Reviews for Sun Peaks Grand Hotel & Conference Centre
Review 1:- Bed was not that comfortable - Housekeeping left a little to be desired. Ex... Didn't replace towels, bed making was not good. Room was clean however.
Review 2:Everyone was excellent! Super friendly, and helpful. Really liked the Club Room.
Review 3:The small stuff was missed e.g. Housekeeping didn't replenish shampoos/ lotions, or coffee supplies. Would have been nice to have small touches of comfort in the lobby like a basket of fruit or a cookie after skiing ( often see this in Delta/Fairmonts)
Review 4:Liked the hot tub and pool. The spa area had good supply of towels etc. Staff was very helpful and polite for anything we requested Valet service for skis was super !
Review 5:The restaurant and bar food menu Could have healthier and more value based on cost. Misuse of the 5th floor club room.
Review 6:Staff has alwsys been helpful.. The rooms on the fifth floor always great..
Review 7:The only negative is the rooms need a little work.
Review 8:Loved the club lounge! Avril and Bill made the trip! So welcoming and warm..we will be back! Book the club room access if you can..the views are amazing!
Review 9:Internet is pretty much non functional. In the room signal was very weak, often unavailable. Could not do any of my online banking, sessions were dropped by RBC. Regardless of location - room or lobby, I could not do any of my online regular activities - reading webmails, checking BBC, CBC news, checking my online banking.
Review 10:- Tap water is not drinkable - our room smells a bit strange (don't know how to describe that smell) - Car park a bit tight. - WiFi: intermittent interruption and slow (maybe because of high season)
Review 11:1) Excellent location to Village Lodge, restaurant and ski hill! 2) Ticket rental just on the lower lobby - very convenient. 3) Outdoor pool is great! 4) Gym is well-equipped.
Review 12:Signage. Difficult to find because it is located among similar buildings. They charged us outside parking even though there were few guests
Review 13:The Mantles Restaurant
Review 14:Fire alarm was set off and we were evacuated at 1145pm due to an event being held in one of their clubs. Smoke machine caused the whole building to have to be evacuated. Not good after running nearly 26km on the mountain!
Review 15:Very clean and comfortable. Great location.
Review 16:I was a little disappointed with breakfast.. Eggs benedict which were cold on an untoasted piece of muffin. However my partners breakfast was good.
Review 17:The location
Review 18:Everything. We came in summer, and enquired over the rates for winter, ie over Xmas. Not too much higher, which is amazing. We are now planning a white Xmas at Sun Peaks.
Review 19:Rudest check in I have ever encountered. ("name," Credit card and ID". The lifts behind you, third floor") No idea if we could have got breakfast or any food there as he didn't say!
Review 20:Broke journey from Vancouver to Jasper
Review 21:Even though it was check in time, we had to wait almost 1 hour for our room. This is not adequate for a hotel of this standard.
Review 22:Clean; Location: Everything is nearby
Review 23:Pool was packed with kids. Would be nice to have an adult hour or two. We checked out at 11am and by the time we got to the restaurant it was 11:30... breakfast was done, lunch menu offered but we went out and tried to find somewhere else to go. When we decided to come back for lunch we were told no food was being served and to come back in 15... ??!? very frustrating.
Review 24:Room was very quit
Review 25:Room was dusty on arrival. Had to ask for replacement toiletries plus tea and milk as none were left after 'cleaning'.
Review 26:Although we had booked a room with balcony the corner room was beautifully light and comfortable. Helpful staff. Very good wifi.
Review 27:I wasn't aware at the time of booking that there would be such a large fee for our dog. I was also disappointed that parking cost extra.
Review 28:The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Clean, modern, spacious rooms.
Review 29:Pool was a bit dirty
Review 30:Quality hotel with all the facilities you would need, easy parking and good Wi-Fi, close to good restaurants, comfortable rooms and bed
Review 31:The location is perfect, right in the heart of the Sun Peaks village! Comfortable bed, great service, beautiful lobby! Staff was very helpful. Room was a good size and clean.
Review 32:Liked the hiking tour it was really fun to go with a guide People were very friendly We're surprised that none of the hotel staff could not give us any info, had to figure it out ourselves
Review 33:we arrived the day before the summer kick off and literally had the whole town to ourselves. What a little gem, so glad we stopped over here for a few nights rather than kamloops, everyone should know about this place!! Great views from the mountain view room and such a great bed.
Review 34:Breakfast room was deserted and the buffet did not look fresh, so we went elsewhere for breakfast
Review 35:Good standard of hotel beds very comfortable although decoration is now a little dated
Review 36:Good stopping off point between Whistler & Jasper, 4 & 3/4 of an hour drive. Not busy early June so had a great rate of CAD 125. Lovely large room with King bed. Very impressive hotel.
Review 37:Extremely noisy room above the club, complained to reception about it but nothing was done. The restaurant staff were also very pushy, pestering us throughout our meal. Need to work on customer service!
