Reviews for Anchor Inn and Suites
Review 1:We arrived late. The ladies were so friendly. They assigned us a room. When we got to it, it was an unclean ed room. Whoopsies! They apologized and gave us a new room immediately. The beds were comfy, view was great in the morning. I love the decor of the whole place. The waitress was so kind and friendly. Definitely setting great customer service standards here! Way to go team
Review 2:The swimming pool was closed the first day, but then reopened for the rest of our stay. Our main dislike was the same breakfast every day. If you are staying much more than 2 days, it's not good. We would really recommend a few choices.
Review 3:We were there to visit my aunt and the location and view was excellent.
Review 4:We would leave all day and come back around 2:00 or 3:00 and our room had not been cleaned at all. Charged extra money for coffee when we didn't have any from the room not being cleaned. The breakfast had changed since the previous time we stayed there which was disappointing as previously we could choose our style of eggs and now only offered scrambled.
Review 5:The view is great.
Review 6:Windows were salty so we cleaned them to better enjoy the view.
Review 7:Location/view in both the room and the restaurant were fantastic. Breakfast included is a good option, food was reasonable.
Review 8:Shower was terrible. Breakfast was terrible (we tried a few things on the menu). Several staff (not all) were unprofessional (but not rude) and it seemed like they had no idea what was going on or what they were doing. Facilities were run down and so dated. At one point we asked to see a manager but were told he/she was "on holidays" and no one else could help us - I guess no one was left in charge? Or the manager could not be bothered dealing with guests.
Review 9:Great view and the room was fairly spacious
Review 10:The whole building is getting very run down, badly in need of some renovations. Our room did not have any air conditioning so the room (east facing) got unbearably hot by mid morning.
Review 11:Good location and staff.
Review 12:No locks on the sliding doors on ground level room but was moved to different room, another floor. A few pests but may have been because of being by ocean.
Review 13:Beautiful view and friendly front desk staff. Breakfast was basic and good.
Review 14:Hotel further out of town than we envisaged as we were on foot. However plenty of parking space for those with cars. Hotel had rather a strange layout as it was built on a slope that went down to the sea. Balcony had a sea view but the flat roof of the building below us rather marred the view.
Review 15:Large comfortable room, good swimming pool. Helpful reception staff
Review 16:The restaurant staff was great except for the grumpy old boss lady she put a downer on things the way she talked out loud to her staff
Review 17:The waitress Tracy was wonderful
Review 18:My second stay in two years. Again the staff is very very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect with my balcony overlooking the water and the ships passing in the evening. Though there is no Air Conditioning i was given a second fan on request. When returning to my room at the end of the evening all i had to do was open the patio door and in 20 minutes my room was perfect for sleeping after a 30c sun filled day.
Review 19:The guest service representative treated us with disrespect & madehorrible assumptions of us as First Nations People. Then the Manager onsite took her side and proceeded to make excuses for the gsr. The mangerexplained that this is not the first time she had to talk with the gsr.I am still disgusted the way they treated us.
Review 20:Some of the staff were friendly and professional.
Review 21:Need to take stairs to restaurant from upper floors.
Review 22:Rooms are true waterfront with balconies, very nicely renovated. Restaurant is also waterfront. Great views of Discovery passage.
Review 23:The windows were dirty and the sliding door woukd not open well so it was hard to enjoy the view. Plus the old cement driveway was part of the view and IT was horriblle. There was no way to get to the front desk through the building. We're our room was we have to walk up the long ugly drive way in the rain to get to the front desk.
Review 24:The staff were friendly and prompt.
Review 25:Surprised to find not elevator to the upper floors. this is something that should be posted, it could be a problem if ground levels are full. A bit of an obstacle course to get to the dining room. Cold water only in the spa showers.
Review 26:The room was clean, quiet and well laid out ( king). We really enjoyed the ocean view. Breakfast was fast and sufficient, looks out right above the waters edge. Pool and Jacuzzi was lovely.
Review 27:We payed extra for a deluxe room through your website and were told they don't have one and we had to stay in a regular room. Exterior was a mess at back with old construction waste, room patio door seal failed(foggy).no privacy on patio, pipes and bathroom fans are loud.
Review 28:room was nice ,pool and breakfast good.
Review 29:Having to pay a $ or so for an extra slice of toast with the excellent breakfast is nitpicking - as is this complaint!!
Review 30:Frendly welcome. Helpful staff. Wonderful view. Excellent bar and restaurant.
Review 31:the main lobby had buckets on the floor because the gazebo leaked. this is the west coast, it rains. the hotel was tidy but it has been awhile since a coat of paint.
