Reviews for The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

Review 1:Asked to upgrade room for last night to include a fire place to celebrate 25th wedding anniversary . Called front desk and discussed options and individual did not make effort to get back to us . Left us hanging all day without a yes or no option . Also tenant next door had 2 dogs in room that barked quite a bit .

Review 2:Food was very good and reasonably priced

Review 3:Some chaotic directions and parking, slow dinner service and their pet fees were a bit excessive. Limited WiFi access unless you pay more.

Review 4:Loved the amenities, friendly and professional staff and activities. Room was ok, warm and clean. So much to explore!

Review 5:The rooms are old and smell old. Paper thin walls, noisy heating system...

Review 6:I really liked the common areas. Found it interesting how the dogs were allowed in food and beverage areas. Considering NDP's platform to reduce emissions and the hotel's puffing stack located on the property, I am wondering if there will be any consideration for Fairmont to comply with upcoming environmental initiatives?

Review 7:Locking and opening the room's door was not easy...the locks need to get updated.

Review 8:The restaurants, the room, the staff, the ice skating rink, the Christmas decorations, the pool and hot tub - All of those were amazing! We enjoyed every moment of our Christmas vacation in this wonderful place

Review 9:When we arrived in our room it was very obvious that someone had taken a nap on the bed, used the washroom, a warm cup of tea was still beside the bed and the tea pot was obviously used to make the tea. I kind of wondered when we walked in to the room and saw dirty boot marks on the floor. There was no luggage in the room. It was a little unsettling to think someone had been in our room before us after it had obviously been cleaned. I guess it's a way to keep the ghost stories alive! :) The staff moved us in to a new room.

Review 10:The property is beautiful and the staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Review 11:Had to call three times to have special considerations added to my room. Each time I was told that it wouldn't be a problem, and everything was taken care of. Only to find out that my requests had been completely ignored when I arrived. Having spent additional money and time organizing my trip around these requests, I will not be returning to this location, or recommending it to others.

Review 12:The location was very desirable. The recreational facilities were also great.

Review 13:For a hotel like the Fairmont the bed was hard, way to high (what is it with fancy hotels needing me to climb into and out of bed) and the frame was probably as old as the hotel every time one of us rolled over the other one woke up from the noise the bed made. Heating didn't work properly, it was so hot one night we slept with the door to the room open just to cool off (safe I know) also, if you ever want to enjoy a couch by the fireplace you have to get there at 7am and leave your coats there while you go do other things for hours. This needs to be better controlled. There is absolutely no parking near the back cabins so if you get a beautiful cabin with a great view be prepared to hoof it with your gear and children through icy roads and crumbling pathways.

Review 14:The lodge itself at Christmas is magical. The location is beautiful and the winter activities like skating and cross country skiing are great. The restaurants are delicious and the fact that children under 5 eat free is amazing.

Review 15:The food was less than mediocre. A group of friends ate at orsa for dinner. Cold dinner, cold coffee, we had to send things back. Way overpriced for the quality of food. Breakfast was no different. I have been to many fairmonts and the dining in the Jasper location is not up to par.

Review 16:The front desk staff were helpful and friendly including the nice check in staff that are located outdoors for convieince. The hotel itself is situated in an amazing location. The Christmas decorations are stunning!

Review 17:..nothing!

Review 18:We love the outdoor pool & hot tub in winter... 'comfiest' bed ever... great staff, who dealt quickly with a minor issue, and apologized with much appreciated room-service dessert-tray...Yum! Bonus: on the property we had herds of Elk, Deer wandering through thee snow.

Review 19:The staff are definitely a highlight of staying at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge! My husband and I felt taken care of at all times. Our room was spacious and, what was the more important, clean! Bed was super comfy, had a great sleep! Wish we could stay longer.

Review 20:It was too hot in the chalet at night. A young man was driving way too fast on the little roads around the chalet. We had to quickly got out of the way. Please slow down. The renovation was annoying but I know it needs to be done.

Review 21:We liked he quality of the food and nice ambiance. The staff is always very helpful and discreet. The pool was wonderful this time.

