Reviews for Au Pic de l'Aurore Motel-Chalets
Review 1:The view from the motel (and from the room in our case) was very impressive. The facilities were very adequate and the beds comfortable. Bathroom a bit small. Obviously you must take the car to go and eat in the evening and Perce when we visited was busy closing down at the end of a long season. However we had a very enjoyable dinner at La Maison du Pecheur which we would heartily recommend. I don't think I'd have enjoyed the motel as much if it had been full and my wife struggled a bit to overcome the impression of being in a holiday camp.
Review 2:Cosy, rustic, spotless cabin in a fantastic location! Absolutely gorgeous view (not all units have a view)! Jean Francois was pleasant and efficient (although probably tired from a busy summer as it wasn't until our second morning that we saw his wonderful smile). Continental breakfast offered (free for with rooms without kitchenette) includes your choice of a muffin or a croissant - both the bran muffin and the chocolate croissant were among the very best we've ever tasted! The coffee was excellent as well! We'll be back!
Review 3:Need a vehicle to go into town, but the upside is the peace and quiet of this location.
Review 4:Beautiful view of Perce Rock when there is no fog of course. Clean and well maintained log cabins.
Review 5:The electrical in the cottages is poor. One lamp got very hot so could not use it. There was a sign in kitchen that said you could only plug one appliance in at a time. Hard to cook a meal. Wifi very weak. Not a good value.
Review 6:Good location.
Review 7:The only negative to my stay was that I sometimes couldn't connect to the WIFI.
Review 8:The room was very big - a king sized bed on one end, a large sitting area on the other with a double murphy bed, a small sitting area with desk in between the two. The balcony had a beautiful panoramic view of the town of Perce, along with Perce Rock. Staff were very friendly and had no problem with conversing in English.
Review 9:Wifi intermittent, very basic breakfast of coffee, juice, toast, and either a croissant or a muffin
Review 10:Amazing views of the Perce rock from the site. Room deceptively spacious.
Review 11:Beautiful location overlooking Perce Rock. Stayed in the motel's King Room with Sea View. There was a large living/sitting room with sofa and two chairs and television. The sitting room has a large picture window overlooking the St. Lawrence.
Review 12:This us not the fault of staff, but we ate lunch outside on picnic table. Everything was beautiful. Then the 2 women in chalet next door pulled up beside us and let van idle for 10 mins. Cough, cough! Why do people do this, I wish other guests would be more respectful. I think they were from Ontario.
Review 13:I loved everything, it was gorgous! Everything worked perfectly, you can tell the owners & staff are meticulous in taking care of all the little details.
Review 14:Nothing!
Review 15:This was a delightful place! We were thunderstruck by the view and the total cleanliness of our room when we first walked into our room. It sparkled. The room was spacious, had a desk that was perfect for working on the computer, and a sitting area with a couch and two chairs with a roomy refrigerator that held our cooler supplies. Very relaxing place to stay with the added bonus of nice deck overlooking Perce Rock and Bonaventure Island. Don't miss this place! Proprietor very knowledgeable and personable. Very helpful with local recommendations.
Review 16:Located uphill from Percé, just 30 sec. by car from the village, this hotel offers the best view on Roché Percé, Ile Bonaventure and the village of Percé. The owner was extremely nice and helpful in providing recommendations on restaurants and activities. The continental breakfast is served in the building where the reception is located and again the view is amazing!! If you go for the continental breakfast, choose the carrot muffin, it's great.
Review 17:Location: on top of the hill and having a commanding view thru the window and from the veranda over the town, the rock, and the sea; 3 min drive to the town for various events. Reception: inn keeper cordial and sincere and knowledgable about Gaspe and Quebec and its people. Room: clean, spacious, airy and comfortable. Price: quite reasonable for a suite. Will recommend it to family and friends.
Review 18:We have no complaints ourselves. The breakfast is homemade muffins, crossants, toast, juice and coffee....for a more hearty breakfast you would have to go elsewhere.
Review 19:We enjoyed the awesome view of Perce and the Rock from the balcony of our room!!! The room was very roomy, clean, and had all the comforts of home. The owner was very pleasant.
Review 20:The chalet was very comfortable with a most spectacular view of the Rock and Bonaventure Island. Our host was very informative about boat rides and places to eat.
Review 21:nothing
Review 22:This motel is literally above the rest, above in the mountain overlooking the town. A beautiful view of the town, Perce rock and the ocean, almost a panaramic view. There are complimentary homemade croissants in the morning. I highly recommend you stay here while in Perce.
