Reviews for Country Squire Resort & Spa

Review 1:Rooms were dated, confusing navigation through the halls, and very disruptive clients next door.

Review 2:Location and value were a positive. Night clerk was able to control the disruptive clients next door.

Review 3:Hot tub kept blowing breaker, Breakfast of toast and muffins, room was freezing when we arrived.

Review 4:Room was clean. Staff were nice and helpful for the most part.

Review 5:The beds were not comfortable, the rooms are a little dated. It looks like they have tried to update with new laminate flooring but the wallpaper in the bathroom is old and peeling. The hot tub in the pool area was not working when we were there. Finally the wing of the hotel that we were in was freezing. Walking back to the room after swimming was a chilly experience. We were able to heat the room up but they could definitely insulate that wing better.

Review 6:The staff were wonderful and the price was excellent! The on site restaurant is amazing! We really enjoyed swimming in the large indoor pool.

Review 7:Breakfast was barely set up at 745am. There was no hot food available. Did not like the fact of walking outside in the dark parking lot to get to my room.

Review 8:Staff was great, rooms were clean.

Review 9:This would be a nice summer locaton however in winter it appears to be a bit run down. They advertise full breakfast however it's just continental and very basic. Our jacuzzi room was comfortable however laminate floor was installed by an ameteur.

Review 10:Close to casino. Bed was comfortable.

Review 11:Musty smell in room. Wallpaper peeling off with stain and mildue in bathroom. Noises from HVAC interrupted sleep at night. No one was available at reception when we arrived at 12:30 am; called hotel and reached someone who told us our room key was sitting in an envelope in a box outside the reception door. That raised security concerns - anyone could pick up a key to any room if they wanted to.

Review 12:OK for a 1 night inexpensive stay to sleep. Simple breakfast in the morning was adequate. Tropicana orange juice, cereals, bagels, bread. For a stay of 2+ days, the Holiday Inn Express next door is a better experience overall for the price.

Review 13:continental breakfast was not taken care of, missing lots of stuff and no one came in to fill the missing food....

Review 14:location, very clean, and very comfortable.....

Review 15:We have always enjoys staying here. Everyone is so nice. Joan, who cleaned our room.... did a 100+% job and we were very pleased. Next trip... we will get to use your pool all redone. Thank you.

Review 16:price quoted did not happen, the pool was being painted, breakfast had a spot for sausage and eggs but no one to cook so slim pickings cereal and toast, fruit was apples. arrived back at our non smoking hotel at two in the morning and the hall reeked like skunk...it was the dope smokers in the next room with the adjoining screened in porch. This smell oozed in to our room. TV was tiny and fuzzy. I just wanted a bed for the night and it was not worth the price!!!!!

Review 17:Clean bathroom and bed.

Review 18:Cobwebs in multiple corners (2 rooms were booked). When calling to confirm booking the spa, the message regarding the pool referred to a particular weekend it would be closed. The message was unclear that it was the weekend we booked our 2 rooms so we thought it would be available for use. Gum stuck to the side of one of the bed posts.

Review 19:Beds and bathrooms were clean. Carol (front desk) and Jenny (spa) were both very friendly and helpful.

Review 20:We were told it's off season, no hot breakfast and it just happened that the pool was under renovation and we were looking forward to get wet. That was the main reason to book this hotel.

Review 21:Location

Review 22:The beds were not that comfortable, rooms need updating. However for thee price location and cleanliness We really can not complain

Review 23:That there was a patio connected to our room.

Review 24:Great value, comfortable, clean. A bit dated and, and an odd-shape in some spots, but in excellent shape. Variety of accommodation types. GREAT balcony/porch.

Review 25:Breakfast was weak--not awful--but not quite comparable to other included breakfasts.

Review 26:Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable, quiet room. Good value.

Review 27:Didnt like that our coffee machine didnt work or fireplace didnt give off heat, whitch the room beside us did then was told its just decoration when asked.

