Reviews for Confederation Place Hotel
Review 1:Pillows were solid, but if that's your style then I guess you should be fine. Had to call front desk to locate thermostat. Got charged for a movie I didn't watch, the tv interface was outdated. And two days later I'm still awaiting my deposit back.
Review 2:The view was totally awesome
Review 3:Value for money with good attitude and service. They allowed for a late checkout up to 1pm free of charge. Good location in downtown Kingston by the City hall and waterfront.
Review 4:I am just being picky here but if they could change their breakfast items daily would be wonderful. The breakfast was pretty good the first day, but having the exact same items the second day got me sick pretty quick.
Review 5:The room is big and the view from the window is amazing.
Review 6:Carpets dirty and need to be replaced. Empty beer can beside the bed.Front desk staff spend much of their time away from the front desk.
Review 7:Great location right downtown waterfront. Got a good discount online.
Review 8:no indoor swimming pool
Review 9:The location downtown could not be beat; shops nearby;the harbour and its amenities also close;university within walking distance.
Review 10:Poor signage for parking
Review 11:When I pulled up to the hotel it appeared to be quite old and a bit confusing as to where to park. Once inside though, I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel and my room were very clean in all aspects. Staff are wonderful!
Review 12:The room exceeded our expectations. Clean comfortable, had everything. The breakfast was great too (continental style). I like that the hotel accepts pets, although we don't have one. Front staff are quick and knowledgeable.
Review 13:parking at $ 15 per day is excessive
Review 14:i had read reviews that were negative and i was pleasantly surprised - the building is older and dated but clean and comfortable with some upgrading done - and the price was very good
Review 15:No complaints...
Review 16:Friendly, informative and efficient staff. Very close to outstanding restaurants. Beautiful view of the lake and clean comfortable rooms.
Review 17:Wish we could have checked out a little later than 11am -- since we had to attend our daughter's convocation, which ended @ 12 noon, we asked if we could check out after that, instead of before we headed out @ 8am. But we were told we had to be out of the room before we headed out, so we had a bit of a rush not only to get ready for the convocation, but also to have everything packed and put into our vehicle before we left. But at least we were allowed to leave our car in the garage till we got back.
Review 18:The location -- close to downtown and within walking distance of Queen's University. Complimentary continental breakfast -- more selection than expected. Free wifi.
Review 19:How you have to pay extra for parking (should be included), and how there were jeans under our bed that were not ours. The rooms I did not find overly fantastic for what you pay,
Review 20:I liked the front desk staff, they were extremely friendly, and curtious
Review 21:Room was not clean, poor lighting and lots of noise from traffic (the price you pay for being close to everything), continental breakfast very poor quality food
Review 22:Good location, close to everything
Review 23:The perfect location for those embarking on a cruise; our room overlooked the dock. We had a problem-my husband left his hat in a museum just before we left on the cruise-staff arranged its return and it was awaiting us a week later.
Review 24:Three things: 1) There was a half-empty pot of cold coffee in the room when we checked in; 2) Record-setting stiff/scratchy bath towels; 3) Room poorly sound-proofed, so we could hear next-door and floor-above neighbors.
Review 25:Exceptional location, ample room, adequate continental breakfast.
Review 26:The hotel is tired. In need of a general overhaul. Breakfast continental Canadian style.
Review 27:In the middle of town close to everything from artisan shops to fab restaurants. Staff fab. Did whatever they could.
Review 28:Bathroom needed updating. I could not get the shower to work and then when I did it took some time to get the temperature of the water right. The pillows on the beds were too hard, all of them. Most uncomfortable sleep.
Review 29:The Location on the water was lovely, although we didn't have a water view. There was a friendly, courteous staff.
Review 30:Parking is somewhat expensive.
Review 31:Overall very good hotel - location is perfect, rooms are clean, comfortable and quite spacious. Breakfast was included into rate and of good quality. Staff is friendly.
Review 32:Room was too hot even with ac and window open. Towels were stained. Cleaning staff woke us up at 9am when checkout was at 11. Front desk didn't ask how everything was???,
Review 33:Hot tub and location
Review 34:Nothing much, but if I really had to complain, it would be the breakfast. There weren't much options but muffins, breads-butter-jams, and cereals. I was surprised not to find fried/scrambled egg on the menu. There were boiled eggs, but that doesn't really cut it.
