Reviews for Sugarbush Guest House B&B
Review 1:Hm... Honestly, everything was good.
Review 2:The room was clean and had everything we needed (except for the kettle, which is at the kitchen for safety purposes I guess). I haven't seen any staff but I received detailed instructions on how to get to the place and how to get in. I liked the coziness and the cleanliness the most. OH! There were also some DVD's in the room, so me and my brother had fun watching The Groundhog Day :-) There is Shoppers Drug Mart, Beer Store, some Sushi place and a diner 5 min walking from the guesthouse. The diner offers breakfast until 4 pm.
Review 3:Very disappointed. Bed was too firm for us personally. No light at front door when we arrived. Never once met the hosts in the 3 days we were there. Breakfast was only continental. Not what we expected from previous experiences with bed and breakfasts.
Review 4:It was very clean. Very close to the location we were needing to be at.
Review 5:Very nice and comfortable rooms Free bikes for rent to get to know Waterloo Great breakfast self-made by David Beautiful garden with a hot tub Very helpful owner
Review 6:The host is moving soon. I won't see the same one as excellent as this next time I stay.
Review 7:the host is so thoughtful. The room was facilitated with everything I want. Rich breakfast.
Review 8:I liked everything of it. Truly exceeded my expectations. It's the best B&B where I have been. Very friendly and worm environment, very nice room (I was in the Siesta Room), extraordinary clean shared washroom, nice and relaxing garden and breakfast/sitting room, where I loved to socialize with other guests. The host, Dave, is so friendly and amazingly helpful, and spoiled us with a wonderful breakfast in the morning. For sure I will come back to this place when visiting my son at the University of Waterloo.
Review 9:We had a wonderful one night stay and David was an excellent host. He made us a wonderful breakfast. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Absolutely no complaints !! we would highly recommend it as a warm and inviting place to stay .
Review 10:I would have liked to check-in earlier. There was only one bathroom for the 3 rooms at the place. Fortunately the other rooms were not occupied whilst we were in, so we did not have to share.
Review 11:It was a quiet and peaceful. Since there was no one else around at that time, we were not disturbed. There was a lounge cum dinning room and a gazebo at the back, where one could relax. It was a comfortable place to spend a weekend away. The host was attentive.
Review 12:The price was a bit steep for a solo traveller.Could there have been an incentive price to stay a 2nd night?
Review 13:Modern, clean, quiet and cheerful. The host was very pleasant and made one feel comfortable and safe.He made sure that everyone met one another.
Review 14:Excellent location, quiet residential Waterloo, some restaurants nearby, super host, great breakfast in a beautiful room looking onto the back garden. Highly recommended.
Review 15:David is a friendly, welcoming, delightful host with whom we shared lively conversations. Room, bathroom, sitting area on deck are spacious and well appointed. Beautiful well-kept gardens. Lovely aesthetic touches everywhere. Breakfast to each person's requirements. Sitting/Games room with games available for guests. We loved it!
Review 16:Friendly, helpful host. Nice shared sitting area. Very accommodating to breakfast preferences. Would have preferred a more private bath , otherwise very nicely appointed rooms.
Review 17:Maybe there was soap provided, but if so I didn't see it. (There was shampoo, though, and towels were very fluffy.)
Review 18:The host was very welcoming and the breakfast was excellent (cereal, toast with a choice of jams, fresh waffles with chopped strawberries and whipped cream, a choice of teas or coffee, etc). The house is within easy walking distance of the university, with several stores and restaurants close by.
Review 19:My computer didn't connect to the WiFi though I am unsure if it was an issue with my computer itself. The driveway was also a little inconvienent...
Review 20:Great breakfast (different everyday) with friendly service. The place is well kept and is very laid back. Would stay again.
Review 21:The stay was too short, only one night.
Review 22:The attentative, thoughtful host was most pleasant. He runs an efficient, pleasant B & B: a clean, tidy, quiet bedrom along with a delicious breakfast.
Review 23:The ac was off and couldn't get room comfortable for sleep. Mattress has seen better days. Feel too bad that owner moving on in a week ..it showed. Felt hotel would have been better choice. Did not have typical B and B feel....just a cramped room in a house..... Sorry!,,,
Review 24:It was small and quiet and excellent for those visiting one of the nearby universities. It is not a vacation destination, although if you were hiking all day, it would be a nice place to come back to.
Review 25:only 2 bicycles available in OK condition, quite far from public transport and downtown (but hard to find closer accomodations in Waterloo)
Review 26:wifi, swiming pool, jaccuzi, close to university, garden, nice people, good food
Review 27:The central A/C made me a bit uncomfortable, too cold for me. There should be a way of regulating it from each room.
Review 28:A friendly environment to stay , the breakfast was very OK location too is good, very close to shopping area. It is a home away from home. Will not mind staying there again.