Review 28:We liked that the hotel was close to little shops casnio and had restaurant pub on site. Bed was comfy breakfast was ok. The staff we talked to were nice. Pool area was ok. We got massages ect and it was amazing.

Review 29:It was not very environmentally friendly. Breakfast used all disposable plates and cutlery and cups in the room were also disposable.

Review 30:It was clean and staff were pleasant and friendly.

Review 31:I was very disappointed in the suite. The room was definitely not worth the money we payed. Very small jacuzzi suite. The room cleanliness I thought was extremely poor. We booked this room based on the description of having its own private balcony/courtyard. If you call private courtyard private with several other people??? Very misleading. This was a rantic getaway for my husband's birthday, we made the best out of it but were very disappointed.

Review 32:Location was good. Close to casino.

Review 33:Didn't like that I thought it was still a Best Western franchise and it wasn't!! Looking a little tired, but met our needs for a couple of nights to meet with friends and family in the area.

Review 34:Location and convenience to our events for the two days.

Review 35:The jacuzzi wasn't working when we went there but we were only in there for a short time anyhow.

Review 36:Loved the courtyard room. We were able to let our dog out easily. She loves the cool air and wanted to go out alot

Review 37:Hallways were very old and smelly. We could hear the people in the next room talking, so the walls didn't seem very sound-proof.

Review 38:Clean, rooms were decent

Review 39:The layout was like a maze, walked "outside" to reach the lobby, much easier. The bathroom smelled like urine and it wasn't cleaned efficiently on a daily basis, especially the bathroom.

Review 40:The easy access to food, day trips & local shopping

Review 41:I did not think the breakfast was satisfactory, it could very easily be improved. Some of the staff were also a little grumpy. The place looked like the pictures but felt older and more run down.

Review 42:Jacuzzi, the bedroom was awesome too!!

Review 43:The male staff were not overly helpful or friendly. .

Review 44:No carpets in room meant no stuffy noses when we awoke. Linens fresh, bed and pillows comfy. Lovely patio off room. Nice breakfast. Ours was a renovated room, not sure if they all were.

Review 45:The only reason I gave the staff 4/5 is because the staff were looking at people kind of weird while having their breakfast which made me and my partner a bit uncomfortable. other than that everything was perfect.

Review 46:It seems as though it has never been updated since it was built. The rooms, although beautiful and comfy, are very much outdated.

Review 47:It has an old school charm, like a resort from years past. The grounds are nice and the hot breakfast was surprisingly good.

Review 48:The water temperature in the outdoor pool was to cold for our liking.

Review 49:The staff very friendly and accommodating. The overall appearance of the hotel was clean and inviting.

Review 50:Facility is old and in need of updating. getting from one area to another is a maze an desk staff instructions incoherent. Overall, desk staff inexperienced and in need of TRAINING.. . Will not use again

Review 51:Very little, except breakfast.

Review 52:The rooms were very outdated. They have to update the wallpapers, the bed needs to be updated too. The pillows were too soft. Also the breakfast, there wasn't that much selection to chose from.

Review 53:The jucuzzi was an amazing size for the two of us and it was easy to use. It was also easy to find.

Review 54:Very outdated. Room was dark. Bathroom was in need of updating as bathtub showed mold. Needs painting throughout (including hallways). Disappointed.

Review 55:Upon arrival building looked questionable. I was pleasantly surprised to find the room very clean and decent even though it was an old building. I'll stay there again.

Review 56:Located almost outside if town, 20 minute walk to harbor. Room was very humid, even with AC. Breakfast did not offer any variety.

