Reviews for Boscawen Inn

Review 1:This was an Inn rather than a B&B so the intimacy you would find at a good B&B wasn't the same. You just need to know that going in.

Review 2:Phenomenal view with great deck overlooking the harbor. Old world charm - comfortable rooms.

Review 3:The room was not cleaned well. In our closet there were two shopping bags, one with dried out bagels, the other with garbage. Under the bed was used Kleenex.

Review 4:The breakfast room was very nice with a lovely vies. The sitting room was also nice. The location was nice with the harbour just a stroll away.

Review 5:Cleanliness was an issue. The shower head had black mould all over it. The drain was full of lumps of hair, the sink needed a good scrub. We sat at a table that hadn't been tidied away yet for breakfast and instead of removing the table cloth the female inn keeper attempted to rub the dirt into it. She eventually gave up and changed the cloth! The sausages at breakfast were stone cold and needed to be replaced. They tasted as if they had sat out for a day. Nobody showed us how breakfast worked and we waited for toast to arrive only to be told it was self service and for the area to be pointed out to us. The bed was terrible and rickety. When my partner moved in the night or visa versa it would wake the other person up it was lacking such support. Overall not great value for money, there are far cheaper options around.

Review 6:The view, the male inn keeper, the plush carpet, powerful shower, the wifi, proximity to waterfront

Review 7:We would have liked a small fridge and a microwave in the room.

Review 8:Had an excellent view of the bay and wharf. Walking distance to everywhere in town. Quaint and authentic surroundings in the Inn. No odors that would suggest moulds or mildews because of the humidity. It was very clean.

Review 9:Poor breakfast service with not enough put out when the hotel is full. Bathroom very small with weather cheap fixtures given the hotel price.

Review 10:Great location right in the middle of the historic district

Review 11:Very steep stairs to our room on the third floor.

Review 12:The beautiful location overlooking the bay; the attentive and caring staff, comfortable facilities, close to everything.

Review 13:No bad experience just think the bathroom could be more updated and new.

Review 14:Loved the bedroom and the view. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was so friendly. Lunenburg is a wonderful place to stay!!!

Review 15:Johnathon made us feel like royalty. It was one of our favorite B & B's ever! Wonderful people, beautiful view, clean comfortable beds and yummy breakfasts served in a beautiful dining room.

Review 16:Absolutely nothing.

Review 17:Gorgeous authentic antique interiors, wonderful hosts, beautiful view from breakfast room! Very walkable to everything in the town. Highly recommend this inn!

Review 18:Room is small but that is to be expected in a property of this age-

Review 19:Location- the deck outside was lovely to sit on and have a drink or enjoy coffee in the AM

Review 20:Loved the location, our room was beautiful, and we had an amazing view of the harbour. Beautiful inn and the staff were great, we will go again for sure!

Review 21:TheInn was beautiful inside and out. The location was a couple of streets up from the water ,so just a short walk to the dockside, very accommodating staff, very welcoming ..we were offered a cup of tea or coffee upon our arrival, which was very nice, had it out on the deck!

Review 22:There was nothing we didn't like

Review 23:Very quaint, very clean, excellent location. We just loved this place an definitely will return. They also have an amazing deck with a great view

Review 24:We loved our stay here. The rooms are lovely and the owners are awesome. They really want you to enjoy yourself and provide great recommendations on things to do and places to eat.

Review 25:Warm welcome on arrival. Hosts were very friendly throughout our visit. Gave good suggestions for places to visit and eat. Lovely clean room. Relaxed atmosphere. Convenient for harbour front and eating places.

Review 26:Towels were limited and small, coffee filters the wrong size, and no supper available at the Inn.

Review 27:Beautiful view, friendly staff, close to all shopping and restaurants.

Review 28:Room was comfy and large and good value too. Breakfast was wonderful. Staff helpful and efficient. Elegant stairway and beautiful deck overlooking the town and harbour.

Review 29:Water only lukewarm and not warm enough for a complete shower. VERY slow drainage in sink. A warm breakfast on at least one of the days I was there would have been appreciated.

Review 30:Very friendly and courteous staff. Beautiful place; historically interesting; conveniently located (I was attending Music Festival in Church next door). Especially great bed.

Review 31:They had new cable TV service which wasn't working well in our room. However, I didn't mention it until the last day, but when I did they responded immediately to try to fix it. Breakfast was good, but little change from day to day.

Review 32:Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely, I especially liked the spaciousness of it. Location of the Inn in the town was great. Parking was easy. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of a big city, but still have great access to nearby restuarants and a wonderful view, this is the place to stay.

Review 33:Can't think of anything.