Review 22:Felt it was a tad expensive for what you got. Outdated rooms, old tv, etc. I would suggest updating the bathrooms! We felt we were paying for excellent staff and a beautiful view, but not so much a great room.

Review 23:Your staff are definitely a highlight of staying at Jasper park lodge! My boyfriend and I felt taken care of at all times from the valet, to the front desk, to room service, to the pool staff, we loved everyone!

Review 24:Room very tired. Needs full up-date. For the price bathrobe and slippers should have been provided. Only two restaurants open.

Review 25:Stunning location.

Review 26:I understand your a dog friendly hotel, I love dogs but you need rules. We had a dog bark for two hours straight till I finally called the front desk but it took quite a while to find the owner. This sure killed the romance!

Review 27:October is a great time to visit the hotel wasn't very busy. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

Review 28:The accommodations were great, the staff were fantastic. The common areas, lodge, restaurants were beautiful and very comfortable. We had a perfect vacation.

Review 29:Our telephone did not work, made it difficult to call for Our vehicle and food services. Also it would have been nice to have robs. L

Review 30:the service was excellent we had a amazing time

Review 31:Attended a wedding and was disappointed with the dinner service during the wedding. It was slow, and disorganized.

Review 32:Very helpful concierge. Delivered necessities to the room quickly. The location is unbeatable, lots of short trails and lakes to explore.

Review 33:The heat was on full in our room. Maintenance couldn't fix that day. With open windows all night it was comfortable.

Review 34:I liked the pool facilities. Comp lockers were awesome.

Review 35:The restaurants were very expensive and way over priced in my opinion. Because of this we opted to travel the 4 km into town for our meals. Also, the parking is very limited and usually, required scrambling around in the evening to find something anywhere near our room.

Review 36:Just outside of Jasper but, close enough to town and good access to hiking trails. Overall, the setting was beautiful and the grounds were immaculate.

Review 37:Roads and lodges tightly packed together, difficult with a large car. Asked about WiFi at check in, she could have signed us up for free WiFi there & then, instead gave us a card and said the instructions are on there. The card basically says "follow the instructions online" (you pay $15 per day unless signed up. Called reception when we realised, and they signed us up over the phone).Check in wasn't busy, this was lazy customer service. Outside of lodge was caked in 10 years of cobwebs & crunchy spiders. Dead and living flies inside lodge, around window and radiator. Blood on duvet. Called for new duvet, which came quickly but was also old and smelly (and no offer to make the bed for us - no problem, but not exactly the service I expected at the Fairmont). Next day, the toilet broke, called for repair which was done whilst we were out. When we arrived back at our lodge around 3pm, a housekeeper was standing next to our bed with her phone out happily texting away. If I had my phone on me at work (around customer's private info/belongings), I'd get my butt kicked by HR. A bunch of rednecks with mullets were partying next to us until the wee hours, it summed up the feel of the whole place - glorified trailer park. I doubt people who get the nice lodges near the lake front get this experience, but for the cheap seats in the back, its soooo not worth it. You'll pay less for a nice apartment in the town next to the action. Don't think because they have some affordable deals that you'll get the 'Fairmont experience' here. Worst two nights in 7 months of travelling

Review 38:The lake setting

Review 39:Our room was absolutely stifling hot when we arrived ( thermostat said 89 degrees) we opened all windows and tried to cool it down but it was still 79 degrees at 11p.m. Sleep was challenging and the only saving grace was the overhead fan. Maintenance seemed to get it under control the following day so our second night was improved,( only 72 degrees).

Review 40:The location is paradise. The lake and configuration of accommodation around it is spectacular. We saw elk swimming across the lake and the view of the mountains provided perfect peace.

Review 41:Expensive

Review 42:The lodge is absolutely beautiful! the buildings, the lake, the wild life - really something! the room was very comfortable, the staff helpful, food was good (though not great as expected).

Review 43:rooms were no better than a third rate motel Shabby and in dire ned of refurbishment. Very noisy at times and a good walk to the main building.although there was the option of a shuttle pick up.

