Reviews for Walnut Beach Resort

Review 1:Cleaning staff use some kind of air freshner/cleaner that is very strong smelling. Not good for people with allergies.

Review 2:The restaurant was very good as well as location

Review 3:The outside looked a little run down with faded paint on trims, dirty stucco and bird droppings on ledges and balconies.

Review 4:The staff were very courteous, friendly and very helpful. The resort had great pool, hot tubs and beach. The room was very clean and had everything that we needed.

Review 5:The fact I stood and waited for the front desk to finish up a phone call without looking up and acknowledging my presences. Fairly rude.

Review 6:The location and pool as well as the hot tub.

Review 7:The only unfortunate thing about our stay was that the smoke from the forest fires was terrible. This was not the fault of the resort and they did their best to advise guests accordingly.

Review 8:This property is unique as it has a private beach for the guests. It is in an excellent location.

Review 9:All costs to stay should be disclosed at time of booking. $50 per day incidentals charged...whether or not you intend to charge anything to your room.

Review 10:Location and resort are beautiful! Staff are all very accommodating, and there for whatever you need. Ultimate relaxing Vaca!!

Review 11:Although there is no smoking allowed on the beach, the sand is littered with cigarette butts.

Review 12:The one bedroom suite was modern and very clean. The hotel had plenty of underground parking.

Review 13:For the price we paid, we were a little disappointed by some of the areas where the hotel obviously cheaped out - cheap fixtures, mirrors, lamps, bad tiling, and so on. It almost seemed like the original rooms were done really well, but as they have had to repair and replace items they went as cheap as possible, which makes it look shabby and poorly designed. Additionally, the pool - while in a stunning location - is poorly maintained. Definitely on the scuzzy side and we felt like we needed an immediate shower after spending any time in the pool. And as is typical of Canadian hotels, drinks were way overpriced, which kept us away from the restaurant and bar - instead we bought our own mix and booze and judging from the # of people walking around with "to-go mugs", so did everyone else. Make the beverages affordable and you'll triple your food/bev revenue! Finally, our room didn't get cleaned the first day. At 6pm someone knocked on our door asking if we wanted maid service. We were just having dinner so we said no. They told us they were short staffed and overworked and that was why they were just getting to us. They offered us clean towels and shampoo and said "hopefully we'll get to your room earlier tomorrow". Pretty disappointing for an "upscale, 4-star resort". For what 4 days cost us, we could have done a 7 day all inclusive in Cuba.

Review 14:The location is hard to beat. Rooms were pleasant enough...

Review 15:Room service We were out of our room from 9am until 4pm and our room was not cleaned. At about 4:30 we had nock at the door and it was the cleaning lady aking us if we wanted her to clean the room, at that point we were so exhausted and wanted to take a nap so we said no but thank you. We were hoping, because we were gone for most of the morning and afternoon, that the room would have already been cleaned. Other than that we were satisfied

Review 16:Resort and location

Review 17:If one compares this resort to the Fairmont at Whistler at the same price, the Walnut Beach resort falls short. And there was no breakfast available.

Review 18:It was clean and the the staff were friendly

Review 19:No pets allowed... screaming kids but no trained pets ?? Understand as like some parents their are dog owners who don't respect others properties or environment.

Review 20:Lake view room, right on water, nice berth for our boat.

Review 21:The Bathtub!!! For me (. A senior) it's just an accident waiting to happen !!! It 's slippery so a shower is a no no,plus, the design is such that there's no way to push yourself up if u take a bath ! A wall grip and mat would help!

Review 22:The area is very quiet and the facilities are great with the exception of the tub! The bed was 0k but kind of firm for me! Not really a problem though !

Review 23:Was a microwave but no oven -- also there was no restaurants close for meals -- not walking distance --

Review 24:The size of the suite plus the excellent bed were the two pluses -- the parking was also a plus --

Review 25:Sorry the continental breakfast was unavailable. We were originally told we would be able to buy one.

Review 26:A lovely setting with excellent catering for the Tapas style meal.

Review 27:From the moment we arrived, we did not meet one staff member that had the ability to serve. At the front desk, we were told that 79 guests had left that day but the cleaning crew had gone home, so we could not have a lake view room because they were dirty...it was late afternoon when we arrived. Our experience at the restaurant was mediocre and our server could not care less. The dish I ordered was awful and I was told that it tasted fine and that is how it is supposed to be. I was not offered anything else and didn't eat.

Review 28:I loved the hotel, the layout, the view, the design. This hotel has an amazing amount of potential. First time in Osoyoos and loved the town.

Review 29:The hotel needs to bring it's level of service up to the standard of the resort. At times you couldn't even find anyone to help you.

Review 30:Location and hotel was excellent

Review 31:Staff need Super Host training. Hotel needs more staff. Restaurant closed the 2 days we were there which was very annoying as not close to others.

Review 32:Pool and hot tubs, nice view and beach.

