Reviews for Ambassador Conference Resort

Review 1:Distance to ice dispenser. Thought pool would be bigger.

Review 2:Staff was great, friendly and helpful. Even greeted us with a Merry Christmas! Nice to hear as there is too much 'political correctness' and people being afraid of saying Merry Christmas. Keep on keeping Christ in Christmas! Good for you.

Review 3:The pool area (water park) was not up to expectation. The whirlpool hot tubs were too cool, one sauna didn't seem to be working, the overall temperature of air in the pool area was too cool. Rooms were somewhat small.

Review 4:It was clean and rooms were comfortable. Staff was helpful.

Review 5:There is no continental breakfast. The pool had so much chlorine in it that young kids could not stop coughing and had to leave. The life guards where wearing towels as it was so cold in the pool area. Even the pool was cold (19 degrees). People who did order room service on our floor the day before... There dishes sat outside their rooms for the duration of the day and into the next morning .

Review 6:The clean towels

Review 7:We made arrangements for our room with fridge & microwave a month in advance, when we arrived our room was changed (not a big deal), however it took 2 days to get the microwave. That created an issue for a couple days. However when we did get it for our remaining 3 days they didn't charge us.

Review 8:The staff was friendly. Hotel was clean. Amenities were as described.

Review 9:hot tubs had so much chlorine in them you started chocking as soon as you entered! Rooms were small and furniture was very cheap

Review 10:Pool is nice hot tubs had so much chlorine in them you started chocking as soon as you entered!

Review 11:The distance from the check in desk to the room was intolerably long where they put us and the restaurant was located next to the desk. The cleaning staff were very noisy in the hallway outside out door first thing in the morning.

Review 12:The food was excellent but pricey. The bed was firm and comfortable. Their Customer Services Manager did contact me after I posted my complaints (below).

Review 13:Only 2 of 5 splash pad activities were operational. If all 5 were working my kids would have loved it.

Review 14:JM's room service food was good. Breakfast was great expecially Lupita the server, and as a server myself I'm often critical. We are a family of 5 (3 young kids) and extra towels were brought to our room without even asking.

Review 15:Need more hanging bars in the bath tub, most hotels with a pool need this for wet bathing suits.

Review 16:The pool and the water slide, and breakfast buffet even though it wasn't included in the price. Right across the road from the flea market.

Review 17:The staff banged on my door at 9 am to see if I was in the room. I had a very late night helping with my Mom's move and was extremely tired - have never stayed in a hotel where they wake you up at 9 am. Put your do not disturb on the door, maybe that will help.

Review 18:It is an easy drive to anything in Kingston

Review 19:Pool happened to be closed when we arrived. Hot tubs were working, though.

Review 20:Updated appearance. Restaurant on site. Indoor waterpark a treat for swimmers.

Review 21:The hot tubs were working intermittently, the pool pump was broken on the second day of our stay, poor wifi, beds horribly uncomfortable

Review 22:Staff was friendly at check in/out

Review 23:Had some issues at check in.Staff inexperience resulted in my credit card being charged three times. Waiting to see if corrections are made.

Review 24:The location was good. Minutes to downtown.

Review 25:Room didn't have a safe. Check-in was slow waiting to find out if room was ready after check-in time. Desk clerk was annoyed by something work related. I don't think she normally works the desk and seemed unhappy about it. Although it didn't affect my room, my travelling companions we subjected to a wedding party being loud all night. Why you mix wedding guest rooms with other guests is beyond me.

Review 26:Comfy bed and lots of pillows.

Review 27:Being a person with a disabled permit and having to walk from furthest end of parking lot from my room to enter the building late at night instead of being able to park in disabled designated parking.

Review 28:Not much

Review 29:got booked in a handycap room!. shower flooded bathroom & entry-way.had to relocate room!! next level no refrigerator could not connect to wi- fi, Then when we finally got settled, fire alarm went and had to grab few things and evacute room!!!

Review 30:Terrible view of a wall from our window. Bathroom needs work and we could hear people using the toilet in the room next to us. I would look around for another hotel in this price range that offers a breakfast but would go back, ask for a better room and eat out (cost $30.00 to eat breakfast at the hotel).

Review 31:Price was right. Great staff. Quiet. Room small but clean.

