Reviews for Fairmont Banff Springs
Review 1:It was New years and unfortunately the late returning patrons were as quiet as a team of oxen driven across the Hawick, Auld Brig.
Review 2:Location and view are inspiring! Rooms are small but very clean. Its Banff get out and see the sights!
Review 3:The rates are VERY expensive. You are definitely paying for the ambience of the experience and the mountain views. The rooms are NOTHING fancy at all. We upgraded to a king room with a mountain view, for an additional 40$. The room and bathroom were very small. Granted, a person does not spend much time in their room, but when you are spending 500$+, I expect to be wowed by room. We ate at the Castello Ristorante in the hotel. I ordered the crab ravioli, I counted the ravioli and there were 5! 5!! VERY small portions. Again, when spending that kind of money, I expect to be satisfied after the meal. This was not an appetizer, this was the meal. The servers were amazing and the restaurant was very quaint.
Review 4:The hotel staff were amazing. SO courteous and friendly. The hotel is amazing, you could stare at it all day. The lobby, and everything is out of a movie. Incredible.
Review 5:We found hair left behind on the bottom of the tub. We didn't report it because we were only staying one night. We chose not to use the shower and left the hair, in the hopes it would be cleaned for the next guest.
Review 6:The staff was amazing. The shops were nice and the steak entrée at the chophouse was incredible. The scenery was beautiful, too.
Review 7:Would be nice if it was closer to Banff Ave so you could walk to it in the winter. The family room was not a proper family room but a cot at the end of the bed. There was no water bottles in the vending machines nor could you buy it at the bar. We were sitting in the lounge having a coffee from the hotel coffee shop, there was only a couple of couples there and we were told we would have to leave If we did not order anything additional.
Review 8:Beautiful hotel. Nice ambience. Has covered self parking that you can come and go. The cot was a full sized bed with a box spring and mattress which was comfortable.
Review 9:I have never seen such tiny rooms for such a price you pay
Review 10:Amazing views, lovely staff, great outdoor heated pool, a complimentary gift was a nice surprise
Review 11:The bathroom in my suite was a bit tight to move around. Wouldn't work too well if there are 2 people are in it at the same time. The standard welcome pack does not include a pair of slippers but the front desk was happy to send somebody to bring them to us.
Review 12:I liked the friendly, helpful, polite staff from different area in the hotel. View was as stunning as in the room description sample pictures.
Review 13:Rundle lounge menu was a little bit disappointing. JW Foster (executive chef) should ask his chefs to improve it a little bit. ( from Russian Wolverine;) )
Review 14:Well, when you go to the mountains you want to have couple of days of silence and rest as much as possible. The best place to have rest in Banff is Fairmont Banff Springs. Since the moment you leave car and enter the hotel you can feel Fairmont hospitality and warm welcoming atmosphere. As we stayed just for one night we were offered upgrate and got amazing one bedroom suit on top floor with mountain view. Willow stream Spa is the place where you could spend week not just one day. 3 springs and mineral swimming pool that's what you need to forget about your dayli problems.
Review 15:1. Incessant dog barking at nite. Why not put the rooms of dog-owner-guests AWAY from those who did not bring their pets. Yes, I complained to concierge and front desk as did my neighbor. Dog continued to bark. 2. Not so friendly front desk helper 3. Concierge person who dissuaded my son and me from taking a ski lesson because we had not skied before. Said we would get hurt. We took the lessons regardless of his strange advise and did not get hurt.
Review 16:Loved the property and some of the staff.
Review 17:N/A
Review 18:Electronic check in and out is great. Beds are super comfortable. Beautiful facilities. Outdoor mineral pool is awesome. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend it!
Review 19:A tiny, tiny room should not run for $600 a night. As a born and raised Calgarian, I'd love it if this monumental and historically significant hotel were available to the middle class locals more than just once a year when we're able to afford it.
Review 20:I loved the ambiance in the hotel, the history, how well-maintained and preserved everything was, and the staff who made our experience incredible.