Review 57:Great hotel for a relaxing few days with the two pools, the squash court and the spa. Beds really comfortable, nice big room. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 58:Breakfast wasn't up to par No bagels or fresh fruit cups or hot cereal, No pancakes or waffles. The sausage looked as if they had been reheated more than once. Scrambled eggs were tasteless. My sister promptly threw up upon returning to our room. We didn't go the second morning for breakfast. I found a prescription pill under the bed, which indicates the room hadn't been vacuumed properly. No laundry bag provided. It would have been nice to be able to check in a bit earlier earlier after such a long drive. The booking site said that this was a Best Western Hotel, but found out when leaving that it was privately owned for several months. That probably explains the housekeeping vacuuming deficiency.

Review 59:It was a quiet and comfortable stay. Ample parking. Enjoyed the free newspaper.

Review 60:The dirty floors. Bugs. Smell in hallway. Breakfast. Gym smelled. Staff did not respond to request to change room or remove built up hair and mold from bathroom floor.

Review 61:Nothing at all. The whole experience was terrible while we were at the hotel.

Review 62:The bathroom door does not close. The room was not ready when promised. Room was not serviced the second day. We asked if we could trade for clean towels but they didn't have enough.

Review 63:The drain in the bathroom didnt drain well at all, the taps were very loose, the fireplace was disconnected, the whirlpool tub although pretty was incredibly uncomfortable and the free breakfast was terrible I have seen 2 star hotels have better choices

Review 64:the area was beautiful, the parking and access to the room was great and the bed and room itself was very comfortable.

Review 65:old, not to clean, back door left open, dirty towel left in bathroom, no ice bucket in room ,when we ask for one they had to put a plastic bag Inside it because it was old & not clean.

Review 66:room had terrible musty smell, even though room had been redone it was still dated looking, gardens were not looked after and fountains had been let go. not like times before when I had been in the area. I remembered it looking like a really nice spot. that's why I chose it.

Review 67:pool was nice

Review 68:Breakfast had a lot to be desired... Our room was infested with some kind of bugs, that made red spots all over my back. Suggested they fumigate that room

Review 69:Staff, location excellent

Review 70:Below average breakfast. Disposal crockery. Not enough spaces to sit. In this price they must raise breakfast options. Lot of dampness smell in the rooms. Queen bed size too small.

Review 71:Central Location. Close to 1000 Island. Open spaces and pools for kids. Good room size.

Review 72:I didn't like the breakfast especially the scrambled eggs. They tasted vinegary. One of the rooms 214 smelled musky.

Review 73:I liked the location. Outside pool and exterior rooms to the pool.

Review 74:The bed was seriously the comfiest bed I have ever slept on at a hotel. It wasn't super soft which tend to hurt my back. It was firm and just perfect.

Review 75:The front desk at check out wasn't very helpful. Seemed bothered to help us when we asked where a tourist attraction was located . Didn't even attempt to be curtious or helpful. Just said I have know clue where that is , in a irritated voice. Light bulbs in room / porch also burnt out. Along with bedding that was not clean (bedspread), other ppls personal belongings left in fridge from privous visit.

Review 76:The room was clean, the two entry points was nice .. Also having a little porch out to the pool was nice .

Review 77:We had requested a quiet room away from traffic, but were given a room quite close to the highway. The noise from the traffic and banging doors in neighbouring rooms kept waking us up at night. Chunks of grouting were coming out from our bathroom floor and caulking was missing around the tub with resulting black mould. The covers on the beds were stained. The hair dryer quickly overheated and conked out. The breakfast room had insufficient seating for the guests when we were there and you weren't allowed to take the food to your room. As well, there was a big line-up for the one toaster.

Review 78:Nice indoor pool

Review 79:Indoor pool water too warm and the pool room itself was too humid and, thus, a bit smelly. Smell from the pool invaded the adjacent restaurant which was not pleasant - we ate on the deck.

Review 80:Location was great. Grounds are well kept and lovely. Indoor and outdoor pools were nice and the rooms overlooking the pool are very handy. Fish and chips at the attached restaurant was yummy!

Review 81:We have stayed in hotels all over the world and keep coming back here. Bed and pillows are the most comfortable anywhere. We always get a great night sleep.

