Reviews for Kingsbrae Cottage

Review 1:Soundproofing from our suite to the one above was minimal. We could hear them walking around very clearly.

Review 2:Lovely suite, beautiful grounds, staff was very accommodating. Great location.

Review 3:Are you kidding? I have absolutely no complaints!

Review 4:Hospitality and respect from every staff member including the owner. Thesuite was gorgeous, beautifully appointed, comfortable, spacious, withevery amenity. And the bathroom--outstanding--like an expensive spa! Icould have stayed a month. The food and drinks delicious and so gourmet.I felt like I was in a 5 star restaurant but also sitting in my ownliving/dining room. We were travelling with friends and the tworooms were across the hall--like our own two couple suite. Loved thebalcony for fresh air. Being next door to Kingsbrae Gardens was also abonus. We were in 11 overnight properties in 14 days of our trip, andthis was by far and away a superior experience in every respect!

Review 5:The room had a lot of ambient light at night due to glass blocks above the door letting hallway light in. It was also louder than I thought it would be (we could hear every move of the people in the room above us). Only one bar of soap in room so it had to move between sink and shower. The shower was very cramped - servicable but not what I would expect for the cost of the room.

Review 6:Great location.

Review 7:A very comfortable suite. Fresh flowers, biscuits, chocolate and sparkling wine. A delicious breakfast served in our room. We couldn't have had a better stay. Harry and Pamela were very welcoming.

Review 8:It was comfortable, tastefully decorated and the grounds are lovely. A delicious breakfast was personally delivered to our suite in the morning by the owner.

Review 9:Not really a dislike, but with quality of Inn, possibly could have had better choice of inroom tea other than Tetley, possibly Harney, to go with sumptuous, so-called continental breakfast on our deck.. it.set us up until dinner!

Review 10:We traveled 400+ miles from central Vt. and KB Arms met all our expectations for peaceful old world charm location in beautiful seaside village and a gate away from award winning KB Gardens. Pamela was perfect hostess anticipating every need.

Review 11:Paying $306 Cdn for a small room, approx. 13' x 19'. Not learning until seated at dinner at 8pm that it was fixed price, $150 Cdn for the two of us. The dinner was no better than average.

Review 12:The grounds, staff, room, food and entire setting was wonderful. Loved having the delicious breakfast in the garden each morning. Bed was comfy and bathroom fabulous.

Review 13:A small uncomfortable room. TV that didn't work, was told to leave on one channel for thirty minutes for it to download. Still didn't work. Neither did the wifi. At your rates should these issues happen?

Review 14:St. Andrews

Review 15:Breakfasts were great in the Kingsbrae dining room, but dinner was somewhat disappointing. Limited selection and underwhelming entrees.

Review 16:Kingsbrae knows how to treat their guests; greeting us like we were old friends, and recounting details of our last visit there, we felt like we can stay nowhere else.

Review 17:Beautiful country house, I felt like I was staying with friends! As it was my birthday, they upgraded us to a larger room upstairs with a view and even left a gift in my room. I was made to feel very special indeed!

Review 18:The room the first night was terribly small and the light shown in fromthe hall through the transom window. There was no desk to put ourcomputer on. Also, we hadn't been told how to control the a/c(it was hidden in a clock base) and it went on and off all night long.

Review 19:The beautiful suite they moved us to after our first night. Thedelicious (albeit pricey) meal, the prompt service, the lovely waitressat breakfast, the courtesy and prompt help we received after afrustrating first night.

Review 20:Everything. The staff, the owner, the room with a view, food, delightful breakfast each day in charming setting, location, history of the building and interesting décor, Best holiday in years!!!

Review 21:Beautiful facilities, extremely helpful staff

Review 22:Beautiful property

Review 23:Its a lovely place to stay in St. Andrews. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. The food was excellent.

Review 24:I loved the ambience, service, food. I would return and have suggested to friends.

Review 25:I only planned to stay one day. I really wuld ike to have stayed here more days

Review 26:Fantastic accomodations and very gracous hosts

Review 27:Variation in menu for both breakfast and dinner would be preferable.

Review 28:Excellent facilities, staff and location. Food well prepared and presented.

Review 29:Room could have a fridge and nicer toiletries as other Relais et Chateau locations have.

Review 30:The location and staff

Review 31:The location is serene and secluded and the enviroment most relaxing. I'm looking forward to returning.

Review 32:We like room service and that service was not available. We did not dinethere as we were visiting family for the Canadian Thanksgiving and socannot address the dining room service. We only found two glasses in theroom and that was a bit sparse for our needs

Review 33:We enjoyed our stay immensely and were very impressed with the beautifulgrounds. The staff that we met were delightful. The gas fireplace waslovely and so enjoyed on a cool evening

Review 34:Being constantly asked by staff to eat meals at Inn really felt pressured . Meals were extremely expensive. Assumed the price I payed on website was total but it was not and tax was added on by the Inn after the booking was made on Book it

Review 35:The room

Review 36:Disappointed that we were not able to experience their dinner

Review 37:Location, ambience ,politeness & courteousness of staff. Complimentary bottle of Champagne as dining room was not open for dinner

Review 38:The food was absolutely amazing. We had dinner in the restaurant and I asked for a vegetarian meal (not on menu). The chef "whipped up" a meal that was simply wonderful. I really appreciated it!

