Reviews for The Idlewyld Inn and Spa
Review 1:That I missed the viewing of the wine cellar.
Review 2:I loved that even though we arrived very late and dressed in travel attire they allowed us to enter the fine dining area as is to enjoy some oustanding cuisine.
Review 3:Had to ask for shampoo a twice instead of having fully stocked bathroom (first world problem).
Review 4:Parlour was beautiful for reading, relaxing, glass of wine. Great staff (received maple syrup gift from Janice). Great full breakfast and peppermint tea in the room. Huge modern shower.
Review 5:Nothing.
Review 6:Friendly staff, room size, very comfortable bed, historic architectural, large outdoor patio, great food. Our accommodation of choice in London year after year.
Review 7:The grounds upon arrival are just beautiful, well maintained , Michael @ the front desk was friendly & helpful along with the rest of the staff as we prepped for a surprise birthday party. Ed & the wait staff in the wine cellar on our evening clearly liked their job & we benefited. The food was delicious as well !!
Review 8:The breakfast had many great choices. I love yogurt and granola. I thought the granola was not quite up to par but everything else was very good.
Review 9:The staff were very kind and helpful. I was able to walk to my downtown meetings.
Review 10:The only thing that could have improved the expeience was the music in the diningroom. It was a very 'elevator' style of jazz that was not suitable to the standards of the Inn.
Review 11:The refrigerator was noisy in my room
Review 12:I stayed here on business. It was a much more pleasant option then a standard hotel room and gave me a better value overall plus a high quality continental breakfast. Bed words super comfy. Felt like being in England
Review 13:Breakfast was very simple - toast with cream cheese or something similar. Had to pay extra for eggs. Other than that everything was perfect.
Review 14:I loved the room. It had nearly everything we need. I loved complimentary coffee and tea in the form go kcups. Everything was clean and the architecture of the place was very charming.Staff 2 as super friendly. It was great stay for a celebration of anniversary.
Review 15:The skimpy drapery and cheap wooden shutters are inadequate in shuttingout the glare of the exterior lighting. We had to drape the extrablanket over the shutters which help a small amount. The bar fridge ranloudly and continually all night; it sounded like a small aircraftrevving it's engine for take-off, it was impossible to sleep.Although much money was spent on renovation, none of it apparentlyaddressed the problem of squeaky floors in an old house; when you aresleepless due to the light and bar fridge noise, the surrounding guests, especially those above you sound like clog-dancing hippos with weakbladders, compelled to trod across the floor every hour. Room 204 wasalso above the main entrance so we heard the bang and thump of everyopening and closing all night long.In summary, we slept a total ofperhaps 2 hours, spread out over 8 hours. I've had better nightscamping in the woods.
Review 16:Everything was great.....price could be like 110.....but that is up to you...
Review 17:Liked the fact that although front entrance + main floor were very Victorian-ly decorated, the room was modern......my husband prefers modern.....
Review 18:Parking tight Price increased for second night Limited selection with continental breakfast
Review 19:Bathroom esp shower Closet Friendly Staff Fully Renovated Small Restaurant
Review 20:We had to leave!
Review 21:My sister and I stayed at this Inn and plan to do it again. Great staff; comfy room and terrific lounge and fireplace where we chatted with other guests. They had all enjoyed great meals. In the restaurant (our event off-site meant we missed a great dinner). Breakfast was perfect
Review 22:Bathroom could have had more small shelves for personal items.
Review 23:The old building and amenities were just what we wanted for our visit to London. Most luxurious and relaxing.
Review 24:beautifully renovated grand historical house, the bathrooms splendidly modern, the reception most friendly, the rooms quiet with extra blankets and pillows, excellent queen beds, spacious. and exceptional value for the money, including breakfast.
Review 25:I did not sleep well. The bed was too firm for me and the pillows were too puffy. I was very sore all night.
Review 26:The food was amazing! The Hotel was wonderfully beautiful!
Review 27:Room cleaning service was not 100% - had to ask for bathroom items from time to time. WLAN performance could be better.
Review 28:Atmosphere was like being home in a family - very sympathetic service staff helping in all cases. Idyllic situated restaurant areas in the garden and front porch with view of the wonderful garden. Living in this old building is a very special feeling!
Review 29:N/A
Review 30:The location in a park, the service, the ambiance - simply perfect. Old house but equipment (e.g. shower) is very modern The restaurant is a dream!
Review 31:Needs a fan in the bathroom and another waste basket. Person on front desk is too busy, often interrupted by phone or staff while I was trying to check in and put.
Review 32:Lovely atmosphere
Review 33:The motor in the mini refrigerator disrupted our sleep.

