Reviews for Leonardo Royal Hotel Baden- Baden

Review 1:Some details in need of maintenance : window frames, stores, gym equipment. Overwhelmed staff at breakfast during rush hour. Restaurant was apparently completely booked one evening only to find out the next day from our friends that it was half empty.

Review 2:Excellent breakfast food, nice pool, very clean and quite large rooms, comfortable beds, quiet area, rooms are soundproof (ours was just across the elevator and we had no issues).

Review 3:The breakfast buffet was quite poor for the price we paid per person. You could improve the selection of the food and try to refill the buffet as frequent as possible. Also the coffee machine was not always cleaned up, it was overloaded with water, milk from the pipe, it did not look hygienic at all. Same was at the pool when all the used cups were everywhere on the counter and there was no one there to clean them up. Quite messy. When I booked the room, I asked for a double room. Upon my arrival, there was no double room available. It is okay when you are fully booked but you should have emailed me to tell me in advance so that I knew what to expect.

Review 4:Not too far away from the city center. Free parking space. Free wifi in the whole hotel.

Review 5:Love that we did not have to leave the hotel unless we wanted to. We loved walking to the center of town through the park. Quiet area. Spa was wonderful.

Review 6:The location was easily accessible into Baden Baden. We caught a bus on the main road into the town and went to the Christmas market. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. The hotel was staff were very friendly and rooms very clean big and comfortable.

Review 7:The coffee serviced is of exceptionable poor quality, but one can livewith that with plenty nice coffee shops within walking distance in thecenter of town!

Review 8:Overpriced for what you are getting. The wifi is poor (for the"free" option but you can get a suposedly better one for a fee). The restaurant was not good, very limited in options and opening hours, with unfriendly staff. The worst part was the "dos" part. Although we had access to the swimming pool area + sauna + steam bath, the steam bath was relatively cold and it was not adjusted even after asking a few times to reception. But what made it bad is the fact that we couldn't get any massage service. We spontaneously went downstairs to see what we could get and it turned out to be "fully booked" for the next 2 days, although half of the rooms they had down there were empty. It was really frustrated since we wanted to go for a spa weekend and we only got half of it.

Review 9:The location is quite good, walking distance from the city center and all the relevant touristic attractions that Baden-Baden has to offer. The room we were in was relatively spacious, very clean and with all you could expect for that price. The bed was also very comfy. Also, although the buffet breakfast was expensive, the choice & quality of the food is very good.

Review 10:It's a little bit far from any shops or restaurant The restaurant close too early for a hotel far away from any restaurant

Review 11:The room was big enough Clean furniture

Review 12:My teenage daughter and I stayed in this lovely hotel for two nights. The room containing two double beds was spacious and very comfortable. The smimming pool and spa area was very relaxing. We didn't eat dinner in the restaurant but ordered pizza to our room on one of the evenings. The staff were both helpful and friendly.

Review 13:Staff were very rude and not welcoming. When your on a holiday and paying good money for accommodation, a smile from staff would be nice.

Review 14:Location, rooms were clean, pool and sauna were great.

Review 15:Staff was not really helpful. On check in I was not informed about anything really, apart from the location of the room. I had to ask about everything. It is more like a strong 3* than 4*

Review 16:I liked the location. The room was large. Breakfast was really good.

Review 17:Photo's are out-dated and do not give an honest perspective on the rooms. The rooms were very tired, marks all over the walls, carpets worn and grubby, bed was old and uncomfortable, Pillows had no support whatsoever, bathroom grubby, rust on appliances, not a walk in shower, you have to step into a bath which was fine for us as a young couple but you can see this could pose an issue for older people or people with mobility issues. Now onto the Cleanliness. The room had a real musty smell when we got in, like stale sweat which was tried to cover up with air freshener or something. The sheets had hairs all over them, there were dozens of mosquitoes and we spent most of the evening trying to get rid of them. We arrived late at night so did not bother bringing this up to the reception as we had booked one of the superior double rooms, this was the best they had to offer, We lay some towels down on the bed and kept our clothes on to try to get some sleep to continue our journey the next day! There was no car parking in the car park so we had to park on the street. When we brought up our observations to the girl on reception when we were checking out she just looked at us and totally ignored our feedback, we did not push this as we felt it was not fair to take out our bad experience on a young girl who was left in charge of reception and obviously had no idea or training on how to deal with any type of negative feedback. The whole experience was disappointing, We felt we could rely on Leonardo Hotels after staying at a very good one in Antwerp a few years ago. It's safe to say that we could not wait to leave this hotel. The only redeeming factor being the breakfast was very good.

