Reviews for Sail Inn B&B, Stay & Sail

Review 1:Because we were there off season, we missed out on the included daily sail, but were given a certificate we can use or gift to someone else. The bed could have been more comfortable.

Review 2:The location was great, looking out to Lunenburg Harbor. The host was friendly, gave us some ideas for what to see in the area, and as we were the only guests, gave us our choice of what we wanted for breakfast.

Review 3:the breakfast was really nice but felt uncomfortable as the one staff lady stared at my daughter and I while we were eating breakfast. More privacy would have been appreciated.

Review 4:Location, attention to detail with the restoration, so beautifully completed. Incredible staff who went out of there way for us. Definitely will come again and recommended to friends.

Review 5:Well done on every level....instructions to access the Inn, tastefully restored room, clean spacious bathroom, delicious breakfast, great location, pleasant and curtious staff!!! Sorry to have missed the sail....hopefully next year!

Review 6:Lovely room (room 3 has a jacuzzi bath!), great view and really friendly and super helpful staff. Varied and locally-influenced breakfast, cooked to order - perfect. I missed the free sail season but was given a voucher for future use. Small kitchen facility in room, but the food options in Lunenburg are superb so it's handy to have but you may not need it.

Review 7:The location was great and the staff/owners were very accommodating. Great breakfast. Great view from our window. The free sail was well worth it.

Review 8:The room was perfect. The beds were comfie and the room was very clean. The breakfast was fabulous--delicious, and plentiful! The sailboat trip with Merrill was a highlight--educational and a ton of fun, helping raise the mizzin sail, and steering the Eastern Star. Loved everything about this B&B and our experience! It was my second trip to Lunenburg and second time staying there, and I'll be back!

Review 9:An extremely beautiful Inn! The staff were amazing. The room was beautiful overlooking the harbour of Lunenburg: the Bluenose II right in our line of sight! The bathroom was larger than our bedroom! And the breakfast was incredible.

Review 10:less than hospitable staff: lackluster breakfast (eggs and bacon); no daily room cleaning; no shampoo/conditioner provided. Parking inadequate. Office closes at 5 pm, so guests must check in by themselves.

Review 11:Good location in town center. Sail around harbor included in reservation.

Review 12:The staff was friendly and helpful. She made us a great breakfast and arranged our included 2 hour sail around the harbor which was wonderful. Room wass clean, spacious and had great histrical feel plus harbor view. Everything was great!

Review 13:Beautiful bkft...smoked salmon and pickled herring are staples in the town. I feel the bread was locally made, and hopefully local eggs etc. The sail at 11 and the opportunity to hop on another was great.

Review 14:There was NOTHING I didn't like..

Review 15:The Sail and Stay deal.. just can't be beat. Back out the normal cost of sailing for two..and the room and breakfast... are only fifty bucks a night...CAD, so USD under $40. So five stars plus plus plus for value. Lovely room, friendly staff and one of the best B&B breakfasts I've ever had for both variety quality and quantity. And that's not even accounting for the absolute charm and beauty of Lunenburg as a location. Book early so you don't miss out on this magnificent find of a property if you're heading to Nova Scotia.

Review 16:Parking behind inn works with 4 small cars, otherwise street parking a challenge.

Review 17:Located in center of town with a great view of the harbor and Bluenose II. Enjoyed the sail included with room a lot. Excellent breakfast. Spacious clean room and bath, and a kitchenette.

Review 18:What's not to like - it was great.

Review 19:Free sunset sail out past the Ovens (sea caves) was relaxed and fabulous. Room looked out over the harbor, one street back up the hill - great view! Convenient to restaurants and center of town. Breakfast was a lovely spread of smoked salmon and pickled herring, brie, fresh fruits and nuts, eggs and bacon cooked to order. Felt like personal guests of the sailing captain (tho we only saw him on the sail).

