Reviews for Hotel Victoria Meiringen
Review 1:A little overpriced for what you got in the room...and we were in a uograded room. The wifi was not reliable.
Review 2:Location, friendly staff, decor of lobby
Review 3:No bad experiences at all. Only positiive.
Review 4:The staff was super friendly and helped with questions about the area. They made sure I was comfortable and checked even at breakfast to make sure everything was okay. The facility was clean, comfortable and was most positively in a lovely location with the mountains all around
Review 5:All staff were welcoming and helpful. Proprietor speaks to all guests. Clean, modern and stylish interior. Excellent food. Nice touches such as complimentary coffee, cakes and fruit.
Review 6:The room was small but adequate and very tastefully furnished. The restaurant is world class. The lunch and dinner we ate here were the best on our whole trip. Simon is a uniquely talented chef and we were lucky to dine here. Very friendly staff and a wonderful experience overall.
Review 7:The owner went out of his way to help us with luggage transfer problems. He also gave us advice for hiking in the area. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing with a great variety of food. A flat quick walk from the train station makes for easy access.
Review 8:The area around the hotel is small so there isn't that much you can do with in a walking distance.
Review 9:I was there with my wife and 3 daughters during Aug. We spent 4 nights. This is the best hotel I have ever been to in its category. It is rated superior 3 star hotel but I would give it 4 start. It is small, clean, well decorated and the owner Simon was very helpful and him and his wife were very supporive.
Review 10:no fridge inside rooms. double bedroom is small. a lot of flies disturbing the breakfast.
Review 11:location is great. hotel is modern & rooms are well decorated. triple room is large enough. Karin was very nice & helpful.
Review 12:Upgraded to super room with views in two directions. Bathroom large and spotless. Ate outside under Chestnut tree with an excellent varied menu. Staff were very helpful even sending on something left behind in room with no charge.
Review 13:- very small tight rooms- standard room cannot accommodate the cod for 3 y. o child. You will need to pay extra for an upgrade to bigger room, which by the size corresponds to the regular economy room in other hotels. - I was disappointed with the attitude demonstrated by the receptionist/ chef at the hotel. Having arrived to the hotel late, we wanted to get something to eat in the room as our 1.5 y.o son was exhausted after long trip and wanted to sleep. The immediate response we got a room service is not possible, you have to go down to eat. Having checked the in-room instruction offering the room-service I had to call and educate the reception the room service is offered, so at the end they brought the food into the room for an extra fee. - the next day we wanted to have lunch, but the same gentlemen told we will have to wait for 1.5 hours because they are busy serving a group of tourists, who rush for the music festival. This talks about clear priority choices the hotel makes when doing business. Instead of trying to find the win-win offering some easy-quick food options as salads or sandwiches, the message we got - you are not welcome. Families with small kids are not appreciated in this hotel. Good hotel for solo-couple travelers, but do not recommend for families with young children.
Review 14:- recently renovated and nicely designed hotel - good restaurant and rich breakfast.
Review 15:The hotel is tastefully decorated and immaculate. The staff was very friendly and could not do enough for you. The hotel also had an excellent gourmet restaurant which we would highly recommend. Breakfast was superb. We cannot recommend this hotel enough
Review 16:Flies, flies, flies....we ate dinner on the terrace and 5-10 would land on your meal if not constantly shooed away. We had breakfast inside the next morning, there were flies on the buffet, and at our table. I travel frequently, and spend on average, between 1 to 2 months a year in hotels...I can't remember a stay where I was made to feel less welcome, not out and out rudeness, mostly the attitude that the guests were an imposition....there were nice gestures ....a welcome note and fruit in the room, but they seemed to be a marketing plan rather than sincere good will...not one smile or pleasant interaction with the staff in the hotel or restaurant...
Review 17:WiFi, Shower pressure
Review 18:Everything had a sense of great care and taste. The hospitality felt personal (warm & friendly), the food was from a Master Chef, the location - like a fairytale.
Review 19:If you want a quiet, tranquil atmosphere maybe there would be another good hotel, though it's not much noisy despite its location (very near to the train station) for Meiringen is a small town.
