Reviews for Bluenose Lodge and Victorian Inn
Review 1:We felt $155 (included taxes) was priced high for this facility. There was no full breakfast and therefore should not be advertised as such. We were grateful for the small basket left in our room.
Review 2:Good location.
Review 3:stayed in the carriage house which had a musty smell and paint peeling off the walls and ceiling. Wifi was out of order, Breakfast was delivered the night before in a basket and was not good. Only had one cup in the room for two people. need I go on...
Review 4:Initially appeared to be a interesting looking old house but when inside it certainly smelled like an old musty house.
Review 5:security could be an issue.... keys to all rooms kept in a non secure location. front door doesn't close and lock unless you help it.
Review 6:'the beds were very comfortable. Noise was a bit of an issue in the front rooms. It was nice to have the breakfast baskets and the coffee was also very good. 'thanks for having us"
Review 7:The shower curtain allowed water to leak all over the floor; wifi poor. But, not a big problem to us mature adults.
Review 8:Friendly inn keeper, cosy room, great location as we could park and walk to the waterfront,
Review 9:The inn is on a corner property so at times can have some traffic noise. It does quiet down later in the night. Amenities were good-only needed a towel rack near the sink.
Review 10:the rooms had a Victorian feel that was complimented by the decor. Inn was within walking distance to center of town and had off street parking.
Review 11:Very friendly and accommodating inn-keeper When I booked for 3 people, Bookings.com did not have the ability to know that the king sized bedroom could not accomodate a cot, but thankfully she provided us with the Carriage House apartmrnt at no extea charge! Very sweet and comfy set up, wish we could have stayed longer! The basket of fresh muffins and fruit for breakfast was a nice touch as they do not serve a full breakfast like most inns do. But the not to be missed farmers market is a couple blocks away on Thursdays and you can fill up on a whole lot of goodies there.
Review 12:The utilities is too old, the washroom is very...inconvenient, the bathroom and toilet are in a soon room, the washbasin is outside the breakfast is too simple, only few toasts, two eggs...the price is too high.
Review 13:The location is good, near the downtown lunenburg
Review 14:Liked it.
Review 15:We had a great stay. Owner very welcoming and friendly. House is fantastic inside and out. Not far to walk into the heart of the town, which is a great place to walk around and explore all the beautiful old houses and shops. Breakfast was nice, but a bit of self service for the juice etc would be good, also help the poor guy serving.
Review 16:I have stayed in a fair number of B&Bs and the most important part is a hearty breakfast that lasts until well into the afternoon. The breakfast lacked imagination and heartiness - I was hungry at lunchtime. Also the place felt more formal than most B&Bs - I got the feeling that the restaurant was more important than the accommodations - maybe that is where the money is made.
Review 17:Location in Lunenburg was good.
Review 18:We found the outside door difficult to open with the key.
Review 19:Warm cosy feeling when entering, host was gracious and helpful. Felt very much at home. Lovely breakfast....not rushed.
Review 20:Started in carriage house that was just opned up. I have bad allergy problem. They moved us to main house which was fine. They set out to rectify the problem at carriage house rt away
Review 21:Besutiful old house well maintained. Best fine dining around
Review 22:We stayed in autumn so we didn't need any heating upstairs but our corner bedroom looked as though it could be cold in winter! The breakfast (run by a separate organisation) was a bit thin.
Review 23:Supremely comfortable and much better located than we thought at first. Downtown is so full of tourists that the short walk to the edge of this small town is well worthwhile. The restaurant served a good meal in the evening.
Review 24:Nothing.
Review 25:The location of this B&B is with 5 minutes walk from downtown Lunenburg. We picked this B&B because it is a historic building. Also parking is free, breakfast is delicious and staff are friendly. Price is reasonable than the Inn right in the downtown.
Review 26:The Lodge is on the corner of one of the main streets into town. As our room faced this corner it meant it was a tad noisy in the morning.
Review 27:The Lodge is just a short 5 minute walk from the main shopping streets past signs with historical information about Lunenberg. Our room was spacious with two double beds. The building is beautiful and Andrea the hostess was friendly and informative. The Lodge also houses the Bayleaf Eatery which provides excellent food. Mark served us - he too was friendly and knowledgable about the town.
Review 28:Didn't like the noise from the street late at night.
Review 29:The hosted was a delightful person who gave us information of local events and things to do and see
Review 30:We did not get two beds in our room as we had reserved. However, they were able to find us alternate rooms. We had 3 nights in one room, and then were switched to 2 separate rooms for the remaining 4 nights. We paid the originally quoted price for 7 nights in a shared room.
Review 31:Location Large rooms Friendly staff
Review 32:Once checked in no staff in sight including departure. Free breakfast was not served until 8:30 am so if you are an early riser no access to coffee because there is nothing in the room. Bathroom split into two areas in room - found it awkward and nowhere to put your stuff.
Review 33:Was within easy walking distance to waterfront
Review 34:Our room was a little warm as there is no air conditioning but that's to be expected in an historical home like this. Longer pull chains on the ceiling fan would be a good idea. Otherwise, when you use the wall switch to shut off the light, the ceiling fan shuts off too. Had to climb on a chair to use the pull chain.
Review 35:Andrea was awesome. It's clear that she pays attention to every detail and it shows. The building itself was wonderful and the location was excellent.
Review 36:Run down, and that the house is for sale doesn't make it better
Review 37:Great innkeeper. Friendly and helpful.
Review 38:A little on the pricey side.
Review 39:Location was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful!
Review 40:Wifi not working in rooms; Beds were hard and shams needed laundering
Review 41:Location
Review 42:Lovely old home just on the edge of town and very close to a walking trail. Would definitely stay there again.
Review 43:Nice inn with character. King suite was very cozy and comfortable. Host was very helpful with local attractions.
Review 44:Awesome place ! Had a very nice stay here ! Beautiful building and very friendly staff :)
Review 45:Property was unique. Owner has wonderful taste and there are interesting antiques placed all over the house.
Review 46:The inn is beautiful, the owners solicitous yet not intrusive and the location magical.
Review 47:Wifi didn't work on our floor
Review 48:Andrea is a wonderful host and the rooms are very charming and comfortable. It is a great location for Lunenburg.
Review 49:The lodge was charming, very well restored and cared for. The area was very quiet but near all landmarks and conviencces
Review 50:Wifi signal isn't good