Review 18:Location and Breakfast

Review 19:the staff - their attitude and their lack of professionalism

Review 20:the hotel itself was not bad - could do with a little modernisation. Not sure why its called 'royal' as there is nothing 'royal' about it

Review 21:The staff - basically rude, not helpful and ignorant . Lack of training and unprofessional

Review 22:The location was good - facilities were ok - the hotel needs upgrading and is a little tired

Review 23:Water in the rooms is not free. We asked a small water and paid him the value of 6 euros and this amount is exaggerated ,, does not have to help us carry bags but thank Hossam to help us in everything

Review 24:The hotel is great in terms of location of the Centre only ten minutes walk .. Excellent cleanliness of the hotel and parking free .. I thank the receptionist (Hossam) to assist us in everything الفندق رائع من ناحية مكانه للسنتر فقط عشرة دقائق مشي.. نظافة الفندق ممتازه و مواقف السيارات مجانيه.. أشكر موظف الاستقبال (حسام) على مساعدته لنا في كل شي

Review 25:I chose this hotel only for indoor swimming pool however the pool and all the spa and fitness facilities were closed at those days. The problem is no one informed us about this inconvenience. We booked for five nights but we left after first day. We mooved to another hotel, payed 1/3 less, got the same service. No need to pay more than other hotels just for the pool. At least the manager accepted to give money back.

Review 26:Small parking spots.

Review 27:I liked the crew. They are very helpful and friendly. The hotel is fairly situated close to the downtown reserving a great distance and quite neighborhood.

Review 28:The staff treatment was unsatisfying at all.. The airconditioning was put on the heat during august, which made the room hotter than the weather outside.. When we asked them to fix it they ignored our request and told us we checked it and it is working!!!! The hotel also is old..

Review 29:I liked the location of the hotel, the garden.

Review 30:In my room the AC was not cooling even after the staff came to fix it. The laugage have to be transferred to the room by the customers in a small elevator. Parking is sometimes full

Review 31:Location is perfect. Close to city center

Review 32:restaurant was closed both nights !!! parking on site a bit tight

Review 33:lovely clean hotel , room was great, plenty of choice on buffet breakfast. great for exploring the black forest

Review 34:Very bad experience. This hotel is a disgrace to all the many hotels inBaden-Baden! Do not book a room! The personal is untrained staff, unfriendly, totally unprofessional and they should not ever have ahotel or run a hotel. The rooms are filthy and smelly like old moistcarpets.... Old heating systems and furniture looks like as they wherefrom the former hotel owners around 40 years earlier. Nobody is incharge or helping you to carry your luggage. We left 1.5 hours afterrenting the place as there was no parking available when I came backfrom buying medicine for my husband. They just said that is not oftheir business and if I leave the car at their the entry they call thetowing car. Never ever in my life we were treated as bad as at thishotel!!!! They still charged the room even after 1.5 hours we left atfull rate. Now we will inform the city, the tourist office and theGerman consumer agency as well we will take a lawyer. All this madethis occasion a very bad one. Thanks that this is only a one of a badkind experience in Baden-Baden.

Review 35:I liked the closeness to town!

Review 36:The parking slots are not enough comparing to the guests There are no porters in the hotel The restaurant is below the expectations The hotel is 10-15 minutes away from downtown while there are better hotels closer to lichtentaler allee

Review 37:The crew are cooperative and helpful The room is big and has wide view balcony The hotel issues guest card which provide discounts and offered within Baden-Baden

Review 38:Staff let it down Reasonable breakfast Staff had no idea of any good restrauants but beauty salon girls did recommend and excellent Italian venue, Di Pietro Long walk thru unpleasant street to city

Review 39:The beds were comfortable

Review 40:Bad location with limited car parking . Far away from center. Coffee maker is not working. Sound is not isolated between rooms.