Review 82:I found some of the staff a little unfriendly. The lady who checked us in was good. We had tried to check in earlier the gentlemen at the desk was kinda testy about it.

Review 83:The location.

Review 84:Ants on the indor pool floor and some fell in pool. I've been stopping there a few times a year for the past few years now and only been going down hill. Won't be staying there anymore.

Review 85:Kinda run down, breakfast was not the best, garbage dumpster close to room was disgusting lots of seagulls and stray cats

Review 86:Enjoyed outdoor pool and location, staff were very friendly

Review 87:It was a bit of maze inside with many stairways. Not good for accessibly challenged.

Review 88:Convenient location, good restaurant, friendly staff, good firm comfortable beds, nice pools.

Review 89:Indoor pool smelled like urine. Didn't use hot tub because it too smelled bad.

Review 90:The good size decks right off room. We had pool side, 50 steps to clean pool.

Review 91:Floors were filthy - wearing white socks that turned black. Totally unappetizing free breakfast. Used coupon once went out for breakfast second day.

Review 92:Room was cozy with outside patio -

Review 93:Our room was very small. The air conditioner was very hard to figure out. We had to call someone to help with it and then learned there was a remote that we had to search for. I reserved two rooms under different names at the same time but our rooms were on opposite sides of the building. I was very disappointed at the grounds. The pond area was a disgrace. We visited this hotel multiple years about 6 years ago and it was much better then! I won't be bringing my family back!

Review 94:We liked the location of the hotel.

Review 95:Very thin walls, can hear everything in other rooms and hallway. Can hear/feel people walking in rooms and hallways

Review 96:Great location, friendly staff, good restaurant, clean rooms

Review 97:Extremely simple motel. Undergoing renovation in some areas, but there is a lot of ground to cover before justifying the 3 stars from Booking.

Review 98:Good location if visiting Thousand Islands, but that's about it.

Review 99:Bed bug in one bed. When I told the man, he told me they will wash it "'cause they have very strong detergent". He didn't say he was sorry, he didn't refund me, he didn't offer me anything to compensate. The very bad quality of the breakfast: toasts, Peanut butter, cereals (Froot Loops, Special K). The muffins didn't taste good, nor the orange juice, nor the coffee. Yogourts were very good. I won't go back. I don't recommand it.

Review 100:The welcome smile and the kindness of the lady when we arrived. The location is good.

Review 101:Breakfast was I inedible. Hallways were dirty and musty smelling. Room was tired and needed a deep cleaning. Air conditioner unit really needed a filter change. Funky smell when turned on.

Review 102:The wifi was free;however, most hotels have free wifi now so no biggie.

Review 103:Breakfast area disorganized. Bread one side and toaster the other side. Use of plastic utensils and paper plates. Room smelled a little mouldy.

Review 104:Room size, nice shower. Free WF. Nice outdoor areas with pool.

Review 105:The hotel was clean and quiet, and was in a good location for the purpose of our trip. The decor in the rooms is a little dated, but was comfortable and nothing looked worn out. The breakfast was pretty standard.

Review 106:The suite needed to be updated. Paint and wallpaper upgrades needed.Tub in room need repair at drain.

Review 107:Large grounds, 2 pools, spa, breakfast and very spacious

Review 108:By 1030pm the bandwidth of the WiFi was used and was hard to get on the WiFi.

Review 109:That the pool was open till 10pm, it was very quiet, and the breakfast wast to bad either.

Review 110:Breakfast food was poor. Facility needs some remodeling. Room needed to be updated.

Review 111:Location was good. Jacuzzi tub was nice. Room was clean and staff was friendly.

Review 112:There was nothing we didn't like with the exception of the coffee, could have had a little more kick to it. We just hope that now that it is not a BW it doesn't go down hill. The restaurant could us some work

Review 113:The housekeeping staff were excellent and went out of their way to be helpful and friendly

Review 114:Nothing! Except the bed was a little too soft for our tastes.

