Reviews for Hotel Belvedere

Review 1:Amazing hotel, really cool place with lots of character. So much better than a chain hotel. We has an amazing room, very clean and breakfast was great.

Review 2:Needs a renewal. Paint peeling, plumbing old and leaky, carpets and bathroom not very clean. Over priced for what you get. Won't be back.

Review 3:Grand old house

Review 4:Parking is tight, the house is creaky, the bed and pillows were not that comfy. No drawers, but large closets. Little bathroom storage space to hide your personal things.

Review 5:The house was amazing. Very quint feel. Internet speed was good and TV was nice. I liked the old furniture and pieces in the room. The breakfast, although light, was very cute. The coffee was amazing. I'll need to find out how to buy more and I liked the cute little jam bottle. Also, I didn't get to spend time in the lounge, but it looked like it would be a great place to read or drink coffee.

Review 6:Little disappointed in the design of the room after seeing a couple of the other roms had a king room but the queen rooms were much nicer

Review 7:The history and style of the hotel Old world charm of the place

Review 8:Third floor room on a hot day was very warm - the window air conditioner unit was not very capable and very noisy. The bathroom was very cramped (the toilet, I am not a big man but, I had to stand up to "clean up" if you get my drift)....and the shower did not drain. The parking was very tight, afraid I would be blocked in by guests with huge suvs...as it was took 5 minutes and a spotter to extricate my sedan.

Review 9:The breakfast on the patio. The closeness to downtown. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 10:The breakfast was not to my liking. No fruit, just juice along with white English muffin and jam. Too much sugar and no whole grains. I had to go to the market to buy my breakfast.

Review 11:Location and beautiful house

Review 12:The breakfast is sparse and someone was smoking below my room at 4:00AM.

Review 13:Cool old mansion with lots of history. Our room had high ceilings, lots of space and a comfortable bed. The location is great, close to downtown Kingston but not close enough to be disturbed by revellers.

Review 14:The place is a bit funky in its upkeep--which was fine in summer especially. It looks like a very gracious hotel in whose day there were more "helpers" to maintain the place. An elevator would be especially good for older folks.

Review 15:I loved the location, and the antiques, quaintness of hotel, and the terraces were great. Very helpful staff. Very quiet.

Review 16:This is a lovely hotel in a splendid 19th century home, close to the waterfront in Kingston. It was quiet, clean, and comfy. After days of chain hotels, it was a true pleasure.

Review 17:Not a place I would likely have young children stay, but terrific for adult travellers that enjoy quiet comfort in attractive, Victorian-themed surroundings

Review 18:The Belvedere has an attractive, understated elegance as befits an old Kingston mansion...our second stay, the Hotel is walking distance to vibrant downtown Kingston, its harbour, Queens U, parks - and very comfortable, well-appointed rooms.

Review 19:The bathroom is a bit dark.

Review 20:Good location in downtown Kingston. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice to have breakfast in the open yard. Would be nicer if there are more food rather than English muffin.

Review 21:Some small areas of redecorating required. Attention to detail.

Review 22:Lovely building with character. Nice breakfast in the garden or as you wish even in the room. Friendly staff and a very pleasant stay. Would easily go back.

Review 23:We felt the property and especially the bathroom was clean but tired. The staff was friendly and helpful but needed more refinement in dress .

Review 24:The historical heritage of the facilities and the easy access to the waterfront was great. The lounge and outdoor patio were lovely.

Review 25:The third floor garret room that we had was a bit tired and painted a rather murky green. Perhaps this was historic, but made the room unnecessarily dingy and dark. Between the very threadbare carpet and the wobbly antique tables it felt a bit like the attic storage where you put those pieces that you wouldn't want in the main house.

Review 26:Beautiful location in historic part of Kingston. Convenient to downtown. The main common rooms are beautifully appointed and the architectural features of the house very beautiful and well maintained.Friendly welcoming staff and a lovely continental breakfast.

Review 27:Not for people looking for upscale, luxurious accommodations, but we weren't.

Review 28:This was a lovely old building, preserved and turned into a hotel. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple and good with a wonderful presentation. We ate on the outdoor patio which added to the charm of our stay. The hotel was within a few blocks walk of the area of Kingston we wanted to see.

Review 29:The beds are old and have rattling noises (depending on what you are doing in bed)

Review 30:Breakfast was sent to the room. Simple but very good. The building is historic and beautiful.

Review 31:The first bedroom had a very small and tight bathroom, not nice. The second room was much better, with a spacious, bright bathroom with window.

Review 32:Spacious rooms with unique old furniture. We stayed 2 nights, visited Toronto, and returned to Belvedere for another 3 nights. Simple but adequate light breakfast, lots of fresh fruits.

Review 33:Bathroom was small with a tiny mirror and an old bathtub that you had to climb into to have a shower. Badly needs renovation.

Review 34:Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 35:I.guess we are used to modern facilities and furnishings. However, after a while, we got used to the antiques, and the bit of a quaint styling. Would we stay here again - NO.

Review 36:Breakfast delivered was prompt but meager-could have had a bowl of fruit and yogurt?

Review 37:Friendly staff, accommodating and helpful. Great fresh orange juice. Great central location with parking at the back.

Review 38:The parking is very tight! The bathrooms are very small, in keeping with an old building, but some upgrades are needed.

Review 39:It is very convenient, can walk to where I want to go and leave my car. Love the old fashioned and interesting rooms. Staff very pleasant.

