Reviews for Hotel Murtenhof & Krone

Review 1:No restaurant or bar open in winter. Bedroom is of a type you expect in a 2 star hotel. It has the 1980 comfort instead of 2016.

Review 2:Located in a nice old town

Review 3:The hotel was old with little charm, the room would benefit from new furnishings and paint.

Review 4:Friendly and helpful reception. Room on second floor had wonderful lake view, was clean and comfortable enough with an updated bathroom. The included breakfast was fine.

Review 5:Pictures of the room let believe of a boutique hotel but it is really standard design Restaurants around are really pricey

Review 6:Great place for tourism wineyard, cycling and running around the lake Room with a stunning view on the lake

Review 7:The look of the stairway is very poor, should look much more exciting to fit the gorgeous external look of the building.

Review 8:Very nice staff, amazingly huge room, very nice bathroom, stunning view at the lake.

Review 9:My bed was too soft / had a hole. Probably would'nt have been a problem had I not already had a sore neck.

Review 10:Loved the view and the location. It's literally right next door to the castle, overlooking the lake.

Review 11:One small comment: My mattress had a definite depression which made it hard to be comfortable on my side. This was in 357 and the mattress was nearest to the bathroom. I think it's time to replace the mattress.

Review 12:We liked everything!!

Review 13:Shame bar and restaurant in hotel closed in winter. Even though bars and restaurants nearby many are also closed mid week.

Review 14:Fantastic location in historic town centre. Good restaurants nearby. Hotel well equipped. Room was great. Staff very friendly

Review 15:The bathroom lacked a door and there was no tea/coffee making facility in the room.

Review 16:The location is absolutely amazing with a few of the lake. The size of suites was huge and felt even larger with the large glass wall facing the lake. Staff were excellent and breakfast was quiet good. Lovely hotel.

Review 17:Some of the rooms only had a single bed but otherwise very clean and comfortable.

Review 18:The location was great but a bit of a trek from the train station especially if you have luggage. The view from the restaurant was fantastic.

Review 19:not very important: no safe in the room, small bathroom, no salmon or fried eggs for breakfast

Review 20:Friendly staff, nice location in the historic centre with panoramic view, nice restaurant with good cooking, free coffee/tea in the lobby, and: free room upgrade - thanks!

Review 21:Can't think of anything.

Review 22:Good location for staying at after the opera in Avenches (less than 15mins by car). Good breakfast with a fantastic view! Friendly and helpful staff. They let us have the room before the official check in time, because we arrived earlier than expected.

Review 23:Nothing.

Review 24:Hotel staff were excellent! Restaurant was wonderful-our waitress was amazing.

Review 25:Hotel outdated, room stark

Review 26:Excellent buffet breakfast, beautiful lake view

Review 27:Great location, lovely view, friendly staff, good food

Review 28:Wonderful roo, fantastic dining, and helpful staff with great personalities!

Review 29:Dinner menu was pricey.

Review 30:Excellent staff and service. Great room with view of lake. Great location in center of village.

Review 31:Excellent location. Very friendly staff.

Review 32:Fabulous view overlooking the lake

Review 33:everything

Review 34:Bed has some years.. Public areas a but out of time

Review 35:Location perfect, right in downtown, breakfast buffet inviting, products fresh

Review 36:No air conditioning

Review 37:Breakfast

Review 38:old-ish impressions

Review 39:When I went into the room I thought "oh, no, it's one of those old hotels that's living off if its long heritage (yikes)." The decor not tasteful (sorry but true), bed mattress not those nice firm ones we see these days in chain hotels, the chests seem old, etc. However, the staff are super friendly, the view of the lake is magnificent(!!!), the bathroom and the toilets were completely renovated and shiny, they give you wifi access for as many devices as you want, the breakfast overlooking the lake is gorgeous... And at the end of the day I said to myself I'd be more than happy to come here again. The warm welcome is everywhere and that transcends. As I checked out the lady asked how my stay was and I told her that the shower floor was a bit slippery and she told me that we could ask for those rubber mattress, for the next visit.

Review 40:Rooms were small but adequate. Views made up for it !!

Review 41:Wonderful hotel with beautiful view overlooking lake murten. Great little walled city. Wonderful staff and restaurant was great. Had table outside with lake view at sunset. Lovely !! Wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 42:I agree with the other reviewer that it would be nice to have a light sheet on the bed as the duvets are a bit too warm.

