Reviews for Hotel Cumbres Puerto Varas

Review 1:Just being fussy, the indoor swimming pool was quite small and two much chlorine in the water for using with a small baby. We didn't care too much tho, as the lake is just around the corner from the hotel

Review 2:Great location and the view from the hotel is amazing. We had dinner in the hotel the two we stayed there and it was fantastic. Also the staff were really good with our little baby.

Review 3:None

Review 4:Everything was great and exceeded our expectation. We were able to check in fairly early and the breakfast was fantastic. Extremely friendly staff members.

Review 5:The hotel was absolutely fantastic, as was its staff, who couldn't do enough to help you. Loved spending Christmas here. Would definitely recommend.

Review 6:The service at the main restaurant was very slow and the waiters seemed generally confused.

Review 7:Lovely big rooms and stunning views. Plenty of choice for food and drink.

Review 8:Amazing views over the lake, beautiful surroundings, amazing common hall and verandah next to bar, perfect for relaxing and having a drink soaking in the views from the volcano. It's quiet and peaceful since it's a little away and above the hubbub of the city center, which is an easy 5 min stroll downhill via the pedestrian causeway passing through in front of the hotel grounds. The staff were very helpful, giving us good advice on restaurants. Great (though small) swimming pool and sauna facilities as well. The bed was simply divine, we couldn't stop sleeping and having siestas all day, that's how inviting it was! By far the best bedding we had in Chile. I'm also a fan of Cumbres Lastarria in Santiago, but this one in Puerto Varas is even better!

Review 9:Difficult to fault this hotel, other than Oysters not always being on the menu as defined.

Review 10:We had a great corner room with fanastic views of Volcano Osorno and the lake. Great service, location and staff. Highly recommend this hotel in what is a friendly and lovely little town of Puerto Varas. Views from the Lounge, Dining room and external areas are amazing and constantly changing with the weather. Puerto Varas has lots of restaurants and cafes. It feels really safe and friendly and is ideally located to explore the Lake District.

Review 11:No bad experience

Review 12:The comfort of room and service staff including English Language assist from multi persons at the Front Desk. Helped with arranging airport transportation and Tour details.

Review 13:would have liked the gift shop to have been open earlier on Sunday and later in the evening.

Review 14:Everything including the view and big fireplace and great open area at the entrance. Staff English fluency was big plus and much appreciated.

Review 15:The water flow of the basin seems not so good.

Review 16:The location is not in the center but not far, very quiet, facing the lake, very pleasant. Staff are very kind and helpful. Restaurant is also very nice, room is cozy, definitely worthy.

Review 17:Excellent hotel!! Best option in Puerto Varas! The facilities, the room is just perfect, the living room in the first floor has an amazing view of the lake & volcanoes, the food, the spa and the pool are great! I totally recomend it! The luxury double room has a perfect view !

Review 18:+ Awesome value for money. Possibly the best value for money I've ever experienced, at least with off-season prices in the winter. + Excellent spa and lobby lounge area. + Responsive and helpful staff. Always smiling, and all spoke English.

Review 19:Would have liked to stay a few more days.

Review 20:I enjoyed the restaurant with a view it the Volcanoes, the hydro-massage, the gym, and the great staff. The overall experience was outstanding.

Review 21:Excepto el restaurant. Tiene muchas cosas que mejorar, en específico de la variedad en la oferta del menú. Los sushis de los días de buffet de sushis son muy básicos.

Review 22:Muy cómodo, rica y cómoda habitación. Vista espectacular.

Review 23:The hotel accommodated a two day delay due to late arrival of Navimag. Recommendations for the best bus company to travel helped to make a more pleasant onward journey. Due to evening departure we were able to stay in the room beyond regular checkout.

Review 24:Somewhat confusing to get to as a non-local trying to navigate Puerto Varas streets. It's highly visible, but located on a tricky to access street.

Review 25:The views of the lake are simply pristine. The lobby area is fresh and welcoming with huge windows facing the lake, making it (and the bar) an ideal place to unwind after a day of travel. Beds and rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel has a very nice feel to it.

Review 26:The restaurant meals were delicious but portions for both entrees and mains, very small.

