Reviews for Brewster's Mountain Lodge
Review 1:The first room we were in was beside the elevator and the ice machine and a room with a frat party going on so we didn't get any sleep the first night
Review 2:The staff moved us to a quieter room and upgraded to a king
Review 3:Slightly outdated interior, but can consider it is historical and classic style. Breakfast can be better with some hot stuffs.
Review 4:Nice location in the center of Banff. Most of nearby restaurants are top-ranked in tripadvisor, makes every step for the dinner as good opportunity to meet the wonderful food. Wifi was moderate speed.
Review 5:Gym equipment was minimal.. would be nice if there was a treadmill or elliptical. The sheets on the beds were very slippery and plastic-like
Review 6:Very comfy beds, great hot tub, nice continental breakfast, and good downtown location!
Review 7:maintenance Needs a little touch , needs newer shower head , the ceiling fan didn't work , everything was great
Review 8:Loved the room !!! A beautiful room with a maxing veiw , made us feel right at home away from home !!!
Review 9:The hotel floor plan can be a bit confusing. The whirlpool area seemed a little neglected (out of towels for example).
Review 10:The atmosphere was unique- always smelled delicious, warm and inviting. We especially loved the loft suite we stayed in. Felt cozy and private despite downtown location.
Review 11:The parkade is SUPER small, look out if you have a pick up truck.
Review 12:The location of this hotel is amazing! Everything is in walking distance, food, bars, malls, you name it, you can get to it!
Review 13:Not enough comfortable chairs in room.
Review 14:Reasonable underground parking, within walking distance of most everywhere we wanted to be, didn't use our car in between check-in & check-out. Fourth annual stay at this hotel & counting.
Review 15:Make you pay for under ground parking each night. That's just terrible. Definitely paying a premium for the location. Pretty standard hotel
Review 16:Location
Review 17:Breakfast venue bit confusing to find; Continental breakfast could use variety/healthier breads; Place needs real ski lockers not ski locks;
Review 18:Great location, clean room and friendly staff.
Review 19:Bed could have been more comfortable and parking was limited.
Review 20:Location was awesome. Was right in downtown (one block in from the main street) so everything was well within walking distance.
Review 21:I like the location in the middle of Banff, the view from the window of my room. The staff is very friendly with useful advises on the places to see.
Review 22:Good location - close to good restaurants, shops and the shuttle bus to the slopes. Our room was clean and spacious and the beds were comfortable. Friendly staff.
Review 23:Parking, location of room some so stairs [19] to get to an elevator and breakfast some 17 stairs below the 19 already traveled. Room in the basement the longest distance from the lobby.. Furniture in the room very uncomfortable.
Review 24:We didn't like that we were put far away from the elevator. We didn't like how the floor in our room creaked every time we walked on it waking up the other spouse each time one had to go to the washroom. Didn't like how we were woken up in the morning from the creaking of the floor above us. Didn't like how the light came in around the door. Didn't like how there were so many stairs to get anywhere. Didn't like how we had to pay for parking when we drove 5 hours to stay at your hotel.
Review 25:The location was convenient.
Review 26:We did not have good sleep for 2 nights as it was very noisy with people shouting outside and garbage trucks banging .Breakfast offered is not great.
Review 27:Location was excellent
Review 28:On the downside ...... The internet is shocking. 1.5 Mbps download and 0.15 Mbps upload ...... And constantly disconnecting. Underground parking is charged at $5.00 per night ...... And height clearance is very limited.
Review 29:The location is awesome. Just one block to the main Banff ave and all the shops. I had a loft room which was very comfortable, though a little dated. The shower was great and the room itself was clean and tidy.
Review 30:The bed was a little hard this time than what we like. They have been fine before so not sure why the difference this time.
Review 31:The staff are very friendly. The rooms are very charming and very clean. They serve a really nice continental breakfast as well. The hotel is close to downtown so you can park at the hotel and walk to most places in Banff. We have stayed there numerous times and will continue to book there when we stay in Banff!!
Review 32:One of the staff at breakfast time had an attitude and was not helpful. I had mentioned this to the management at the time All other staff were helpful
Review 33:Gave us a chance to enjoy Bannf. Good location
Review 34:We enjoyed our stay: The staff was friendly, the room was clean and well-maintained and the atmosphere welcoming. The breakfast was satisfying and parking was included! It was everything we expected and more. Great value!
Review 35:parking situation is terrible, going out to a national park to hike or see the sights and coming back to a full parking garage because it's tiny is really awful. You're losing lots more out of not fixing that and bad reviews than if you simply took action to deal with it. No one wants to return tired from a long hike to find they have no parking. Really bad service.
Review 36:location is good, staff was helpful
Review 37:Our bed seemed to have had definite wear, as it dipped towards to center. Pillows were not comfortable. Very thin. After 3 nights both my husband and I had back issues and very little sleep.