Review 43:Everything was very clean, the staff was very helpful, and the location was great. We loved visiting the town of Murten.

Review 44:A minor gripe was the bathroom was small, other rooms around us had bigger ones though. A second minor gripe was the breakfast staff did not have enough time to keep up with cleaning tables and restocking the breakfast bar.

Review 45:The staff were all very friendly. The room (#61) had a fantastic view and the room while small were comfy and decently equiped.

Review 46:Your reception desk staff was excellent in suggesting things to do and see in Murten. I did them all in the short time I was there and would not have had as great an experience without his help. Kudos. Breakfast buffet was excellent with the views of the lake exquisite. I would highly recommend your establishment to others as it was recommended to me.

Review 47:Daily Internet charge. This was a nice place, but a bit more expensivewithout increased benefits compared to our other accommodations.

Review 48:Great location and building. Good breakfast.

Review 49:This was a lovely hotel right inside Murten and next to the lake. We stayed here for a special family occasion and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed the rooms (we had a double and triple). We ate at the restaurant which was quite pricey but had a lovely view.

Review 50:Rooms rather dated, but comfortable, affording decent sleep. It was hot when we were there in early August, but selective opeinimg and shutting of windows, plus a fan, made it comfortable enough, and we slept well the two nights we were there.

Review 51:Historic atmospheric building located next to the city gate, walls and towers. Convenient location a block or so from the lake, but on the slope with unobstructed views. Low hills on the other side, with Jura Mountains in the distance. Within walking distance of station, lake, boat landing, shops, restaurants and sidewalk cafes, and park overlooking the lake. Staff spoke good English, were helpful and knowledgeable about town and its history. Elevators. Good and ample breakfast buffet, window seating available overlooking the lake, also for dinner. Situated in lowlands between Alps and Jura Mountains, off beaten tourist path, all other guests appeared to be German speakers. After 12 straight days of spectacular Alpine viewing and hiking, we needed a break, and this was just the right spot for us. Good opportunity to slow down and absorb local culture and history, of which there is plenty. We like level bicycling, not mountain, and enjoyed a half-day rental, through forests and alongside cultivated fields. Also, I strongly recommend the lake cruise between Murten and Neuchatel, going across both lakes and a canal in between- free with a Swiss Pass. Convenient train connections to Bern and Neuchatel.

Review 52:Located in the old town of Murten. Lovely view of Lake of Murten from our room. Free self-service coffee in a charming room by the lobby. Good breakfast buffet.

Review 53:The hotel is located in the wonderful medieval city of Murten and overlooks a beautiful lake (Murten). The upgraded room we had had a small balcony with a wonderful lakeview, and was modern, well appointed and comfortable. While the room had no air conditioning, it cooled down nicely in the early evening. The location of the hotel was very central to Murten's downtown, but just enough off the main street to be quiet. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a very nice restaurant also overlooking the lake. While a little "pricey", our one-night stay there was a treat.

Review 54:The room 238 facing the street, we unfortunately heard the tavern folkscelebrating until 3 in the morning!

Review 55:It was a very quaint hotel in a wonderful little town, which we loved.Being there for the parade and festival was an added bonus!

Review 56:On the weekend in summer there are some bars around so a bitnoisy at night.

Review 57:Friendly staff, perfect location, nice room, delicious breakfast...justgood hotel.

Review 58:Excellent views of lake both from my suite and at breakfast. Excellent staff spoke fluent English. Very helpful and informative about things to do in the town and the area for sightseeing. Free internet was fast so I was able to get a lot of work done. Suite was huge and nicely decorated to a classical theme.

Review 59:I would have liked to have scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast ... but ok, the muesli was very good :-)

Review 60:The room with view on the lake was very nice. Just a shame there is carpet in the rooms, but otherwise, very nice and cosy.

Review 61:Nothing, everything was fantastic!

Review 62:Staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly! They did everything to make us happy!

Review 63:WiFi signal was not good.

Review 64:Quality of room. Free upgrade. Nice small Town overlooking the Lake.

Review 65:In old town, close to everything. Has a great restaurant with a terrasse with a wonderful view.

Review 69:Duvet was too hot, need to offer a sheet or lighter cover, was like sleeping in a sauna.