Review 44:view from main building over the lake

Review 45:The prices are not in line with the industry. It is out of reach for the average person/family. Rooms need updating, we could see daylight between our door and the casing.

Review 46:Wonderful setting, friendly staff.

Review 47:On arrival we had to park along way from our room. There was a smell of sewerage outside our room which got stronger each day. We stayed three nights and the menu was limited and didn't change. The room was over heated and couldn't be cooled down to our comfort level.

Review 48:The location was great.

Review 49:I did not like that I was not informed that the season "change-over", as it was described to me by staff, had occurred the day before I arrived...Also, I was not impressed that I was not told about road work right outside my room...I had asked for a late check-out so as to get in as much rest and relaxation as possible in a small window of time...I was not informed that I would be awakened at 8 am with construction noise...I was quite disappointed to have not been made aware of these things.

Review 50:I love the location and the natural beauty...although the restaurant I hoped to have dinner in was closed (I was not made aware of this at time of booking or checking in) the staff at the bar were very accommodating although it was not the dining experience I had anticipated.

Review 51:Service at the restaurants was hit and miss. Mostly excellent but occasionally we would get a poor server. The Sunday brunch, While very nice, has diminished in the past decade or so.. I have been going there for over 25 years.

Review 52:The views are awesome. My bed was super comfortable. We caught fish in Lac Beauvert!

Review 53:We really enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Wonderful staffs and a great place to get away from our busy/hectic life. We will definitely be back!

Review 54:badly cracked sink and toilet, dirty grout in bathroom, bedroom carpet not thoroughly cleaned. one comfortable chair in a double room. very slow service in restaurant

Review 55:location and grounds beautiful

Review 56:Nothing

Review 57:Staff were excellent, very polite & nothing was too much trouble. Resort was excellent, well appointed, all facilities were of premium quality. Staff seemed very proud of their work place & environment. Will revisit.

Review 58:Loading, unloading and parking can be tricky.

Review 59:We had a large, comfortable cabin close to the main lodge. Loved cocktail hour in the lounge with the view of the lake.

Review 60:The service was very slow in the main restaurants and staff indifferent. Room service was terrible and after waiting over an hour we cancelled the order. Purchased golf shoes in the pro shop and they package two left feet which was a huge inconvenience as we did not notice until we had left and was hen required to chase them up so the correct shoe could be meet us in Vancouver. A very poor experience and lack of attention to detail.

Review 61:The location is great and the setting is stunning. The hairdressing salon was fabulous.

Review 62:Visit too short.

Review 63:The cottages on lakeside were comfortable and easy walk to lodge and had views of lake and mountains. The grounds were beautifully maintained. The lake is exquisite and wonderful to see with sunrises and to walk around. And water so clear. The atmosphere was very relaxing and natural. The lodge building is beautiful too in its great lodge stone hearth and vaulted wood beams and sitting areas.

Review 64:The only thing was I had to cancel our couples massage a few hours before our appointment due to an emergency and us having to head home sooner than expected and still being charged the entire amount.

Review 65:Everything about the visit was exceptional. From the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, to the amazing scenery. Dinner in orso was excellent and Amy was a perfect server.

Review 66:The bed was a little uncomfortable, parking is terrible, however we did use the shuttle !

Review 67:Staff were wonderful !! Food was SUPERB ! ate in the Orsos Restaurant, service was WOW !!

Review 68:We had the cabin closest to the lake and close to the lodge. Views were spectacular! The food was delicious! The heated floors in the entry way and bathroom were fabulous! Best sleep and best shower ever! This place is fancy fancy!

Review 69:Our bathroom was very small. The hotel did not have enough restaurant facilities for the number of guests, or enough parking spaces.

Review 70:Our room was very nice, and comfortable.