Review 32:staff were friendly. hotel tidy even tho it was experiencing some record rainfall and wind warnings. I arrived late and left early, I would have liked to spend more time there
Review 33:We didn't like the Bite's on our legs in the morning although all linen's seemed clean and fresh. Could have been our allergies but then the next night my Fiance had more bite's just above the ankle's. Group Bite's indicating flee's. we also didn't like the layout of the Hotel. We found ourselves in a maze-like set up. Did a lot of searching for the right corner to turn . Simple fix I guess. Good excersize too .
Review 34:We loved the Pool and comfort of the beds. Pet friendly is perfect on the ground floor. Great Staff all around Hotel.
Review 35:I had to leave the patio door open all night, the room was extremely hot and stuffy ! The place needs a facelift.. it is dark and dingy !
Review 36:I liked the staff .
Review 37:The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast that was included in the room rate was delicious and filling. The kids really enjoyed the indoor pool. We enjoyed our stay.
Review 38:i really didnt like the roadway from the highway down to the front of the building very ruff
Review 39:i really enjoyed the room and watching the cruise ships go buy to alaska
Review 40:The room looked a bit shabby with torn curtains. Also bathroom looked a bit shabby.
Review 41:The view was beautiful. One evening a small group of orca swam by the hotel. price/quality was good. Free breakfast was fine.
Review 42:Everything was outdated, room smelled like stail cigarettes.. This hotel needs to be totally updated... Electrical outlets were hard to find & overloaded.. Breakfast was horrible... Parking lot was difficult to leave if another was entering...
Review 43:Great view... Didn't charge us for breakfast... Staff was very friendly & knowledgeable..
Review 44:Not a good hotel for people that have trouble with stairs. In some cases you have no choice but to take stairs.
Review 45:The pool was very nice and the view from the room is wonderful. We watched a cruise ship go by in the evening and listened to birds all morning.
Review 46:The room we stayed in was extremely hot.. even left the patio door open all night ( not great for security purposes.. but it was suffocating .
Review 47:The spring rolls in the restaurant. The staff were accommodating and friendly.
Review 48:Very poor restaurant service.no substitute on menu items, therefore hard to accommodate vegetarians. Long waits for simple things like toast and coffee. Very old building and it shows as such.
Review 49:The views were fantastic.
Review 50:Watched the cruise ships sail by my room - an unexpected surprise. Easy walk to the down town area. Good solid breakfast. Some renovations taking place and it's a bit of a labyrinth finding your way around but for the money it's a darn good deal.
Review 51:No air conditioning No screen on sliding balcony door No sound barrier between rooms Smokers on balcony Renovation noise
Review 52:Location Able to park boat and truck The ladies in the restaurant at diner and breakfast
Review 53:There was a little bit of renos going on but it didn't interfere with us at all. Although the room didn't have air conditioning, there was a fan in the room which we didn't need to use... the nice sea breeze coming in the balcony door was sufficient.
Review 54:We loved the ocean view, the staff was pleasant and very helpful. Our bed was very comfortable. The curtains blocked out the sunlight and made the room very dark so we could sleep in if we wanted to. The balcony was clean and an awesome view of the water and moon. We had our motorcycles with us and were able to park them right in front of our room which is what we like. There is a restaurant right in the hotel (very handy so we can have a drink and don't have to drive) with a very friendly and helpful server (Tracy) who has served us three times and every time a good experience (Thank you Tracy)... the food is good too, especially the pecan tarts, which are to die for. The room has lots of extras that you don't get at a lot of motels/hotels like sewing kit, make-up remover, shower cap, Keurig coffee maker as well as the usual shampoo and soaps. The room also had a fridge, microwave and flat screen tv and was roomier than a lot of places we've stayed before that charged a lot more money. Also the room came with a free breakfast included. This was a real breakfast served by a server (another nice lady), not the usual continental breakfast that you have to line up for and serve yourself. Scrambled eggs, bacon, pan fries, choice of white or brown toast and jam, etc. coffee or tea... just enough for us and tasty.
Review 55:Lack of air conditioning made sleeping uncomfortable. Construction noise was a nuisance, but obviously needed. One person at lobby desk and one covering dining room is inadequate when there are people waiting in line. I was amazed at how staff coped and with good humor.
Review 56:Friendly and capable staff. Site shows obvious improvements of late and work continues. The hotel has potential to be a great destination resort.
Review 57:no air conditioning, but still livable. bit of construction noise but to be expected, didn`t bother us, most was done through the day while we were out.
Review 58:the views, the facilities ( great pool)location, friendly staff ( all) breakfast was good. room was clean and beds were comfortable, hotel was undergoing some rennos and i`m sure will be better when done. but still a good place.would come back.