Review 38:Liked the pool and hot tub, comfortable bed, ideal location
Review 39:parking too expensive charge lower rate and you will get more business? too many varying prices do any two groups ever pay the same rom rate guy next to me payed less? not cool
Review 40:No microwave in the room plus it's not free parkinh
Review 41:It's a top-notch hotel! The bed is comfy, tv is great, supplies are great too. I love that there are 3 types of pools.
Review 42:It was a little dirty In the change rooms for the pool and there was a loud michanical noise from the room next door
Review 43:The location on the hill was good the food at the restaurant was excellent.
Review 44:It was loud and there were a lot of young people partying until all hours. Hot tubs were full of drunk young adults. Tv would lose signal often.
Review 45:Staff were very friendly and the pool was great. The hotel is in prime location of the resort.
Review 46:The Grand was ideally located close to the lifts. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We just loved the hot tubs and sauna after hitting the slopes. Great spot to unwind. Would definitely go again especially with great deal we got on booking.com
Review 47:The room was not cleaned very well upon our arrival. The large fireplace in the lobby was not working.
Review 48:Skiing out the door in the morning and then relaxing in the hot tub with a fabulous view in the afternoon. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 49:Our room was hardly the mountain view promised but front desk quickly remedied the situation. Rooms proved too warm at night especially when combined with heavy duvet. We opened small windows and ran the air conditioning despite the cold outside.
Review 50:Friendly, helpful staff, especially at front desk, restaurant, and ski valet. Location can't be beat and hotel restaurant quite good compared to other options
Review 51:Very disappointed about being charged for a local phone call. I think it's extre cheap, especially in this day in age with free landlines. Leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.
Review 52:Ski in ski out was a good feature.
Review 53:Request for early check in and late check out was denied, despite the fact we arrived 11:00 am on a Friday and left on a Sunday. We were told our room was close to a microwave since the room doesn't have one. Once we finally got our room we realized that the only microwaves available were on other floors as there are none available on the fourth floor. I don't think it would be unreasonable to have a microwave on every floor.
Review 54:Location was great, pool was a plus and three hot tubs was great
Review 55:We were not to regulate the temperature in our room, felt like we were sleeping in a summer heat wave all night blankets off, waking up sweating etc... When bringing our issue to the hotel desk at the end of our stay, we were told that it was normal for in room temperatures to be that warm!
Review 56:Given a room on the 4 floor even though we had a pet and had booked in November on the 2nd floor. We were constantly been told each day by staff we met on the 4th floor we were not to be there and why were we. Embarrassing in front of other guests.
Review 57:Fitness room. Sun Peaks resort in general was very enjoyable with lots of friendly people everywhere we went.
Review 58:The jets in the hot tubs were pretty weak. The parking charges were unwelcome.
Review 59:The closeness to the slopes, easy ski lockers, and cosy beds. The staff were friendly.
Review 60:What a great find--a smaller Whistler with less people, great snow and great value for money. Hotel staff were lovely, rooms and facility very solid in all departments. We'll be going back for sure
Review 61:The beds could be a little bit more comfortable, but not terrible. The room temperature was unbearable! We felt like we were sleeping in the Sahara...we had maintenance come and try to fix it but were told that they really couldn't do anything to help...they're system is designed poorly and they've had many complaints and aren't able to make the temperature cooler. I will say though, the guy was very apologetic and at least tried to make things better.
Review 62:The staff, amenities, restaurant, and location were all great.
Review 63:The people attending the wine festivities were extremely rude. Standing in the way of the elevator, taking up the full width of the stairs (not moving over to let us go up the stairs ) etc. This is not the hotels fault, but something to think about, maybe the hotel needs to move these people out of the main hallways so the hotel customers can get their luggage to their rooms.
Review 64:Friendly staff, easy access to the ski hill
Review 65:Probably sitting out in the hot tubs surrounded by the snow. Loved that. Very magical especially as it was Christmas. Gorgeous Buffett breakfast. Staff very friendly nice clean comfortable rooms.
Review 66:Nothing really, price for the night was quite a bit but it is peak season so thats reasonable.
Review 67:How the view from our room you could see the ski hill and lifts
Review 68:Paid parking was a challenge - too many cars and spaces were so narrow many cars were taking up two spaces.
Review 69:Location was excellent. Walk to shops and lifts.
Review 70:All staff members of the hotel were outstanding apart from the front desk clerk who checked us in on Jan 01. That fellow was a bit of a "dud", not enthusiastic, positive or trying very hard. Overall our stay at the hotel was very enjoyable !
Review 71:Zero security ski valet- you could literally walk up and tell the guy a room number and he'd hand over skis. The front desk staff were not very helpful & never asked how our stay was. The restaurant (Mantles) was terrible.
Review 72:Pool, 3 hot tubs and dry sauna were nice. The concierge was nice.
Review 73:Mantles Restaurant is a waste of time, they should reconsider a new approach. The food, if you got it. Most of the servers were completely obtuse to the needs of the customers even if the place was slow. A real disappointment mentioned by many. They need to put some money into fixing the elevators, they burn up every night and morning. I woke up one morning and I could smell the hydraulic fluid in my suite! Not good. I would be concerned about this from a safety perspective.