Review 71:There was very limited availability in Jasper on those dates and ended up paying over £200/night room only basis. The noise in the room from other guests, vehicles and drainage (all through the night) wasn't good and the bathroom itself was tired. The bathroom tiles & grouting were cracked and discoloured with mould on the wallpaper. There was rubbish and an untidy mess in the service areas outside our room with no real need as it was opposite the staff laundry storeroom and on a thoroughfare. Paying what we felt was a higher than average rate and then having to pay for internet everywhere throughout the complex (unless you were in the special presidents club) and the hotel shuttle each way per person to Jasper centre (10-15 mins out of town) felt like a further penalty - other hotels in Whistler and Banff offered both these for free. The breakfast buffet was extensive, in a formal setting but still an additional expense for what is a help yourself hot and cold food selection at £16-18 per person. The staff are attentive and friendly, if a little insincere at times (greeting you because they had to). Unfortunately we did feel that if we were members of the special club and spending a lot more money we would have got the special treatment we observed other guests getting.

Review 72:The setting in the park is fantastic, the main restaurant/amenity block great but the lodges in the park had a bit of a motel type feel.

Review 73:Rooms are dated, lacking in modern comforts such as air conditioning which was sorely needed during our stay. Definitely not up to our expectations of a Fairmont resort. As a result, we cut short our stay and moved to another hotel in town with air conditioning and more up to date facilities.

Review 74:Even though it is a bit out of town, the resort setting is lovely, pastoral and peaceful

Review 75:The rooms are tired and could do with a serious refresh.

Review 76:The location and grounds were brilliant. Really beautiful. The bed was a little small - but very comfortable.

Review 77:Hard to find parking. 4 weddings and a concert that weekend so it felt like we did not belong there. Noisy neighbors. Exterior and furnishings outdated and needed attention. Different experience in this hotel vs. the Concierge floor we left in Lake Louise Chateau.

Review 78:The nice staff and the lounge area for lunch. The elks outside our door were memorable. Quick service when asked for something.

Review 79:3 days was not enough to enjoy the whole place!

Review 80:A great experience, nature and leisure in a perfect combination. The staff was friendly and always available for any request.

Review 81:Expensive and no free wifi. Food in Moose's Nook was pricy and somewhat disappointing. Decor in lodges a bit dated.

Review 82:Beautiful site by Lac Beauvert. Friendly staff.

Review 83:The key is difficult to keep and there is no free wifi.

Review 84:The location is great, with beautiful lake beside. There are a lot of facilities: golf course, swimming pool, horse riding and etc. My kids enjoyed it a lot.

Review 85:Long walk to our room. Nice when we got there but had to use valet service always with the car as no parking is available for the lake side rooms. Had to add extra time for everything we did. Valets were great always pleasant and friendly. Good ambassadors.

Review 86:Excellent location. Very pleasant staff. Food was good but nothing special.

Review 87:Italien restaurant was definetely the worst we had during 2 weeks in Canada.

Review 88:Nice surrounding, great lobby and beautiful garden around the main building. Very friendly staff

Review 89:Nothing except that breakfast is not included and is expensive. Other than this, everything was excellent. We dont have much taking part in the daily activities. A must revisit resort!

Review 90:The bedding is so confortable. Though the bedroom is not air conditioned, it is very cooling at night. We enjoyed our stay at the Park Lodge. Will revisit again in future to enjoy the lush greenery and scenery. Thumbs up! Will recommend to friends and golfers.

Review 91:Awesome hotel! Our family really enjoyed our stay in Jasper. This was our first stay at a Fairmont hotel, we are looking forward to our next vacation with Fairmont.

Review 92:The lake view suite we lived actually is not so close to the lake, and the view of the lake is facing some trees instead

Review 93:The lodge is located in a park with a beautiful lake.

Review 94:1. Most of the rooms do not have air conditioning. 2. Service at the restaurant is extremely slow. 3. Waiters at the restaurant are not well trained

Review 95:Location is great. Rooms are nice but lack of air conditioning.

Review 96:My only suggestion for improving the experience would be to offer some complimentary services such as free wi-fi (without having to join the president's club) or have a continental breakfast. The Lodge is wonderful but pricey place to stay and having a few complimentary offered to guests would make the stay even better.

