Reviews for Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu
Review 1:The food is expensive and not worth it at all. You can easily price a 60$ meal to max 20$ quality wise. (Meal for 2) No activities to do at all Very isolated place
Review 2:Nothing
Review 3:Very nice location overlooking the St Lawrence river. Staff were all very nice. The food at the fine dinning restaurant was absolutely amazing!!!
Review 4:Chaos in the breakfast room. Pool crowded. Casino next door. Minimal view of the St. Lawrence river form our room, windows locked. 4* max, never a 5*.
Review 5:Golf Course was great, wonderful view.
Review 6:THey are building condos right up against the backdrop, and someone has sold land there, because there are hotels being built on the driveway, which also takes a lot away from the location, as well as having a gambling casino share the arrival driveway... also the outdoor pool is smack up against a bar, and it can't accommodate the amount of people there... not like the pics.
Review 7:It is in a marvelous location, and even though there is a new gambling casino, it is pretty unobtrusive. THe views are great, and it is still a lovely old place, with nice livingrooms.
Review 8:Can't understand the WiFi fee. Why would a hotel of such grandeur have to resort to fee for the WiFi.
Review 9:Staff were friendly and helpful, location was beautiful. Old and luxurious.
Review 10:The free parking was too far.
Review 11:I liked that everything was really organized and clean. The beds where really comfortable and the staff was amazing. Awesome hotel!
Review 12:Paying for WiFi is a scandal, it is NOT acceptable for the rooms price. What a shame Fairmont, we are in 2015!
Review 13:Beautiful location and very friendly staff
Review 14:The service at the restaurants and bar is extremely slow and inattentive. We were sitting for 30 minutes and not one server came to see us. I had to go ask them for some service at our table and even then it took them another 30 minutes to come take our order.
Review 15:The location is beautiful. The room was average. The bed was really comfortable.
Review 16:Although there are numerous restaurants, there is no "inexpensive" menu, such as in a pub setting. The hotel is a good 15 -20 minute walk from the village/restaurants and guests hesitate to drive because of the way parking is set up. We usually park the car and walk everywhere. This hotel is not conducive to that.
Review 17:The scenery around the hotel is spectacular. The golf course is beautiful (and a challenge). For the most part, the staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable and had a partial river view.
Review 18:Remarkably small room size, barely enough to fit the king sized bed-so small that the bathroom door could not be fully opened. Head bellman(?) Steve ignored up upon arrival and instead rushed to assist the family that arrived several moments after us. During our stay he either continued this behavior or acted like a long-lost friend. Was something else on his mind? I don't know, but in any service business you set outside concerns aside and focus on those you serve. At least, that's always been my approach.
Review 19:Staff and facilities were world class.
Review 20:Salt water pools are fantastic, the beds are very comfortable. Would've been better value if breakfast was included. Too expensive to eat at location .
Review 21:Asked for a nice and quiet room not near entrances/exits. Was given a room directly adjacent to service elevators and ice machine. Only noticed service elevators once settled for night as the noise of moving elevators kept us awake (the door to the service elevators was not marked as such so we did not notice it when we verified our room). The bed was TOO soft and both my husband and I kept "falling" to the middle during the night (we are both normal-sized people). We only had one pillow that was fluffy 3 others were so flat it was like a carpet.
Review 22:Beautiful surroundings and hotel albeit parts of it need upgrading. The hotel staff left 2 cupcakes for us in our room for our anniversary which was a very nice touch!
Review 23:Poker-faced women at the reception. After driving for 10 hours was told room would not be ready till 4pm, then suddenly "another" room was ready. Weird looks from the young and older woman at reception....
Review 24:Location, gardens, front doormen very helpful. The amenities in the room are divine.Wait staff at the restaurants were very good.
Review 25:dinner in Rive dining room: service was extremely slow given very few clients, meal was very average and mistakes on orders...prices were excessive given very average quality of food...overall: dining experience was very disappointing
Review 26:overall location, breakfast at Golf clubhouse, terrace service, golf clubhouse service were excellent
Review 27:No bath robes in the room which my grandchildren were looking forward to wearing to the pool area but they were brought to the room promptly when requested.
