Reviews for The Mariner King Inn

Review 1:Everything was great, good location, friendly helpful staff, and a comfortable room full of modern conveniences, definitely a place we would stay again.

Review 2:My boyfriend and I booked this last minute as we were travelling from Ottawa to Halifax and then to lunenburg. We saw it online and booked it. We may have booked after reception hours but there was a contact number on the door that we called as soon as we arrived as the doors were all locked up For the night. However Dyan came moments after calling her and checked us in without any complaints. It was fantastic service. She was so friendly and on the ball. She even recommended places For us to see The next day. Our room was beautiful!! Wine bottle waiting for us with chocolates on the pillows. It surpassed our expectations and we were so at home. I would recommend the Mariner inn to anyone who is travelling to lunenburg. Beautiful Victorian styled home and our room was perfect. So clean and so organized. Even a shower cap for me and my long hair! The breakfast the next day was great and again The staff was so attentive and happy! The location was prime. We even left our truck At the inn during The day while we walked around! Fantastic experience and we can't wait to go back!!

Review 3:First room very small but no problem to move to a larger one in another building where there was an elevator.

Review 4:Attention to detail. Best breakfast in NS. Cleanliness. Margaret on staff most helpful.

Review 5:Beautiful place. We stayed in the newer section of the property. Beautiful room and bathroom. Crispy clean, had an elevator as well leading to second floor. Great breakfast !

Review 6:We were very surprised to see how modern our accommodations were in a older building. Very impressive. We stayed in the building across from the main inn. ( 20 feet) from the main building. Some rooms are in the main inn, others are just across the street. The main building has all the historic look to it. The Dining room with the outdoor glassed in area where we had the most wonder breakfast and there was a living room where you can spend time in, there was even a fitness centre go figure. Centrally located to everything

Review 7:The Mariner King manages to combine historical charm with modern comfort and amenities; quirky, nautical charm with elegance and sophistication. We were in the Cranberry Suites building, and my whole group loved the elevator with the mural painted all the way up! Breakfast was delicious -- especially the homemade scones. The location was very central, and all of the interesting sights in Lunenburg were within an easy walk. Quiet and very effectively air conditioned, with comfortable beds, chocolates on the pillows, a small selection of wines available in the room, and a shower that could have used a handbook -- we loved our stay at the Mariner King.

Review 8:As above

Review 9:Everything was fabulous, tts just that it was super expensive for such a small room.. Not at all quiet with people checking out in the early am.

Review 10:The breakfast was not as expected nor was walking down street to our room.

Review 11:The suite was fabulous. Large, fireplace, seating area, extra beds. The bathroom was great and so was access to a mini bar.

Review 12:Wifi could be spotty at high use times but we find that to be the case in most hotels - not a big deal.

Review 13:Very pretty, extremely clean room with a fantastic, modern, spacious bathroom. Staff was great. This was probably one of the best rooms we have ever stayed in. Everything was great.

Review 14:The property is beautiful, the staff are impeccable, and as a solo, handicapped traveller I appreciated all that they did to accommodate me.. Two thumbs up...

Review 15:We were celebrating our 50th Anniversary. Staff and the facility were the highlight of our Maritime holiday. Margaret was on duty on our arrival and her charm and welcoming attitude made our stay an excellent experience. Keith and Linda Leeson

Review 16:Loved our room with a double aspect view. Also every ammenity was on offer in the room including a super coffee machine. Breakfast was buffet style with meats cheeses and fruit.

Review 17:If I had to be picky it would be the bright green new paint on exterior but inside is lovely.

Review 18:Lovely old building in the centre of Lunanburg Near to all restaurants and shore Vintage chic combined with modern luxury. Fireplace was a welcome extra after our party returned cold and wet after sailing in rain.

Review 19:Such a romantic setting in the hub of historic Lunenburg. Everything was top notch. A must for anyone who is looking for the true Nova Scotia experience! Can't wait to visit again!

Review 20:Room is a bit crowded. The room we were in was a small room to begin with. There was not enough room for the person to get around to the other side of the bed because of the desk at the end of the bed and the chair beside it. Too much furniture for such a small room. Number of pillows on the bed is a bit excessive for the size of bed and room.

