Reviews for Smugglers Cove Inn

Review 1:It was no big problem as restaurants were close by But I would have preffered to be able to eat on premises especially breakfast

Review 2:The inn keeper lady was awesomely pleasant and helpful The Inn was attractive and cozy The visitors all seemed happy It was clean and quiet and well located

Review 3:No staff after 7pm until 9am. Location further from water than map indicated. With corner room advertised harbor view was of a warehouse building and fenced in dock with water slightly visible in distance even though premium paid

Review 4:Large room

Review 5:The only thing that I didn't like was that our room didn't have a view. The window was up very high!

Review 6:The staff was very friendly and helpful. I loved the location. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast next door was delicious.

Review 7:Musty unattractive room in an annex across from the main inn-bareentrance looked abandoned. Old tv didn't work well--after 20 minadjusting worked w bad reception. Loose headboards--had to put towelsbehind to prevent banging. No Hangers. Clock not working. 1 kleenex inthe box. Wrong number in the internet password--phoned someone to getthe correct password. No desk staff(arrived at 9pm)The clerk reduced the rate by $20 and did understand our disappointment.

Review 8:Not much

Review 9:One of the Desk clerks was not very accommodating. She did not want to give us one of the empty parking spots or our key because we were early for check in. There was no one in charge on site after 8:00 pm - what would happen if there was an emergency? The quality of the breakfast was mediocre for the price.

Review 10:We were able to obtain this room at a special rate.

Review 11:We had originally booked a room with two double beds and were told thatthe hotel was overbooked and were offered a "King Suite" witha king bed and a pull out sofa, which we weren't too excited aboutsince there were 4 adults but were told that it had a beautiful waterView and so we accepted...well this water view was acquired by going tothe very end of the balcony (in front of someone else's room Imight add) and leaning way out over the railing and there was a tinyview of the water. Also...Each morning we woke up and pulled thecurtains only to find a stranger sitting directly in front of our patiodoor smoking and reading the paper (Leaving ashes and cigarette buttseverywhere). Therefore, we did not feel comfortable even opening thecurtains in our own room.

Review 12:The location was perfect!

Review 13:Our breakfast service on our first morning was terrible... We sat for 15 minutes and no one even asked if we wanted coffee. We left without ordering and went to another. The second morning, after we spoke to reception about the previous day, was slightly better but food was undercooked and sparse. We were told our breakfast would be complimentary because of the morning before, but our waitress had no idea.. I didn't have a great experience here and this was our first time staying at this establishment in our last 5 years of coming to Lunenburg. If we to return to your business, and you want to keep us as guests, I would suggest you refund my two nights accomadations costs to me and book us two nights for the same dates next year. We will gladly pay for next year but if our experience is The same, we will NOT return! Please let me know !

Review 14:The front reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our bed was comfortable and our room was clean and there was plenty of space.

Review 15:The thing that was really unpleasant was the fact that when we booked we were told that there was a balcony with ocean view... the balcony was on the side of the building that had no view and the garbage from the eatery next door smelled so bad we could not go on the balcony or even open the window for fresh air. There was no parking reserved for the Inn's guests and were told there was a parking lot across the boardwalk side that we had to pay for and it just didn't make sense for someone with a mobility issue.

Review 16:I liked the fact that we could go walk on the boardwalk near the Bluenose ship .And see the horse drawn wagon ride.

Review 17:Wifi connection was spotty, but reception was ok in the sitting area on our floor.

Review 18:The staff was outstanding--from the woman at the desk who was so friendly and helpful, to the maids who kept everything spotless!

Review 19:parking rare, toilet pipes accross ceiling room no screen covering external window, air conditionning not functionning,no balcony

Review 20:well situated,staff friendly

Review 21:room was dark and not attractively furnished. no breakfast included. nothing was unacceptable and met our needs.

Review 22:great location. helpful staff overall.

Review 23:You could not park between 10am and 5pm. No assigned parking with the hotel. It was doable.

Review 24:Location was perfect. Paid washer and dryer available. Staff, very friendly.

Review 25:Breakfast was not included. Parking is a bit of a problem. We needed to put money in the meter every couple of hours during the day. Nights were free.

Review 26:Room was very nice, comfortable bed; good shower; wonderful location. Staff was very helpful

Review 27:The wifi didn't work except for a few hours on our second day of a 3 days stay. The staff tried to solve the problem, without success.

Review 28:Location was great, staff was nice, room was clean and comfy.

Review 29:Breakfast was very limited. Were given discount vouchers for breakfast in adjoining restaurant but there were only 3 choices. The menu did state that more would be available in time but not on the day we were there

Review 30:Location We were relocated to other rooms when a/c in our room did not work because of missing adapter.

Review 31:Very comfortable, spacious room in a well located hotel, with none of the fussy phoney knick-nacky decor usually forced on you in 'historic' locations.

Review 32:We were given breakfast coupons for the restaurant next door. We did eat there but 10 dollars for a small dish of yogurt and muesli was grossly overpriced !

Review 33:The hotel is in a superb location, the teception is friendly and I particularly liked the quality of the mattresses and the soft cotton sheets and duvet covers.

Review 34:We had quite a dark room with only one window which couldn't be opened on our first night. When we asked for a lighter more airy room they moved us to a lovely bright much nicer room with no fuss. It was great to be able to do our washing.