Review 38:The location was fabulous. The staff were very friendly.
Review 39:Room was not well insulated for sound. Outside noise was noticeable with windows closed, foot steps from room above were very loud and doors closing in the hallway was very loud.
Review 40:Location is fantastic, other than street noise but not the hotels fault.
Review 41:I'm not sure that usually lodges will have facilities like refridgerator or microwave or not. This place doesn't have them.
Review 42:Great location with lodging atmosphere.
Review 43:We just lucked out.....picking for a location you are not familiar with is difficult. Wonderful location. Parked our car when we got in and walked everywhere. When we wanted to see sights booked tours - hotel was helpful - pickup a block away - tourist center a block away - great restaurants all around. Beautiful town. Breakfast oddly in basement room, but good breakfast in brightly lit area and easy to get to. People at desk were friendly and fun - helped me with my tablet when I couldn't figure something out. I have told several people going to the area to for sure stay there.
Review 44:Breakfast was continental...
Review 45:Good location in the middle of Banff town. The hotel has parking but you have to pay for it 15cad. Rooms are big and nice. Very good wifi. Lots of restaurants around and price was good. Continental breakfast...
Review 46:On our second night here we were in Room 337, there was a lot of outside noise from party goers, not good when we had to be up at 5.30am!
Review 47:Good Downtown location, value for money
Review 48:Bedroom was large but needed another bedside cabinet. Price was high but all hotel prices are inflated for the granfondo biking weekend
Review 49:Location to down town Banff
Review 50:Everything from staff(Amanda!) to location( in town) off street parking to decor and fresh cookies daily at front desk....all outstanding and I would highly recommend. they also have a great whirlpool and dry sauna my husband used daily. Also free continental breakfast to get you going. We loved Banff and we loved our accommodations at the Brewster Lodge!
Review 51:Paying for parking in their underground garage. We have stayed at other hotels and did not have to pay.
Review 52:We really liked the convienence of being in the heart of downtown Banff.
Review 53:The parking space is a little small. I had a hard time parking my truck for there was a little space between the parking space.
Review 54:The room is excellent rom the bed, carpets, color accent and design. It was comfortable and so relaxing.
Review 55:The staff was really friendly and helpful. I had to check-in to a different hotel the next day, and they were able to hold onto my luggage until the check in time so I was able to do some hiking in between without carrying my luggage around. The location was good as well, the free breakfast was also sufficient and the rooms were cozy.
Review 56:Limited car parking in underground garage, and the size of parking bays reflects an earlier era pre-SUVs! But long term free public car parking available one block away. Noise from nightclub across the road was a problem if the window was left open (as we prefer). No air conditioning, which wasn't a problem for us, but may be at certain times of the year.
Review 57:Great location, friendly and helpful staff. Library/lounge area useful. Acceptable wifi available.
Review 58:The breakfast could have been better. Cereal and toast isn't enough. It needs a waffle maker at least. A fridge isn't guaranteed in the standard rooms. (We had no fridge)
Review 59:Great location, friendly staff and very clean rooms.
Review 60:Our room located at the farthest corner of the ground level with a small window facing the garbage bins in the street. there's no view from our window and we have to close the window most of the time. The hotel has a wield strucure. We have to climb up to the 2nd floor and then come down to the ground floor to our room.
Review 61:Good location in downtown, free breakfast. Room are big.
Review 62:Noise level. You hear everything from your neighbour to floor cracking to washroom noises. The running water and showers sound like a waterfall. Always had trouble with the wifi. Supposely i got the best room of the place according to staff, and it was really not worth $400 a night. Wouldnt pay $200 to stay in it if visited the area again.
Review 63:Location was good. Center of town. Cant complain.
Review 64:Had a room on the back and when window open very noisy - especially late at night. No fresh fruit at breakfast and room very small.
Review 65:Location and downtown area. Staff very friendly and accommodating.
Review 66:Although the breakfast was very nice, it was a bit confusing to find. Having to use the elevator to reach the different floors was a concern in case of an emergency.
Review 67:Location was fun. Enjoyed the balcony which afforded us good people watching and nice views. Loved opening the doors and letting in the wonderful air.
Review 68:Location is terrific, easily walkable to the town centre, many shops, restaurants, etc. very close by. Beds were comfortable, and the room was very clean. The decor was rustic luxury.
Review 69:great central location, got a room upgrade when we arrived. Quiet location, just a little noise on Saturday night. The continental b'fast is more than adequate with yoghurt and fresh fruit salad
Review 70:The parking does not accommodate all vehicles which should be disclosed on line. We ended up parking on the street 4 blocks from the lodge. Very inconvenient, my husband broke his heel and does not walk long distances well. The breakfast room was down two flights of stairs, after the first day, my husband did not go to the breakfast room. So , it would have been nice if there was coffee in the lobby. The shower in our room did not drain. It was fixed by the 3rd day we were there. There were two queen beds in the room. One was okay but the other was as hard as a rock and made it hard to sleep, it was so uncomfortable.