Review 59:The included breakfast lacked choice. A juice would have been appreciated. 100 dollar deposit we thought was excessive since paid bill on arrival.
Review 60:Comfortable room with super ocean view.
Review 61:Staff / Location / View / Breakfast All Great. The INN NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED A LITTLE....ITS GETTING OLD & WEARY LIKE US TRAVELERS. GREAT DOUBLE BEDS, TOWELS ETC ETC.
Review 62:Loved everything!!
Review 63:Right at the Marina. Booked a private charter Sportsfishing trip withus. Excellent guide, Ron Kipot. Be sure to request him. Caught oursalmon limit worth $1400! We had a huge balcony overlooking the marinaand they allowed us to smoke on it.
Review 64:1. age of the building 2. it's like a maze to get from floor 1 to the pool, spa, and dining room 3. We were on the first floor ; there is NO elevator to get to the dining room or swimming pool, or spa. We also had to drive from the check in floor to our first floor! 4. Parking is VERY difficult.
Review 65:the view from the dining room and our room
Review 66:Smoking is tolerated even though 'no smoking ban' in area. Our room was used for someone to smoke on balcony only a short time before we checked in at 8.00pm. Fan used to get rid of smoke but not successful. Cigarette butts thrown over the balcony. Staff when notified were non-chalant and did nothing not even apologize. Allergic reactions, coughing from the smoke spoiled the stay.
Review 67:Restaurant food and servers excellent
Review 68:Lack of signage to make it easier to find your way through the maze like design of the hotel from the lower floors to the lobby.
Review 69:Scenery was great with the views of the ocean off your balcony, the breeze off the ocean at nite makes it very comfortable for sleeping
Review 70:How the hotel was against smokers very unfair especially when my spouse has a disability and she uses a walker to many stairs to get to front desk
Review 71:The views and the people
Review 72:No airconditioning!!! I didn't know there were any hotels inexistence that did not have air. The patio door did not have a screeneither! I was responsible for booking the rooms and I was embarrassed. We had booked a second night and cancelled them the next morning.
Review 73:The staff The room The location The price
Review 74:The whole hotel needs a serious overhaul. Chairs in the dining room are threadbare. Hotel did not respond to our E-mail about bringing our pet yet our message was printed out on the desk. So we were to have a king bed on the 6 th floor and ended up with 2 queen beds on the ground floor. It was so hot in the room that we had to sleep with the door open which was a real safety concern. Shampoo was not a good quality. Whole room needed renovations. Everything in the hotel was cheap including my request for an extra slice of toast with the breakfast, as it only came with one slice of bread, only to be told it would be about $2 for the slice. Desk clerk was not engaging at all. She told us not to deal with Booking.com but to call direct. She was obviously not a good positive person to be on the Front Desk.
Review 75:View of the water Staff in dining room were very good.
Review 76:The first night we stayed on the seventh floor and it was very warm. The second night we stayed on the second floor and the temperature was not a problem.
Review 77:I loved that the Inn was on the ocean. The view was fantastic and the salmon were jumping.
Review 78:Beds were lopsided and sloped down towards the pillows. There were hairs in the tub, and around the floor. Coffee cup sitting outside on the deck with cigarette butts in it. The room smelled of smoke, but I was tired so didn't bother changing rooms. The food in the restaurant was okay
Review 79:seeing the ocean.
Review 80:The have a restaurant on site but don't be very hopeful for a great meal. I had Salmon which came with rice and veg. The salmon was over done and the rice almost inedible. The veg was great.
Review 81:The rooms were big, with views of the sea and Quadra island. There is a small pool and hot tub, while I didn't use them they looked clean.
Review 82:Breakfast was included w/room, and arrived very quickly. It was obvious that the food had been held in warmers for some time.Sausages were dripping with water and had not been browned at all. Other food was lukewarm.Baddd! Too bad because diningroom was lovely and situated over ocean w/an amazing view.
Review 83:we were told every room has a view of the ocean. however the one we were in had three big branches right across the view. we mainly wanted to sit outside and watch the ships! the noise from the repairs was very loud!
Review 84:I like the location and the breakfast. chairs on the patio are comfortable.
Review 85:No air conditioning No elevator, had to carry heavy suitcases up and down three flights of stairs No flexibility for breakfast times
Review 86:The view was excellent
Review 87:Older wood structure building, so soundproofing not 100%, but did disturb me.
Review 88:Very comfortable, lovely channel/ocean views, good sized (king) room.
Review 89:One wall in our room was bare drywall/wallpaper mix. Sheets on the bed were dirty. Drywall chunks missing in many places of the hotel's walls and ceilings. Furniture very dated but beds were comfortable. Very overpriced for what we received.