Review 35:Street parking only. Not convenient if you have to haul your luggage any distance.

Review 36:Convenient location. Within walking distance of waterfront attractions and eateries.

Review 37:Back in the day the real smugglers would have fought tooth and nail to get one of the rooms at Smugglers Cove Inn! Its location, staff and room comfort were 10 out of 10 excellent. From front desk Connie to all staff they were beyond helpful & knowledgeable, the breakie was yummy, the room lovely and WOW - Lunenburg rocks when you are so close to the action ! Well done Smugglers !

Review 38:Loved the hotel and its location, very convenient. Anne at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our visit and wished we were staying longer.

Review 39:There wasn't anything to dislike.

Review 40:The staff was very friendly and welcoming. It was close to everything we wanted to see. The restaurant connected to the inn had a good menu and staff were very friendly.

Review 41:Room AC was older window model and did not cool very well. Suggest upgrading to European type.

Review 42:Pet friendly. Comfortable bed. Walking distance to all attractipns.

Review 43:The staff were very helpful explaining parking so that we would not be subject to fines. The room was very spacious, with comfy bed and good size bathroom. Lounge area available on each floor with magazines to browze.

Review 44:no onsite parking though out of season not an issue no meals available on site for lunch or dinner

Review 45:good location near UNESCO waterfront excellent reception staff clean comfortable room

Review 46:The Smugglers Cove Inn is situated directly in the historic old town ofLunenburg. There are lovely houses around the hotel and the mainattractions are just a footstep away from the hotel. The staff and check-in is totally friendly and was really nice. Everything was fast and we felt quite good. The rooms are a little bit small and looked old - wasn´t bad, but the price was pretty high for a night over there - should be a little bit modern. WIFI didn´t work in the room, all guests were in the Lobby to use WIFI. there is free WIFI in the whole old town so I used that account, which worked quite well. For breakfast you get an 3 CAD voucher for the nearby Restaurant next door. The breakfast was really good. parking is possible on the back street for free, in front of the hotel it´s also possible for a couple CAD, during the night for free till 10 a.m.!

Review 47:Small shower, small bathroom without shelf space for toiletries, road noise, basic tv, no frills room for a fancy room price (but all places in Lunenburg seem this way.) Beautiful town but starts to feel like a tourist trap after day 1

Review 48:Comfy bed, good quality towels, good location, clean room

Review 49:Neighbour's noisy air conditioner. Even with the room a/c switched off, the room was noisy and delayed sleep. Other rooms may be better.

Review 50:Friendly staff, great location

Review 51:Still a bit pricey Lacking charm and coziness Cheap Mattress and Linens Room not cleaned during 2 night stay

Review 52:Clean Bright Decor Friendly Staff Excellent location

Review 53:Charming, Perfect location, Friendly staff, Easy check-in/out, Adjacent restaurant very convenient for breakfast, which was excellent every day, with warm and friendly staff.

Review 54:The owners also own a number of restaurants in town ( which are good) to which we were recomended without knowing they were owned by the same people.

Review 55:Very helpfully staff and good facilities for travelers

Review 56:Our own fault not asking but we were booked for a room with balcony and ended up with no balcony looking at roof and parking side street Realized once we were in our room but at that point too tired to go back and ask Again our own fault but was right in booking

Review 57:Able to walk everywhere from hotel Very helpful at front desk

Review 58:Lack of parking. Loud air conditioner. No bar soap in bathroom, only bottle of SoftSoap used by other guests. If you're security conscious, be aware: the front door is unlocked all night and reception staff leaves at 8 pm.

Review 59:Great location near the waterfront. Very comfortable beds. One of the cleanest, if not THE cleanest, places I have ever stayed.

Review 60:Lots of stairs, OK for me, but older travellers might be challenged. No staff at night, no free breakfast, only street parking with pay meters. Workout room was under construction and not usable.

Review 61:Location was good, comfy bed.

Review 62:Property is a little dated and could use a refresh, but that really didn't put us off regarding our visit. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Review 63:Staff was wonderful. In particular, Karen at the front desk. She spent a lot of time with us, gave us the locals' insider tips about Lunenburg, and was overall friendly and considerate. The breakfast on the property restaurant was excellent and kept us satisfied for the day (wonderful eggs Benedict) Location of the inn is perfect, situated tight in the center of town.

Review 64:only parking on street but town is UNESCO site so very old.

Review 65:Great location downtown near shops. Nice sheets and towels, good bed. Great restaurant in hotel and had great breakfast. Food was good.

Review 66:The room was small and very old. I kept hitting my head on the beam---I am not tall (the beams were at a 45 degree angle). Some of the electrical outlets were not working.

Review 67:The location was good. The restaurant for breakfast was very nice.

Review 68:A NIGHT OF" "ARTHURS TEARS" OTHER THAN THAT A GREAT STAY...

Review 69:LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION FRIENDLY COURTIOUS,KNOWLEDGEABLE,EFFICIENT CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE... C'EST TOUS

Review 70:Booked a room with a balcony overlooking waterfront. Very deceiving information on line. This is not a waterfront hotel. First we we're put in a small back room with no view. Finally they moved us to another room with a small balcony but minimal view. Advertising is deceiving.