Review 74:The Valet were excellent both for my car and my ski's. My room was kept well. David and his team do a great job! Busiest week of the year and they never dropped the ball.
Review 75:We had a problem with our reservation that we had booked. The staff worked hard to track down the error. Although we couldn't get what we had requested, the manager did what he could to compensate for the inconvenience. We were satisfied with the solution, although next year we will reconfirm our reservation.
Review 76:Location is good, staff friendly and efficient, and the room was clean and comfortable.
Review 77:Need better service at the front desk. A loyalty program. Better wifi. Help with luggage. All inclusive buffet so that you can order an omelet at no charge.
Review 78:The breakfast at the hotel was not that good at all, the eggs and hash browns could use a change, maybe using fresh eggs and less salt on the hash browns
Review 79:The staff was very friendly and helpful
Review 80:The hotel restaurant was closed for three days for renovations and there were very limited dining facilities open in the area which would have been nice to know in advance. The bathroom was not swept with room service.
Review 81:I liked the room itself and appreciated that with the hotel almost empty, they placed us with a view to the slopes. Off season meant it was nice and quiet.
Review 82:This was our first visit to Sun Peaks and what we found exceeded our expectations. Although we were there in the off season and many restaurants and services were closed we still found enough open to fill our hungry tummies. The Sun Peaks Grand was amazing! Our kingsize room was very clean & comfy, the staff friendly & helpful.
Review 83:The parking spaces are way too small in the underground parking. It did not affect us because we had many, many parking spaces available, but I could not imagine how awful it would be if we were there during peak season! You have to make spaces bigger and repainted the lines.
Review 84:Nice people ,beautiful hotel, underground parking, good food.
Review 85:The restaurant menu was a bit expensive.
Review 86:The hotel was wonderful, we only stayed one night, it was great. The room was huge, lots of room for the kids to play. Super clean, there was no dust anywhere. The pool and hot tub were fantastic. Overall it was a trip that makes us want to come back.
Review 87:smell of room (and lounge room) was funky - almost dusty? room was hot (i'm usually cold) - the fan or air conditioning would wake me the multiple times it came on
Review 88:location to mountain request for top for acknlowedged concert happening right beside hotel, but the noise level was surprisingly low secure underground parking ($13/night though) restaurant is a little blah - prices high and menu identical as a offsite restaurant
Review 89:Having an outdoor swimming pool and spa tub outside is a must, even in the mountains. It still gets quite hot here at Sunpeaks, during the summer months. The Grand also has air conditioning, which made for a good nights rest!
Review 90:too expensive for one night pet fee parking fee no pet bed or dish supplied pet not allowed in most facilities
Review 91:pet friendly facilities and pool friendly staff walking trails
Review 92:I booked a valley view room on booking.com & on check in that was not stated in my booking, I was given a parking lot view room and requested it be changed, the staff was excellent and changed my room for me.
Review 93:Loved the central location, swimming pool & service
Review 94:Dinner menus was limited, and breakfast coffe was not hot.
Review 95:We like the chair lift to the top. Like to see the mountain bikers. Especially love the wild flowers at the top. Rented Segways and really enjoyed that. Swimming pool and hot tub all great.
Review 96:See above. I enjoyed the use of the pool and the hot tub. The rooms were clean and the staff service was good.
Review 97:I was in a room that had a loud droning noise and I got no sleep the first night. I was provided an alternative room for my second night. However I was only offered a 25% discount for my first night which I didn't feel was good enough considering that I got no sleep and we had a power cut on my first evening. I had been living for a month with limited power and no access to the internet so I needed to catch up on a lot of things and was unable to.
Review 98:The rooms were really outdated
Review 99:The staff were awesome and the pool and hot tubs were great!!
Review 100:Great location ski in ski out. Pool and hot tub facilities were a welcome treat after a great day on the slopes.
Review 101:Stayed in same place for 8 years now and we love it! The convenience to skiing, shops and restaurants.
Review 102:Nothing
Review 103:Staff was very accommodating and the hotel is beautifully decorated
Review 104:Parking price, dated room decor, food bland and pricey, too many dogs
Review 105:Location, hot tubs and ski valet
Review 106:2 out of 3 hot-tubs were out of order; plus the sauna!
Review 107:Really enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the outdoor hot tubs.
Review 108:The property is starting to look a little worn but still comfortable
Review 109:Menu at the restaurant not very diverse
Review 110:Staff very nice
Review 111:Simply love staying here. We've been here 5 times now!
Review 112:Just a little pricey at this time of the year.
Review 113:The hotpools.
Review 114:Limited menu. Ran out of drink ingredients.
Review 115:Location
Review 116:staff needed more training
Review 117:location and beauty of suroundings
Review 118:The staff was friendly and accommodating.
Review 119:Beautiful beautiful place stunning scranary really lovely complex
Review 120:Hotel room wasn't as clean as we expected it would be.
Review 121:Location and variety of available restaurants.
Review 122:Female wait staff was rude and patronizing, catered to tour groups over individual guests.
Review 123:Location was excellent!
Review 124:pool was closed
Review 125:Everything