Review 41:Staff was nice. Balcony.

Review 42:- No helping during lifting my baggage's - Parking is very hard to found - When I ask for electric adaptor they ask me to pay insurance of 20 euro , while it is only worth 2 euros - Daily password for the internet

Review 43:- breakfast

Review 44:Was told the restaurant was not open in evening for dinner but that it a two minute stroll to town, it was more like a 20 minute walk, the sauna & steam room not available until 2pm & we wanted to use first thing. It was definitely not up to a four star quality, and if you wanted any help on erection you had to wait as only Ever one member of staff

Review 45:Not a lot,location poor

Review 46:The decor in the room was a little tired and the bed wasn't soft enough for me.

Review 47:A lovely walk into Baden-Baden along the river. Very friendly staff. Good size room with gorgeous view and balcony.

Review 48:Breakfast priced as extra at Eur 18. Staff not particularly helpful with some informations. Limited restaurant menu.

Review 49:Location, free use of pool and sauna.

Review 50:Come on guys you pay a good price for rooms and no free wi-do in rooms I'm travelling europe and been in some lovely hotels all supplying free wi-fi in your room a must for travellers.

Review 51:Room was great fantastic views hotel lovely

Review 52:Reception staff were not friendly, beside they give us a blue wristband for breakfast to keep for all our stay. It was like we are presioners and those wristbands are non-removable. I asked gently to remove it as i can't keep it. They refuse to remove. This was not how 4-Stars hotel treat their residents.

Review 53:Breakfast, Location, Room View and room size was good

Review 54:I was disappointed that the whirlpool was not working when we were there.

Review 55:The hotel staff is totally competent and friendly. The big pool, complete with sauna and steam bath are great. My daughter forgot to bring her mobile phone charging cable along and the hotel has a supply of them. Unbelievable! We only had to put a refundable deposit and my daughter was elated she could charge her phone. Staff at the bar was very friendly.

Review 56:1.Air-conditioner Is useless Should not considered air-condition hotel 2.Too much noise for the rooms oppisit to the car park 3. Need to walk 12 minutes to the center

Review 57:Free parking Free internet

Review 58:1- toileterie is recycled and quality of soap and shampoo 2- no conceirge 3- cannot control the AC

Review 59:1- free parking 2- free wi fi 3- big room with a big balcon on green view 4- friendly staff with fast checkin and checkout

Review 60:Staff are unprofessional, they neglect all your previous request when booking- poor breakfast and the way they check the rooms no. at the breakfast door is humilaiting. I have notice several rude attitude from the hotel receptionsts toward Arab (racist attitude). I would never book in this hotel again . قليليين الادب جدا مع العرب لم اصادف موقف شخصي لكن شاهدتهم بصفة عامة كيف يتعاملون مع العرب و انقهرت جداً من تصرفهم

Review 61:Spacious room

Review 62:Breakfast could be chaotic with few clean tables and replenishment of foods. Evening food available in bar but very little choice.

Review 63:Good room with balcony. Lovely walk along the river into town.

Review 64:Free wifi was a bit unreliable, staff were a little unfriendly, enormously overpriced breakfast.

Review 65:Good location near bus routes and with a pleasant walk into town, very comfortable and clean room.

Review 66:The staff was not friendly When i made check in they ask me alot about my children . Next day i went to the retaurant to buy orange juice and the women who work there said that we have but we cant serve you because we have alot of guests i said im guest to then she said try later i called the restaurant after 2 hours and they said the same i went down and there was only 3 tables with guests

Review 67:Clean and big room . The view is beutiful from the terrace .

Review 68:My only critisism would be that there are so many areas you can sit in outside which are lovely but it can be difficult to find the way to get to them.

Review 69:I liked the fact they provide a good parking facility, also the location is fantastic with a lovely short walk along the river to town. The facilities were excellent and the rooms were spacious and well equipped

Review 70:Room was spacious and very clean. Especially appreciated the air-conditioning due to one of hottest spells across Europe in years. Adjacent parking to hotel was appreciated.