Review 20:Efficiently-run B&B in the center of the old town. Furnished with sturdy antiques, comfortable (4-poster!) bed, excellent breakfast. It was my home base while attending a week-long music festival.

Review 21:Nothing much really.

Review 22:The sailing cruise on the Eastern Star was amazing! The great thing is that if there are enough spots on other cruise times, inn guests can hop on several times. We did the sunset cruise and loved it. The breakfast was also very good and the staff were very friendly and cared that their guests had a good time in Lunenberg. The room was also very nice.

Review 23:Nothing

Review 24:Room and bed was fabulous. Loved the huge en suite barh wirh Jacuzzi and shower. Kitchenette too. Plus we got a free 2 hr ride on a beautiful sailboat.

Review 25:Had the best time in lunenburg, spacious rooms, great location, very helpful staff, quiet, walking distance to everything, great view from our room, excellent breakfast and fun sailboat ride included. I highly recommend it you won't be disappointed. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable, I will definitely return

Review 26:A lovely, convenient place to stay, with friendly & helpful staff. The one large breakfast table meant we got to know other guests. We loved the trip on the yacht - a special evening.

Review 27:The room was small and only had space for one chair.

Review 28:Loved the large bathroom with the double sinks and also the free sailing trip. Location was great right in the heart of Lunenburg.

Review 29:Only that the bedding was a little drab.

Review 30:Very informal relaxed atmosphere. Felt like eating breakfast in someone's home. Easy to make friends with other guests. The sail boat trip; a memorable experience. Phenomenal views!

Review 31:Best place to stay in Lunenburg. Friendly, helpful staff, beautiful rooms, great views just steps from the waterfront. Great breakfast. Free sail on a beautiful yacht! I would highly recommend this B&B.

Review 32:Nothing.

Review 33:Spacious room with harbour view Clean and well appointed. Excellent en suite with great shower. Breakfast was delicious; so much choice and guests well looked after. Two hour sailing trip included in rate.

Review 34:Might be street noisy when the summer holiday season kicks in

Review 35:The room had so much character and was well appointed. Breakfast was outstanding Sorry we didn't go sailing

Review 36:All of it including the sailing day. Breakfast was superb. A fantastic B & B and would definitely stay there again. Staff very friendly and helpful, superior rooms and building has a great vibe.

Review 37:If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, if you want to be able to enjoy a community that is small but offers all the amenities you need, and if you want to feel close to the water and nature, this is a wonderful community to visit, and your experience at this cozy bed and breakfast will only enhance the experience!! It is centrally located, and our hostess Angie was super! Welcoming and informative, and the gal that offered a great breakfast with so many options. You just can not help yourself while staying here but to relax and enjoy!! The opportunity to go out on the schooner as a non-paying guest of the Sail Inn was a real bonus, and a treat!

Review 38:Steep stairs to room

Review 39:Plenty of communication with hosts as to arrival times and arrangememnts beforehand. Beautiful views over harbour and delicious breakfast.

Review 40:We love this little gem in the heart of Lunenburg. We've returned many times, even celebrated a family reunion there with all our kids from all over Canada. The location is perfect, the room comfort is wonderful, so is the staff, and a fab few out to sea. We shall return!

Review 41:This B&B is a little treasure box in a perfect location Lunenburg downtown. All rooms are spacious (this is our third stay and we did enjoy them all) with huge bathrooms and a kitchenette. Every room has a gorgeous view on to the waterfront, this time round the Blue Nose was moored right in front of our window. We shall return!

Review 42:Travelled to Lunenburg for business, my stay at the Sail Inn was exceptional!! The room was fantastic, could look out bedroom window and see harbour and Bluenose. The room was spacious and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic and selection was even better. This is a must stay if you are travelling to Lunenburg. Hope to go back in the summer and take advantage of free boat sails.

Review 43:The wooden floor in the room had been varnished, and was extremely slick. Also, the large tiled step up to the tub/shower combination was slick and difficult for an older person to navigate when climbing out of the tub.