Review 39:only small point was that our garden room was A bit on the small side.

Review 40:on arrival the reception was excellent. glass of wine offered and accepted. staff were very friendly and helpful. breakfast on the lawn and in the dining room were great with excellent service.

Review 41:No luggage racks in the room. Just one comfortable chair. Ice and coffee only available at the main house when we were down in the cottege. Make them available there too.

Review 42:the bed and linens were first rate. The gardens were just beautiful and we enjoyed reading there after dinner.

Review 43:Air conditioner was a little noisy....But it was very hot outside so you wouldn't typically need it on all night.

Review 44:The French chef! Enjoyed a lovely dinner as well as a delicious breakfast the next morning, overlooking the garden. Also enjoyed the stunning Kingsbrae Gardens next to the hotel. Beautiful and inspiring!

Review 45:our room was small, not enough space to open our suitcases

Review 46:the meals and service were fabulous beautiful Kingsbrae Gardens next door quiet nice furnishings

Review 47:Absolutely lovely and luxurious. The food was unbelievable. The staff young enthusiastic and fun to chat with. Beautiful grounds. We were roaming around the gardens and bumped into the chef who took the time to show us the vegetable and herb fardens. What a treat! It's wirth the splurge!

Review 48:TV didn't work and that only mattered because we had been on the road and wanted to check out the news on TV with a little old fashioned media.

Review 49:It was lovely.

Review 50:Minor point - inability to adjust shower pressure, transom window of entry door allowed light to enter room from main entry hall so room was not dark enough for one of us for sleeping.

Review 51:Food, beds, staff, location.

Review 52:Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Nicely decorated room and surprisingly quiet. The grounds were well cared for in a quiet setting beside a lovely garden.

Review 53:The cable television did not work for several days. We understoodbreakfast was included only to find out at checkout we were charged $40each for breakfast daily (very expensive)

Review 54:The rooms were fairly new and very clean. The gardens were well kept.

Review 55:Absolutely no complaints at all!

Review 56:The staff is just amazing, friendly and extremely professional, thelocation is peaceful, elegant and relaxing. The dining area is one ofthe most elegant I had been in and the dining staff is beyondprofessional caring for your every need sometimes before you evenrealize you have one!

Review 57:Didn't like the fact that we could not walk along the beach too muddy not sure whether all the rain washed out the shoreline or whether it is always like this? Perhaps with the constant tide washing in nothing could ever be done. If this is the case then anyone who was looking for beach, St Andrews by the Sea wouldn't be for families who have beach in mind. Other than this wouldn't change anything we love St Andrews the tranquiity it is a great place to escape to eliminate stress and recharge one's batteries.

Review 58:We loved the room it was very luxuous but at the same time felt like home. The staff were amazing going out of their way to make us feel pampered, the breakfasts were amazing, and the dinner in the evening, the chef prepared the most gastronomical palette popping dinner we have ever tasted. The fresh herbs from the garden was delicious. And finally the bed was so comfortable we slept more hours leaving us refreshed and ready the next morning for a day of exploring the Island. Would not hestitate to recommend this hotel chain to all our friends.

Review 59:-being able to stay only ONE night!

Review 60:-beautiful house, furnishings and gardens -relaxed and welcoming atmosphere -wonderfully comfortable and well appointed room -marvelous food in a gracious setting -friendly and personable owners -responsive and capable staff -quiet, pastoral setting -we liked everything about it!

Review 61:The key to our room was extremely difficult to work. This is literally the only drawback, and to tell the truth, it was more of a joke between my wife and myself whether we would be able to get into our lovely room or not.

Review 62:What did we like? Everything! The location of the hotel was idyllic, the architecture and interior decoration extraordinary, the room perfectly appointed. The owner greeted us personally, and the staff was as attentive and helpful as one could ever hope for.

Review 63:Staff was attentive and helpful.

Review 64:The town of St Andrews has very little to do

Review 65:Nice place beautiful building and gardens

Review 66:Cost

Review 67:Room was nice but not worth $400, maybe $200-250

Review 68:This was an expensive property.

Review 69:The dining experience was really excellent both dinner and breakfast.

Review 70:Location was wonderful, we were there for a wedding. Staff were very friendly and accomodating.

Review 71:We found it a bit "stuffy", although that might be inevitable.

Review 72:The service was very nice, helpful and eager to anticipate your wishes

Review 73:Possibility to eat casual diner

Review 74:Everything. Cozy last, old style.

Review 75:the food, the staff and the ambience was fabulous