Review 40:There was no shower in my room (but there was a Jacuzzi). There was no working desk in my room. Next time, I will ask for those!

Review 41:Beautiful building with lots of charm and character. Great location near Queen's University.

Review 42:The breakfast is limited.

Review 43:The rooms are extra spacious (queen room) and gorgeous. There is free room service. The staff is great. I don't see why anyone would want to go to some ordinary chain hotel when you can stay here for a comparable price. Would always stay here while in Kingston, guaranteed.

Review 44:Could not control the temperature in the room- was too hot. No radio in the room.

Review 45:Pleasant and well maintained Victorian building, with excellent continental breakfast served in a lovely old drawing room. Staff very welcoming.

Review 46:They all went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. Because of them and all of the items above I would recommend this hotel to everybody who is going to Kingston.

Review 47:continental breakfast was mediocre, could have included fruit, scone, fresh muffins etc. real local cheeses... not packaged.

Review 48:Great location, lovely old world charm, parking good and large rooms.

Review 49:I felt badly, the shower curtain did not make it all the way around the tub (or I didn't close it propery) causing a bit of a flood on the bathroom floor. Suggest a sign to advise guests to ensure the curtain is fully closed to avoid this.

Review 50:Stayed overnight while visitin with my daughter who attends Queens University. We had a great day, dinner out and a very comfortable stay at Hotel Belvedere. Quaint, character, welcoming staff, lovely room and super comfortable bed. Enjoyed the breakfast in the morning as well, nice spot and I will return.

Review 51:Our room was in the top floor, it looked like an attic, somot was very cold. Breakfast was only an English muffin, jam and cream Cheese.

Review 52:Great location, staff and decoration.

Review 53:Nothing

Review 54:The atmosphere of this hotel was very appealing. The rooms were large and beautifully furnished. Breakfast was served in a lovely room with the ambience of a hotel from years gone by. Very homely compared to large chain hotels.

Review 55:Our bathroom was very small with very little space to manoeuver or spots to set out toiletries. When we checked out I told the receptionist we weren't happy with the bathroom and she did apologize however I had booked only 2 weeks before and they were at full capacity.

Review 56:Loved the old building. Very quaint. The location was perfect. The staff were very friendly and personable

Review 57:Beautiful mansion nested into a tree-lines street in Kingston's downtown core. Spacious, avant garde style rooms made you feel like you walked into a different era. Lovely hotel!

Review 58:The breakfast was not great.and the air conditioning was very noisy so we had to turn it off.

Review 59:It was a lovely old building.and located close to the University and close to downtown.the staff was very friendly.

Review 60:Nothing that we do not like. We hope the owners will be able to maintain this very rare infrastructure for years to come, and be fortunate enough to keep employing the special people who keep the business running

Review 61:The rooms are one of a kind and most inspiring, the atmosphere romantic almost by default One is rarely able to come to know how things "used to be done" once upon a time, without spending a fortune

Review 62:The climb to the 3rd floor.

Review 63:Beautiful old hotel. Charming rooms, spacious too. Lovely bit of breakfast with fresh juice and coffee in the morning right in our room. Great location for sightseeing downtown.

Review 64:Parking is pretty tight in the back.

Review 65:Great place to stay. Like visiting a rich aunt and staying in her home. Very comfortable and clean. Quiet and private.

Review 66:Really just nitpicking, but as in a lot of places in Canada, the windows could do with a cleaning.

Review 67:Friendly staff, much bigger inside the house than what you see on the outside. Free car-parking (a rarity this close to a city centre). Romantic-looking hotel on the inside also, breakfast was nice and personal (i.e. no buffet). Good bed. Overall enjoyable short stay.

Review 68:N o t h I n g !!

Review 69:There is nothing I don't like in this hotel. It was just great!!My husband and I still talk about this hotel. It's one of the best things we have done during the trip! I wanna be there someday!!

Review 70:There was no little fridge, very small tv, water ran very slow down the drain in tub, no sign warning of raised step just before entering our room very dangerous

Review 71:We liked the location, the charm, the staff very friendly, the bed was very comfortable

Review 72:Location was excellent, everything is within walking distance, I'd definitely recommend walking/cycling Kingston to get the most from it. The bed was very comfortable.

Review 73:Very small bathroom, no tea and coffee in the room.

Review 74:close to centre of kingston and coastline. More like a guest house/ B&B rather than a hotel but ideal for a short stay. Very helpful and friendly staff. Small kitchen in the room which was useful.

Review 75:Our room was upgraded and much appreciated. We had a nice conversation with the proprietors who made us feel very welcome. Very good location, parking and room. We left early prior to breakfast but there was fruit available. We will stay here again.

Review 76:Loved the old rooms and the lounge, we drank wine and played cards for a couple hours before walking to dinner.

Review 77:Pleasant historical atmosphere

Review 78:All good.

Review 79:Old world ambiance.

Review 80:Very accommodating for my daughter's pre wedding pictures. Beautiful room.

Review 81:No elevator or anyone to help with luggage up the stairs. I also wish the breakfast was more generous.

Review 82:Needs a major refresh.

Review 83:Lovely atmosphere and original Victoria building and features.

Review 84:breakfast not up to standard

Review 85:very individual hotel

Review 86:No elevator and I didn't know that. Maintenance of my room was very low.

Review 87:The staff was very good! But no elevator

Review 88:Bathrooms are really dated, breakfast was so so.

Review 89:Location is great. Great historical house

Review 90:Breakfast was good but not much variety.