Review 20:The location is great, just next to the train station and bus stop.Room not only looks very smart but is very conveniently designed, and staffs are all friendly and helpful. Also their food was great, we had the supper in their bistro, tastes great and the price reasonable. If they had tea-making facilities in the room it would be perfect for us.
Review 21:Rooms are smallish for a family (with kids). Room rates high, but that's common across Switzerland.
Review 22:Very friendly owners who help every guest with sightseeing itineraries. They sit down with every guest and take and interest in them and their plans in Switzerland. Breakfast is good. Location is next to the Meiringen train station and across the road from Sherlock Holmes Museum. Quiet place, ideal for rest.
Review 23:Only minor issues, but I would have preferred to have one single blanket for our queen size bed and one single mattress instead of two.
Review 24:Both the rooms and the facilities are like new with attention to detail.
Review 25:The rooms are a little bit too small
Review 26:- everything is done with love and an eye for the details - the hotel owner and chef Simon Anderegg has an excellent concept - the restaurant is awarded with 14 Points GaultMillau for 2015!
Review 27:Perfect crew, friendly owner, top service (also GLUTEN-Free). Dinner was marvellous, even better than the mentioned 'Bib Gourmand'. Next time we go back, also with lack of snow !
Review 28:There could not be a better place to stay in Meiringen, great staff Simon the owner very helpful in making recomendatios for our visit.Resturant was excellant, room included breakfast was over the top. Beds very comfortable and whole hotel clean and spotless. A++.From California whole staff spoke english and all there to accomadate.
Review 29:Nice and helpful staff. Good size, and clean room. Location is good and breakfast is very good! Value added services are : Welcoming fruits and free sending off bottle of water!
Review 30:After a pleasant stay, during a cycling tour, I was most insulted to receive a call from the hotel manager informing me that I hadn't spent the night alone in my room (I had paid for one guest in a double room as I usually do when staying alone). Astonished at the accusation I asked what he was talking about to be told that the housekeepers had said that two people had been in my room. I told him that I hadn't entertained anybody in my room and that, having cycled 130km that day over the Alps on a bike with only one saddle and nobody to help me turn the pedals, I wouldn't have had the energy! I also mentioned that none of the housekeepers, whilst most attractive, had spent the night in my room either, in order to make this judgement. I had to assert and remind my accuser that I had paid for the room and if I wanted to use both duvets then I was surely entitled before he backed down. A disappointing epilogue to an otherwise nice visit.
Review 31:A smart hotel with modern furnishing, comfortable decor. Centrally positioned and with good facilities.
Review 32:Small point - in the room you recommend the excellent spring water from the tap to drink but in the restaurant you try to sell me bottled water and don't promote the excellent tap water.
Review 33:Room modern, clean and comfortable Option to have Bistro meal as an alternative to the al a carte
Review 34:The hotel has been recently renovated and the result is excellent. We had a lovely corner room which looked over the train station and down the valley, and also had views to Reichenbach Falls. There was no noise at all. Breakfast was fabulous. We were able to leave our luggage at the hotel while we visited the Aare Gorge and Reichenbach Falls.
Review 35:My brother and me stayed a few days in Meiringen at the Victoria Hotel. We went cicling and hiking around this beautiful area. The person in charge of the hotel was very kind and gave us very good advise about routes and places to go. I wish to come back with my wife and children. Meirigen is a quite place with no doubt I'd prefer staying in this hotel than anyother in Interlaken.
Review 36:I went to Meiringen specifically to do some road cycling. The area is great as there are a full range of options from flat to very steep. Simon, the Hotel owner (and a cyclist), was extremely helpful in suggesting routes and even accompanied me once. The Hotel provided exactly what I needed in all respects. Highly recommended.

Review 75:The Victoria is ultra-modern and totally spotless. Staff are very welcoming and helpful, all areas of the hotel well kept and very smart to look at. My room (36) was good size and very comfortable. Double glazing excellent so no noise from outside. Location is perfect, right outside the station and at the beginning of town. Perfect base for the many attractions in this area.
Review 76:Prehistory TV in rooms. No air-condition, so 2 ways at list: hot or noisy in room :) Nespresso machine in rooms would be great!!!