Review 115:The rooms were bright, clean and spacious. It was pleasant to relax in the hot tub and have a swim in the indoor pool. I particularly liked the cute patios attached to the rooms where you could have a drink after supper. The attached restaurant was reasonably priced and the food was pretty tasty.!

Review 116:Room dark. Patio door would not lock. Fridge in centre of bedroom makes a loud noise for 5 minutes every 10 mins making it difficult to sleep. Microwave in middle of room has glaring blue numbers making it difficult to sleep. Surrounded by electrical gadgets which we had to turn off in order to sleep. Animal, probably squirrel, trapped in roof and constantly running about.

Review 117:Will have to think about that. Staff friendly particularly maids.

Review 118:The breakfast manly catered to children more then adults. sausage and scramble eggs was every day

Review 119:The rooms every clean and comfortable Maid staff every nice

Review 120:The Room was filter sealing need paint all kinds of bugs on the sealing , Bathroom really need re panting and work bottom of the wall the doors back as mole that been re paint over , screen door really need cleaning ..one morning i ad to call service becose they didn"t leave no coffee envellope and sugar ,we stay 3 nights was bill before the check out didn"t like that wanted to pay some cash not all charge on my card .

Review 121:staff are nice , really like the view of the outside of Motel nice propriety and good parking .

Review 122:Breakfast could use a couple more choices like bacon and maybe some boiled eggs

Review 123:Quiet and peaceful.rooms were very clean.also had a massage and it was wonderful.

Review 124:Breakfast choices were limited and there was only white bread for toasting, not enough healthy choices, couldn't use pool because of yoga class (not relaxing), used hot tub but couldn't sit on side of tub because there was no surround - I think last time there was a different tub. The grounds are pretty but could use more cleanup i.e. trimming, dead branches taken away, some sidewalk repair. This would make a huge difference. Night check in staff was efficient and knowledgeable but didn't seem very happy (didn't smile).

Review 125:Beds were great, room was clean, indoor and outdoor pools great, facilities great, grounds are very pretty good location, good value

Review 126:A little worn at the edges but good value for $125 per night.

Review 127:Very comfortable bed and pillows. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast had everything you would expect. A clean, comfortable stay in a rustic setting. The screened-in porch on our rooms overlooking the courtyard gave it a real cottage-like feel. The pool is lovely.

Review 128:The maze of hallways and doors, steps from one level to another while going from one location to another seemed endless. Not good if you have trouble walking.

Review 129:Room was clean and comfortable. Little disappointed with the outside grounds area. Needed some TLC.

Review 130:The overall facility inside and out was very run down. The room was musty and smelled like urine. The bathroom door wouldn't close. The outdoor pool was filthy and the breakfast was terrible.

Review 131:Close proximity to downtown.

Review 132:I would have given this hotel a perfect score if the breakfast had been better. When paying 150. 00 a night, breakfast could have been more than lukewarm scrambled eggs and sausage. Make your own toast. We didn't bother having breakfast there the second night. We skipped over to Tim Horton's the second morning. Wifi was hit and miss.

Review 133:Was comfortable and clean. Staff was awesome. Pool was great too. Location was very good.

Review 134:I think that posting a sign about where to turn on the Jacuzzi would make it more convenience for us seniors ...that don't look around. Also more information on using the telephone would be more convenient. Thank you.

Review 135:The room was just lovely!! We really thought that is was decorated great.

Review 136:Hot tub was not maintained. Walls between rooms very thin so you could here others.

Review 137:Grounds of the hotel were large and good if you were staying multiple days.

Review 138:The maze of halls and dead ends was frustrating. The halls were dimly lit. The indoor pool room was not inviting at all - very stifling atmosphere. No one was using the pool. The restaurant food was mediocre.

Review 139:The outdoor pool was wonderful, well kept. The beds were very comfortable.
