, the walk from the city centre up the hill may be difficult little bit for some people.

Review 92:he location is nice and quiet, good view for some rooms, 7 minutes walk to the centre, easy car parking and free in front of the hotel.

Review 93:The walk up the hill may be tiresome

Review 94:The location is perfect! Very quiet, no one around, fantastic views, pure mountain air, very fresh, sleep quality is excellent!

Review 95:It was like a hospital in appearance. The bathroom was not cleaned properly, long black hairs behind door. Complimentary bathroom products consisted of one bottle attached to the wall. Although room was large very business like, ok for conferences I suppose. Breakfast not included and was very expensive for what it was. Very poor. Total experience very impersonal.

Review 96:The bed was comfortable

Review 97:On the map looks very close to town and baths - what isn't reflected it is a 500 m climb UPHILL. No A/C anywhere in hotel and it was quite hot and a bit uncomfortable.

Review 98:The room was large and comfortable and brand new. Staff was very helpful and accommodating even though they were dealing with a large group in the hotel.

Review 99:Wifi costs €5 for a day through the ubiquitous public hotspots you find all over the place in Germany - works well though.

Review 100:Great location, view, and wonderful building/rooms. Would definitely recommend.

Review 101:Charges for WIFI. Does not have AC or a portable fan and we needed it.

Review 102:Good location in a very posh neighborhood in the hills within walking distance to the center of the city. Very clean, spacious and modern interior within an 18th century building. Good restaurant with very friendly wait staff.

Review 103:A bit of a steep uphill walk to get into town and back.

Review 104:Huge rooms, lovely views and very comfortable. Staff very helpful also.

Review 105:Very poor WIFI reception in the room

Review 106:Nice spacious rooms Excellent breakfast buffet Beautiful building

Review 107:Great rooms and lovely restaurant serving awesome food

Review 108:No facilities in the room to make hot drinks.

Review 109:Spacious and airy rooms. Highly professional staff.

Review 110:Notthing

Review 111:Location and quality

Review 112:Location need car with you

Review 113:Staff cleanness and comfort Free parking

Review 114:If walking to hotel from city center, it shows 500 meters but it's steep. Early check out, 10 am is fairly early.

Review 115:Balcony room, and great view.

Review 116:The bed and pillows are baaaad

Review 117:Location and cleanliness

Review 118:No air conditioning was disappointing

Review 119:Location

Review 120:Staff

Review 121:location decoration equipement

Review 122:There is no water boiler in the room and no kids corner for child to play

Review 123:Room design is very nice

Review 124:Everything!

Review 125:View from the Hotel restaurant terrace.

Review 126:One of the waiters wasn't friendly

Review 127:The view of the hotel restaurant is astonishing

Review 128:Having to pay for wifi

Review 129:Nice town which stayed busy late in the evening. Hotel clean and comfortable.

Review 130:The lift was not working.

Review 131:Very clean in the room, good brekfast, possibility to eat a brekfast outside (very nice view) parking on place. Good atmosphere...

Review 132:The room was so hot and the bed linen was heavy so difficult to sleep without being too hot

Review 133:very clean and friendly and great location

Review 134:לא היה כזה

Review 135:הכל