Review 28:View from our room (river side) too cramped by the window to consider useful. Really not worth paying extra for the river view. Beds only twin size rather than queen, and old jiggly mattresses. Given the 350$/night for a room for a family, I really did not feel it was good value for the money spent.
Review 29:Location and views from the rear hotel terrase are very good. Swimming pool, gym also very good.
Review 30:Expensive paid parking ($25) Self parking too far Buffet typedinning room
Review 31:Great view Magnificient golf course Few very nice restaurantsaround Casino
Review 32:Free parking is plentiful but be prepared to walk far and possibly up and down some very steep stairs.
Review 33:Incredible property with million dollar views. Everything is top-notch. Very romantic location.
Review 34:The hot breakfast buffet was not up to par. The cold breakfast buffet was adequate. (I breakfasted in town, at Les Pains d'Exclamation, after day one for a local experience.)
Review 35:A very comfortable hotel with every facility. The restaurant La Charlevoix is worthy of its multiple 4 Diamond awards. I ate there on consecutive evenings and the food was outstanding. The restaurant were also flawless in their service.
Review 36:Service was very good. The room was beautiful, clean and everything we needed was there. Many things to do at the hotel or you can just sit back and relax. The views are so beautiful.
Review 37:no fridge in the room (minibar took up all space) Internet costs about 15$/day 1 L bottle of water 10$ ??? (same brand is less than a dollar in the store).
Review 38:location service
Review 39:We had to leave
Review 40:Our river view room , the beds and pillows were wonderful . The staff at the pool and we meet a lady who severed us at dinner in the restaurant who had worked there for 21 years - the food the service was excellent
Review 41:Half of the restaurants were closed, the food was not worth the prices (96$ for two beers and two plates!!!)
Review 42:Outdoor pool and spa, history of the location, wonderful view
Review 43:No complaints - we only wish the outdoor pool was open when we stayed - closed due to the bad weather. Will just need to revisit.
Review 44:Helpful, friendly and genuine staff went out of their way to put things right, after a tree branch damaged the car we had parked outside during high winds. The area itself is beautiful, well worth the drive up from Quebec City. Some thoughtful gestures, like a bathrobe for our baby, late checkout and family based programs / entertainment packages showed that Fairmont are making a real effort to please their customers here.
Review 45:The double queen room is a bit small. Prices at all the hotel restaurants are very expensive.Ate off site in town. Charging for WiFi??
Review 46:Beautiful hotel, staff was very friendly and the view/location is world class.
Review 47:very poor food but nice service in belle rive restaurant, dust on all applications in common places ( grand hall, entry, elevator.....seems to be a perfect location for very old groups of people who wants to eat fast and easy and run to the casino ....
Review 48:exceptional location, unique view, great building. very comfy room very attentive and kind housekeeping staff caring for the rooms; nice outdoor pool. barman very skilled.... and pro ( both the woman and the man )
Review 49:Switch comments... The location is awesome.
Review 50:Terrible food and very overpriced for the mediocre selection and quality...the only thing worse than the food was the poor service at that restaurant....
Review 51:We were disappointed that our room overlooked a courtyard where there was a very loud function occurring late into the evening, so we could not sleep until it was finished. There was no option to switch rooms. We would have appreciated being told of this before we arrived.
Review 52:Classic hotel in a beautiful setting overlooking the river. We enjoyed the hotel facilities (pool, jacuzzi, restaurants) and the casino close by.
Review 53:could get crowded at times with tourist buses arriving and people checking in. Large conferences. People from gamble casino across.
Review 54:location of hotel and resort feeling. Had everything for a nice getaway. Swimming pool inside and outside, beautiful manicured grounds, great golf alongside river. Several choices of restaurants. Comfortable, luxurious areas, niches everywhere to sit and lelax
Review 55:After our rental car reservation disappeared into thin air (andcouldn't be retrieved), we took the Intercar bus service from QuebecCity to La Malbaie and a taxi to the hotel. I had arranged for a latearrival to be sure the staff knew we were coming. Upon arrival after four-plus hours of travel, the woman at the reception desk -- Marissa --treated us as though we were a nuisance. We were staying for 6 nights, and politely requested an upgrade, if available. She was dismissive andvery unfriendly. Moreover, we were overcharged slightly for a stay wehad booked on booking.com, with a very specific price. I pointed it outto the front desk staff and their response was "well, ourcomputerized system never makes an error." I did the computationand showed them the error...and they finally refunded the difference tomy credit card. I left wondering if they would have treated medifferently if I were Canadian!