Review 27:The location and views from the hotel and our room and its own terrace were spectacular. The service was friendly and speedy and the decor gorgeous.

Review 28:The breakfast was not good but then again most hotels in chile did nothave a great breakfast . The hotel patagonica and casa molino had thebest eggs of the entire trip

Review 29:Although the rooms are not that special I still rate this hotel highly .However the bed. Views and balcony make up for the lack of character inthe room. The common area is so relaxing at night . I really enjoyedhaving a drink on patio. We had stayed at cumbres one night then went tochiloe islamd and returned to casa molino which we regreted . Cumbreswas sold out so then we stayed at patagonica . I also enjoyed patogonica

Review 30:Nothing

Review 31:Everything, arrival, welcome drink, dinner with the superb view of 3 volcano's an outdoor area which was out of the wind, sunny and comfy, fantastic dinner and breakfast, best bed, even better than Correntoso, and a corner top floor with balcony..Lovely helpful employees.. Spa and Massage etc.swimming pool, small but enough.. more to say??? town,,, well just a settlers town really, with some interesting point of view.. the lake and the volcano's is the attraction..

Review 32:The Wifi almost never works (or works with a very weak signal). A number of the front desk staff speak limited or no English. Thermostat in room didn't work, so we had to keep the window open to prevent the room from overheating.

Review 33:Fabulous location, just slightly outside the tourist hubbub (a 5-10 minute lakeside walk). The rooms have huge windows with breathtaking views of Lake Llanquihue and Mount Osorno. Beautiful, very clean and well-maintained facility, very friendly staff.

Review 34:Air conditioners didn't work well, very basic bathrooms, receptionist does not answer phone after 11 p.m. Seems to be a common problem in most Chilean hotels we've been to. Poor English speaking skills of hotel staff.

Review 35:View of the lake, size of rooms, happy hour

Review 36:We had to have our food reheated at dinner one night at the Cumbres Hotel and I recommend reheating in an oven, not a microwave.

Review 37:The beauty of the area is hard to surpass. The side trips were nice especially to the falls.

Review 38:The food was average, but not hot when delivered. My wife commented that her fish was a bit old tasting. When re-heated it was microwaved which is not a good way to re-heat things because then they come out tough. Re-heating with an oven is much better.

Review 39:The lounge area was excellent with the view being fantaastic. The fireplace was super.

Review 40:I do not like being asked by the waiter for his tip in cash. This implies the hotel are skimming money off the service charge. Because of this we eat out for the rest of the stay

Review 41:The view

Review 42:When the hotel got busy over the weekend we only had lukewarm water for our showers.

Review 43:The location is great and the staff is super friendly. Would absolutely stay here again.

Review 44:When our car battery was dead, the staff had jumper cables to assist us with minutes. The views were amazing. The restaurant and bar was excellent. Sad to leave

Review 45:Nothing to dislike

Review 46:Location easy walking distance to the town Amenities Staff very helpful and efficient Great restaurant The view from our room, the restuarant and the Winter Garden of snow capped Orsono was spectacular.

Review 47:Breakfast was a low point. Not much variety of hot dishes. Regular coffe was low quality.

Review 48:The architecture and location are beautiful. The view from the room is a postcard. Friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant and bar are very good. Music alive in a friendly atmosphere in the evenings.

Review 49:Amazing views, relaxing lounge area with fireplace and good pisco sours, great room service, highly enjoyed free bike rentals, rooms were very clean and comfortable, very good value.

Review 50:Calm and efficient hotel friendly staff fantastic views

Review 51:Slow service from the bar in lounge area.

Review 52:View from the location and room quality and view. We liked the food.

Review 53:the view and the sauna

Review 54:no trained 5 star personel

Review 55:Kindness and service at the spa.

Review 56:Rooms, service at restaurants and food.

Review 57:View and clearness

Review 65:There is nothing to not like at this hotel

Review 66:Easy walk into the main area of town but far away that is very peaceful and a great view of the lake

Review 67:Very friendly and helpful staff. Very accommodating to needs of a couple with small kids

Review 68:The view across the lake, the room and the bed.

Review 69:The weather when we arrived spoilt the view.

Review 70:Everything. Absolutely outstanding

Review 71:I will recommend this Hotel to anybody traveling to south of Chile

Review 72:I especially like the part where it found this hotel. With lake views, evening and morning was simply sublime.

