Reviews for Hotel am Sophienpark

Review 1:No complimentary toiletries or bath robes (which was a big surprise). There was also a lack of an in room fridge.

Review 2:Staff, room and breakfast were outstanding

Review 3:The hotel is clean and the room is spacious but do not expect a espetacular service or decoration. For me this is a 3 star hotel. I would say the price is fair due to the location and easy access to the city/restaurants.

Review 4:The hotel location is very good.

Review 5:Asked for a king or queen size bed and had twins sticked together which is absolutely not the same Pillows not satisfactory at all

Review 6:Location Nice design

Review 7:There were very few staff at the hotel so no real service you might normally expect - help with luggage, parking or even showing you to your room!

Review 8:The location in Baden Baden was central and very convenient. The breakfast was very good.

Review 9:The staff was friendly and helpful I assisting us in planning our excursions. The rooms were very large and extremely comfortable. Located right in the middle of town within walking distance of restaurants and attractions. Very satisfied with our stay.

Review 10:As stated on website cannot use GPS to get there and limited parking. Noisy street if its a warm night and needing air from open windows

Review 11:4 star comfort and ambiance

Review 12:Disrespect to territorial integrity by hotel's software. They wrote 'Kiev, Russland' in the bill and was immediately forced to change it 'cause I refused to pay before. But this intolerance fits to all Baden hotels I stayed.

Review 13:Historical building in a town center. Well renovated. Cosy park at courtyard.

Review 14:The creaky floor in our room!

Review 15:The location of this hotel was perfect for exploring the town. Our room was very spacious and quiet. The bed was comfortable and had good quality bed linen.

Review 16:nothing

Review 17:I only stayed one night arriving late and leaving early but impressed with the Hotel, its internal architecture and quality of room. Only brief interaction with staff that was fine. Great Location in an attractive city

Review 18:Bedroom at front so little noisy at night time from few drunk people but its city centre hotel so have to expect this on a Saturday night

Review 19:Fantastic location, beautiful hotel, excellent breakfast choices, good size bedrooms

Review 20:Wi-Fi network was weak and there is no coffee machine in the room .. only one device at the reception was to hang in most of the time.

Review 21:Location and the style of the hotel ... Good breakfast ... beautiful garden

Review 22:None.

Review 23:Magnificent building. Superb location. Entrance of parking is from Rettigstrasse. Park first, check in afterwards. Easy. If you want a centrally located hotel in Baden-Baden, parking is a challenge. Not only at Sophienpark.

Review 24:Parking was an issue as due to pedestrian roads it was impossible for me to find the route. I had to park a few minutes walk away in a public car park. Not so much an issue for me as I had few bags but could be a consideration for Jose traveling with multiple bags / children.

Review 25:Great central location and a beautiful old-world decor in main communal areas balanced with clean, modern furnishings in the bedrooms. Overall a very nice place and ideally located near the large Spa in the city center.

Review 26:We booked online and were placed on the 5th floor- low ceilings, dirty drapes and scuffed walls in the hall. The room suffered similar maladies and also had the most thread bare towels I have ever experienced-- at home I would wash the car with them. The staff is not really interested in customer service. It is a four star hotel and when I asked for assistance with my bags they pointed to the luggage cart. Internet does not work consistently on the 5th floor. No one offered any amenities - we ha to ask for towels and robes to take to the famous spa down the street. They begrudgingly produced them. I asked for a quiet room - my mom had a horrible head cold- was told we had the last room and no changes could be made. Was using Internet in the lobby and watched someone walk in and book a room. Turns out there was a party that went on below our room until 2 am. Since there is no AC we had our windows open. Not restful. Honestly, we felt robbed for what they charged vs experience and services received.

Review 27:The only stand out was the breakfast staff. Breakfast was good, presented in a clean and comfortable room.

Review 28:We didn't have Internet in our room and in the lobby it then didn't work either. In the end the front desk gave us an ipad to be able to work. For a business hotel this shouldn't happen

Review 29:Wonderful location, lovely hotel and staff

Review 30:We thought that the simple tea/coffee making facilities in rooms would be better than a paper cup in reception especially as this is a 4 star hotel

Review 31:Location of the Hotel is great. Mix up with booking and staff found us another room in nearby hotel.

Review 32:Just that we had to connect to the wifi every once in a while.

Review 33:The rooms are big and comfy, and its a short walk from everything you need, including the spa.

Review 34:The hotel was always fully booked but to little staff at front desk and breakfast area. There is none to assist with luggage ! No minibar and only 1person for room service. The does not seem to have any bar men.

Review 35:No air conditions. No fans. Was miserable in August. The Nespresso machine was removed from the lobby for the 3 days of our stay (for maintenance!). Very old room carpet.