Review 21:The entire experience from beginning to end was incredible. I have stayed at Fairmont Hotels before, but I think that the Fairmont Banff Springs was the best yet. The staff was just incredible.
Review 22:The Hotel was hosting several weddings on the Sunday night that we stayed. (At least 4 that I counted) At 5:30 we had to wait over 2 hours to find a seat and be served a cocktail while waiting for a dinner reservation which was at 8:30 pm. We where not the only other non wedding guests in the same predicament. The raining weekend may not have help as outside patio where closed
Review 23:Paying as much as we did, would have thought that parking would be included. But no. Self park was an additional $30 a day. All the food was great, but not much there for a quick cheap meal. The town is a 20 min walk away. Lots of good cheap food there.
Review 24:Best part was seeing elk grazing right on the property. Great romantic getaway.
Review 25:The parking lot is a little bit far from hotel main building.
Review 26:The room is quite comfortable, and my daughter really enjoyed the bed time at night. The hotel looks like the castle outside, and the renovation inside also makes the guest feel elegant and luxury.
Review 27:Extremely expensive.
Review 28:The staff were very helpful with reservations for dinner, help with suitcases, and tips on parking. The place was very elegant and very classy. The views were spectacular. The ambiance was warm and friendly.
Review 29:Check-in process took an hour; Room was not ready at 6:30pm; Parking place so far away; Should better separate hotel guests and tourists;
Review 30:Indoor / outdoor pool; Scenery; Room with view of the Bow River
Review 31:Lunch menu was only offered at dinner, Buffet was not great for the price . It's time for rooms to get updated . Change rooms at the pool were very dirty.
Review 32:Location and grounds and atmosphere
Review 33:Overpriced for what you get, but not unexpected. The room was nice but small.
Review 34:Beautiful setting, and iconic hotel. Lots of history, and marvelous architecture.
Review 35:The room décor was disappointing for a deluxe room.Bathroom too small.
Review 36:Beautiful, hotel-exteriorly and interiorly -in common areas.Stunning.Lovely views.Easy access to downtown Banff.Staff courteous,helpful.
Review 37:Instead of a Queen or King bed the assigned room had 2 doubles, presumably to accommodate multiple family members. The result was that there were no easy chairs in the room. When I pay more than $500 Cdn. per night I expect a seating area!
Review 38:It was a gorgeous room on the corner of the main building. Staff during our stay were excellent. Our billing got mixed up and the staff post stay were great to talk to and very accommodating. Their decisions were very fair and I would definitely stay with them again
Review 39:That I payed my then my friend who was there a week before me and he got a honey moon suite $200 less the what I got a junior suite for
Review 40:Location and staff were great
Review 41:The staff were extremely helpful right from check-in to check-out. We had some small issues with our booking, which was sorted out as quickly as possible...with no drama or additional costs. The concierge assisted us with by making recommendations for dinner and making the booking for us. We were greeted with a smile and kind words everytime we walked through the lobby.
Review 42:WiFi was tricky and sms not working, something in air conditioning was super loud all night long. I am a good sleeper as I travel a lot but some other colleagues of mine couldn't sleep at all.
Review 43:I loved the staff and the view out of my window
Review 44:It was very disappointing not to be able to have a glass of wine outside in the sun at the Rundle lounge. They would only allow you to sit in the shade and could not get the gas heaters to work. Very poor management!
Review 45:The pool and spa are great!
Review 46:Paid way to much for what you get. Asked for a cot for our room but front desk said our room was to small... Sat in a lounge for over 20 minutes did not get served so got up and left. Would never stay here again.
Review 47:It was nice and quite
Review 48:The only complaint I would have is the parking, or lack there-of. Small spots, quite a walk from the hotel, few spaces and $25 a night.
Review 49:The amenities were above and beyond what I expected. The staff were all amazing, the room was beautiful, the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in! We spent more time IN the hotel than in the town!