Review 32:1.Lack of privacy on 1st floor rooms. 2.Staff on break walking by the rooms and sometimes looking into the rooms. 3.Not enough information given about the relationship between the type of rooms chosen and the floors on which the rooms are located. 4.Noise 5. Poor Wi-Fi connection. 6. Considering the cost, it is surprising that it is not a bed-and-breakfast hotel.

Review 33:Easy to locate. Close to down town

Review 34:The washroom on the main floor near the desk needed cleaning and decorating. It would have left a bad impression if we had not been as happy otherwise.

Review 35:The staff were excellent and friendly. We enjoyed our breakfasts but they are not included in the price. The room was pleasant, quiet and comfortable and the amenities were all good. All was convenient.

Review 36:The room wasn't clean. The bathroom needed better cleaning; there was blood stains on one of the lamp shades between the two beds plus blood stains on one of the comforters. The hallways were dark and dingy. They advertise that they offer free wifi - we never could get connected and when I called down to the front desk about it they weren't helpful. Breakfast was terrible but the waitress was great and didn't make us pay for that as we couldn't eat more than a couple bites. When we went to check out we were told we had three long distance charges made that morning - we absolutely never made any calls! I was livid by that point and the Front Desk Clerk ended up taking off those bogus charges.

Review 37:The bed and pillows were comfortable

Review 38:hallways dark, need reno to brighten place up.

Review 39:Swimming pool really wonderful. Lifeguards really good at rule enforcement especially for adult only hot tub & steam room.

Review 40:Controls for air conditioning and heat not identified at all. Had to have maintenane come and show us. Even so, no temperature markings at all. Our room quite a distance from hotel dining room.

Review 41:room and bed comfortable and hotel had dining option. hotel had pool and small water park, but pool closes 6 to 7 pm, when I wanted to go there. free wifi,

Review 42:Our room had old candies and crumbs on the floor when we arrived. It is an outdated hotel charging premium hotel prices. I don't care if you have a waterslide-get a decent pool!

Review 43:No fridge or microwave. Had to ask staff and pay extra to fetch mini-fridge brought up to room. View was from the 2nd floor and it was the top of the roof and an alleyway between buildings where staff came out to smoke and take breaks. My blind was pulled at all times. Loud , over excited children running up and down the halls.

Review 44:Comfy bed, close parking and an elevator.

Review 45:It was a very convenient location and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Free parking was conveniently located. The room was clean and comfortable

Review 46:The bed is so high, you need a ladder!!!

Review 47:Nice welcome from the staff. Easy parking. Comfortable and clean room. Good location in Kingston. Reasonable price. Easy check in and check out.

Review 48:Although check out was efficient, the young man made no effort in asking us about our stay. Isn't that just a common courtesy? He only acknowledged me when I approached the desk but no other conversation was had and zero amount of friendliness. Doesn't make you feel welcome or want to come back, but we likely will as that is my only negative experience.

Review 49:There is no continental breakfast option. The rooms could use a coat of paint. There were large chips in our walls but the mattresses were good and bathrooms well kept so upkeep is clearly a priority.

Review 50:The property is fairly central to the cities destinations. The indoor water park is open great hours and life guard attended.

Review 51:One negative. The coffee pot was not cleaned properly.

Review 52:Great place for family. Kids adored the waterpark. Unfotunate they had a situation that forced the closure if the main pool for the night.

Review 53:Place feels very dated and in need of a renovation. Bathroom was quite small. Saw one roach, but other than that the room was clean.

Review 54:Staff were very friendly and helpful, bed was comfortable, good wifi, decent price. Appears to have a lot of other facilities, though I didn't get a chance to use them.

Review 55:Bed was uncomfortable. Wifi was horrible.

Review 56:Great pool and splash area for kids. Great location. Friendly, helpful staff. Restaurant was nice and prices were comparable.

Review 57:The room was clean but very small and poorly appointed. The window faced onto a solid brick wall. Felt a bit like a cell.

Review 58:Location was handy for our purpose, price was lower than other nearby hotels

Review 59:The bathroom toilet was plugged and never worked right from the time we arrived. There was no bathroom fan. The reno of the bathroom was not well-done. The indoor water park was crowded and not enjoyable for adults but okay for kids. Some of the rules were not even followed. I question the cleanliness of the pool area. There was a lot of traffic and a train that went by. Cigarette smoke from smokers outside came in our window and we had to close it a few times which defeated the purpose of a smoke-free room. The Wifi would not work for us. The restaurant was expensive but the food was very good. My mom may have gotten food poisoning from her supper but we have no hard proof that was the cause.