Review 97:The location of JPL is fantastic. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive. We stayed in a renovated room and it was spacious and modern but was true to the history of the Lodge. We had a wonderful stay.

Review 98:Some of the things that were not great: 1. Our reservation was clearly for 6 people and this was confirmed to me on check in. I was then asked if I wanted the sofa bed made up. As there were only 2 double beds in the room I think that this is obvious otherwise 2 people have nowhere to sleep. This was the only hotel where the sofa bed was not ready when we checked in. Unfortunately I had to telephone at 10pm to say that the bed was still not ready but I was told that I had to wait as housekeeping was busy and would get to us when they could. With 2 young children who were tired I found this unacceptable. It was nearly 11pm when housekeeping came to make the bed. 2. The only hotel where we had to pay for internet. 3. The restaurant meal was good but very expensive for what we had. The salmon on the children's menu had too much pepper on it. The waiter however was very friendly. 4. Breakfast costs 31$ per person - wow! After eating at the restaurant on our first night we didn't feel that we wanted to spend that much per person on breakfast.

Review 99:During our 3 week holiday around Canada this was the most expensive and most luxurious place we stayed in. The pluses: 1. The location was beautiful. 2. Our room was very comfortable. 3. Plenty of things to do on site. We hired a canoe and went out on the lake which was stunning. 4. The pool was brilliant. Beautiful view while sitting in the hot tub. Very relaxing after our hike.

Review 100:The suite was not big enough for 5. Double beds very small with children sharing beds and little space when sleeping. Requested an upstairs suite but given downstairs one which meant we could not go to sleep until neighbours upstairs did.

Review 101:Fantastic pool, wonderful lake views.

Review 102:Parking was difficult when checking in and arriving at lodge

Review 103:I liked the relaxed feeling of staying in individual lodges, dining on the Emerald Terrace patio and the beautiful grounds.

Review 104:The room was dirty and had not been cleaned - upon our arrival at this "Fairmont" there was a wet spot on the carpet, a sticky section on the floor beside the bed, garbage in the night side table drawer, dust covering everything and glass "rings" on the table. They have young fellows cleaning the rooms and they don't do a good job. Period.

Review 105:We liked the location - very beautiful and just down the road from the town of Jasper. We had some issues with our room which were dealt with by the staff accordingly to our satisfaction. Staff admitted the rooms and facility need updating and they are working towards this.

Review 106:I think some of the staff were a bit serious. We went into the lake and my parents decided to have dip. It didn't say anywhere not to swim and one of the other staff members told us it was fine and then my parents got back in and they got grilled by this young girl that was working down by the boat shed. I think the place defiantly needs a face lift/maintenance on the cabins.

Review 107:I loved the location, so beautiful by the lake! The lodges are cute they just need some work done on them. Overall lovely place and would stay again!

Review 108:Up graded to a biger room with a jaccuzi tub for 150$ more a night. The jets of the tubs smelled so much it was unusable!!

Review 109:I like the view from the lodge!

Review 110:Cleaning staff! Used Kleenex remained on walkway outside our room for three days! Decks off rooms filthy and unswept! Disappointing for beautiful and expensive resort!

Review 111:Location! Restaurant staff! Alex from Ukraine great!!

Review 112:No Ice near the facility at all. Need to call front desk and they never stop by. Hotel are too far from downtown, without car is impossible to go out.

Review 113:Heating turned off for summer even though it was 8 degrees Celsius at night Room was comfortable but not 5 star A long way from town and a paid shuttle

Review 114:Large well maintained property with beautiful views Good staff

Review 115:sometimes had to park the car a few minutes away, but not really a big deal

Review 116:location on the lake was .... WOW! Also nice to be a few minutes outside of town and not on the main road like so many other hotels

Review 117:housekeeping was unfortunately one of the most horrible experience I have ever had. In the first few minutes I stepped over a swing needle which was on the floor, luckily I was not hurt to much and more luckily it was not one of my kids. We called the guest service who gave us a free WiFi as a gift. Then there was some paper on the couch from before was not removed. Then we used a towel to clean spelled coffee, it was not remove from the room during our entire stay. This hotel was one of our best hotel in regard of the location and room size as well as the facilities and staff, but the housekeeping was very bad

Review 118:location staff room design, size and facilities bed comfort pool

Review 119:We stayed in an old building and paid CAD400 for a tiny and old room.. Jasper is an expensive village with a lot of visitors. That's why one has to pay way too much for low quality accommodations. The worse was to pay for wifi - I wonder why they did not charge for water and electricity?