Review 71:I loved the hotel. It was in a good location, close to the center of town. Everyone was very nice. Hotel had parking which was good for us since we had a car.

Review 72:Lack of staff at hotel resulted in poor hospitality every time you wanted anything from the bar during the day had to go to reception and get them to find someone which generally resulted in a 10 minute wait. My husband doesn't like drinking out of large tankards but on each occasion he asked for a particular beer but requested a tall glass instead he had the same debate with a particular member of staff who stated she couldn't serve that beer in any other glass but the tankard not sure what happened to the customer always being right!!! Only 14 sun beds available in the hotel garden so unable to use the garden on some afternoons.

Review 73:The location was excellent only a 10inutr stroll into the centre of Baden.

Review 74:Restaurant was closed for my 4 night stay leaving a choice of a burger/tuna pizza/club sandwich in the bar or going into town - a15 min walk! General manager says he only opens restaurant if "sufficient guests have booked" so do not anticipate availability! Not what Booking.com said at time of booking

Review 75:Swimming pool and sauna were very welcomed after a day's riding

Review 76:The spa was closed on Sunday. The restaurant was closed on Saturday night. Breakfast was expensive.

Review 77:The room was large, clean and air conditioned. Nice terrace with seating and a lovely view. Good wifi, hard to find in Germany.

Review 78:the price was very high the poor services I got. the most importat thing in the hotel is to be comfortable, but this hotel was not. 1- the A/C didn't work. when telling the front disk they said it's broken !!!! the weather was too hot inside we were sweating and we couldn't sleep, so we had to open the window and sleep with hearing screaming and nuisance of 2 am people!!!. 2- there were no WiFi. 3- parking was full we had to park on the road!!!. lastly our stay was miserable

Review 79:I did not like anything.

Review 80:Parking was full at night but the front desk didn't try to help. The A/C in the room was not functioning. The guy(same one) from the front desk who came to our room to check was not helping either.

Review 81:Extra size bed.

Review 82:Function taking place on outside terrace until 2am below our room - no manager on duty to ask the guests to go inside. Why give us a room so close to the function room? Why not ask us at check-in if we were a function guest?

Review 83:Location and size of room.

Review 84:Expensive ... low value for money... check in is not that fast... wifi is good and if you want it better you have to pay for it (not cheap)

Review 85:The staff were very helpful... the parking is free... 10 min walk to the town center, the terrace in rooms is very nice ... the breakfast is excellent and has lots of varieties as usual in Germany... the rooms are spacious, wifi signal was good... shower is great..

Review 86:- Room was 30C inside and was not able to breath or stay in the room! Unfortunately A/C's were still not enabled for the season, but when we asked the house keeper staff she immediately offered a fan which solved the problem when opening the balcony door for circulation. - Breakfast price is a bit expensive for Eur19 pp. An alternate option would be to go to a nearby coffee shops in the centre. - Pool was slightly colder than expected but okay.

Review 87:Clean spacious room. Spa area Fast Wifi Friendly staff Location Modern hotel Large screen TV

Review 88:Angry at the time waiting to be served our food at the restaurant. 1 and a half hours to get our starters. Lift in the hotel was slow and had to queue to get in.

Review 89:Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Review 90:- It was very hot, 30 degrees, even though it was only mid May, but they didn't want to turn on the air-conditioning system

Review 91:- Parking, breakfast and WIFI included. - Located very near down town. - Front Office staff was very courteous and helpful.

Review 92:The new room didn't have a TV remote control (and I didn't bother to ask for one since I have a remote control app on my phone) . When I left the hotel, I received an email from the staff asking me if I took the remote control with me and that I should return it or they'll charge me 25 euros. Umm, why would I take a remote control with me?

Review 93:Our room was too hot and it turned out that the heater was broken. So the staff gave us a free upgrade to a bigger room.

Review 94:Hotel staff closed the restaurant for a booking; we had to eat in noisy bar with people and their dogs! Wish they provided transportation from the train station and the spa, or better directions. Not really in city center.

Review 95:Great & clean hotel, indoor pool, spa. Room was very nice, good elevators, good food, nice front-desk staff. Curacella spa!