Review 44:The location was great in the town of Lunenburg, NS. Great view of the harbor in the early morning hours. Picture taking was fabulous. Older building that had been remodeled. Beds were comfortable and had updated bathroom facilities. Staff was great, and were acknowledgeable about restaurants in the area. Breakfast was wonderful. It was too late in the season to sail on their sailboat, but gave us a certificate to use at a later date. We would stay here again. We walked around the downtown area of Lunenburg; however, most of the shops were closed for the season.

Review 45:Had trouble sleeping because of the intermittent fog horn, but I am sure it is a comforting sound to the residents, just like the train horn in my home town!!!

Review 46:Liked the friendly staff, wonderful breakfast in the morning, not just yogurt, bacon and eggs!!! Great variety of breakfast choices!

Review 47:The shade was broken in the bathroom

Review 48:Sailing trip was wonderful, it was a beautiful day and the tour was so interesting and informative. The bed was so comfortable too. The staff was so friendly.

Review 49:We enjoyed the great staff , attention to detail and location as well as the sail included and the free breakfast in the morning! The coffee maker and hairdryer were a bonus and the bigger than kingsize bed was amazing! I will return again :)

Review 50:We loved the location of the B and B, right off of the water. The room was amazing, with the four poster bed, rustic wood decorations, and the amazing enormous bathroom. Both the Tub and rainfall shower were amazing after the sail. The sail boat trip was an amazing added bonus! We were able to get onto the evening sail, and we loved every minute of it.

Review 51:The off-road parking on-site is a bit scary and tight! (but there is cheap all day parking very nearby)

Review 52:The traditional style of the house felt authentic but also modern and fresh. The old style of the beds, timber floors, window shutters and spacious bathroom were great. There was lots of choice for breakfast - very tasty and well presented. The staff are all very friendly and it felt like being a guest at home. The free sailing trip is also a really lovely addition to a stay here.

Review 53:The car park is quite small and up a steep entrance way but parking on the street isn't expensive and even free on nearby roads.

Review 54:The included trip on the owner's sail boat. The ability to come and go whenever we wanted to due the the coded locks on the outer doors.

Review 55:We were on the top floor and lugging suitcases up the stairs was awkward, but this was a very minor problem.

Review 56:An interesting inn with character and charm. A wonderful bonus was the sunset sail. The breakfast was a good buffet with something for all tastes.

Review 57:We had a beautiful room on the main floor which overlooked the water and the Bluenose II. The room had everything we could have wanted, the breakfast was delicious and the ride on the Eastern Star was a highlight for me. Wonderful spot!

Review 58:The Sail Inn was absolutely one of the best B&Bs I have ever stayed in. A large room (clean, airy, high ceilings), large en suite bathroom (with tub), fully functional kitchenette, free wifi - all at a reasonable price. PLUS a complimentary 1.5- 2hr sail on the owner's sail boat (although they usually have the Inn's guests on the 11 AM sail, they allowed us to take the sunset sail because they had some extra room). Super friendly staff (including the owner who spoke to us about the history of the inn & sailboat) and excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone traveling through Lunenberg!

Review 59:Beautiful room with a view of the harbour and a luxurious shower and jacuzzi tub. Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely worth the value paid, especially because of the free delicious breakfast and sailboat ride. Would stay again and recommend to anyone travelling here.

Review 60:Only 2 parking spots, but it's worth dealing with.

Review 61:Place was awesome, nice and quiet, cool bathroom, and nice staff. If I go back, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Review 62:Historic Home with modern renovated elements where appropriate, while still maintaining it's appeal and charm. The bathroom in our room was HUGE, and the room even had a kitchenette. Breakfast was superb and had local/culture aspects to it. Great find!

Review 63:I loved the free charter on the Eastern star. I breakfast was my favorite from our three week trip. The breakfast setting was unique as we got to eat with the staff and ask questions about things to do. The bathroom was phenomenal with jacuzzi tub and fancy shower. Great view of the harbor.