Review 60:The food was good but pricey. The indoor water park was great for kids but it was crowded and loud at times. The staff did not always enforce their rules of the water park. The staff were all pretty friendly.

Review 61:The price and receiving a text before I arrived giving me the room number and a free upgrade to a larger room. The staff were professional and very pleasant.

Review 62:The room has broken furniture dark marks on the ceeling . I stayed for 2 nights and they had me as a no show for the first night and charged my credit card and I notified them I would be paying cash.we went for breakfast at resturant and when the order came was missing my breakfast because they waiting for fresh home fries waited 10 min and when my order arrived I had cold eggs and cold home fries and they charge you 2.75 for home fries totally not worth. Staff was helpful and professionals .

Review 63:We had a lot f difficulty at check in. We booked two rooms and were checked in to the same room twice. This resulted in having to reset our keys and take several trips to the front desk.

Review 64:The rooms were very large and comfortable. We had a few problems with the key cards not working and the staff were quick to get us into our room. Overall a great stay. Kingston was a great getaway

Review 65:That there was a little mix-up on where our room was.

Review 66:I'm glad my 12 yr. old son wasn't kicked out of the room, because I was 15 minutes late from a Parole Hearing.

Review 67:The wifi internet was extremely slow. For the cost of the room one would expect that breakfast be included especially with a full restaurant on location.

Review 68:I would highly recommend this hotel. Staff were very pleasant and there were three life guards on duty at all times. Great value for the accommodations provided!

Review 69:Breakfast leaves a bit to be desired.Instant eggs are poor at best and variety of foods offered could be improved.

Review 70:The staff were very helpful and friendly! Rooms were clean and quiet

Review 71:The chair in our room had the arm rests damaged from being jammed under the table. We had a difficult time removing it. We reported the damaged chair to the front desk & asked for a new one but we did not get one.

Review 72:Location, pool, bed.

Review 73:We booked through booking.com for one night, but then last minute we decided to head on our vacation early so we gave the hotel a call and they got us all set up for an extra night with no hassle what so ever! When booking we also said we would prefer a ground level room and when we called to change our reservation she confirmed that's what we wanted and then asked if anyone we were travelling with had allergies. She explained that the ground level rooms are often used for pet rooms and although they are double cleaned sometimes they can still bother a person with severe allergies.

Review 74:room was very small, two people could not walk around end of bed at the same time, kids running in hall and outside window screaming for 4 hours although front desk was notified. No fridge. way over priced will not stay here again

Review 75:staff were friendly

Review 76:We visited the pool area in the morning. The hot tubs were being worked on. The saunas were great. The waterslide was fine, but the pool was crazy busy! Couldn't get across it! Perhaps evening is the better time to go?

Review 77:Comfortable rooms, great people. They brought in a fridge since the room did not have one and we have a family member who requires it due to food issues.

Review 78:One Queen Bedroom is not worth $185. Bathroom is pinched, lots of space for a bigger bathroom. I could pay this amount elsewhere at a better hotel. Not the greatest sleep either. Wifi kept kicking me off, couldn't bother.

Review 79:We were put on the bottom floor by mistake. This floor is apparently for dog owners so we had barking yapping dogs at 6:30am everyday. We took too long to complain about out discomfort so we were only given a small discount. I guess we should be grateful for any discount. The free wifi did not work for my phone. The room was basic and the carpets were dirty(probably from all the dogs) it was definitely not worth $150 a night. However, if you are a dog owner and want to save money on a kennel this is a great place to stay.

Review 80:Our young kids liked the pool. Housekeeping and front desk staff were very nice.

Review 81:The restaurant was very expensive.

Review 82:Comfortable rooms, beds. Great location with lots of free parking. Staff was very friendly. Kids loved the pool area with all its extras. Nice and quiet at night.

Review 83:this time we were in the west wing, filled with very noisy unsupervised boys from hockey tournament. We had trouble even getting elevator due to kids going up down pushing all buttons. We heard doors slamming all night and at 8 am. there was alarms ringing. Will not be back, I have not been well and was in Kingston to visit a family member. I was even called to the desk saying my credit card was declined, she typed in the wrong #. Just a bad weekend

Review 84:I have stayed at this hotel a few times and have always been happy. That is why I have returned. It is clean, affordable, comfortable and nice staff.