Review 29:maybe the location wasn't perfect and parking seemed a bit problematic
Review 30:very nice (though brief) experience, came in late (owner had sent me self-checkin instructions, I missed them, and was lucky to still find her around), left early morning, still got nice self-serve breakfast liked family-business atmosphere
Review 31:David was a great host a sweetheart. Area was central for walking and markets. We slept well thanks again
Review 32:Wifi slower than molasses.
Review 33:Price and location were fine
Review 34:Second time, it's good when I come late
Review 35:Quiete location, but not far from bus stops. Helpful host, good breakfasts.
Review 36:Nearby stores
Review 37:My stay at Sugarbush was simply perfect. The owner is really nice and cooks wonderful breakfasts.
Review 38:Rooms have very thin walls. Does not feel private enough.
Review 39:Clean, good breakfast, quiet residential neighborhood
Review 40:The staff, environment, rooms and food were all superb. Amazing place...
Review 41:Did not find any dislikes
Review 42:Very quiet and peaceful. Tastefully decorated backyard with nice gazebo to relax in.
Review 43:Shared bath, but to be fair it was spotless, so felt verycomfortable using it.
Review 44:Location is generally great, next to a plaza with Tim Hortons, ShoppersDrug Mart, a few restaurants etc. 10-15 min walk from Laurier. Was a bitlonger to my building at UWaterloo, 25 mins. Fantastic breakfast roomand gardens.
Review 45:Great home to stay in. Breakfast was fresh made and on my convenience. Room was big, clean and comfortable. Easy check in and out. I was there for work and was able to get a lot done have a desk in my room with good wifi. Will stay there again when I come back.
Review 46:The owner was very attentive. The food was great. It was a great location for Laurier University. The room was comfortable clean and well decorated.
Review 47:Air freshner in bath overwhelming Price should be $80
Review 48:Parking good Shared bath very clean Extra heater in room Good variety of food choices Many amenities in bathroom
Review 49:Complete breakfast was available only between 8am and 9am; semi-industrial & semi-residential neighborhood, it is better to have a car.
Review 50:I had a room with a private entrance; it was a bit more money, but worth it. Nice garden around the house. Lots of DVDs available in the room.
Review 51:We were never shown around the house, and therefore felt like we were trespassing every time we left our room. Our room (and the rest of the guest house) was dated... And not in a cute way. We felt like we were sleeping over at our great aunts house, although our aunt would have made us feel more welcome. Our bed was hard as rocks. Literally. Hard as rocks. Did I mention that you there is only one bathroom? Meaning that you're sharing it with upwards of 6 other people at any given time.Breakfast was anything but "gourmet" as described on the website. Waffles with fruit, and tasteless omlets.Parking was a near nightmare as every time we wanted to leave the house we had to get someone else to move their vehicle which was blocking us in I suggest you try to park at the shoppers around the block anyways... Our rental car came away from the house with several scratches and dents from other car doors as a result of the parking issue. While we were staying at sugarbush the owners were having a birthday party for their ten year old daughter, which would have been totally fine if we as guests would have been notified about it. We weren't able to go into the back yard while the party was going on and felt like we again were being held hostage in our room. While the party was going on we overheard another guest knock on the owners door. He told them that the microwave wasn't working and being dinner time he wanted to use it. The owner answered his request by saying "we're busy right now, were having a party. I'll look at it later." In my opinion this is no way to treat your guests. They're the ones paying your bills and should be the priority. Stepping away from the party or offering for the guest to use the owners microwave would have been good customer service.I'm really not sure how this place has a 9.2 rating... It's actually mind boggling. For your best interest, please DO NOT stay here.
Review 52:Location was great. Close to a lot of amenities.
Review 53:The decor is quite dated.
Review 54:The service is really good and Sandi is very friendly. The location is perfect if you are visiting one of the universities. The breakfast is excellent.
Review 55:The cook doesn't arrive until 8 am to MAKE breakfast so if you have to be somewhere by 9 am you are not going to make. If you are not worried about the time then breakfast was good
Review 56:It was in a good location and the owner was very friendly.
Review 57:The woman who manages the bed and breakfast was friendly, funny and charming. The breakfast she prepared each morning were nutritious and delicious...lucky me! The rooms themselves were charming and clean. I was very comfortable at the Sugarbush Guesthouse.
Review 58:Family friendly atmosphere. Very friendly and considerate host.
Review 59:I am not a big fan of sharing a bathroom facility, but it is a B&Bso this is to be expected. I was well aware that I would have to sharefacilities before making the booking. The bathroom, however, was keptclean and well supplied so it wasn't a big issue.
Review 60:Excellent location, only two minutes to Sir Wilfred Laurier University.Clean and comfortable facilities. Excellent fresh breakfast and friendlyproprietor. Sandi went out of her way to accommodate our group in townfor a tournament when we could not find other accommodations for two ofour coaches. She also accommodated our very early morning schedule toensure that we had breakfast before we had to leave. Thank you.

Review 63:Quiet, great location, close to Waterloo, easy and friendly. Will definitely stay again when I can take more time for the relaxation part of the experience.