Review 90:Nice location and views. Complimentary breakfast was ok.
Review 91:Horrible driveway/entrance -- not suitable for fancy lower cars
Review 92:Great room with a view to match -- good breakfast with good service -- going there again
Review 93:The hotel was tired and in need of some tlc! The windows in our room badly needed cleaning. Some of the lanterns bordering the hotel car park were broken. The hotel information seemed to indicate that there were 2 or more restaurants with one serving "sushi by the sea", but there was actually only one restaurant and one of the members of staff explained that "they haven`t updated the information" since apparently closing one of the restaurants. Sushi was off the menu during our stay there and we were given the impression at breakfast on the first morning that there was only one breakfast option. Our scrambled eggs tasted like they were made from a powdered egg mixture and none of us could eat them. The second morning was better as our waitress was very friendly, gave us menus, and explained that we could order different breakfast items that would cost us a little extra, an option we gladly accepted. It`s a real shame that this hotel did not deliver as it has a lot of potential, but overall it was quite disappointing.
Review 94:The indoor pool and Jacuzzi were great. Location by the ocean very pleasant.
Review 95:What was advertised was not available. Construction was not noted and should have been.
Review 96:Front desk staff great help and very friendly. View was fantastic.
Review 97:The whole place is tired and needs updating and a fresh coT of paint. There is no aircon in the rooms and when we were there is was in the high 20s, they have a room fan which you have to leave on all the time. There is also no elevator and there are 7 floors of bedrooms and the dining room is on the 3rd floor. A bit chaotic in the dining room in the morning trying to get breakfast as its 2 older ladies who serve you the take it or leave it cooked breakfast and dont dare move a chair to another table without permission!
Review 98:The location of this hotel is stunning and we watched cruise ships going by and hundreds of salmon leaping right outside the windows. The staff were excellent and very friendly. On the whole it was ok for the money
Review 99:no air conditioning no instruction for tv free breakfast was cold, wrinkled, runny and dry all at the same time. the drive way down to the beach needs desperate need of repairing.
Review 100:king size bed. THE VEIW!!
Review 101:Our ocean view was hindered by an ugly parking lot, old shed in ruins to the side and a balcony view blocked by the railing as the plastic chairs were not the right height.
Review 102:The fact that we were only able to stay for the one night!
Review 103:Our room was located facing the ocean - the view was spectacular. Watching the fish jumping and the cruise ships floating by, the fisherman coming and going on their boats - beautiful! Breakfast was delicious and the service excellent.
Review 104:Breakfast was in a beautiful setting, potatoes each morning were not good, but the rest of the meal was. Waitress was really nice. the exercise room was quite disgusting. Not one of the machines worked. A they gave us the key and did not bother to tell us it was all inoperable
Review 105:Loved the location and the unique set up.
Review 106:~ driveway entrance ~ lack of a/c ~ small bathroom ~ restaurant through maze and down two floors
Review 107:~ comfortable bed ~ balcony ~ fridge ~ microwave
Review 108:It's an older hotel, but very clean and comfortable, friendly staff, good price, rooms face oceanfront , you can sit on your balcony and watch cruise ships pass, enjoy the ocean breeze, we wii be back
Review 109:The staff were most courteous and helpful. Lovely crisp sheets, efficient cleaning of room. A bit of fresh fruit in season would have been nice for breakfast.
Review 110:It was 28 degrees in the room on arrival with no air conditioning and the hotel would not refund money as the heat was unbearable. The deck was filthy and full of cobwebs!
Review 111:The view
Review 112:The length of time it took to get our dinner. There were 8 of us and from time of ordering to actually getting the food was over 1 hour.
Review 113:The rooms are very comfortable and all have a great view. The food in the restaurant is very good
Review 114:I grew up in Campbell River. The Anchor Inn was the nicest hotel in town. I just think it has aged a lot and hasn't been kept up in that aspect.
Review 115:I love the view from this hotel.
Review 116:The view was amazing, the staff was friendly and helpful and the hot tub was great.
Review 117:Room on the ocean, friendly staff, quiet

Review 121:Relaxing place
Review 122:no air conditioning
Review 123:great view and restaurant
Review 124:Great breakfast and great view
Review 125:We stayed in a themed suite it was great
Review 126:The staff recommended an excellent fishing charter for us and cooked our catch for us at the end of the day...fabulous service to offer!!
Review 127:Hate the Keurig in-room coffee makers. Prefer traditional type.
Review 128:Very good bed.
Review 129:Complementary breakfast wasn't that good
Review 130:Pool and rooms were great
Review 131:Lack of air conditioning, very early (9:30) end to breakfast service
Review 132:Location, view