Review 85:I was able to check in early online the day prior to my stay. I requested a couple of changes, including earlier check in. On my day of arrival they texted me by 11am saying my room was ready and they were able to upgrade my room as requested. Great service!

Review 86:Room next to us was noisy with people knocking to get in a lot after 11 pm. Hallways were somewhat noisy late at night and very early in am.

Review 87:Very clean, staff very friendly.

Review 88:It is not a water park, it is a pool slide and kid play area. No smoking area at all and many smokers..... there should be more accommodations

Review 89:Pleasant stay... what you would expect

Review 90:The wi fi wouldn't stay connected

Review 91:The pool what wonderful and the toilet broke in our room and the staff came and fixed it right away with extremely friendly service!!

Review 92:The sole purpose of renting my room was to relax with a glass of wine and a bath. The plug didn't work, when reported. Was offered no compensation or anything. At least the next guy will have a decent bath.

Review 93:The pool was the reason we went here, but they don't let kids under 10 in the hot tub and the pool was so cold we couldn't stay in it on the first day. Second day, the pool was warmer, but still not great. The slide also has a height restriction, which they didn't make obvious on the website.

Review 94:Front desk staff was great, and Silly Sally was a huge hit with the kids

Review 95:Wallpaper was peeling off of walls, there was garbage behind the bed, the deck area in the pool was dirty ie. Hair, bandaids dirt etc

Review 96:I love the pool and room set up was spacious and functional.

Review 97:The hallway in main building are so cold you need jacket so when you're soaking wet from the pool it is that much colder.

Review 98:My daughter enjoyed her breakfast at the restaurant. Her favourite parts were the slide and the pool. Everyone was very friendly. Strict guidelines in the pool area which at first seemed disappointing for my 8 year old who couldn't go in the hot tub but the rules were appreciated as the pool area began to populate. All in all a great experience. Will definitely return!

Review 99:We had a wonderful time and great experience. It was owr first family trip and were served with prestege. We went to the restaurant and had the Best service from Grace.. I can't say a bad thing about it at all. I will recommend to family and friends.

Review 100:Pools were cold, hallways were freezing, long walk through the halls and elevators to get to the pool area.

Review 101:Convenient location, water slide and pool for kids.

Review 102:We always stay at The Ambassador when we travel to Kingston. We always know what to expect and that is reassuring when you are away from home. Why would we stay anywhere else when we are so comfortable at The Ambassador. I have organized conferences at the Ambassador for my job and now I use it for my personal use as well.

Review 103:The water slide was not open during our stay. The slide is only open during the weekends and at a certain time. Of course the kids were unhappy, it would have been great for the kids if it were open. However they still enjoyed the pool.

Review 104:Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The kids loved the pool, we enjoyed the sauna, steam room and whirlpool. Our stay was for one night, we all felt welcomed and definitely will come back.

Review 105:Sorry dont read Chinese therefore can't complete survey..last time I checked we lived in CANADA. Hotel room not bad...however upon booking failed to mention that you dont recognise debut visa like visa why?? Its good enough for the banks and everyone else so because of that when we arrived to a very snobby girl at reception :( who demands $200 deposit because not TRUE visa...really !! We were only there for Bryan Adams that night and that was all my husband and I had to our name.. Besides paying cash for our dingy room (nothing like pics...be careful!!) we didn't eat till we got our deposit back, THE NEXT DAY!! I know people must follow policies but this info was not made clear to us. Truly ruined a night out of town with my husband..no apologies or empathy shown by staff..just rude. Only good thing steam room was good unfortunately no eucalyptus steamroom as indicated on brochure and on line..Honestly stay at holiday inn downtown for the sake of a few extra bucks its worth it. Its $20 from Ambassador to downtown then $20 back!!! Your saving money right there..so we will be giving them no business in future

Review 106:My only complaint was the dismissiveness of the two girls who checked us in, but the rest of the staff (including the cleaning ladies) were absolutely wonderful and very quick to help!

Review 107:Pretty much everything about the hotel exceeded my expectations except for the locations, but I knew that going in. The rooms were typical, but the bathrooms were much nicer than more hotels I've stayed in (including more expensive hotels)! The hotel had a gym that I used and it was a little drab, but definitely got the job done! I wish I had had more time to use the pool as it looked excellent as well!