Review 96:I hate internet when this is provided by provider like in this hotel! I just have bad experience over years. To open web pages - good enough. But if you think of watching streaming on line (like me wanting to watch homeland daily news) - this does not work!

Review 97:Silence outside of hotel. And smell of grass and forest :-)

Review 98:The food selection in the restaurant wasnt a huge variety. The parking wasnt great and I had to park on the street.

Review 99:I loved the fact there was a gym, pool and sauna. The rooms and bed were comfortable. The staff were very friendly and on hand whenever I needed anything.

Review 100:Very poor wifi, it is almost dead, the location of the hotel is weak 3G signal, so they reduced spped of the free wifi to force you to buy a fast wifi for 19€ per night, very cheap act.

Review 101:Bed size, room size with the terrace.

Review 102:Bizarre dinner, reluctant staff. The reception and restaurant staff were not very welcoming, and the food was a strange mixture: well cooked duck breast, almost inedible pasta and marinated beef.

Review 103:Size of room, size of pool.

Review 104:The parking for the hotel lets it down, there is underground parking however not many spaces, the spaces aren't that wide so if someone hasn't parked properly, it leaves little room for anyone else. We had to park on the street outside the hotel but the chances of having a space when you return from day out can vary.

Review 105:The hotel itself is lovely inside, only a 15 minute walk to the town if you take the scenic route by the river. Be really nice in the summer waking through the gardens. There's an old castle ruin that is only a 15 minute drive, free entry and has a nice cafe for food.

Review 106:What a wonderful hotel! at the last minute we had to cancel due to car issues but the staff was so amazing and understanding. We ended up checking in a day late but the Staff bent over backwards to accommodate us. we asked the front desk for things to do and after dinner the front desk provided a map, brochures and addresses of all of the interesting things to see in baden baden. I will absolutely go back! The room and bathroom were so comfortable, clean and spacious. the location was perfect, we walked about 10 minutes to the city center. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the food in the restaurant during dinner was also very good.

Review 107:internet was slow. There is a bar, not a restaurant for having dinner.

Review 108:We enjoyed a hotel location, very nice walking area just in few meters away, breakfast was nice with a view to the small garden, swimming pool and a gym are small, but clean and enjoyable.

Review 109:Curtains/blinds were terrible- let in a lot of light.

Review 110:Delicious breakfast, including champagne on the weekends! Huge room. Although not in town, very close to bus and beside a nice stream.

Review 111:I chose this hotel because of it's "spa". It is Baden-Baden after all, and I was on a long distance drive across Europe, on my own. I booked a one night stay on-line and then phoned in advance to book a treatment after my intended arrival time of 5pm on Saturday , I was told that was not possible as they closed at 4pm! Well "Sunday morning will be fine" I said. "No, we are closed on Sunday" came the reply. So, no spa for me in Baden Baden, the famous Spa town. Please don't promote what you can't supply.

Review 112:Hotel was nice

Review 113:Swimming Pool could be a bit warmer, it was too cold. At booking.com, it said there was a "playground" and we thought it would be an "indoor" playground as it is available in many other Hotels. However, it was an external playground and, as it was snowing, it was useless. We traveled with our Infant daughter and would like to enjoy the "playground" with her but it was not possible. Also, the central heating was extremely difficult to use and our room got quite cold because we couldn't make it work properly.

Review 114:The room was quite big and the staff was very attentive. It was also nice that the Hotel offered free parking. Location was also pretty nice.

Review 115:Very friendly, efficient and helpful staff. The wellness facilities are superb. The view out onto the Lichtental Avenue and the large balcony extremely attractive. It took us only 10 minutes to walk into town. Breafast also an excellent selection despite the fact that champagne is only served at the weekend!

Review 116:Comfortable hotel located approximately 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Good access to buses for the station, city centre and all of the attractions. Good breakfast. Worth noting that Baden Baden train station is approximately 7km from the town centre but bus number 201 from the station drops you at the top of the road (Falkenstrasse). Same bus stop to travel to Merkurbergbahn which is fantastic value and well worth a visit.