Review 35:The staffs were really friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The place is located by the lakeshore and close to all major attractions.
Review 36:Lack of electrical outlets in room Lack of tub liner and grab bars - dangerous!!! Weak wi-fi Lack of adequate free parking
Review 37:Great location Extremely comfy beds Good breakfast Quiet
Review 38:They gave us a room that the carpets had just been washed and were still wet. (They did give us another room at a reduced rate)
Review 39:The staff was very accommodating and it's just a few steps from great restaurants and shops.
Review 40:Reception staff were very casual and unenthusiastic. The breakfast was very poor quality although the staff in the restaurant were lovely.
Review 41:The location was excellent for going on the boat trips and walking in the town.
Review 42:Disappointed that it was cheaper to book yourself than it,was through bookings.com by 10.00. Next time I will check that out first, just assumed that I would get a better deal but that wasn't the case. Very disappointed with that discovery.
Review 43:The location and the continental breakfast was fairly decent.
Review 44:Front desk could be more friendly and open. Breakfast fruit salad was off.
Review 45:Location by Lake Ontario, hot tub. Breakfast croissants were fantastic and hard boiled eggs a good touch.
Review 46:Another guest yelled at me to get my dog out of the hotel because his wife is afraid of dogs. Not the hotel's fault but it soured the experience.
Review 47:Great location and very pet friendly.
Review 48:The bed and pillow are not comfortable. The bathtub was clogged, really hard to take a shower when the bathtub fills up. The shower was leaking water everywhere flooding the bathroom.
Review 49:Location is great.
Review 50:bathtub wouldn't drain while showering, too many stains on room carpet, hot tub closed at 9pm on a Friday night! should have stayed open till at least 11pm on a Friday. breakfast hardboiled egg was cold, waffles would be nice with scambled eggs and sausage.
Review 51:location was great, easy access to everything. Breakfast dining room was nice to sit in
Review 52:The room was surprisingly large. It was clean and comfortable. The only thing I didn't like about the room was there was no mirror in the main room so I had to wait for my hubby to finish in the shower before doing my hair and make up. The location was perfect - we were there for a wedding on one of the thousand islands cruise ships, and the dock was directly behind the hotel. (practically the same parking lot) Also, breakfast was good - it was a continental breakfast, but there was fresh fruit, home made muffins, croissants, several types of bread, cereal, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee, tea.... very nice.
Review 53:Not your fault, I missed your breakfast as I had to be at the train station by 7:30 AM.
Review 54:The closeness to the boat docks for departing canal cruises. The rest was comfortable, except too full pillows, hard.
Review 55:The parking was an additional 20 dollars, which I found a bit expensive. It was not possible to open the windows, which was a shame given the nice view we had and the comfortable temperature outside.
Review 56:Central location in Kingston, and right on the water. Standard, comfortable rooms with all that you would expect - no frills. Nice breakfast, wasn't expecting it at this price. Parking inside the hotel, but no elevator from lower parking level.
Review 57:When I first arrived I approached the desk and a young woman was on the phone, she didn't even look up and acknowledge my presence she continued talking for what seemed like ages while I stood there waiting to find out where to park hoping I didn't get a ticket out front where I'd left my car. I stood there for at least 5 minutes and when she finally spoke to me she had no knowledge of where I could park other than their lot which is a wopping 20 a night!! Another employee finally came to the desk and then she just turned to them and said "can you deal with this I have to do something". The second employee was nice and helpful, but at this point im already pissed off. The next morning at dawn I'm woken up by the sun! The curtains in my room weren't long enough for the length of the window so I ended up having to sleep with a tshirt over my head. I finally get back to sleep I'm woken up by the cleaning service who tried to get into my room. A loud bang of the door trying to be opened but catching the latch I'd put across. I said " This room is occupied" I had trouble getting back to sleep too bc I'm wearing a shirt on over my eyes and now it's twice I've been woken up. I finally fall asleep when she comes back again at 10am and does the same thing!!! Wakes me up again!! I got no sleep bc of that and was unable to drive back to Toronto as planned. I ended up having to go to my friends and sleep for a few hours before getting on the road. It definitely screwed up my plans that day as I have a small child I was suppose to get back to in the early afternoon. Was not happy at all. I got about 4 hours sleep bc of those things.
