Reviews for Inn by the Rose Garden

Review 1:Beautiful home near downtown Belleville. A short drive to Prince Edward County wine region. Hostess Sandra was lovely. Comfortable beds. Healthy gourmet breakfasts.

Review 2:Sandra is a wonderful hostess & cook - the rooms were spacious, comfortable & clean. The walking distance to downtown bars & restaurants was perfect for an evening out.

Review 3:Sandra is the perfect host. We were welcomed like old friends, felt like we were visiting. Information was very helpful in finding our way around. The inn's proximity to Prince Edward County is a plus. We will definitely return.

Review 4:One of the guests was noisy/roudy.

Review 5:Beautiful home, friendly owner, excellent breakfast. The swimming pool was a nice bonus on a hot summer's day, as was the adjacent public gardens.f

Review 6:Host Sandra was extremely nice and accommodating. Lovely house in a pretty area of town next to a park (rose garden). Easy to get to ferry for Prince Edward County. Great breakfast. Clean as a whistle. Also, great value.

Review 7:Parking space was restricted for a day or two because of ongoing renovations.

Review 8:The Inn is very well maintained. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the bathroom had all the desirable amenities.

Review 9:Wonderful genuine mansion in a nice neighbourhood. The owner is very friendly and present, great welcome late at night and early delicious breakfast. Gigantic, well decorated and comfortable room with fireplace and two orientations, nice views and king bed. There is a pool for guests which is a nice touch, we unfortunately did not have the time to enjoy it, maybe next time! Sincerely recommended to our friends and all travellers to Belleville. Many thanks for the warm stay!

Review 10:The room was bigger than expected. The owner is very attentive & accommodating. We were able to check in one hour early without hesitation, and the breakfast was very good in the morning.

Review 11:The room (#3, the smallest) was just lovely and the breakfast was beautiful: a different egg dish every day, fresh-baked croissants, fresh fruit and yogourt. The owner has thought of everything in this lovinly restored mansion.

Review 12:On our next visit, we will plan a little extra time to enjoy the company of our gracious host, possibly when the snow has gone and we can see the gardens - although the grey squirrel was cute.

Review 13:Belleville has a number of grand 19th century homes. Inn by the Rose Garden is one of them. While modernizing essentials such as electricity and plumbing (very nice spa tub in our room), the exquisite detailed banding on the floors has been preserved, as well as intricate plaster work on the ceilings, patina on the stair railings, and so on. Furniture and other decorative elements look perfectly in place with the period atmosphere of the home. Breakfast was excellent - Sandra, you are such a good cook!

Review 14:From the ease of booking through the warm welcome, a large stately yet comfortable room with very comfortable beds and a very delicious crust-less quiche breakfast, the Inn-by the Rose Garden was the perfect introduction to how great B&B's can be for my son.

Review 15:We lost our key to the bedroom, so rather than wake up the owner,we stayed in the DR.She graciously came out and got us to our room! Lovely room, lovely place!,.....lovely lady!!

Review 16:Wish we'd stayed two nights instead of just the one.

Review 17:Sandra, the Inn Keeper was very personable and pleasant. She helped us find a good restaurant and was very accommodating. We will stay there on our next visit. The home and the property are both amazing, like taking a step back in history.

Review 18:The food was suboptimal. For a b&b I would expect something homemade like muffins, granola, jam etc. The eggs were plain and there was nothing from the region, very disappointing.

Review 19:The rooms were clean and location was great

Review 20:Nothing

Review 21:The personal and homelike nature of the house. Breakfast was great and being able to chat to the owner was informative and pleasurable. A home from home!

Review 22:The Inn By the Rose Garden was a lovely Victorian home who's proprietor was friendly and helpful while not being over bearing. The home had a relaxed atmosphere and the breakfast was excellent.

Review 23:No reading light by the two easy chairs in our bedroom made it impossible to read the newspaper.

Review 24:Heritage home which has been well-updated. Easy off street parking. Welcoming owner.

Review 25:Room style/decor a bit too "poofy"or ornate for our tastes.

Review 26:Location was convenient to both restaurants and the bay. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

Review 27:Poor choice of TV channels, outdated TV set. One night we experienced quite stuffy air in our room. We tried to open windows, we found that only one window could have been opened to let in some fresh air.