Review 53:stood all day on concrete and looked forward to soaking in the tub at night
Review 54:great staff and breakfast. Also the recomadation for dining was great

Review 56:We had trouble opening our room with the keys provided. That said we would absolutely stay there again.
Review 57:Breakfast is very plain
Review 58:Location, and a historically well appointed house

Review 64:Nothing
Review 65:Excellent Restaurant Very friendly and helpful Staff Free and abundant Parking 5 Minutes Walk to historic town Center
Review 66:Very nice, friendly proprietor. Excellent meals & service. Clean room, comfortable bed.
Review 67:romantic suite decor was a bit plain. would just need a colored paint, maybe two tone using wainscotting. nicer curtains would do wonders too.
Review 68:Nothing to complain about:)
Review 69:The quaintness of the B&B as well as the history.
Review 70:Stairs
Review 71:Staff was excellent and building was super
Review 72:there was not enough Celiac / Gluten free options, I was told there is gluten free bread, however we understood that there was not a toaster dedicated strictly to that bread, some of us are very sensitive.
Review 73:Over all it was a pleasant stay, we slept well even though there was this high pitch noise we believe is caused by the heating system. Nothing is perfect .We had breakfast at the Inn , they tried to accommodate my Celiac condition, however it did not work because I had a reaction to whatever was in the food, it was either the eggs or the ash brown, not pleasant when you travel. I will still recommend the Inn to friends and family. I understand that catering to Celiac people can be quite costly so we appreciate what ever was done.I understand that catering to Celiac people can be quite costly so we appreciate what ever was done.
Review 74:We loved everything except most stores close by 5:00 pm. Not much happening in the evening this time of year.
Review 75:We loved the whole town. Wondering the streets and looking at all the old buildings. The fishery museum is a must and we had the best scallops at the resturant above the museum. People were all so friendly. Be sure to visit the church.
Review 76:The inn is located within walking distance of the Lunenburg waterfront. The staff are very welcoming, and the restored house is an experience in itself.
Review 77:Bluenose Lodge was a wonderful historic home converted to a B&B with an on site restaurant. Walking distance to the harbour and other restaurants and historic churches etc.
Review 78:Walking about town, window shopping, dining, especially seafood, visiting artist studios, studying the unique and colorful architecture, historically intriguing.
Review 79:Beautiful atmosphere. Clean, comfortable and charming. Friendly owner, easy check in and out. Great walking location. Delicious breakfast in the restaurant on site.
Review 80:This was the second time I stayed at the Bluenose lodge. I really enjoyed it the second time around as well as the first. My family and I stayed in the hay house and felt it was very comfortable. We shared a washroom but had two separate rooms. Our breakfast in the morning was excellent. The service was great and it's a short walk to downtown Lunenburg!
Review 81:We booked a family suite which we found was in the carriage house not the main heritage building. It was okay but I had visualized the lovely high ceilinged Victorian house and not the utilitarian building at the back. The location of the lodge is on busy streets, not within the UNESCO World Heritage Site itself, a few minutes walk. We discovered there are historic and unique heritage homes converted into bnbs within the site, which I am tempted to try if I visit Lunenburg again.
Review 82:The personal service was far beyond any expectations. Our son got stung by a bee and we had to check him out at hospital. When we got back late at the lodge we found a complimentary sandwich platter from Esther and her restaurant staff. They were concerned we would have missed dinner - which was correct. The sandwiches were really good, made even better by the kindness and caring behind their making. Lunenburgers, and Maritimers in general, are the most extraordinarily friendly and contented people anywhere in our travels in America, Asia, Europe. It's a genuine and authentic liking for and gentle interest in others, without hidden agendas. Maritimers 'make time' for you!
Review 83:Beautiful restored inn. Antiques and atmosphere.
Review 84:steam heat did not work in our room-would not raise the heat level. it was working downstairs...
Review 85:close to harbor and town can walk to all key areas.
Review 86:Nice warm feel to the place. Proprietor very gracious. Very comfortable bed and lovely breakfast in the morning.
Review 87:friendly service / victorian style
Review 88:A bit pricey.
Review 89:Heritage building. Excellent restaurant.
Review 90:comfort of room and friendliness of staff
Review 91:lock on room needs repair- very annoying
Review 92:freindly inn keeper great breakfast quiet