Review 117:Nothing was really bad enough to complain, but if we are nitpicking, then the "two beds stuck together as one" for double-bed was annoying, especially since the duvet was actually two duvets! First time I see this and quite surprising in a four stars hotel. My hamburger was delicious and huge, but I was surprised that the bread was cold. Like I said : nitpicking. Also, it was a shame that the restaurant was closed (we ate in the bar, so I don't know if that makes a big difference)

Review 118:The theme of the decor was very pleasant and to our tastes (Leonardo da Vinci paintings everywhere). The personnel was welcoming and very helpful (and spoke great English). The room was huge and even had a little balcony (shame the weather was so dreary). And of course, the swimming pool and jacuzzi were awesome and not too crowded. Lovely food in the restaurant, too. And the breakfast was sumptuous. Well worth the price. The place was only a short walk from the city centre, with a good free parking, and the walk along the river is wonderful.

Review 119:It was raining the night we went to Baden Baden so we had dinner at the hotel. It was absolutely delicious! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 120:It does not correspond to a 4 stars hotel. After the first night our room was not dressed up, because, they said: "you did not pay very expensive"!? The fitness room is very small and bad equipped.

Review 121:Not very far from the city center and the Thermes. Parking available.

Review 122:The breakfast quality was poor and the staff too slow to respond to the customers needs. Not at all worth the price! For a 4 star hotel, the way the beds were arranged after the first overnight stay was very careless. Overall was not bad; simply not worth an 8!

Review 123:Room was nice and not small. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was warm and the corridors perfumed.

Review 124:breakfast much too modest for 19 euro / person; generally the prices in the restaurant are to high for what they offer; for example I paid 31 euro for a bottle of red wine (they call it special offer) with metallic screwcap, which resembled vinegar

Review 125:very good and quiet location to visit Baden-Baden and enjoy a rest; comfortable and clean rooms, nice personnel

Review 126:Our room was spacious and comfortable. Reception area was nice and the staff helpful and friendly. The wellness area was also spacious. We enjoyed our two nights at the hotel.

Review 127:The location was quite hard to find due to the one way system. It would of been very hard to find without a sat-nav.

Review 128:The staff were very helpful and friendly. One day the car park was full so we asked at reception where we could park and the member of staff offered to move his car so we could use his parking space - how helpful is that? The rooms were very spacious, clean and there was nothing to complain about. The beds were huge, very comfy. A large tv with a great selection of chanels (we had bbc 1, itv, channel 4). A clean and decent sized bathroom, ample mirrors and good lighting. There was quite a lot of plug sockets and so lots of places to plug things in. A small balcony with table and chairs was a welcome addition. Also the location was a very nice town/small city. A very short distance from lovely mountain and forest scenery with a large peaceful river running near the hotel. The staff also spoke very good english, they were very helpful, friendly and made our stay wonderful. We also had a small surprise when we got there of some sweets left on the bed as I made a small request for something to surprise us. - All in all, we would definitely stay here again.

Review 129:The restaurant was closed on a wednesday... as a business guest this is very bad. There are no restaurants close to the hotel. what I see from other reviews, is that they think it's normal to close the restaurant... So only book this hotel if you want to eat somewhere else(and go by taxi)

Review 130:Ok rooms.

Review 131:It was school vacation and many parents were letting their children run wild in the hotel, pool, and bar areas. So watch out for rude guests! Also, the restaurant was disappointing, no pesto on the pesto penne and no pita bread with the greek salad and pita offering. Also the front desk "sold" us some discount cards for use in Town, even though we insisted we did not want them. All in all, this place is nice and knows it is nice, so there is some arrogance here.

Review 132:the room is comfy, bed is great. Coffee and tea in the room. Very nice pool and sauna area. Lovely walking around the hotel, but a little far from the town center.

Review 133:The hotel manager Mr. Almar is a very kind person. He gives personal attention to vacationers. Also give us advice about where to vacation. Highly recommended hotel.

Review 134:Staff, large rooms, sauna and swimming pool, facilities, perfect room service, good breakfast and restaurant, parking, near to highway exit. All in all a very good hotel with perfectly reasonable prices

Review 135:at breakfast on Sunday morning there were more guests than seats. After talking with 3rd waitress still no answer received where exactly should we spend our breakfast.

Review 136:good location, nice area, plenty of parking slots. Good value for money
