Review 1：The a/c appeared to have been broken. It only had two settings, off or freezing cold. The bed was extremely uncomfortable to sleep in. We ordered room service and they forgot to provide us with dressing for salad among other things so we called back and it took them over 30 minutes to bring it.

Review 5：The rooms were in need of a bit of an update. I have stayed in other hotels in San Jose for a similar price with much better rooms and bathrooms. Breakfast was nice but not the buffet style I expected.

Review 9：If you are looking for great location, budget value, excellent accommodation and awesome staff, this is your place! We had frustrating time getting here to CR but once we got to the hotel everything changed! The warm atmosphere, the friendliness of owner and staff made us forget the ordeal of getting here. The owner personally spent a lot of time explaining to us what to do and what to see, gave us great tips re travelling in CR and so on. Plus the breakfast is great, the restaurant has extremely nice property land you can walk around, clean pool, wonderful restaurants and the best part for people who love animals - the zoo is across the hotel! Thanks for everything!

Review 10：I visit costa rica every 2 to 3 months at which time I stay at Club Martino. I liked it very much my first stay and more with each stay. I recomend it wholeheartedly. Excellent value.

Review 17：We arrived in SJO late. Make sure you take a regular taxi. Should be 15-20 US. We let some joker try to help us save money and ended up costing us double. Just a helpful tip.

Review 21：We ate one night in the restaurant, since the hotel is ~6 km from most of Alajuela's restaurant options. The waiter was the rudest and most impatient person we encountered in our entire trip -- when I ordered my meal he started walking away so fast that I had to call him back TWICE to provide the details that any good waiter would have asked for on his own (like how well I liked my steak cooked). My being female may have had something to do with it. The food was expensive for the quality, and very salty. I was also less than impressed by the rather unprofessional greeting we received at the reception desk by a young man who needed to sit up, smile, and actually welcome a guest.

Review 22：This is a large and expansive site, with many more amenities than we had time to enjoy, especially the enormous pool area. The dining area is lovely and the breakfast was acceptable but not lavish (1 cereal choice, bacon/eggs on demand, good fruit, juices, toast and coffee). The room was reasonably comfortable and spacious. Bathroom facilities very good. Note that a LOT of walking is involved at this facility.

Review 25：The staff is very friendly but unfortunately the reception staff do not speak english very well and they are also not what you would call organized. The shuttle pick up from the airport when we arrived did not work, when we got to the hotel the guy on duty did not know we were coming (or anything else about a reception job at a hotel) either. They also managed to send the hire car company away saying we were not staying there and had never checked in. We had rooms for 3 different nights and each time we came they seemed very surprised to see us. For anyone spanish speaking great place, but I would not go again just because it gets annoying after a while!

Review 33：No frills kind of place. Cramped, uncomfortable "suites". Tiny bathrooms, no bathtub, no amenities. The gym has no air conditioning, is boiling hot. I couldnt work out, too uncomfortable. Other sports facilities in terrible shape. Puzzles me how the hotel got such a high rating from other travelors! Wonder who wrote them?

Review 34：Nice restaurant. Within short walking distance of a wonderful zoo.

Review 35：Touts its spa, which drew me there. Had un-airconditioned state of the art gym, an oven with excellent machines, not a soul there, because much too hot. The spa services have Manhattan price tags. Nice big pool is kept ice cold. Broken pingpong table in dirty area. Place looks partially abandoned and falling apart. Rooms are nice enough, the "suites" no larger than standard double rooms with poor bathrooms, leaking shower, no tub.

Review 37：The room we were given was in bad shape. Cracked walls, peeling paint, stained linens, not particularily clean. The place looks good on line and I think there were probably better rooms but ours was bad. It looked like it hadn't been painted in years. Although they didn't admit any problem the did cut our payment in half after we complained.

Review 46：My husband and I selected Club Martino because of its ambience. Wedon't care for chain hotels and much prefer privately ownedfacilities. Club Martino is unique to the San Jose area in its decor.Upon arrival we were immediately enveloped by its Italian decor. The fewdetrimental comments about "dated" decor could only have comefrom inexperienced travelers. The staff is superb, the groundsmeticulously maintained and the restaurant outstanding. It was awonderful place to relax or conduct business.

Review 48：waking to birds chirping. Breakfast buffet before 6:00 am and then they added to buffet at 7, including eggs, etc. We were next to a building with wedding and we enjoyed the music except drumming. We will go back to Club Martino.