Review 33:Nothing specifies that there is no breakfast facility on site. Nothing even within walking distance. Huge disappointment with 2 young boys in tow. Had to check out early to hunt down a restaurant.

Review 34:We arrived early expecting to be turned away, it was terrific to be accommodated in such a positive manner.

Review 35:- when facing the pool/ lake was noisy at night with the wedding party and people by the pool

Review 36:- quieter with less people and kids - like the distance from town for walks - like the facilities like pool and private beach

Review 37:Our room was dirty. The duvet cover had stains. Under the bed looked like it hadn't been vacuumed all summer. There were cobwebs all over the exterior of the building. The cleaning facilities doors are kept open all day so any time you go to your car you see the staff doing laundry. The fact that this hotel is rated as 4 star + is shocking. The manager should go stay at a true 5 star hotel to see what proper customer service is. All in all it was not worth the 5 hour drive from Vancouver. We will most definitely not be returning. The holiday inn would have been comparable.

Review 38:The resort had beach access which was the only plus

Review 39:beach bar wasn't open once while we were there and that was a selling feature for us on the resort which was a shame. and there was no where to get breakfast on site or with in walking distance so we had to go for a drive every morning. (we aren't ones to cook on vacation). but overall great stay

Review 40:the restaurant was really amazing! great prices for water sport rentals, super friendly staff and good drinks:)

Review 41:Overpriced. Drinks were really expensive as well. Could have included a couple extra things in the kitchen such as salt and pepper.

Review 42:Nice beach. Room was new and clean. Really comfy bed!

Review 43:Walls are thin. We heard the neighbors kids screaming at 2:00 AM. I had to bang on the door to let them know they were annoying me. The restaraunt had great food but the atmosphere was that of a pub. If you want to go with the pub vibe then serve pub food. If you want to serve fine dining then build the proper atmosphere.

Review 44:Good location on the beach. Rooms were large and clean with a King sized bed.

Review 45:- The underside of the stationary umbrellas were dirty and had birds and insects living in the rafters. Is it possible to power-wash them from time to time? Would help limit stuff falling on you.

Review 46:- Nice all-suites resort. - Cute beach area with lounge chairs, a few stationary umbrellas and resident ducks; very relaxing. - Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 47:Way overpriced for quality on par with a standard Best Western or Holiday Inn. The housekeeping forgot to replenish our towels. If you are looking for romantic, Walnut Beach is not it. It was mostly young families--tons of children and the pool had more floaties in it than there were rooms in the resort. Also, before it was even 10PM (when their pool and hot tubs close), the maintenance person rudely kicked everyone out, which put a bad taste in both my and my fiancee's mouth.

Review 48:The location was nice.

Review 49:Wireless transmission was somewhat slow-probably not enough bandwidth as signal was strong No breakfast served in late June, had to drive to find some.

Review 50:Location right on Lake Osoyoos Under-building parking Rooms are basically condos being rented out

Review 51:The pool and hot-tub covers were on when I went to use them (within the hours of 10am-10pm) so I didn't get to use them.

Review 52:Everything was wonderful!

Review 53:Everything was fabulous on this trip

Review 54:excellent not a bad thing to say about the place except the pigeons on the roof very loud but to biggy

Review 55:Need lower off season prices..

Review 56:Everything....

Review 57:The front desk staff were not very accommodating but fine.

Review 58:Location on the lake was perfect. The beach is private. Kitchen well equipped.

Review 59:Restaurant closed early due to the wind . Had to scramble to change dinner plans .

Review 60:Front desk staff was great .

Review 61:need new pillows had zero support for my neck. the hotel is over priced for what it offers.

Review 62:had a pool. staff at restaurant was nice

Review 63:Loved the location. Beach was great!

Review 64:Friendly staff, lovely room, nice layout of the resort and its facilities.

Review 65:Location,but wrong time of year

Review 66:just a few cobwebs

Review 67:pricepoint for this time of year is great--not the same value however for hiked summer rates

Review 68:Restaurant was closed.. There were very few staff services very limited.

Review 69:Location was great

Review 70:spacious, comfortable suite with fully equipped kitchen. Very comfy bed.

Review 71:Conference group allowed to smoke outside of designated smoking area, near diners.

Review 72:Staff made an adjustment to our dinner bill, due to the smokers.

Review 73:No breakfast, dinner menu way too expensive.

Review 74:The room, the grounds, private beach and the ropes

Review 75:Nothing

Review 76:Everything

Review 77:Front desk staff indifferent verging on rude.

Review 78:Beautiful location and property. Restaurant was wonderful

Review 79:The dinners were great! Chef Justin was amazing with his dinner specials !

Review 80:No breakfast in the restaurant

Review 81:Underground parking, outdoor pool, hotel beach, restaurant in the hotel

Review 82:Lack of professional stagg

Review 83:Location on the water

Review 84:Great location on the beach. Very good restaurant.