Review 36:Central location

Review 37:No airco or even a fan available in the room by 35°C ! Nespresso machine in the lobby was out of order. Express laundry service was not possible

Review 38:Great location, nice room with park view, very good breakfast. The staff remained very friendly although many guests were complaining about the heat, we we given a room at the park side for the same price.

Review 39:Stuff, specially woman with short hair not for job with guests very very arguing and unpleasent Every morning noises on reception and jellowing with other guests not only me

Review 40:LOCATION

Review 41:Staff Very hot rooms no AC I made early checkout ( one night before)They charged me 80% extra of the cost of last night which I never stayed And the policy is possible to chage or cancel @ 6pm in the date of arrival

Review 42:Location only

Review 43:The single room was very small and not worth what I paid for it. There was no air conditioning and no mini bar to cool drinks. It was 34 C when I arrived. The information in the room said that there was no minibar for ecological reasons, but I would expect one in a 4 star hotel. There was only 1 very soft pillow on the bed. I had to put the cushion from the chair on the balcony under the pillow to to achieve a suitable pillow height. There were hundreds of TV and radio channels on the satellite TV but nearly all were in German. I found only 1 in English that worked and Italian and Spanish channels were unobtainable (although listed). The shower cabinet was very small and leaked. There was no space in the hotel car park so I had to park 500 metres away. Not a problem when I arrived because I dropped off my luggage at the hotel, but I had to carry my luggage uphill when I left. Finally, the hotel says that it is a non-smoking hotel, so I was surprised to see an ashtray on the balcony.

Review 44:The central location.

Review 45:I didnt like that there was always a line at reception. Clearly, having just one person at the desk is not enough. Also, the bathrooms are not well equipped or at least not at the standards of a 4 star hotel. If you forget your shampoo at home, you have to wash your hair with soap.

Review 46:The hotel is very well located and you can easily get to any part of the city. The room was clean and nice and the staff very friendly.

Review 47:I'm looking from booking to post my complaim against the hotelreception lady and the supervisor for their rude and unprofessionals wayof dealing their tune and word which was the worse I heared from servicestaff they claimed us for euro 400 for carpet spot by coffee caused byour child's we cleaned the carpet by our self up to 80% cleaness andwe ask the room cleaning staff to help but she been called to not helpus. We I asked the lady on here name she said maximouse this is at allunprofessional. Booking.com should take up this concern to the hotelmanagement booking should support the customer on our rights

Review 48:I think they used instant coffee at breakfast. No option for cappuccino. Only in the lobby did they have a Nespresso machines. Other hotels of this class have it in the room.

Review 49:Beautiful hotel with an excellent location and friendly staff. Decently good breakfast as well.

Review 50:The lady at receptions with short hair and glass and the in chargesupervisor she should be trained and know how to deal the customerextermaly rude the claimed us euro 400 for coffe droped small part ofcarpet. I had to pay bc to catch my other hotel in swis

Review 51:Location

Review 52:The reception lady with short hair and glasses and she refused to sayher name she said her name is maki mouse and the supervisor areextermaly they charged us euro 400 for carpet cleaning as our childdropped the coffe we cleaned al most 80% become clean. When they came toreinspect they said sorry we have to pay for them euro 400 for companyto clean the carpet even though there other pervious coffe spot. I wasin hurry to catch my other hotel and swis so I been forced to pay asthey said they will call the police there are the lady and supervisorshould be trained to know how to deal with guest. Some words mentionedto me that I done the damage. I should stay at other hotel next time.Becarful before you select this hotel they are cheaters

Review 53:Location and size of the room

Review 54:No airco, bad bed, poor breakfast (very small bread, very small glasses), towels with bloodspot, very poor wifi (very annoying). Payment for parking.

Review 55:The employees are friendly.

Review 56:Only one shallow pillow. Most information in German only.

Review 57:Excellent location, friendly staff, beautiful garden. Elegant room with high ceiling, and impressive chandelier. Very good breakfast, w fruit, eggs, etc.

Review 58:The hotel is difficult to reach by car. We had to call the hotel to ask how to get there as the navigation wanted to send us through a pedestrian area.

Review 59:Location, the hotel itself.

Review 60:Its a bit difficult to find this place but it was something I was aware of in advance :-) The price of parking is really expensive.

Review 61:If I will come back one day I am going to stay at this hotel again, no doubts. The location is excellent. The staff is helpful and very friendly. The rooms were lovely and quiet.

Review 62:Nearby church bells ringing every morning, so not great for a lie in. Also, not really a plush hotel, so no bathrobes or slippers in rooms. The lift is a service lift as well as a passenger lift so sometimes you can wait for a long time.

Review 63:The location is perfect, and the staff are really friendly, welcoming and helpful. Really nice touch to have the small tea/coffee machine and water in the lobby.

Review 64:Everything was good but the hotel was quite pricey: I suppose this is the price in a place like Baden Baden filled with rich tourists.