Review 64:Ally to the back entrance at night was not inviting. It needs better lighting. Perhaps the after hour code should be implemented for the front door.

Review 65:Sailing was a wonderful experience. Thank you.

Review 66:We were pleased with every aspect of our stay. No complaints.

Review 67:The room was spacious and comfortable, and romantic. The building itself has been marvelously restored. The breakfasts are generous and made to order. The staff super-friendly. The sailing trip included with the ride was wonderful. The location perfect.

Review 68:We loved the location and the accommodations. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. We were unable to take advantage of the sail due to weather, but had a very nice stay.

Review 69:The pillowcases were too short for the pillows so that made sleeping on the pillow uncomfortable. It was also one of only two places we stayed in over a six week period that did not iron the linens so the bed didn't look as fresh and crisp as the other places. I also hadn't received the email that left me know that no one would be there to welcome us as we arrived after hours so we were a bit surprised and disappointed when we arrived that there was no one to greet us as this was our first B & B on our trip. I missed having a mirror that was easy to put make-up on as without glasses, the mirror in the bathroom was too far away.

Review 70:Location was excellent as we were on a main street which at night is totally quiet. From the window you have a beautiful view of the harbor in Lunenburg which is stunning. I loved having smoked salmon on the menu for breakfast. We also really enjoyed the sailing trip that was included in our trip. There were also lots of fabulous restaurants in Lunenburg. It was probably one of the top places in six weeks in the Maritimes for high quality food. I also loved the big bathtub.

Review 71:Very nice rooms and very clean! Maximum Fun on the nice sailing boat! Excellent Breakfast offer.During our ten day trip from Halifax to Toronto this was the Best.Regards from Germany.

Review 72:We loved our stay in this absolutely wonderful B&B facility. The heritage house, the room with heirloom furniture and beautiful restored wood floors, the really special breakfast with ingredients sourced locally, the most wonderful 2-hour sailboat excursion all added up to a treasured and unforgettable experience. We hope to be able to be back for another treat another time.

Review 73:nothing!

Review 74:room was newly renovated, very clean, beautiful timber flooring, complimentary sailing trip, delicious breakfast, huge bathroom with whirlpool

Review 75:A small B&B, no having to deal with wedding parties! Breakfasts were excellent. The owners also own the sailboat which gives tours of the bay, a complimentary sail is included

Review 76:We were on the third floor and the stairs are very narrow. A bit of a challenge for a couple of "seniors". I'm sure staff would have helped, but none were around.

Review 77:The sunset sail was a wonderful bonus to a very comfortable and well located B&B. Staff were wonderful.

Review 78:Location is great. The 2 hour sailboat ride was lovely and a nice added bonus. Breakfast was very good. Our room (#1) was quite large, and very bright. We enjoyed our stay.

Review 79:parking at inn was a little difficult; it's on a steep slope, only room for three cars and parking on the street is hard to find.

Review 80:quaint, old house that has been wonderfully restored, overlooking bay, quiet room, great big bathroom, good wifi and a great breakfast...and a sail boat ride at sunset...

Review 81:We loved everything about our room (although we'd hoped for a jacuzzi, haha). It was so relaxing and you couldn't hear anyone else in the place, though there were two other couples staying there at the time. Breakfast was delicious and very filling. The sail was the topping on the cake.

Review 82:I loved the charm of the place. The warm and friendly staff made you feel at home immediately. The large spacious room had a wonderful view of the harbour. My husband and I can't wait to go back and stay for longer next time.

Review 83:Not enough parking space. I had to pay $1/min. for making a call to the stuff to know how to get our room etc by my cell-phone.

Review 84:Free Sailing, Very Good Breakfast, Nice Stuffs, Clean room

Review 85:Would like to have lingered longer over breakfast....all a bit quick!
