Reviews for Lunenburg Arms Hotel

Review 1:The *only* thing this place lacks is a decent breakfast. The continental option (free with a night's stay) is just really unimpressive, and I'm pretty easily impressed. It was just store-bought bagels, cereal, fruit and yogurt. They could really step it up by having locally-sourced baked goods, some pastries other than bread, locally-sourced granola, etc. And the coffee was bad, bad bad, when they have delicious coffee options nearby! If you're staying there, do everybody a favour and go out for breakfast at one of the many diners and cafes within spitting distance.

Review 2:I love this place. The spa downstairs, the view from (most of) the rooms, the comfy bed, the look and feel of the place, and the location is second to none.

Review 3:U can hear your neighbors all around you. Difficult to sleep despite comfortable accommodations. Too bad!

Review 4:Great location Room lovely, spacious and clean. Bed very comfortable. Great location. Breakfast continental, nothing special but did the trick.

Review 5:At checkout the desk attendant was working in the breakfast room and we had to search her out. Not a big deal.

Review 6:Location was great-very close to the waterfront. Ample parking right across the street. Nice breakfast.

Review 7:Some of the decor is a little dated, the TV was very small for the room. The continental b'fast was limited although we did arrive in the last 30 minutes. The outside of the building could use some work.

Review 8:The view from our room was very nice, the bed was comfortable and the location and parking were very convenient. Also everything was very clean.

Review 9:The front desk manager, Ted, was awesome to deal with. Unfortunately, I made an error in the date of our stay and he was extremely helpful and accommodating in getting us a room. Not only did he give us one of the best rooms in the place, he also gave it to us at the price I was quoted online. The room we had was AWESOME!!! I highly recommend this place.

Review 10:The restaurant was closed because a staff member was getting married. While I appreciate that they let the staff have the evening to attend, it did cause an inconvenience for guests looking forward to eating there.

Review 11:Property is beautiful, close to all amentities

Review 12:Very disappointing to find only cold hardboiled eggs. Even at laquinta you hot eggs, waffles or pancakes and sausages and bacon. No excuse for this in such a high class place. I will not recommed or return because of this.

Review 13:Bed was perhaps a tad soft for our preferences, but wasn't uncomfortable.

Review 14:Spacious room, pack n' play provided for our baby, close proximity to everything in Lunenburg's old town. Breakfast not bad for Continental breakfast.

Review 15:My room (310) had a locked door as if it was connected to another room. In the other room was a young couple who were loud and rowdy, swearing a lot (I could hear every word) and having sex at 3 am. I would recommend they not put young, partying couples in either of these rooms in the future. I didn't get much sleep.

Review 16:Beautiful location. Very clean, friendly helpful staff and great breakfast included.

Review 17:The room was sold as having a view - the 'view' was the car park and unglamourous backs of buildings on the next block. The room was small with hardly any storage facilities.

Review 18:The location

Review 19:Room was small and hot. A/c option was very noisy. Small bed. Didn't get much sleep. Breakfast was poor

Review 20:Location was good, free parking. Free wifi, once it was fixed. Good meal in restaurant, which is run separately from hotel

Review 21:uncomfortable pillows

Review 22:Old world charm: high ceilings, wood floors, sitting room next to bed area, big spacious bath, lots of tall windows lining the street. Just a few moments away from the ocean front, shops, and fun eateries. The Fish Shack had the most ginormous fish filets on the planet (only order one!), but they were pretty greasy. The Salt Shaker was close and eclectic with good food and cold beer. Get the pound and a pint mussel special for $14.50. The chowder was also great.

Review 23:The AC is very loud and the machine is situated such that it blows right on you when in bed. We found it very hard to regulate as well. It was either too cold or too warm. The rooms could use some updating as well. The bathroom faucets were coming off and the towels were stained.

Review 24:Hotel was conveniently located and included a very basic continental breakfast. Staff were friendly. Overall it was okay and we would stay here again but in a bigger room. The standard rooms are very small.

Review 25:I was disappointed that I could not use the hot tub ( closed for repair) and one day they closed early and I could not use the steam shower.

Review 26:Friendly, helpful service

Review 27:Nothing that we didn't like!