Review 23:Not having time to stay longer
Review 24:The confortable room, the quiet environment. The gorgeous view to the sea and bonaventura island. A friendly and helpful management. Presence of a guest laundry. A good performance ratio.
Review 25:We had no complaints at all.
Review 26:The views from the elevated position above Perce were excellent. The cabin was clean and the area was quiet. A limited breakfast was served, but was very good.
Review 27:The view from the general site was outstanding. Not all units had a great view, but it really didn't matter as the common area overlooked the town and geologic features. We made a great choice by staying there.
Review 28:What's not to like?
Review 29:Location, location, location! Jean-Francois and Marie Fresh house made croissants Morning view from the bar Afternoon view from the bar Moonlight view from the bar
Review 30:Would have liked the continental breakfast to have been available earlier than 8 AM...We slkipped it in favor of getting an early start. The necessary road construction made access to the property very difficult. (not their fault). But it was a problem.
Review 31:Inexpensive, roomy cabin. well located overlooking the village of Perce.Extra pillows and a blanket were available. bathroom was adequete...the bed was comfortable Was cool the night we stayed but the electric heat handled it ok. Wood heat was also an option though we didn't use the fireplace... Would reccomend that you use the wood fire if tempertures fall below freezing..
Review 32:- not offering a bar / restaurant
Review 33:- location: the view from the chalet is faboulous - the chalet has everything you need for your family, like at home
Review 34:Poor to nil Wi-Fi, short bed for a tall person and the bathroom smelled like an outhouse.
Review 35:Nicely decorated, had a good view and was close but not too close to the town.
Review 36:The manager, Jean-François, was extremely helpful and always went the extra mile to make us feel right at home. Stay there & you will definitely enjoy!!
Review 37:The manager suggested we pay another $10 and get a room with a view and it was well worth it. The room was almost two rooms and we had a small balcony overlooking the sea.
Review 38:Old rooms and furniture (but pretty clean). Beds hard as rock. Coffee pot supplied but no coffee supplies at all. One little bar of soap for tub and washbasin which are in separate rooms, with no other supplies at all. They cheaped out all the way...... It did not give me a welcoming feeling nor make me want to return.
Review 39:Great view from area to Perce rock. The town was great. I recommend the town.
Review 40:We can't think of anything we didn't like.
Review 41:We stayed in a cabin and we were very please with the cleanliness and privacy we had. The staff was always helpful and available to us. The scenery was stunning and the site was sufficiently away from town and its crowded streets. We would stay there again without reservation.
Review 42:nothing really, a pool would have been nice but, given the short season, it's understandable
Review 43:view from the location, size and arrangement of our room, friendliness and helpfulness of the owner/manager, (juice, croissant and coffee) $4 add-on in reception area
Review 44:The owner was very personal and very helpful with tips to make our visit the best it could be. The location is amazing with the bar/dinning area overlooking the ocean which was conducive to whale watching. We were sad to leave but as the owner said we need to leave in order to come back.

Review 111:The view from the main room was spectacular and the fresh baked goods for breakfast were very good
Review 112:Nothing really.
Review 113:Very charming and clean chalets, all equipped with a fireplace (owner provides wood for free). Ours had a view on the Rocher Percé and the Bonaventure Island. We were allowed to use the laundry room until late at night, so that was definitely appreciated, because we had a lot of clothes to wash. The owner is very nice and very helpful. He gave us tons of advice for the rest of our trip in the Maritimes. He also makes nice breakfasts.
Review 114:Location is perfect, the view is beautiful. Staff is very helpful n friendly. The room looks a bit old but is spacey and clean. Had a very pleasant stays there.
Review 115:Sitting atop a cliff high above the village of Percé, you can't help but feel like you're residing in an eagle's nest! The village of Percé is only 2 km away, but I would not recommend walking or biking up and down (unless you're VERY fit), because the hill is extremely steep, and dangerous at night (unlit). With the car it literally takes 2 minutes. "Continental breakfast" is offered, which translates into: tea, coffee, juice and croissants. Not a cornucopia, but just enough to start your day. I should mention that there is no kitchen in the reception building (also where breakfast is served), which could explain this. There are several restaurants down below to satiate bigger appetites. Our host Jean-François is a quiet and friendly guy. He gladly provided us with all the information we asked. Behind the reception is a small bar open all day, and a lounge further at the back that yields a breath-taking view of the rock, Bonaventure island and the whole peninsular region. A telescope is also available for onlookers. PS: If weather is uncertain, and you want to take the boat to the rock and Bonaventure island, call ahead using the free number to inquire. Buying your tickets from Jean-François is *much* cheaper by the way. ;) Recommended, especially for the view, the tranquillity and the fireplaces. Mark & Martin Holland