Review 49:rooms were nice/large jetted Jacuzzi tub. Beds were very comfortable
Review 50:Large room plenty of space
Review 51:The breakfast was definitely not up to what I thought it should be. Music playing made me feel like I was 90.
Review 52:It is a beautiful old inn. Lovely kept grounds. Modern bathrooms. First class!
Review 53:Fine dining, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, and with white tablecloths every time. Felt like I was staying in a stately home - perfect!

Review 59:The comfortable room, along with a great dinner followed by good breakfast & lunch the next day.
Review 60:The light shining from the above the window heating unit was distractling - advised front desk personnel when we checked out.

Review 63:nothing

Review 66:service from staff dining rooms and facilities location
Review 67:Food and garden
Review 68:We had to leave after 2 nights.
Review 69:Everything!! The staff were very helpful and every convenience enjoyed. Perhaps there could have been a little more choice with the complimentary brekafast but it was fine for us.
Review 70:Could have used a light on the desk in the room and a higher and more stable chair at the desk would have been better.
Review 71:The staff were very welcoming. The rooms were very comfortable and I wish we had more time to enjoy the facilities. The menu looked wonderful and we regret that we did not make dinner reservations in time.
Review 72:The air conditioning needed to be turned off and the heat turned on, although space heaters were offered.
Review 73:The staff were outstanding, especially Keri and Janice at the front desk. They could not have been more efficient or attentive. Their genuine warmth and desire to make our stay in London "the best", truly made it so. Many thanks! Dinner was superb there, as was the "High Tea", that we so thoroughly enjoyed. It was also nice to wander about downstairs, enjoying it's old world charm. The patio area looked so inviting, but it was just too cool, to enjoy eating outside at the time. The garden was lovely, too. more informative
Review 74:as a european not being used to AC's
Review 75:affecionate staff even more welcoming than excellent Hardware or wonderful Location. very romantic, wonderful Details of interieur
Review 76:Extremely cute hotel in manor style. fantastic individual rooms in the design of the old manor, each room different. Staff extremely friednly and helpful/supportive with all matters. Perfect location between downtown and the Wortley village (the latter in walking distance). Enough parking space for cars. Romantic. We will definitively come back soon.
Review 77:it was great... good service, great rooms.... quiet and relaxing... if you are looking for something closer to the party this place isnt for you... high class and relaxing!! great place iw ill return.
Review 78:this place was awesome.... king size bed and a balcony... picked up dinner from a little vietnamese place and ate on the small and very romantic balcony in our room. JACUZZI TUB!!!
Review 79:The stay was for Our Son's Wedding Day! The Parents and Grandparents stayed! First trip for Grandparents! Staff went out of their way for us! Service was wonderful from Front Desk Staff! Dining Staff Richard was amazing !
Review 80:The staff were always smiling and sincerely wanted to help you anyway they could. The building and the room were absolutely beautiful and immaculate. Fine detail paid to every aspect, we will definitely be coming back for future romantic weekends away.
Review 81:We were disappointed there was no bar fridge in the room or coffee maker, although they did have coffee available in the lobby for guests in the morning. While the bathroom fixtures were nicely tied into the rest of the décor, if was impossible to run the sink faucet without splashing water all over the counter.
Review 82:We loved the antique décor and historic design of the hotel as well as the quiet neighbourhood. The room was very spacious & comfortable as was the king size bed. There was ample parking & the location was central & convenient for us.
Review 83:There needs to be a lot more storage shelves or cupboards in the bathroom which would make the whole experience perfect.
Review 84:Really comfortable beds Great Service Lovely rooms Value for money Relaxing atmosphere
Review 85:I cannot get hair -drier to work, but may be it is just me... Restaurant could have more vegetarian choices-I am vegetarian
Review 86:I always stay in Idlewyld when I go to London on business (once a week) It is just 2 km from the downtown with free parking, possibility to open window and generous toiletries
Review 87:Hair dryer didn't work. Breakfast not available until 8am, which is a little late for a business traveller.