Review 58:Location was great, view of the lake was outstanding.
Review 59:old carpets / television / parking across the street when the parking garage was full. $ 20.00 per day parking/ $ 15.00 day for a very small quiet dog
Review 60:Location and waterview
Review 61:The parking was limited with a very low clearing that didn't fit high cars and parking on the street is tricky
Review 62:The friendliness of the staff great location beautiful view
Review 63:the hotel is by the ticket booth of the thousand of islands cruiser, and also by the lake of Ontario.the breakfast is very good and the staff of hotel is very nice.i recommend it to you .
Review 64:Don't think air conditioning was working...tub plugged and not repaired..told cleaning lady..carpet very dirty and elevator floor needed a good vacuum job..
Review 65:Location excellent..
Review 66:Rooms were dated, especially the bathroom. The beds were uncomfortable and the air conditioning unit too noisy.
Review 67:The location of the property was excellent as were the staff.
Review 68:The bathroom: looks dirty, bathtub needs new coat of paint. The person who cleans the room did a poor job. The bedspreads should be removed.
Review 69:Very good location
Review 70:The breakfast was mediocre and the staff in the breakfast did not seem like they wanted to be there.
Review 71:the desk staff was very willing to store our two bicycles over night.
Review 72:room and hotel generally looks old and need a fresh paint Parking is limited and expensive room is smelly the bed and pillows were awful I had a back pain for the whole day no room service. if you have a child stroller prepare to carry it in and out as there is no accessibility ramp
Review 73:location is central and neat to city centre and the marina Breakfast is not luxurious but was good and sufficient vending machines
Review 74:Noise - could hear everything happening in the other rooms e.g. Tv till midnight and ac working. Very basic and dated hotel.
Review 75:Location - perfect, service very good, breakfast nice.
Review 76:Elevators slow and decrepit. Air conditioning room units noisy and difficult to adjust. WiFi intermittent. So called breakfast, poor to inedible.
Review 77:Location.
Review 78:Breakfast was good on the first day but they didn't refill some of the menu on the second day, so I was a bit disappointed.
Review 79:Nice lake view, microwave and fridge in the room, friendly staff, great location.
Review 80:Only thing both my daughter and I found was that the pillows were overstuffed and too firm. Lots of them though.
Review 81:Best location in town! We walked everywhere. Hotel is clean rooms are large staff were very helpful and accommodating.
Review 82:The breakfast experience was awful, we were down in plenty of time only to find there wasn't much food left. The staff begrudgingly went off to get more croissants and came back with 6 which all disappeared in seconds, others asked several times for more before another 6 appeared. There was a similar story for the other dishes and coffee!
Review 83:The staff were brilliant sorting us out with a river side view.
Review 84:The pool was fun and the hot tub. Would be great to have showers available beside the pool.
Review 85:The location was great and being able to leave our car parked after we had checked out was really nice. Front rest people were very nice and accommodating
Review 86:Wifi was very slow in bedrooms, and took ages to load up, sometimes not working at all. Shower was good, but plug hole did not drain so ended upstanding in 6 inches of water, not nice. Air conditioning unit extremely loud
Review 87:Location was excellent, nearest hotel for trolley bus and cruises, close to shopping, pubs, restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful. View from lakeside room was beautiful. Bed was comfy.
Review 88:we loved the location, so much to do with out moving the ar whicj was so nice, the breakfast was lovely, i feel someupgrating on pool and sana area could happen, but great time from all,
Review 89:The bed was extremely uncomfortable, air conditioning very noisy, amenities few, no hand towels, one pkg of decaffinated coffee only in the room, no regular, only soap & shampoo,no lotion as in most hotels. Breakfast was stated as included but it did not specify it was only a continental breakfast.
Review 90:Very little ,other than the fact we were able to park in the hotel garage.
Review 91:They will not assure any underground parking, which mattered to me because I had a valuable classic car in town for a show. Front door lacks automatic opener so awkward with suitcases. Luggage trolleys are kept in basement, not lobby. TV controls unworkable at first, and substitute remote was okay but not user friendly.
