Reviews for Village Country Inn

Review 1:Owners were moody. At times very friendly and at other times downright rude. At most facilities the lounge area is for use for anyone at anytime but when my husband came down and requested a coffee the owners appeared to have a private function on and my husband was told that he was interrupting their time. (My husband is a very friendly person and most people take an instant liking to him.) The breakfast was advertised as light which was fine but we noticed that the muffins were not replenished as guests arrived. At one point there was no coffee and when one of the guests inquired, the owner replied in an annoyed tone, "it's coming." The place is dated which may add to the country charm in some people's opinion. The bathroom had an extremely noisy fan making conversation impossible.

Review 2:The view of the mountains from the room was beautiful. The bed was comfortable. The room was cozy with a bay window and wide wooden slat blinds. There was a table and two extra chairs.

Review 3:Ice machine not accessible had to order ice before 7:00 pm . More like a bed and breakfast without the breakfast. Sheets were stained.

Review 4:Bed was comfortable.

Review 5:No bathtub. Just a shower Room was on the main floor and we could hear all the conversations in the main office down the hall. Carpet was stained in places with some cigarette burns. Could use a good steam cleaning.

Review 6:Located a few blocks away from the main highway, so not as noisy wrt traffic. Room & decor were very nice. Comfortable king size bed. Quiet once the front desk staff departed for the night.

Review 7:We didn't realize there was a set check-in time and we were an hour late. The owner was not very happy and didn't hesitate to show it.

Review 8:It was a beautiful, homey room. The decor was very nice and I also liked that it's wheelchair accessible.

Review 9:It was very quiet and very clean! It felt like what home away from home should feel like - it was very welcoming. I loved the decor of the tea room/common area. It was almost like a mini-museum. There was a gallery featuring paintings for sale by local artists. I would definitely stay there again.

Review 10:The staff didn't seem overly inclined to be friendly or helpful. The room smelled of vinegar and old dampness. The flower print sheets, bedding and towels were very old and worn out. The pillows smelled of other people. The carpet was stained. The decor was tacky and out dated.

Review 11:Coffee, yogurt and muffins were offered in the morning

Review 12:Great place to stay; had a bed and breakfast feel to it. Room was a good size, bathroom was a bit on the small side however totally serviceable. Close to the main highway and our host provided an excellent recommendation for evening dining. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 13:We felt that the hosts at this inn were less than enthusiastic and the linens were very worn. There was an unpleasant odor in our room. The furniture in the lounge was also tired. We were disappointed.

Review 14:My only complaint was that the bed was a bit hard however that certainly would not preclude me from staying again!

Review 15:The owner was very friendly and walked us through to the room, then showed us the rear entrance to use after hours. He was genuinely kind and courteous!

Review 16:Limited breakfast, if you want a meal before leaving for the day.

Review 17:Friendly, sincere service. Easy-to-find location. Very comfortable, clean room. Cozy, homey place.

Review 18:The bed is old and uncomfortable. And the breakfast is a simple Continental that could be improved greatly with something as simple as a home-made muffin.

Review 19:The owners are lovely and welcoming and the location is excellent.

Review 20:On arriving the hostess didn't even welcome us, just gave us a rant giving out about Booking.com. We told her we always go with them and would not have known that you exist without them. She ignored us for the two days and we felt very unwelcome. Her husband was nicer. Stay away.

Review 21:Staying at the Country Inn was a wonderful experience. The rooms are wonderful and give more of a B&B feeling than a motel/hotel. No generic white sheets and towels here. Staff was very friendly and out going.

Review 22:Atmosphere was so calming with no noise. Outside sitting from our room was nice to enjoy a glass of wine. Inside front entrance a wonderful place to relax in comfortable chairs with coffee in the morning. Close to eateries and shopping that you could walk.

Review 23:The quietness of the place, the sheets were heavenly, the morning coffee excellent. Fern and Graham were so warm. The big horn sheep werean added bonus.

Review 24:This is a wonderful surprise in an industry dominated by cheap plastic fixtures and fittings. Victorian in structure, and fitted out in detailed fashion to match. Unlike many venues that attempt to appear "old-style" and end up looking artificial, this inn has a feeling of genuineness about it. Well done - a pleasant and comfortable experience.

Review 25:except the new type of bed cover. I stepped on the corner of it , and almost tumbled . The old type, Bedspread is much safer for people.

Review 26:We liked everything

Review 27:Be very mindful of the later check in time. When we called to ask about flexibility, the owner started to lecture me. It wasn't necessary, we can understand peoples' situations. That would have been the end of it but upon arriving, the owner was very stand-offish and abrupt. I feel that perhaps she is going through a difficult time, but her unwelcoming presence was very unexpected and unwanted.

Review 28:We loved the location, and the quaintness of the property! Very clean and an excellent mattress!

Review 29:nothing really we enjoyed our stay

Review 30:The homely inn style accomodation suited us. Rooms were clean warm and inviting. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Review 31:Fern, her warmth of hospitality, her helpfulness in offering dinner choices, directions to our destination in Calgory printing off a street map. Nothing was too much bother. And het inn was just charming and delightful.