Review 89:No complaints.
Review 90:Our room was very nice and cozy, and we felt pretty special to have access to the balcony ! We also loved the courtyard, and the food was excellent.
Review 91:This boutique hotel is a true gem. The owner circulates with visitors. The staff is extremely friendly. They have (good) coffee any time of the day. Short walk to downtown for food and entertainment. The restaurant is exceptional, and the chef is very accommodating.
Review 92:perhaps the dining room temp was a little chilly, (but it had been so warm outside the day before).
Review 93:Best travel/hotel sleep I've had in a long time! Mattress - superb! Soft, white linens (including white duvet cover). Kudos. A lot of upgrades since my last stay three/four months ago. Thank you for the excellent service. Food was fabulous and nicely priced.
Review 94:Being a beautiful older historic Home, very comfortable, Elegant, original older time wood work, wall coverings Lovely garden, relaxing atmosphere, a very feel good place to be home away from home. Food, service everything was perfect. So interested in the history, wish there had been book/info,photos on the interior, floor plan in the 1800's before renovations? Lovely Inn.
Review 95:I wish that when I booked for my stay on line, you would have made it clear that a single room with a double bed did not include meals. I would have paid more had I known. As well, it was not made perfectly clear to me upon arrival, that there was a little bag in a small box in the room, in which I could write those food items provided for breakfast in my room. I was able to talk to some maids in the corridor in the morning, who took my order downstairs. I believe it was Veronica, a very pleasant woman, who brought those food articles to me, but she did so without a knife with which I could spread marg. and jam on my bagel; as well, it would have been nice had they been delivered on a small tray. I dod not travel much, so maybe it was taken for granted that I would be clued in, as they say.
Review 96:I liked the old-fashioned decor with the cozy furniture and the wonderful woodwork throughout. The bed was very comfortable. I liked particularly the quiet atmosphere. Staff too were very friendly and professional. The cost overall was reasonable.
Review 97:Although most rooms are lovely, there are some that are definatelybetter than others!
Review 98:We have stayed a few times now and absolutely love the rooms and thestaff is top notch - always freindly and very accomodating. Our onlyplace to stay while in London!
Review 99:The room was quite cool. Unable to control temperature. Staff offered small space heater which was not effective. This is a very minor complaint and would not at all deter us from staying at the hotel in the future.
Review 100:The history and beauty of the hotel is most pleasing. The food in the Avenue Restaurant was superb.
Review 101:The only thing, and it is a small quibble, was that the bread (toast) that accompanied the included breakfast, was not nice at all - seemed like a cheap run of the mill grocery store variety - not at all appropriate.
Review 102:My daughter and I stayed at this beautiful inn. Our favourite aspects? Charming leaded glass windows, Carefully and elegantly appointed. Did not have dinner at the in this time, but plan to try it the next time we visit, because the menu looked wonderful. Excellent service and friendly staff. I booked on-line but the staff were unaware that the booking had included breakfast. However they very quickly made the required changes in their data base.

Review 115:Professional staff and very accommodating. I would definiately recommend to others.
Review 116:room was on the top floor. no windows, no air conditioning, room was hot and stuffy.