Review 120:The location is fantastic!

Review 121:First room we were in was next to a "Utility Room" - supplies. Vehicles pulling up and doors banging. Too far from main building. We were moved closer and room very pleasant. It's cabin accommodation and walls very thin. You can hear every word from adjoining room through bathroom.

Review 122:Spectacular view not to be missed. Friendly, helpful staff and food excellent.

Review 123:Reservation was for a Junior Suite with (restricted) lakeview however view was much more restricted than anticipated and "maintenance" had to correct several shortcommings.

Review 124:Nice location in beautiful surroundings

Review 125:Charges for everything. What is a 2% "Destination marketing fee"? The lowest cost restaurant charges $26+tax+service+tip for a burger that was very average and worth maybe $7. Maybe the old retirees feel too embarrassed to comment? Or just don't expect reasonable value?

Review 126:Nice location. Attentive staff.

Review 127:The prices are pretty harsh (can of pop is $7 and a simple clubhouse sandwich is $27) also the service in the lounge is fairly slow.

Review 128:Beautiful views, rooms were a little dated but still very nice, tons of activities and nice staff. Probably the nicest place we have ever stayed over all

Review 129:When we checked in we had a 2 hour delay to get into our rooms because they were trying to cool them down. After we finally got in, they were at least 90degrees. They assured us they would cool with the fane provided. We stayed out of the rooms for the next 3 hours. When we went back in we discovered the heat was on. They came to try and fix the issue and we went to dinner. At 10 pm the rooms were still in the 90s. We finally were moved to other rooms. Horrible experience and had no enjoyment of our $500 a night hotel room.

Review 130:There was nothing we didn't like other than having to leave

Review 131:Everything, staff top notch, had a surprise in our room when we told the we were celebrating our first year together, waiters awesome, we are making this a must every year

Review 132:Very expensive. Room small, inconvenient placement of electrical outlets. Poor WiFi reception. Needs to be brought into the 21st century. Breakfast buffet waste of money. Not enough food even though not busy

Review 133:Great view. The staff was very pleasant.

Review 134:The room assigned to us initially was disgusting, typical of a cheap motel and not a FAIRMONT property. The furniture was extremely old; the bathroom was a cave in the wall; it didn't even have a rack to place a piece of luggage on. Definitely not what we expected of the "luxury" advertized for a Fairmont hotel and the almost $1000 I paid for three nights. I could have stayed at a cheaper hotel in town and just visit the Fairmont. After our complaint, and with the help of a very friendly young lady staff registration member, the hotel management recognized the unfairness of our situation and we were given a nicer room. We also found service at the bar and at the restaurants good, but unreasonably expensive.

Review 135:Location

Review 136:Staff wasn't quite ready for the large amounts of tour groups. In general service wasn't exceptional.

Review 137:Steam heated outdoor pool and steam rooms/saunas indoors were amazing. Very quiet.

Review 138:The hotel was very busy with not enough staff. There was a very large private function that spilled over into the main common area. The group was large and loud. This restricted the areas where the rest of us could attend. Resteraunts were all full and service was slow. Staff did their best but the size of the event limited their ability to help. Not quite what you would expect at a Fairmont property.

Review 139:Can not beat the location.

Review 140:The rain, not much they could do about that.

Review 141:Brittany was perfect in the lobby cafe. Oka Sushi in the promenade is excellent. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff in general was helpful.

Review 142:Fairmont always has small bathroom and bathtub/shower. Hard to maneuver in them. Parking busy near room and hard for large truck to get in/out

Review 143:Fairmont hotels always have very nice beds. They had a crib set up for us upon arrival without request.