Review 28:The room was perfect - great view and very welcoming. Ted at the front desk was welcoming and helpful. The restaurant staff and food were great too.!

Review 29:Our Booking.com booking said 'View' well it was if you count the car park and rear of other properties as a view. Any room with a window has a 'view'. Receptionist not particularlu helpful when we queried it, but paid $10 pn upgrade and had a lovely room.

Review 30:Central location to the town and great view from the upgraded room we had to pay for

Review 31:Breakfast could have been more imaginative perhaps - more choice, fresh fruit for cereal. Could have been due to lack of available supplies due to huge snow fall during stay.

Review 32:Location of Hotel in central Lunenburg. Staff very good. Room cleaning excellent ++

Review 33:The hot tub and spa were not available to us, and that is why we chose this location. These limitations in the facilities should be posted to customers.

Review 34:The view of the port from our room was very relaxing. The restaurant had excellent food.

Review 35:My stay was to short , wish I could been there longer.

Review 36:Great location and very nice comfortable rooms. Very clean, this place is much better than most in the area that I experienced.

Review 37:Small room with just very little storage area. Especially with little child. But manageable for three nights.

Review 38:Great location, clean and nice room, friendly staff.

Review 39:No view and the bank next door is under renovation and work started pretty early.

Review 40:location, the room had been recently redone I think so was nice and fresh

Review 41:7.30am building site noise. compressor at 8am. extremely small room for $160 per night!! renovations at the hotel and a noisy building project next door. our view from the room: a builders toilet and a shipping container. we requested a change of room after finding out that our room was next to a terrible building site but the receptionist wanted more money even though the hotel was not full. all up very disappointing. will never be back.

Review 42:en suite was cute. you will have to turn the taps anti clockwise to get the water to flow. good for nostalgia - the tv is the old model, not the modern flat type. the imitation floor boards make a lovely creeking sound with every step. it is entertaining. toilet roll holder is positioned better than in most hotels. what else do i like? the fact that the front entrance is covered in builders cladding and you had to find a way in via a side door past the builders' equipment and truck. what else did we like? the fact that we do not have to go back there!

Review 43:Looks like everyone in Lunenburg believe they are some sort of Venice,Sevilla or Nice, according to prices they charge espdcially when out ofseason. Wake up people, this village is nice with the coloured houses, yes is unesco, but is nowhere close! Nova Scotia has much better placeswhich are not tourist traps, and with much friendlier folks.

Review 44:Only a continental breakfast that was very 'thin'. No warning that the dining room was closed. The decor of the dining room is also somewhat depressing.

Review 45:The bedroom and its view. Excellent wifi. The front desk was cheerful and helpful

Review 46:We had booked the Executive Suite with the spa bath & when we got to the room there was a notice on the edge of the bath that it was out of order. They should have told us that when checking in at least & given a discount on the room but none was given.

Review 47:Staff was very friendly & helpful & even though renovations were ongoing was very clean & orderly. Our room, the Executive, was very spacious & comfortable.

Review 48:No complaints but it should be noted that once you leave the town proper, everything is further away than expected (LOTS of driving) and that apparently there is a 'season' and our stay was at the end of it - we found several places already closed.

Review 49:Excellent location - very easy walk to most everything we wanted to see in town and very close to several fantastic places to eat. The hotel was a wonderful combination of old world charm and modern amenities. Our (town view) room was larger than expected and the bed was great!

Review 50:The breakfast was only continental - no mention of this on website. It had a very limited offering. Ok if you want basic cereals, fruit yoghurt and boiled eggs. There was no muesli, no plain yoghurt, no cheese or ham etc. and no staff around to replenish tepid water. It would cost very little to improve the service with a more imaginative buying policy.

Review 51:location and rooms.

Review 52:The mowing! Really? 8 am ? Did it ever occur to them that people in a HOTEL would actually be sleeping in their HOTEL rooms?

Review 53:We loved this place until our morning to sleep in was ruined by 8 am mowing right under our window. Room was small but lovely and front desk staff very pleasant and helpful.

Review 54:I think it was a bit overpriced.