Review 21:We liked the Keurig machine in the room which we could make ourselves a cup of coffee, the mini bar, and good selection of shampoo and soap. It was also nice to find sewing kit, shower cap and Qtips in the bathroom. Staff was very helpful.

Review 22:Breakfast is continental so nothing hot. Would have liked hot cereal. Could have used big fluffy towels in bath.

Review 23:The staff, particularly Margaret, were great. We were given a beautiful room with a king bed - top floor. Ask for top floor room. So cozy and comfy. The bathtub was fabulous and lots of hot water. Really a fabulous place to stay in a perfect location. Lots to see in town as well.

Review 24:The faux-leather couch in the sitting room looked like it would be more comfortable on the side of the road waiting for the garbage pick up. The tattered upholstery stood in stark contrast the rest of the nicely appointed room. And the decorative rope accents in the shower were moldy.

Review 25:I like the old grandeur of the inn, comfortable rooms, pleasant staff and the fantastic location.

Review 26:Our room in the inn was a little small but its an historic property so not a problem.

Review 27:Charming property with very friendly staff. Continental breakfast was great. Lovely place to stay within walking distance of the waterfront and many places to eat. They also have rooms in two other nearby properties.

Review 28:Room was relatively small and too crowded with furniture. Elevator to 4th floor was very slow.

Review 29:Location, ambience, friendly staff. Very roomy bathroom, with strong hot shower. Breakfast was just what was needed to start off the day walking around Lunenburg.

Review 30:It was a bit expensive but we were there at high season. Nothing else to say, really!

Review 31:Monika at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating. The location is ideally situated close to all major amenities. The room was beautifully appointed. The attention to detail was immaculate.

Review 32:While the continental breakfast was above average I would have preferred a "Cooked" breakfast. Our room was well appointed but small compared to other places we have stayed in the same price range.

Review 33:Staff was great. Location perfect.

Review 34:Not a lot to do in this area, but still enjoyed it.

Review 35:Good location, New rooms. Got an upgrade as the booking of th room never want thru from booking .com

Review 36:Our room was small with 2 suitcases we didn't have a lot of room. It would have been nice to have had a hot breakfast but it was ok.

Review 37:The service was excellent. The front desk clerk made us feel very welcome and was very informative of local restaurants and tourist attractions.

Review 38:The staff member who greeted us was not particularly friendly or welcoming. When we came back to our suite around 2:45 the second day, it had not yet been serviced. The bed went unmade, and I had to ask for fresh linens and for the mini-bar to be restocked with creamer for morning coffee. Considering the price of our suite, I expected friendlier staff and better service.

Review 39:The location of the Mariner King is very convenient to the waterfront shops and restaurants. The morning breakfast was outstanding: It was very European with salmon, capers, deli meats, fresh fruit/jams and scones, biscuits, etc. We had a suite which was nice for those who wanted to retire earlier than others.

Review 40:of course it was very comfortable ,and attractive, but the best part was the staff , so friendly and immediately ready to make it work,we were there during the hurricaine but the attitude was upbeat and service continued without power, esp the young woman who was the concierge on july 4 and 5 2014 , but all were great

Review 41:Breakfast was made without any attention, taste or love.

Review 42:The location

Review 43:The friendliness of staff Quality of room

Review 83:Very comfortable room in an historic, attractive hotel. Free parking on the street close to the hotel (because it was a weekend). Breakfast included. Very friendly staff.

Review 84:We liked everything - couldn't fault it.

Review 85:Everything! Good location, friendly staff, excellent room and downstairs lounge to relax in. Excellent breakfast - a very good experience.

Review 86:Able to book on booking.com but no one was there when we arrived and we found out that the inn does not take reservations after 3:00 (booking.com allowed us to book well after 3:00). We were able to contact the manager by chance. The advertisement on booking.com is a little misleading as it suggests that we get to stay at the Mariner Inn in the photograph when our room was actually in the building two doors down.

Review 87:Perfect location, manager was wonderful, breakfast was lovely, the room was bright and clean, with everything we needed, close to sights, shopping and a beautiful walking path nearby.