Review 108:When we checked into room it was already unlocked and open. Tub faucet leaked on floor will it is on. Window did not lock. Ceiling had water damage over heat unit, and parts looked like it would fall off. Internet connection was hard to get signal and would keep going out.

Review 109:Price through bookings.com was reasonable .

Review 110:I wish the staff would give more info about things that may be happening there were some activities set up for family day as well as a movie playing later for kids but we missed it all because we had no idea, also no info about the restaurant in the Hoyle which would have been handy

Review 111:The hotel was great water slide and pool were great for our kids

Review 112:The beds were comfortable but needed different pillows. Coming out of the pool area to wait for the elevator was cold as one of the main doors is right there.

Review 113:The staff were very friendly. Housekeeping lady helped us to retrieve a forgotten item and explained their policy on things left behind. The lifeguards at the pool were always watching the kids. Very clean hotel and rooms.

Review 114:Small room, lack of seating area, small bathroom too close to bed - no fan in bathroom for shower, not enough towels. Put a hold of $180 on my credit card for 3 days when paid cash for room - when room was only $115+tax. Room keys were not activated upon arrival so had to lug everything back down. No fridge or microwave. Room had no view but to building and was quite loud in the late evening and early morning.

Review 115:Pool area was nice

Review 116:Rooms are in dis-repair. Foreign matter had not been cleaned off the rooms wall next to bed (Room 212). Also, there was a distinct odor of cigarette smoke lingering in our room. Not very good value for the cost of the rooms.

Review 117:The staff where awesome.

Review 118:The pool was very very cold ! While I understand that you need to have rules and regulations around a pool etc.. The rules here were Excessive !! Eg. Don't move the lounge chairs away from the wall !!! Really ?? Couldn't even bring a plastic cup with a drink in the pool area ! And constant patrol of staff watching your every move !! Very disappointed with all of this surrounding the "waterpark" they are so proud to advertise ! :(

Review 119:The rooms were very nice ! Very clean and comfortable.

Review 120:I would hope that next time there.would be no charge for our poodle, the maid did not even have to come in our room until we left and the poodle is quiet and does not shed or make any mess in the room..,we take her outside and clean up...she is in her kennel at time we go out....just a thought

Review 121:The room could use some touch ups on the walls. Paint was peeling. Lots of noise after midnight with talking and doors closing.

Review 122:Hot tub, room service and pool.

Review 123:We could hear put neighbour's tv through the wall, until 11:30. We have stayed there many times and this was a first.

Review 124:We love the pool, water slide and steam room. The hotel is close to everything, including great shopping and restaurants.

Review 125:I expected a fridge in our room, I thought that was a normal hotel custom item, I was wrong, I also hoped for a microwave, but was also wrong. Coffee was good !

Review 126:Staff were very helpfull! Rooms were very clean, and beds were comfortable.

Review 127:Pillows were hard; bathroom was very dark (walls painted brown, inadequate lighting); just one elevator to service four floors

Review 128:Room had all the same conveniences as some of the nicer hotels downtown, just not the same quality; heat lamp in bathroom was nice touch; hotel was fairly quiet considering it was sold out; room was clean and in good condition; mattress was fairly comfy

Review 129:The place was poorly laid out, we had to go outside to get to our room. There was no complimentary breakfast and the room was no more special than any we have had at cheaper hotels that do include breakfast. It did have a HD big screen but only SD cable.

Review 130:Location was what we wanted and the hotel was clean

Review 131:There seems to be little pride in the upkeep of the rooms. While not dirty, the general standard of repair was clearly low. Room service did not even replace the towels they removed when the room was made up. The noisy heating system made for a disruptive sleep and the slow elevators caused frustration. This was our first hotel room ever without even a single wall-hanging. Not sure if this is standard practice for the property or a one-time occurrence. I will look elsewhere next time in Kingston, even if it costs more $$.

Review 132:The value for money was apparent, and the conveniences of a restaurant and bar onsite were appreciated.

Review 133:I didn't like the fact that they couldn't use my debit visa as a visa and had to charge me 400 dollars on debit all because I don't have a real visa or MasterCard. I booked my room with it they should take it as a visa!