Review 71:The town was very nice, and the lodge location was great.
Review 72:No air conditioning in our room was almost unbearable; and the breakfast location was very difficult to get to. Breakfast was poor selection and quality.
Review 73:Room size, and pine furniture, and great location!
Review 74:We couldn't get wifi in our room
Review 75:Great size room with an amazing bathroom, large double bath Breakfast is rare in Canada so it was a treat to get it here Love the car park, with lift straight to rooms
Review 76:With no air conditioning and temperatures reaching a (rare) 32 Celsius, rooms were very hot and stuffy. Prices were a bit high, even for Banff.
Review 77:Location was perfect! Underground parking is a real plus in Banff.
Review 78:Wifi was very slow, and there was a mattress cover on the bed that made me sweat like crazy all night
Review 79:Very attractive facility and furnishings, very clean, staff makes an effort to be very helpful
Review 80:Room was stuffy like aiconditioner wasn't working so had to leave window open which let in street noise from revellers.
Review 81:The central location was excellent
Review 82:The bathroom is downstairs while the bed is at the loft upstairs. The bathtub is not very clean. Parking spaces are tight, and the lighting is very dim,
Review 83:I like the location.
Review 84:Opposite late night pub and night club which was very noisy until after 2:00 am. Breakfast was poor with a surprisingly limted choice for this standard of hotel.
Review 85:Central location in Banff.
Review 86:The room location was very confusing, you had to walk up the stairs to the second floor to go back down to the first floor where our room was. The view was the maintenance garage, not what is advertised in their ads, and they call this an upgrade
Review 87:Enjoyed the location and the lobby was very nice
Review 88:Nothing major but coffee cups and sugar were not replenished after the first night. We had to call down to have them brought up. Aside from that, a perfect stay.
Review 89:Location is right in the middle of the Banff core. Walking distance from anywhere you want to be. The rooms are beautifully rustic and well kept.
Review 90:access i.e. getting to and from the room was a little weird - not a big issue, but unusual
Review 91:excellent breakfast - friendly and helpful staff - well located
Review 92:The spa jacuzzii was a jetted bathtub which didnt work - the room was hot and stuffy the table fan did not work the replacemnt we got worked but had to be propped up to not blow the floor- the maid service was unbelievable- I had a box of crackers in bed and fell asleep watching tv in the morninbg we just headed out right away- when we went to go to bed the maid had cleaned the room made the bed etc- i pulled the covers back to find the tipped over box of crackers with crackers and crumbs all over the sheets - shocked does not begin to explain what I was thinking- it was so strange- did not complete comment card but will not be returning and will definitely not be referring anyone to Brewsters
Review 93:location- desk persons were friendly
Review 94:Parking was an unexpected additional cost (although just 20CAD/day) Ask for a room away from the back alley as rubbish is collected daily at 6am!
Review 95:Staff were very friendly and helpful, upgraded us to a 'deluxe' room when I asked to move due to noise in the back alley. Spa and whirlpool very nice. Location is in the centre of the town within walking distance.
Review 96:No fridge, only time I didn't bring a cooler as a back up. A balcony would have been nice.
Review 97:Room was nice, decent bath & TV Parking was minimal but we managed to get a spot. Cenral, staff was curtious, and friendly. I really enjoyed the spin bike & hot tub.
Review 98:Overpriced, terrible wifi, uncomfortable old stiff mattress and old pillows, ancient bedding, room very hot from summer heat and no A/C - just a floor fan, jacuzzi jets didn't work, room had odd layout and had really dated fixtures, blankets etc. Definitely a case of a hotel not wanting to invest in improving its amenities but charging an arm and a leg. Would never return.
Review 99:Excellent location, friendly staff, lots of parking, and clean.
Review 100:There was a long black hair in the bath tub upon arrival! A LONG BLACK hair is really hard to miss in a WHITE BATH TUB, so one may wonder about the cleanness of the place! Also, the soundproofing of the room we stayed in was questionable!!
Review 101:The room was very cozy and the staff were friendly. The facilities were worth the money!
Review 102:No complaints whatsoever.
Review 103:The staff was really friendly and fun, the room was exactly as I had hoped. The balcony is a nice addition and overall it was spacious and the underground parking was a bonus.
Review 104:The continetal breakfast location has much to be desired!!! Defiantly not handicap accessible. Selection of choices was very limited. Did not like that the option of a feather pillow was not available.
Review 105:The room was great with a great view of the mountains from the balcony. Was very sound proof as not to be able to hear traffic and people was very nice.
