Reviews for Tara Manor Inn
Review 1:Very outdated decor and furniture, facilities and rooms need renovation. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. However, there was a musty smell in the room, the kind which comes from old carpet and wallpaper.
Review 2:Friendly staff, nice views, and spacious rooms.
Review 3:The only thing we didn't like was that the room had a musty smell to it. It made it somewhat unpleasant, but the window opened and that helped.
Review 4:Great breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. The decks and furniture in front of the unit were very pleasant to sit out on and the grounds and facilities were beautiful.
Review 5:What a wonderful surprise. The inn was close to St. Andrews. The grounds were spectacular with heated pool and a tennis court. The room was like a mini suite with microwave and fridge. We also had an outdoor seating area. The WiFi was excellent. I wish we could have stayed longer. I've stayed at the famous "Algonquin" before but I much prefer Tara Manor Inn!
Review 6:The coffee served with the included continental breakfast was not very hot and was not very good. Tasted quite bland. A more modern coffee making system in the breakfast room would make the experience more enjoyable. The breakfast, on the whole, was quite good.
Review 7:We were moved to an inferior room for the next two nights. Door had glass and no blind despite outdoor lights on till 2 am.,staff couldn't see that that was a problem! Windows in bathroom and bedroom also inadequate blinds.
Review 8:First room we were in was very large and lovely. Setting was very nice but exaggerated in publicity.
Review 9:The innkeeper was welcoming and most gracious; the grounds were lovely and well-maintained. Shelley's recommendations for restaurants, as well as directions to various sites, were all right on target. We have already recommended Tara Manor Inn to family and friends and are looking forward to returning again next year! (Loved the hot tub!) Updates to the facility are underway with this new owner and it will be nice to see the continued improvements next season. It was a comfortable stay at a good price. Well worth the trip!
Review 10:The room was very outdated and musty smelling. There really wasn't a water view, even though it was advertised. We checked in and were given the key without asking if we needed help with our bags. The price was much higher then other nicer accommodations that we had on our 10 day trip.
Review 11:The grounds were nice,
Review 12:Convenience to St. Andrews; tact and helpfulness of the front desk staff; accomodated by desire to be on the first floor; rapid checkin and helpful response to inquiry about dining in St. Andrews; cleanliness of the room and grounds; value proposition exceptional
Review 13:The view, the amenities and the location were spectacular. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel at home. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet vacation that offers all that an oceanfront natural location has to offer.
Review 14:The people were very friendy and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable although the furniture seemed a little worn. The location was lovely!
Review 15:I wouldn't say we had a bad experience, but after we checked in, we found our heat was not working (owner checked and it was a breaker that needed to be switched). We were supposed to have a fridge, but didn't, and none was offered to us. For the price of a suite, we b'fast would be included but there was an extra charge. All in all, the owner was very personable, and I realize we are probably among the first customers of the season, so I'm sure things will be up and running smoothly in no time at all.
Review 16:The grounds were very nice, and the office was quaint and it had a nice lounge area with a cozy fire going.
Review 17:Room decor needs update
Review 18:Large room with a very comfortable bed. The new owners made us feel very welcomed. The country setting was very relaxing. Sounds corny, but for dinner we had pizza and wine on the patio and read a great book! We were so comfortable that we missed out on the invitation to the campfire.
Review 19:Had to use hair clips to keep curtains closed. Weather stripping missing under door, many mosquitoes got in overnight.
Review 20:Great scenic location, cute room, lots to do on site and close to the town. Room was very clean.
Review 21:peaceful, great location, staff very accommodating, gave us an upgrade to the room, even though we made a last minute reservation due to change in our plans, worked out great. Also gave us wonderful recommendation for local dinner spot. Perfect all around!
Review 22:There was nothing not to like here.
Review 23:We stayed only one night and wished we'd had more time. Our reception was friendly, the room was sumptuous and the recommendation of restaurant for supper was spot on. So was the breakfast in the morning. Our only regret was that we could not stay longer.
Review 24:There was not one thing that disappointed me.
Review 25:This was my second stay at Tara Manor Inn. The grounds are impeccably kept and the pool and hot tub were glorious. I had an ocean view room this time with a comfy king-sized bed and beautiful living-room window where the sunshine and ocean breezes streamed in. My continental breakfast was bountiful and lovely! The lengthy treed driveway provided a natural barrier to any street noise and gave me a plantation feel. I absolutely live it there and will highly recommend it to my friends and family!
Review 26:The new owners are very accommodating and making a lot of improvements as time goes on. I think in time it will become a top notch place to stay. Their hard work will continue to improve their ratings as well.
Review 27:the front landing area and bath room had a slant to the floor
Review 28:Lovely garden setting, close to coastline, large heated pool with deep end and floaty noodles to relax with, large hot tub, nice reasonably priced breakfast buffet. Although we did not have pets, it is also pet friendly.
Review 29:I didn't like that I didn't know that there was a heated pool and tennis courts available before I arrived. I also wish that there had been internet available in the room not just in common areas.
Review 30:The room was spacious, nice big comfy bed and a bathroom with a tub and shower. The grounds were beautiful and well kept and there was a nice deck to sit on in the nice weather. Our own little deck also had chairs and a table in case we wanted to sit alone by our room. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had a good variety of healthy options.
Review 31:For senior citizens, the two-story walk up was a bit tiring, but the view was worth it.
Review 32:The atmosphere and the view from our high porch. We talked with the new owners and were openly informed of their plans to make this facility even better.
Review 33:The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They were able to give us information about the Manor and surrounding area. Lovely grounds, well kept lawns and inviting recreation area. Quiet areas for rest and relaxation, and the breakfast provided in the dining room was superb. Will definitely be returning!
Review 34:It was the only one on our three week road trip, staying at 8 motels/inns/hotels that did NOT have in the room: 1. ironing board, 2. luggage support, 3.in room coffee maker, 4. fridge 5. microwave. Only two very thin bath towels--over all room price was in the middle of what we paid elsewhere, with amenities.
Review 35:St. Andrews was interesting.
Review 36:Shelley and Darren are the new owners and they couldn't be friendlier or harder working. I get the sense that the Inn will continue to improve under their ownership. We loved the location, new hot tub, the grounds, and the view. We will definitely return.
Review 37:1. Owners & staff go to almost any lengths to ensure their guests have a pleasant stay. 2. Grounds are beautiful. 3. Rooms are beautiful. 4. Lots of activities available.
Review 38:I thought our room had a musty/moldy odor. The bathroom door did not close all the way. The fan in the bathroom was very loud and didn't need to come on every time you turned the light on. Children were running around and screaming all evening up until 10:00. I think the pool should close at 9:00 not 10:00. We had to leave early in the morning. Bed was very uncomfortable.
Review 39:The staff was very friendly. They helped with directions and one staff member even made reservations for us on a whale watching trip.
Review 40:Room was a bit musty smelling.
Review 41:Large-sized double room, lovely country inn decor. Beautiful expansive grounds. Outdoor pool and tennis court although we didn't use them as we stayed there the weekend of Hurricane Arthur.
Review 42:The staff and owners were very sensitive and accommodating to our needs. My Mom is 86, handicapt, and my sister, age 50, is visually impaired. The owners installed a disabled-accessible bathroom and ramp prior to our arrival. It was the perfect place for us. Breakfast was delicious and nutritious. Service was excellent. Location was quiet and peaceful, and close to town. We will be staying with Tara Manor again!