Review 28:Very large room with huge closet, well equipped bathroom with Jacuzzi. Beautifully decorated hotel built in 1855. Very clean nicely kept in the style from the XIX century. The host that was taking really good care of her guests. Hotel located in the garden like settings. Parking available on site. Good breakfast was served in a beautiful dining room

Review 29:Beautiful house in a very quiet neighborhood. Rooms were clean and tidy. We had breakfast included and the hostess cooked it and served, it was delicious and a good variety too! Everything about the place tells that Sandra (the owner) loves it and cares to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. We just loved it! We will definitely be back here!

Review 33:Sandra is extremely accommodating, flexible, very very nice and a fantastic cook!! She took the time to chat with me over breakfast and asked me each morning if I had slept well. Now that's personal service!! Wonderful stay, thank you Sandra!!

Review 34:Shower weak. Insufficient shelf for soap and hair products in shower stall and no place to hang wet facecloth in stall. Soap dish provided was on suction cups and unstable. Air conditioning not effective so stuffy for sleeping.

Review 35:Large comfortable room. Ample sitting and storage area. Delightful, tasty breakfast. Host very friendly and informative. Great spot for a get away!

Review 36:Loved this place. Victorian charm throughout, comfortable big room and bed, wonderful breakfast, and welcoming owner. A lot of attention to details and guest comfort. We'd go back in a minute.

Review 37:The exterior and grounds need attention. Parking is challenging, especially if the resident tenant has parked there too and the Inn is fully booked.

Review 38:The owner is a wonderful person, and very atuned to the needs of her guests. She's very knowledgeable about the area, a great help to visitors. The rooms are beautiful, and provide for a guest's general needs. Location is great, for walking or driving, to restaurants or local sites and attractions.

Review 66:Nothing!

Review 67:The landlord, her kindness, the beautiful and well kept house, the garden, the excellent breakfast!

Review 68:What a B&B ought to be. Intimate yet private, historic yet clean and modern.

Review 69:Hard mattress and pillows.

Review 74:great rooms, nice decor, friendly

Review 75:Very nicely decorated Victorian B&B. High ceiling, large room, nice dining area, welcoming owner. What's not to like?

Review 76:- could update bed linens

Review 77:People with mobility issues would have to consider that there is a flight of stairs that one has to navigate to reach the bedrooms.

Review 78:It was a quiet, tranquil location with a beautiful Victorian decor. Sandra, our hostess could have not been more gracious and accommodating. I'm sure the Rose Garden adjacent to the property (although not in bloom while we were there) would be a spectacular meander right at our doorstep.

Review 79:A quiet, peaceful place where Sandra O'Brian (proprietor) was most accommodating. I had to arrive late at night and she made it easyfor me to do so. I would go back should I need accommodation in that area again. The breakfast was perfect for me and true to what was advertized: cold cereal, fresh fruit, cheese, warm croissant, choice of yoghurts, boiled eggs, as much goof coffee as I wNted.

Review 80:This was the first time we have stayed at a B&B and it was an excellent experience. Property was easy to find and was in a lovely mature neighbourhood. It was very quiet and would be a great place to stay in the summer with the two patios off the main floor and the outdoor pool. Interior is victorian decorated with antiques, high ceilings, antique light fixtures etc. It does have adequate bathrooms but nothing that would wow you. The rooms, bathrooms and the entire property is very clean. Breakfast was great and the owner of the property is very pleasant and accommodating. Will definitely return if we need accommodations in Belleville again. Great value for the money.

Review 81:Was super cold inside but it is to be expected since it was during low-peak time. It did warm up later in the evening and I had a comfortable sleep.

Review 82:LOVED the house!I Old Edwardian house which drips history! Breakfast was huge an healthy. Straightforwarded walk to downtown. Loved having a jacuzzi in my bathroom - a real nice treat after all those baths in shallow tubs in the hotels I stayed at. The manager of the bed and breakfast is very sweet and very much wants her guests to be comfortable. I hope to see her again!

Review 83:I felt breakfast was skimpy, compared to the other bed and breakfasts we have enjoyed

Review 84:A great location, and beautiful facilities close to everything