Review 34:Location, proximity to everything, references from John and Judy about where to eat, shop, etc. We were given a larger room with more than one bed once we realized I'd mistakenly chosen the wrong one. Great breakfast. Spectacular view from every window. Amazing artifacts throughout the Inn. Fascinating history. We felt very welcome here.

Review 35:Tiny bathroom Staff at breakfast were ice-cold. No acknowledgement or even a good morning.

Review 36:Walking distance to everything Great deck Beautiful property Comfortable bed 'Rachel'

Review 37:No elevator - but the staff would carry your luggage

Review 38:History Friendly staff Lounge area and deck is very nice Buffet breakfast - a little better than continental

Review 39:The windows in our bedroom did not open so while we could see the water, we were unable to breathe the fresh sea air. Also, found the old bathtub some what limiting.

Review 40:The room was great....huge in fact. Good light, great views, close to the sights & restaurants. Breakfast in the morning provided variety and was plentiful enough to carry us through early afternoon. While we only interacted with the staff at the front desk, they were very knowledgeable about the area and gave us excellent advice for each day of our stay. Overall a great value for anyone looking for a comfy vacation.

Review 41:Nothing!!

Review 42:Beautiful Inn. We had a water view room, lovely. Hosts very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Close to lots of restaurants. Try the Savvy Sailor!

Review 43:Didn't much see attraction of Lunenberg. No criticism of hotel.

Review 44:Hosts were delightful, hot breakfast excellent, room was comfortable, AC was a strange in-room machine but we understand they are working to improve AC-but they had it! Excellent restaurant recommendation for dinner.

Review 45:Well-informed, compassionate innkeeper. My husband and I were both recovering from seasickness when we arrived, and she had traveled on the same Nova Star Ferry as we did from Portland to Yarmouth and had the same dreadful experience, so she had empathy. She recommended the perfect place to eat later that evening after we'd rested in the lovely turret room I'd chosen. Perfect air, perfect breeze through the window, perfect view, perfect bed, perfect comfort. Peace and tranquility. I hope to travel there again and stay longer in Lunenburg and in that room in that inn.

Review 46:Three levels of stairs to get back to our room from breakfast meant we could dispense with our morning walk.

Review 47:Proximity to the events of the Folk Harbour Festival. The breakfast and the the room it was served in and the coffee ... and the staff. The view ... the view ... the view.

Review 48:For a B & B we felt breakfast was sparse. We generally go to B & Bs and find a hearty breakfast allows us to avoid wasting time searching for mid-day meals and this was not the case would recommend putting overhead expenses into food and not linen tablecloths.

Review 49:Very homey. Facilities included outdoor deck to view Lunemberg Harbor was magnificent. Could sit out there all day and relax. Excellent way to wind down after a full day of sightseeing

Review 50:Can't think of a negative.

Review 51:Great views from the terrace. Room was comfy and blackout shades made it very sleep friendly. Breakfast was good, cool area which I didn't see the night before. Interesting and friendly hosts.

Review 52:Not all the rooms have AC yet. They are working on it however. We had a fan and that was enough. I would ask for a room with it in the future. But hey I took the cheapest room !,, you get what you pay for!,

Review 53:Excellent service and support., Ginny helped me find a safe place for my motorcycle. Rachel was wonderful company. Breakfast was awesome. The view from the deck is outstanding. We had tea and water. Beer and wine was available

Review 54:Not kid friendly for an energetic 7 year old boy. The staff were good, offered dessert for free. But I was afraid my son would break something! Lots of antiques.

Review 55:Wonderful staff, excellent service and clean inn.

Review 56:The owners and staff are wonderfully accommodating and the inn is beautifully situated for walking and enjoying the picture-perfect town. We were so pleased with our stay! Already planning a return visit.

Review 57:Loved everything!!!

Review 58:We loved it all!! Breakfast was wonderful, atmosphere great, within walking distance to everything & the owners are great hosts.

Review 59:The breakfast left something to be desired. The only hot items were crispy (burnt) bacon and poached eggs which continued to cook as they were left in a bain-marie, leaving them overcooked.

Review 60:My wife and I got an upgrade to the turret suite which was magnificent! Excellent location just a few minutes walk from the wharf. The staff were friendly and helpful. Free parking beside the inn too.

Review 86:Location off the busy downtown, so peaceful. Lovely view to the harbor and a terrace! Architecture interesting.

Review 87:Our South African Host was very friendly & sociable - came across as a great guy. Also enjoyed the terrace.

Review 88:Too much light coming in through the hallway for sleeping, bed was good but not spectacular

Review 89:Fabulous property, lovely staff, very hospitable

Review 90:everything was perfect in all aspects, and nothing could be said or fault found at the inn,and I would recommend it highly.

Review 103:Bed was hard and no fruit at breakfast (just spoiled apples).