Review 85:We were busy away from the resort, but appreciated the facilities and hope to use them on a future visit

Review 86:The location/beach is excellent - room was awesome - hot tub great - no complaints about anything - would go back again any time

Review 87:The location was perfect. The pool was good. The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. We especially liked the high quality of the suites.

Review 88:Access to reception Breakfast not included in room price. Room given , too close to laundry facilities and door giving access to pool, constant noise from door closing . Surprise since special request on booking.com for room not to be located close to amenities . Not able to change room due to fully booked as per reception staff. Resort far from town centre.

Review 89:Great location on the lake. Private beach. Easy parking. Friendly staff. Nice and comfortable room.

Review 90:They said they were 'upgrading' me but it appeared to be what I booked anyway; there was no Sunday breakfast and as we were only there one night we had to leave the property to eat.

Review 91:bbqs by pool; relaxing; people kept voices down around the pool which we overlooked

Review 92:Very poor room for the price. Worst value I have experienced with booking.com Asked for upgrade and was refused because we booked through booking.com

Review 93:Private Beach

Review 94:Nothing. Everything was perfect! It was an amazing, relaxing getaway.

Review 95:Full kitchen facilities, 5 BBQ grills for guests to cook their steaks, salmon, meats to their hearts' content, great pool, steam, sauna, fitness room. Gorgeous view of the lake. Simple but heart warming Easter egg hunt for the children on Easter Sunday. Friendly staff.

Review 96:Room was small. Kitchenette was not stocked as it should have been. Bathtub didn't hold water. Restaurant not open on Sunday, Spa services unavailable despite attempts to book in advance. Very small hot-tub (2nd was out of service). Property located at least a mile outside of village.

Review 97:Rooms and property were very clean & well-maintained.

Review 98:Felt a bit like an all inclusive. Somewhat pretentious and too expensive. There was way more marketing and packaging than value. Less image, more substance would be good.

Review 99:I did not like that there was no real option for breakfasts topurchase. Maybe a continental breakfast option would be nice for thosewho don't realize to bring food. I don't like the only accessto the pool is down the hall. It was nice to have immediate access fromthe lobby. Not your fault but the massive chem trails was a huge downerfor our vacation. One of the locals said it has been really bad for thepast 2 months. Pool bar service later in the evenings in Jul and Augwould be nice.

Review 100:The rooms are clean and I love the kitchenettes in the rooms. The poolwas warm for the first time in the past few years. Usually it is toocold. Nice touch.

Review 101:would have been nice if more boats and jet skis were available for rent

Review 102:Loved the pool area and private beach - BBQ's were a bonus - staff all very friendly, as well as housekeeping staff.

Review 103:Very tierd looking hotel. Felt it shoul have been a 3 star, the pricedid not reflect to hotel. Very over priced food and drinks. We werecharged 5 star prices for less than average hotel.

Review 104:Access to reception is not the best but is still workable.

Review 105:Room appointment and cleanliness, quick staff service, reservation was ready at reception when we arrived so registration was quick and easy. The overall setting of the resort is really excellent.

Review 106:Would be great to have an option for pets in some way. Also the restaurant could use a little more staff or at least have an ability to expand in capacity on a given night. It happened to be a busy night when we nt and we ate our $100 dinner at the bar and the waitress had to turn several others away for lack of space and staff.

Review 107:Loved being able to use outdoor grills and kitchen supplies to make ourown gourmet meal. Loved the views, the rooms, the friendly atmosphere.

Review 108:Heating system fan very noisy. The hotel was not eco-friendly, not evena blue box or the standard ability to reuse towels more than one day.

Review 109:Excellent quiet location yet close to restaurants and areas to walk

Review 110:Didn't like that the restaurant closed so early the night of our arrival which was a Friday.

Review 111:Units are great size, well laid out. It has a true resort feeling, right on the lake. Pool/bbq area is beautiful.

Review 112:Comfort of room, sleep quality, easy parking, view over lake

Review 113:City not organize

Review 114:Weather

Review 115:limited restaurant food choices

Review 116:room and location - excellent value

Review 117:Comfortable. Very attractive. Quiet! Been to two other osooyoos locations and this is by far the best!

Review 118:The bed was a bit hard, but other than that it was a nice room.

Review 119:Wi-fi not great in bedroom.

Review 120:Comfort

Review 121:Room had no view

Review 122:Dining, pool side and beach

Review 123:Bugs and spider Web in ceiling corner Night shade wasn't fully operational

Review 124:Staff, location and amenities

Review 125:Some of it looked a little shabby (hallways etc)

Review 126:Liked the pool and the location. Very nice room and comfie bed.

Review 127:Steam room was out of order for the our entire stay which is regrettable.

Review 128:Beautiful place. liked the beach, pool, hot tub and sauna.

Review 129:The service is very bad. The rooms were not cleaned for 2 days despite reminder. It is overpriced too for what it is.

Review 130:Location is good

Review 131:the beach( rocks)

Review 132:location,hotel+room design