Review 56:We loved our very comfortable room and the concierge wasextremely helpful. We took several memorable day trips to Baie St. Paul, Baie St. Catherine and a nearby fjord. The concierge was very helpful in booking a rental car and providing maps to find our way.
Review 57:The view was underwhelming (trees hiding the view, view on the roof rather than the river) The phone didn't work well The mini-fridge was warm The bed sheets were dirty When I told the woman at the desk that I wasn't satisfied, she kind of shrugged it off and didn't ask for more information
Review 58:The location
Review 59:At arrival in front of the hotel (after not being able to find a parking spot at parking 1, 2 and 3 - made 5 rounds - the staff did not pay any attention to us, so we decided to look for another parking ourselves. We ended up at the paid Casino parking. After check-in, we were told about the free parking lots 7 and 8 up the hill, so we drove there, having to carry all suitcases down the stairs. Service could have been better!
Review 60:Spacious rooms with good quality beds, Nespresso coffee machine in the room. Very friendly staff at reception. The indoor as well as outdoor pool (connected to each other) were great for our 4-year old. Whale watching (boat trip) at St. Siméon only a 45-minute drive from the hotel, so perfect for a day trip. Breakfast on the terras with a stunning view on the St. Lawrence River. Worth the money!
Review 61:Nothing (although booking.com needs their software updated)
Review 62:Everything - it's an exquisite resort with overwhelming views, grounds, history, etc. Fairmont hotels and resorts never disappoint - they always deliver superior service and guarantee an excellent vacation experience.
Review 63:A Bit pricy overall. I.e $14 per day for wireless internet service. generally free in other hotels. rooms were a bit pricy and parking was restricted. free spots were usually not available and alternative was $12 dollars per day in pay parking.
Review 64:Location, scenic, outdoor sports, Casino on site
Review 65:price/value equation dining experience was like a cafeteria given number of people, noise, etc. I will seek a more intimate facility the next time.
Review 66:nice grounds, clean room
Review 67:The charges for parking are very high since the price of the hotel is high already.
Review 68:We loved the bed and pillows it was very comfortable. I would say heavenly. The view is spectacular, relaxing area to stroll in nature.
Review 69:It was the little things that got to us. No one helped with our bags. Parking was 22 dollars and very hard to find a 12 dollar spot. Wifi was 15 dollars! Even Starbucks has free wifi. No staff to direct us to the right elevator...took us asking four people to finally find the corridor leading down to the other wing. No paper as promised in the morning. Food was not good at the cafe - and the waiter forgot our order, then gave wrong bill, and brought wrong food. Wow. We are seasoned travellers that stay at 4 or 5 star properties and often it's the little things that make or break your stay. Happy to pay for service but this Fairmont was not up to the standards of the others. A shame because it was a wonderful property and we loved driving to all the special little shoppes and markets in the area
Review 70:Wonderful facility with beautiful trails to wander on.
Review 71:It's "cheap" to ask for 13.95 dls. being conected to WIFI!! And 1 dollar to play billiard. The price already should include everything.
Review 72:The place and enviroments, the restaurants, the casino.
Review 73:Long way to travel if you just want a water view as there is no beach and if you do not play golf or gamble. Food at the restaurants on site was mediocre for the price. Also did not like the long walk to the free parking lot. They should have a shuttle golf cart available
Review 74:Nice facilities especially if you like to golf, gamble and sit by a pool. There are several area quality restaurants and art galleries.
Review 75:Parking should have shuttle via golf cart to distant upper lots and mediocre food on site
Review 76:Hike around property and fantastic view of water and pool amenities
Review 77:Really noisy
Review 78:The grand atmosphere; the historical displays, the bar that overlooks the river, the wonderful and well maintained walking/jogging trail.