Review 55:The room was large, beautifully furnished and had a panoramic view of Lunenburg Harbour. Enjoyed the Continental breakfast.

Review 56:No restaurant in the hotel for evening meals.

Review 57:A very nice older well kept up hotel. The room was clean with a very comfortable bed and clean bathroom plus a TV. The staff was very courteous and very helpful. The location was near the waterfront and its excellent restaurants, shops and marine museums.

Review 58:Advertised as room with a view. Paid extra but really the view was of the street. Nothing to pay for.

Review 59:Upscale ambiance and comfort without the big price tag. Location is in the quaint historic downtown. We wanted twin beds and got them.

Review 60:Had a city view but booked late and Hotel doesn't have much control over that. Couldn't get on the Wi-Fi but did not ask for assistance from staff. Just wasn't that important.

Review 61:Beautiful furnishings. Location to harbour & shopping.

Review 62:During our stay there was a hurricane. there was a power outage and none of the emergency exit lights in the hallway of every floor were working as well the safety feature of locked doors on every floor were non operational. When I addressed this with the owner he said that the back far stair well had lights however there was no way to see where you were going in order to get to the back "emergency" stairwell. Staff defended the situation by stating that 3 months prior during a fire inspection the emergency lights, emergency exit signs and doors were working to pass the fire inspection. In an old wooden building these features should be attended to regularly. With 3 large transformers in front of the hotel that could have spark and set off an unthinkable chain of events, I felt extremely compromised and stayed in the hotel lobby passed mid-night.

Review 63:Our room was small compared to a typical chain hotel or B&B. Restaurant was closed during our stay.

Review 64:Good location and helpful staff. Modern and clean rooms.

Review 65:Would like to of had 2 comfortable chairs in room to relax after day of walking.

Review 66:Loved the town and hotel location was perfect. We could walk to everything.

Review 67:Beds were a little too soft as my husband has back trouble and had to sleep for a few hours in the chair to cope with the pain.

Review 68:Loved the location and hospitality of staff. Slightly early check-in was not a problem. Bathrooms were top notch - obviously a lot of renos done as we knew the building was rather old.

Review 69:It was very cozy and in a great location. The food was nice and our service for dinner was excellent.

Review 70:The convenient location.

Review 71:Very central, easy parking across the road and to local sights. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast. Good bed.

Review 72:The location and view were spectacular!

Review 73:Room was a lot smaller than I expected from photos

Review 74:Fantastic service, great location, beautiful surroundings.

Review 75:Enjoyed the spa. Room was nice.

Review 76:We found the hotel was kept very hot which made it uncomfortable tosleep

Review 77:Staff helpful and friendly.

Review 78:Convenient location

Review 79:Location was fabulous. View from room beautiful over the harbour. Room was comfortable.

Review 80:I booked the room several months in advance and was given a room with a view of the parking lot - not the bay - for two nights!

Review 81:The view over the harbour from our room was magnificent. The room itself with a comfortable sitting area was great for just observing the view.

Review 82:fairly pricey Breakfast plastic wrapped, strictly muffin/bread not much else.

Review 83:room and view are really lovely good location

Review 84:Nothing

Review 85:One room good size, second small.

Review 86:Rooms were small but comfortable Good staff

Review 102:Beautiful view of the harbor

Review 103:Closing wood window shades.

Review 104:Near everything

Review 105:Lots of charm, nice blend of old and new.

Review 106:Convenience of access to resources. Two entrances appreciated, parking facilitated when obvious positions filled.

Review 107:Location was central for walking this hilly town

Review 108:The only negative was the AC in our room; really noisy and directly pointed at the head of the bed.

Review 109:Great location in a great town!

Review 110:Location, the only real hotel in town, nice restaurant and bar

Review 111:There are was no single thing we liked best. The entire stay was wonderful!

Review 113:Great restaurant and location. Glad there was an elevator. Very clean.

Review 114:The hotel was nicely updated and in a good location.

Review 115:The fact that we checked in at 9PM, the restaurant was closed, but the chef and waiter stayed late and made a beautiful dinner for us!

Review 116:the view from the room was lovely.

Review 117:lots of local businesses and attractions were closed for the season