Review 50:The bathroom was so small, not comfortable. There is no blow dryer, toothpaste and the room was so tight. I was expecting with that rate, the room is so huge because I was able to stay with some hotels and cabin in Banff with $ 200 plus rate and the room is so huge and comfortable.
Review 51:I like the staff.
Review 52:Only minus was a bit of construction going on and the steep price point for room, meals parking adds up quickly.
Review 53:Loved just about everything about this hotel. Among the best staff and facilities of any hotel I have ever stayed at!
Review 54:Had to pay for parking and there was no breakfast included for the amount of money we paid.
Review 55:Loved the outdoor pool and the outside patio The entertainment was great also.
Review 56:While the room was very neat and clean, we were disappointed in its small size and cramped, drab bathroom.
Review 57:Of course the location is epic. Every aspect of the hotel and it's staff is first rate.
Review 58:Nothing
Review 59:This is the most magical fairytale like place In have ever been, we chose to go here as we like to ski, it was very well set up for this with shuttle buses and ski storage at the hotel. The hotel itself is out of this world, as it was our honeymoon we decided to treat ourselves and stay on the gold floor...and it did not disappoint!! With the service from the staff who were all soo lovely and helpful, they couldn't do enough for us and the complimentary breakfast was to die for, everything you could ever want and more! That's only the tip of the iceberg! We will definitely be returning to the fairmont banff springs and I cannot wait!!!
Review 60:After spending $550 / night one would expect minor things to be included such as parking or wireless internet. This was not the case. They try to squeeze more money out of you at every possible opportunity. We had a meal at the grizzly paw grill as well - food was good but selections were few and service was unfriendly. Lastly the room was tiny. I've stayed in nicer rooms at holiday inns for 90/night. Overall disappointing, won't be back.
Review 61:Heated pool was very nice to relax in after a long. The view was also beautiful.
Review 62:It wasnt worth the price. Room was Very small and the inside of the castle wasnt as extravagant as i expected
Review 63:We loved the staff, very friendly but not over the top. The building was beautiful
Review 64:we loved the spa, though there was maintenance going on which should have been scheduled overnight. Staff took care of us. We also ate at the waldhaus restaurant which was fine, but not great value and a bit of a hike down the path. Most onsite dining options are pricey.
Review 65:View from our room was spectacular. Greeted with a nice bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate our anniversary. Join their club for free wifi and spa discount. Spa access is all day so get a pass on a rainy day. We stayed in early October and the crowds were minimal. Online check-in was very convenient and staff very friendly.
Review 66:That I can't afforded to to it once a month! Lol
Review 67:From the moment we arrived the staff were on their toes and welcoming. Accommodations were fantastic, Spa treatments were top notch as well as delicious GF meals, which are hard to come by.
Review 68:The value for the money. While our room was very nice, the bathroom was somewhat dated. Visitors should expect that the facility is more than just a place to spend the night.
Review 69:Ease of check-in and check-out. The classic nature of the hotel. We felt like we were in a resort that seemed like a small city.
Review 70:The Italian restaurant food wasn't very nice
Review 71:Amazing hotel plenty to see Room was stunning has a suite The bathroom was very spacious finished to a high standard
Review 72:Even given all the great things about the hotel and our stay I don't feel it was worth the money compared to other options.
Review 73:very fine staff and facilities. beautiful location and building. The staff went out of their way to return my lost binoculars to my home at no cost to me, well done.
Review 74:our room, for $500.00 was so small & convoluted very awkward ...too bad, really impacted our enjoyment...I smashed my head on a protruding wall in the night!!...rediculous
Review 75:absolutely everything else...fantastic facilities, meals,
Review 76:The price, it really is over the top, I am amazed it is so hard to get a room . I have stayed at some great hotels in other parts of the world without having to pay such a high price. It was even more expensive that Lake Louise, although I must admit the facilities were much better.
Review 77:An amazing hotel that is like a medievil castle with wonderful modern rooms. The restaurants are great food, and we love the wonderful Canadian service. Lots of great walks and the village is full of wonderful shopping.