Review 73:There are construction ongoing in the upper floor. It was noisy.

Review 74:Room was very clean.

Review 75:Children (under 12) allowed at bar and swimming pool

Review 80:too expensive for the faciliites. Really small swimming pool

Review 92:The design of the hotel

Review 93:Comfortable rooms with great view, great location. Helpful staff.

Review 94:Need to sign in for wifi every time

Review 95:Location Sightseeing - view Comfort Bikes available at all times Food Evening music

Review 96:1. frequent interuption of wifi 2. No bottled water available. This is the only hotel that i know of that the guest has to buy water

Review 97:Breakfast choices and staff efficiency.

Review 98:Location and front of house staff.

Review 99:Occasional noise from an event at the hotel

Review 100:Great location, excellent facilities

Review 101:Restaurant food service and quality were excellent. Location remarkable for views across the lake. Will return.

Review 102:The only things the hotel management has to take care of are: pillows (awful) and some very worn out towels we got the first day, but when we complained to Housekeeping, they immediately changed them for new ones.

Review 103:We've stayed in two other hotels at Puerto Varas and Cumbres is by far, the best! Everything was wonderful, the facilities are great, especially the beautiful chimney where you really are attracted to stay. Rooms are spacious, comfortable King size bed, great lake and volcano view; good heating (it is normally cold at the south of Chile during the whole year, so this is important). Staff is really friendly and client service oriented, always. Not only at front desk, also at restaurant and bar.

Review 104:Our stay at Hotel Cumbres Puerto Varas was a wonderful experience and I only wish we could have stayed longer. The view from the guest rooms is the best I've ever had at a hotel!

Review 105:Music played in restuarant and bar was awful and made elevator music seem good.

Review 106:Location and view were great staff were friendly. Fitness center great.

Review 107:That we weren't able to do a late check-out. We had all day to wait for our night bus and it would have been convenient to enjoy our room a bit longer. The receptionist didn't give me the feeling that he tried to accommodate us and just said: No, hotel is fully booked. Was pretty empty and low season though..

Review 108:The amazing view of the lake and volcano. The Californian king size bed. The prices of mini-bar, bar and restaurant were very correct which is rare in hotels... That is smart, you are comfortable with the prices so you consume more and everyone is happy. The big chimney in the lobby. All together, it is a beautiful hotel.

Review 109:We were on the top floor and the WiFi was a bit patchy. That is the only complaint!

Review 110:A lovely, clean hotel with stunning views. The staff were brilliant especially Consuelo and David. They couldn't be more helpful. We hope to go back soon.

Review 111:Breakfast waiters are slow and they took a long time to bring what was asked. Cold cups would make coffee not so hot. In lunch time at Cumbres del Lago Restaurant the soup of the day was not hot and the brownie at the desert of the day was a dry piece of chocolate cake.

Review 112:The location couldn't be better just in front of Llanquihue lake but also near 'downtown'. The room 304 had a view of Osorno Volcano with its white top. The pool is at the 7th floor also with a view of the lake.

Review 113:Wifi kept dropping out but only a minor irritation.

Review 114:The location and views Very comfortable room with good, large bed and a roomy bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful especially when my husband was ill and had to see the doctor.

Review 115:Theh breakfast staff were a bit too eager to clear plates (even before you were finished). I had problems with the laundry service; their external laundry failed at a couple of tasks, even after I sent an item back once (I was able to wash it in my sink myself in 60 seconds, after their second attempt). The hotel staff tried to be helpful, and ironed one item for themselves. But the hotel should review this as one expects better!

Review 116:The front desk and lobby staff were exceptional, friendly, and helpful. They seemed to really enjoy their work and interacting with guests. They gym, though small, was great, The views everywhere - outstanding

Review 117:I think that the quality was not reasonable for its price. For example, when some trouble occured in my room, the staffs did not react quickly.

Review 118:Tha location is very good. Probably, one of the bests of Puerto Varas.

Review 119:We loved this hotel. The staff were very professional and attentive, the hotel was stylish, clean, and well appointed, and the location was fantastic with amazing views. Only 5-10 mins walk into town.