Review 92:Good location, except parking. Great view.
Review 93:-Breakfast had very little selection and hard boiled eggs were served cold -Wifi signal was weak from the 4th floor -No parking included
Review 94:Above average staff. Very clean room and did not wake up stuffed up as I usually do when staying in rooms with carpet. I would stay here again
Review 95:It was an extremely hot weekend, the elevator and hallways were like saunas! Our particular room had issues with outlets not working with our electrical devices, shower didn't drain, we both had showers with water around our ankles and no mirror to assist with getting ready except for the bathroom and we found a bug in our bed, although fortunately, not a bed bug!
Review 96:Location, location, location! PERFECT! staff was so friendly and helpful with anything we needed. Continental breakfast was ok too, cereal, toast, fruit, juice, tea & coffee... Enough to get you started.
Review 97:The restaurant was very dull as far as paint and decor. Not a place you would like to sit and enjoy a coffee. There was total silence in the room and people were whispering with the the other people at their table. There should have been music as there were speakers in th bulk head. There should have been a garbage can beside where we were asked to bring our plates to. Ran out of croissants and replaced with some kind if spinach pastry. Not great. Coffee was great. All being said, being able to have a light breakfast before touring the City was nice.
Review 98:Location was excellent, front desk were very pleasant, efficient and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. The view was gorgeous. We would certainly go back to this location.
Review 99:The front desk staff could be a little more friendlier and say hi once in a while. It won't hurt :)
Review 100:Loved the location. Closed to everything within walking distance. The view from our room was spectacular.
Review 101:Bathroom was small...
Review 102:We were impressed with how courteous and helpful the staff were. From the recpetion area to the young woman cleaning the room, to the young man we met in the parking lot. Everyone one of them asked if they could assist us in any way. Reminded us of the staff at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto....
Review 103:The window in the middle of the room was foggy making it harder to see outside but we cannot blame the staff for that. The breakfast was good but they had no meats and they only had hard eggs.
Review 104:We were just married and this was our first stop to niagara falls , the location was Very close to everything downtown making it easy to explore the city , the view on the lake was really nice also. About the breakfast Good breakfast with croissant cereals , fruits and toasts ,the muffins and the croissant were always warm the room was cleaned and the staff was really nice and eager to help. It was nice to have air conditioning in this heat ! We had a mini fridge in our room and this can really come usefull when you travel !
Review 105:We stayed at the hotel for a local triathon. I asked to have the check out time extended to 11:30 and was told no, that no one was getting late checkout. Found out shortly after that friends in the same hotel had check out extended to 1pm. Totally put off false info, and failure to accomodate our needs. Also, parking is $20 extra bring cost to $189. for an average hotel.
Review 106:location.
Review 107:Parking was a nuisance. Not enough spots for the number of guests. We ended up parking across the street from the hotel.
Review 108:The location was excellent. You could walk everywhere, take a ferry just outside the door of the hotel or just sit in the park and listen to bands. Absolutely lovely.
Review 109:The parking is a joke. Push the button and give name and room number. Then you drive around and hope to find a spot. They have no idea if they have a parking spot. Big guy behind the desk acts like a mall cop.
Review 110:The location is Great
Review 111:Booked in January for August arrival. Booked a room with a view of marina & was placed in the tiniest of rooms with a peephole window.
Review 112:The location beside the water/marina
Review 113:Closest location to the Poker Run. Stayed there the past few years. Best value around. Now please don't raise the price on us repeat customers.
Review 114:None.
Review 115:It's a great location, clean comfy beds, nice view. Breakfast was average yet decent for a " free " breaky. Air conditioning made horrible noise " the fan" but was quiet after twenty minutes. Impressive view of the water and skyline.
Review 116:The TV is very old and had pixels missing and bad color. The beds were hard and uncomfortable.
Review 117:Location was great. The room was very spacious and clean.
Review 118:breakfast was not very good could have had something hot felt sorry for women working alone and trying to keep everything filled
Review 119:staff was every accommodating
Review 120:Parking was insufficient,no guarantee of a spot even if you paid t he option was across the street where you had to get up at 7 amto pay or risk a ticket The carpet was very stained
Review 121:Location was excellent close to every thing ,within walking distance of many attractions
Review 122:I just found, for the price we paid, it didn't meet the standard level of acceptance.