Review 106:They had no available parking when we checked in and I had to park in a parking garage a block away. The layout of the hotel is very inconvenient, breakfast room is in the basement and might not be accessible for handicapped patrons.
Review 107:The room was comfortable and located close to downtown and restaurants.
Review 108:Breakfast......very good one but "continental". They should advertise properly. Water in the bathtubs wouldn't drain out. Water pressure is good but 5 min shower and you are standing in nee-high-water. But administration promised to take care of it ASAP.
Review 109:Beds are very comfortable. This location is in the hart of downtown but when you open back door it's opened into nice cosy "backyard". you aspect to hearing street noise but it's just a birds and wave of fresh air. Nice.
Review 110:The beds could have been more comfortable and the wifi was slow at times.
Review 111:This hotel was good value for dollar. The location was excellent. The room was spacious and well decorated. The breakfast was filling. Very clean.
Review 112:Breakfast was a little boring, but when a person has so much choice just walking distance away in either direction...who cares
Review 113:Loved the log cabin feel of the hole joint.
Review 114:A little noisy from the street but it was holiday weekend.
Review 115:Great location, everything within walking distance. We were on the top floor so we didn't have people walking over our heads so noise was reduced. Fantastic loft room.
Review 116:Breakfast location to hard to find,/get to, and poor selection of food...plus can not take food out to take to spouse who stayed back in room.
Review 117:Location of lodge.
Review 118:Tv no guide and the patio was over looking the work yard with wheel barrels and ladders the mountain's would of been a better view
Review 119:Location the room
Review 120:Parking access was difficult . The positioning of the posts at the entrance was too narrow. The hotel charged a $200 security deposit refundable on checkout.
Review 121:We enjoyed the terrace looking over the street.
Review 122:Very poor breakfast (needs improvement)
Review 123:Great location for people, who wants to enjoy Banff downtown; Lovely interior; Cleanliness; Big and cozy rooms
Review 124:I enjoyed the location it was accessible to downtown. It was easy to get to other locations such as Rimrock Resort. I look forward to returning with my family for a weekend to show them around Banff.
Review 125:Free wifi didn't really work. Was very slow and wouldn't load and asked for the password repeatedly.
Review 126:Staff were friendly, room was large and comfortable. Free continental breakfast was good. Great location.
Review 127:The manager gave us an upgraded room, because our first room didn't have a double spa tub. Which was pretty awesome, I wasn't expecting him to upgrade us for free.
Review 128:Fresh baked cookies upon checkin. Hearty breakfast to get you through the day. Secure parking and bike storage. Friendly and helpful staff. Well appointed rooms. Central location downtown means parking your vehicle for the length of your stay. Inner outside courtyard where smoking is allowed means you can enjoy a coffee in the morning or a drink in the evening in comfort.
Review 129:Both my husband and I had the worst sleep. Noisy drunk people all hours of the night walking up and down the hallways and outside hooting and yelling people. Also, upon checking out, the staff didn't ask how my stay was, or I would have told them. I also didn't get a breakdown receipt. Just just debit copy. When I booked the hotel online, it was for way less then what I paid. Wish I would have received the break down in billing. Not too satisfied about that.
Review 130:The hotel location was great as it was walking distance to pretty much everything.
Review 131:The kitchen employee had a hard time smiling...I always wondered if I was disturbing her. The cleaning of my room was to late in the afternoon. I would come back to relax in my room after skiing and I had to leave so she could clean up.
Review 132:The bed was very confortable. The choice for breakfast was very good...just enough and not to much.
Review 133:Parking arrangement. drive a f150 when parked in underground parking couldn't get out of vehicle. other location to park given have to move vehicle every 12 hours. not very convenient.
Review 134:location.
Review 135:WiFi is a pain. you have to keep logging in after you close. At least they have WiFi though. The parking for a truck is not great. Since it is in the core of downtown. Banff has change most of the parking to 2 hr or 3 hr. At night you can park on the street from 9:00 PM- 8:00AM but you have to move at 8:00AM. Down by the river you can park for 12;00 hours. Which is only two blocks away.
Review 136:Nice Hotel, I like the southwestern theme.
Review 137:Our room #338 backed onto an alley, which you'd think, would be quiet. Unfortunately the exuberations of patrons from the nearby club/bar continue until well after midnight. At 6 a.m. we were awoken by the garbage truck doing it's rounds. After our first night, the morning noise did not end with the garbage truck as it was the day of the street sweeping which continued till 7:30 a.m. By that time we had decided to get up. It would be good if these morning activities would only commence after 8 a.m. as after all, we are on vacation and would like to sleep late.
Review 138:Ideally situated in the heart of Banff, so walking the length and breadth of the town is no problem. Limited underground parking so park early to avoid disappointment. Internet was good. Breakfast was good.