Review 32:The room heater was exceptionately large for such a small room and was very noisy when it turned on waking me one many occasions.

Review 33:Easy to find, very clean room friendly staff gorgeous setting.

Review 34:Fireside tea shop sold only teas. Was looking forward to purchasing tea-related items. Would have preferred to purchase full breakfast. Breakfast purchase was advertised but unavailable off season.

Review 35:Cozy, quiet peaceful spot for re-acquainting with old friends. Complimentary morning muffins & tea for off-season travellers.

Review 36:Breakfast is continental but would prefer a greater variety of yogurts, fruits , breads etc

Review 37:The Village Country Inn is a quaint inn away from the traffic of highway. It is close to the Radium Hot Springs which always a lovely retreat for anyone's body.

Review 38:My wife and I were looking for a quiet place to celebrate our anniversary and this lovely place did not disappoint. We stayed in the kootney suite. What a fantastic room. The owners are very cheerful and helpful. We didn't get a chance to take advantage of the tea room, but I can tell you the smell of freshly baked goods is ever present. It's like visiting grandma's. One final note, don't miss out on visiting Casa Vino while you're here. It is literally a two minute walk down the street.

Review 39:The owners were not overly friendly and were not able to answer the questions that we had very well.

Review 40:The location and the surrounding nature was great.

Review 41:There was nothing about our holiday,or the facility that we did not enjoy.

Review 42:Quiet atomosphere Comfortable beds Hospitable owners Local wildlife (sheep;deer) Proximity to excellent restaurants and hot pools.

Review 43:My 15 year old daughter and I stayed there together. We enjoyed tea in our room by the window looking out at the mountains. The room was immaculate! It was so comfortable. It felt like staying with family. Would recommend it to anyone of all ages! So personal and quaint

Review 44:The only thing that would have been helpful is a tip to book a reservation for dinner, Not a huge thing but we did not realize that the restaurants would be so booked.

Review 45:Everything was very clean and homey feeling. We appreciated all the information that they told us.

Review 46:For the money, a continental breakfast should be included. The morning staff shpuld at least be able to make coffee.

Review 47:Check in was handled very well. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent location. Very comfprtable.

Review 48:Was a bit pricy, but the whole town was sold out so it was understandable. Carpets had some noticeable stains. Other than that nothing to complain about this little gem.

Review 49:Rooms were big, had HD tv's, very clean, very cozy. Receptionist was very friendly and informative on how to work the doors (front is locked at 8:00pm but can open back door with keys given.) He also was very good at kind of giving us an idea where to have breakfast as it wasn't included. It did look like you could buy some quick muffins and pastries if needed.

Review 50:We enjoyed the owners they were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. It was clean and quiet and the bed was very comfortable. We would stay there again.

Review 51:No complaints or criticisms

Review 52:Fern has a great sense of humor and made us feel right at home. The room was very nice, and we appreciated the warning to make sure the back door was closed tightly as there is a skunk who likes to come inside. She recommended an amazing Austrian restaurant. The meal alone would have been well worth the trip. A great place to stay.

Review 53:More coffee available in room. On cup (small pot) is insufficient. Perhaps a Tassimo machine and variety of coffees

Review 54:Very pleasant and quaint place to stay. Very quiet and well kept

Review 55:Everything was perfect!!

Review 56:I loved the intimacy of this inn. Both Fern and Graham were excellent hosts. The room was cozy. I loved we had our own entrance and exit. The bed was so comfortable. Usually I like a bath but it was no problem since the Hot Springs was 5 minutes away! So very comfortable and cozy. It was quiet and relaxing. I would highly recommend to anyone considering a visit to Radium.

Review 57:- no front counter staff if late arrival, have to call ahead - no staff in lobby / front counter before 8:00 am ... need to phone if need assistance. -has tables and chairs like a restaurant, but can only get continental type breakfasts, etc. No hot meals served here, have to go else where. - looks like a B&B which is great, but is in fact as small hotel. Given that, seems strange not to offer much in the way of a broader menu ... or to have late evening / early morning staff.

Review 58:- exterior and design of building; nice victorian look "home". -Staff, when around, were very courteous and accomodating. - great room, comfy bed, nice patio door onto private, tree shaded deck shared with other guests.

Review 59:It would be very nice if breakfast was provided as part of the overall cost. It is inconvenient to have to search for a breakfast when you are travelling on.

Review 60:The room was extremely comfortable and quiet. There was plenty of space and the ensuite shower room was very clean. The owner, Fern was very friendly.

Review 61:Need a fridge in the room. Nice to have a window open...too stuffy in there. I would like more towels and some ashtrays outside. thanks

Review 65:A charming village Lodge with a Victorian flair. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the personal touches of hand crocheted items made you feel right at home. A Lovely place to stay

Review 66:The room was so clean and beautifully furnished. The bathroom was large and very nice. The hosts were very accommodating and cheerfully helped us change our reservations.

Review 67:The receptionist was a bit over the top when we accidentally entered a staff only area to get ice. The tiny sign was on a teddy bear so not very visible. She was friendlier as we were leaving. Maybe she had a hard day?

Review 68:Location, cleanliness were good. Parking was very good. We would go back.