Review 65:Great location. Clean. Big room. Very comfortable bed and lovely sheets. Massive breakfast.

Review 66:The only detracting item from this being a 5 out of 5 rating from myself was the Wi-Fi in the room. I found it extrtemely difficult to get an adequate signal strngth in the room (room 214) and went down to the lobby for the times that I ultimately was able to use it. This was my only single minus for my stay there and may have just been an issue with that one particular room

Review 67:Was extremely happy with the Hotel am Sophianpark overall. The personnel were cordial, and helpful. The room was spacious, very clean, comfortable and had a truly nice outdoor balcony with a lovely view The furnishings were very nice and building interior feels very bella epoque and charming. The breakfast room was very attractive, with elegantly set up tables and food was extremely good and of a good variety

Review 68:- Room is a little small - Bathroom is small - Shower pressure way too weak - A little expensive for the size of the room

Review 69:- Very pleasant and supportive staff - Hotel location is perfect - Good mattress - Very good Wifi connexion in the room - The hotel is beautiful, art, paintings everywhere. The garden seems pleasant - The breakfast is very good and complete

Review 70:Parking your car indoors could be a little time consuming as the hotel is surrounded by pedestrians only streets. You need to ask at the reception for directions.

Review 71:Good location, close to restaurants, shops and casino.

Review 72:Bed sheets and duvet were adequate but did not match the high quality cotton and down European expectation... Would have preferred separate soap/shampoo/conditioner instead of all in one combo

Review 73:The location was great! Spacious rooms and beautiful view of courtyard. Lovely breakfast too

Review 74:The elevator in the hotel is so small that we as couple with strolller and dog have filled out the elevator. Due to the check outs there were a lot of traffic and waiting time at the elevator.

Review 75:Just wonder if Hotel had hi-end looking front door and reception area, it'll be super good 4star hotel. Because the rest of the place are all super. One minus thing was I was not told that casino entrance must with passport.. So I dressed up and went there but had to give up to take a look inside due to limit of the time for thermal bathing..

Review 76:Breakfast was included and it was nice!! Everything I ate had such amazing deep flavor, in lovely sunny room. My bussiness single room has chandelier great window towards to Baden Baden main street(as hotel name) I paid 90euro in quiet season. I also got a card for Kurhaus Casino entrance and 3rd hour off in Caracalla spa. I also like welcome sparkling water+green apple in room & nesspesso style coffee machine in lobby(24hours?).

Review 77:It is difficult to reach to the hotel by gps .

Review 78:Excellent location within the city center . Good breakfast. The staff were very kind and helpful. The family room is wide and good for kids .

Review 79:Garden Area was closed to guests for a period due to a private function. Little bar/lounge area was closed during our stay. Wi-fi poor in our room.

Review 80:Staff were courteous and very helpful. Breakfasts were excellent, with good selections available. .

Review 81:The young children running rampant in the halls & stairwell yelling & screaming.

Review 82:The hotel is beautiful, as was our room. We felt very comfortable & relaxed which was greatly needed. Breakfast was lovely & fresh which was a change from other hotels on our european travels.Thank you for a great experience.

Review 83:1-Tight room that fits one person only and no more than that. 2-No bathroom products 3-It took me two hours to find the hotel as it's not listed in the GPS so you have to call them and guess the way. 4-tight parking 5-The need to put the internet password every time i use the internet

Review 84:1-Location 2-Staff

Review 85:Price of parking and breakfast Quality of the bed to hard We slept badly with backache when WE waked up As on Saturday night temperature drop it was impossible to get some heater working in the room On the top of that at check out réception desk woman was not very pleasant at the contrary the one when WE checked in was professional and helpful

Review 86:Size of the room and the bathroom are fine Free Wifi quality is ok Breakfast is Nice quality and furnished

Review 87:It was very hard to find the place driving your car

Review 88:The meals in the dining room and weather permitting on the terras facing the private park The palace-like 4-story stairs

Review 89:Nothing

Review 90:Absolutely everything about this hotel is very good. The front counter staff are patient, courteous and so helpful. The location is perfect right in the middle of town. The rooms are a very good size and extremely comfortable - we were there for 4 nights. They also have a balcony that takes in the afternoon sun. There are gardens at the back of the hotel that are beautiful, good to walk around plus there are lounge chairs for sunning yourself. The hotel restaurant is brilliant but that is why they have a Michelin star. The breakfast is fantastic as you would expect. Lastly the main tourist spas are only 10 mins walk away and the hotel provides you with special towels - they just excel!! Free bottle of sparkling mineral water every day. Brilliant bathroom and products. It really is 5 star luxury.

Review 91:nothing not to dislike . . .

Review 92:Of some dozen hotels in different locations in UK, France and Germany, this one was the standout for all round comfort, facilities, location and value. We would stay there again in a heartbeat . . .