Review 123:The reason I booked this place was because it was a short walk for our dinner cruise
Review 124:Breakfast . No so many choices . I did not expect beacon and eggs but at least pancakes and waffles , muffins , oatmeal , lot of variety of cereals
Review 125:The View
Review 126:Breakfast is very, very basic No showers and towels in the pool/hot tub area carpets should be replaced
Review 127:location is the best convenient underground parking excellent staff
Review 128:1. The bathtub was dirty. Scum had built up on it and it looks like it only had ever been wiped on surface. I scrubbed it with a cloth before I ventured in the shower. This removed a considerable amount but still a fair bit of dirty scum remained. 2. There were long black hairs on bathroom floor which left me questioning if the floor had been vacuumed. 3. There were several "Cheerios" on the carpet in various spots which again left me questioning whether it had been vacuumed. 4. The pillows were quite hard. 5. Cost of parking on site. 6. Facility needs updating as it is showing its age through wear-and-tear.
Review 129:1. Staff were friendly. 2. Breakfast was provided. However I would have preferred more than cereal, pastries and toast to include more fruits, yogurt, hot selections..etc 3. Underground parking on site.
Review 130:The hotel itself was very dirty, and the room was ok, but could have been cleaner. The food at breakfast was not very good and the choice was minimal.
Review 131:It was close to everything including the waterfront
Review 132:I found this hotel was a gem in the rough!! It is a little older of a hotel but the rooms were spacious clean and inviting!!! The staff were very friendly!! The continental breakfast was ok. The fruit had taken on the taste of the fridges!! The outdoor pool was small but clean and was like a little hideaway!! We would definately go back. It was close to everything in walking range!!
Review 133:When we were given our room key envelope, we were not told that the passes for the "breakfast" or WiFi password were inside. When I called down for the password, I got a man whom seemed really annoyed that I asked this question. It wasn't until later that I found the slip of paper inside the same envelope that had our room key inside it. I would have also liked the option to upgrade our breakfast to a hot meal.
Review 134:The location, we had a room with a view. It was great. The cleanliness was also good.
Review 135:The lack of free parking is a downfall. We ended up having to pay $30.00on top of room just for parking. Yes the public lot is convenientlylocated right across the street but having to pay $25.00 at 2 in theafternoon for a "day rate" then $5.00 more at 6:30pm for"overnight" and another $5.00 at 6:30 am on a sunday iscrazy!! Also this lot was packed and had to wait for an open spot. Thehotel also offers underground parking at $25.00 which we did not realizeuntil we had already parked publicly. Still a money grab. Bathrooms, while clean and nicely decorated are very small. Pool is an outdoor oneand very small. Very open to public view. Also be warned that the hotelwill take nearly double the cost of the room stay as a 3-5 day"hold" on your credit card for incidentals or damage even ifyou don't use the credit card to pay. This is the largest creditcard hold at a hotel I have ever encountered even at a much betterhotel. :/
Review 136:The hotel is old but has been nicely refurbished/decorated but youcan still see its' age. The beds are super comfy and so are thepillows. The room has a microwave and fridge which is very handy. Thelocation is prime for cruises, dining or shopping. There was a fleamarket across the street on Sunday morning. Staff are pleasant. The viewof the water from our room was lovely!
Review 137:The elevator on my floor was constantly buzzing. Had to be "fixed" a few times. Carpets and comforters had stains.
Review 138:Location was excellent, staff very efficient and nice, view of the water front, bed and pillows very comfortable.
Review 139:The room was very stinking, the air conditioner leak on large area of carpet. Breakfest area dark and not inviting. Cold hard boiled eggs and the rest was what you would find at continenal. Charged 20.00 per night for parking and they only have a handful of spots if you get a spot don't take the car out u may have to park two blocks away.
Review 140:Room was big and was right by the water and, boat and trolley tours.
Review 141:WiFi was quite slow.
Review 142:We loved the location and the view was wonderful. The room was fresh and comfortable and the staff were prompt and helpful.Breakfast was great.