Review 78:It was very expensive but that was to be expected. It was a once in a lifetime trip for us as this isn't a place that fits our budget but worth it.
Review 79:The building itself is very neat. A giant castle hidden in Banff. Huge with amazing staff that are incredibly helpful.
Review 80:Small baths, understand, this is a historic, special place and we worked with that. No problems ! Would go back in a heart beat!
Review 81:Everything + must stay on the 5 th floor. Having the special touch made all the difference. Breakfast was so special, worth getting up late for.
Review 82:Over all we can not find any, but if you can give the seniors some discount, that sure will help.
Review 83:The view, we talked about this every time we mentioned Lake Louis
Review 84:The room is cluttered bedframe is exposed guest get hurt bumping into the metal corner walking around the bed Mattress can be firmer The one we slept on is sagging can be replaced Need more staff at front end for checking in & out wait is too long
Review 85:The view is excellent Valet staff are very courteous and efficient
Review 86:Noisy drunkards, obnoxious people on the cell phone at tea with screaming children. Lots of late night hallway noise.
Review 87:The views, the hiking, the restaurants and the amazing setting
Review 88:Our room door was right across the elevator. It is tough to make things sound proof but there was staff talking very loud and laughing at 630am just outside our door...
Review 89:I loved the friendliness of the people and the beauty inside the hotel. Jacqui made our stay incredible!! What an amazing person she is!! Thank you so much!!!!
Review 90:Old style small rooms. In keeping with the age of the hotel but for the price we paid it could be more modern.
Review 91:Very impressive reception area. Huge hotel with shops within it. Good choice of restaurants. Excellent buffet breakfast although not included in room price. We had just got married so we were well looked after by the staff checking us in.
Review 92:If we had stayed more than one night we would have liked to use the Spa & various therapies however the prices were beyond belief !
Review 93:The reception we received was incredible, nothing was too much trouble reception had all the time in the world to show us around the facilities, tell us about the area and surest places to visit. The hotel is magnificent, the Canapé buffet laid on free for Gold customers every afternoon, free coffee, tea & cold drinks all day. The room & view were magnificent.
Review 94:A very small room
Review 95:Old world charm The view was amazing Tipping included in the price for hotel staff although stayed at to Fairmonts and found this out after we booked in at Banff
Review 96:Bad value was placed in the conference center the first night. I went on vacation to get away from those hotels I frequent for work so I felt like I was at work. Should have been informed of the change prior to arrival. Deck restaurant had poor service and the food was lukewarm when it arrived. Burger was way overcooked. Pool was emptied and closed on Monday. No doormen which is surprising for a 4 star hotel. Nice enough staff but felt like a number.
Review 97:Nice hotel in nice location but not worth the money spent
Review 98:Hotel close to everything, easy drive to sightseeing. Staff very knowledgeable on hotel history, places to see and things to do. Staff very friendly.
Review 99:Parking charge of $25 a day! Charge for the internet. The rooms are expensive enough.
Review 100:Fabulous location. Easy to get to town. Lovely views, right next to Bow Falls. Very attentive staff
Review 101:Not enough choice on children's menus in restaurants
Review 102:Good family rooms, staff very friendly and helpful
Review 103:Location and facilities made the stay very enjoyable
Review 104:Small room for the money
Review 105:Rooms extremely noisy due to bed room doors not steeled properly. Not private
Review 106:Location. Building itself. History and staff
Review 107:time : there was a threat advised that a bomb could be present on site on that day. It was the most horrible night in my life
Review 108:location
Review 109:Staff were amazing. Room was luxuriously appointed with the most amazing view ever.
Review 110:kind of too expensive

Review 112:Nothing!!
Review 113:The staff is wonderful and the property is amazing.
Review 114:To many people willing help...
Review 115:Overall enjoyable.
Review 116:Overpriced we paid 140 cad more for a view room which did not have a view
Review 117:Lounges are amazing
Review 118:Expensive, small rooms, no free wifi
Review 119:Location, atmosphere, available services, view
