Reviews for Inns of Banff

Review 1:Without a car its a decent walk into town when its -9 degrees. Maybe having a pickup option from the greyhound station would help. Also most hotels in the area include breakfast instead of charging extortionate prices just for a cereals and toast!

Review 2:Paid extra at checkin for the bigger room with a view. Unfortunately couldnt see anything since the windows frosted over and the patio was thick with snow but the room was spacious and clean and near to the pool so happy overall.

Review 3:We had bedbug bites all over by the end of our stay and had to leave all our clothes and luggage outside of our house for a week when we came back then boil it all in hot water to kill them.

Review 4:The room was very nice and clean, the hotel was close to everything, overall a really good experience.

Review 5:I didn't like the Swiss village because it was so loud at night because of all the people partying. The beds were very uncomfortable. Next time I will not stay in Swiss village.

Review 6:I like the indoor outdoor pools

Review 7:Noisy, disrespectful guests both nights. Small beds, stains on carpet, abrupt receptionists, poor + disorganized and even dangerous parking options. Not a good place

Review 8:It was cheap in price and the location was good

Review 9:We didn't like that there was no microwave in our room so ifthere's kids you can warm them up food to eat. Our room didn'tget cleaned for 2 days and when I asked them to do it while we were out, still not done. I had to tell them while we were in the pool. Also thepools are old and need updating and especially cleaned! There were grossthings on the bottom of the inside pool I felt with my feet. Their menuin the rooms didn't look very appealing and pricey therefore we wentelsewhere. Especially when you have children. Also there was youngpeople running up and down the halls until 4 am with the music thumpingsooooo loud nobody slept, and the staff didn't stop it.

Review 10:I liked the fact there were the pools for the children

Review 11:Bathrooms have no fans, it would be nice to have some real coffee cream in the fridge instead of powder one which is just very unhealthy.

Review 12:We liked the hot pool outdoors, sauna and breakfast smoothie at wild grill. Beds are jumpy but comfortable.

Review 13:Did not like the maze of corridors and walkways. Too many parties going on with large groups drinking with room doors open and kids running around unchecked. Also had a small dog barking in room next to us which was obviously left unattended. We also have a dog(not with us in hotel) so didn't mind too much but they really should not be left alone. Did not think the room was very clean and the coffee maker was so dirty I couldn't use it.

Review 14:The insulation of our room was so poor that we can hear the baby crying next door the whole night. We never expected not to have a fridge in our room. We thought that was a pretty standard appliance in a simple room. The swimming pool water was really cold. We couldn't swim at all.

Review 15:Needed better parking. Would have liked the option for a microwave and or fridge. The bathroom needed a fan. Wasn't a fan of the bar or resteraunts in the hotel and there was no midday room service.

Review 16:Liked the size of the room, beds were comfy, staff was friendly, the transit stops were right across the street. Liked our private balcony. We were in the Swiss village section, which was much nicer than the main hotel part.

Review 17:The hotel was great the reception staff let the hotel down on check out. The staff in the bar were nothing short of rude and inept .

Review 18:Location Outdoor and indoor pools

Review 19:Its like a maze trying to get to places inside the hotel. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest. They CHARGE a fee when you bring your pet, I like that they were pet friendly but be pet friendly and don't charge people a arm and a leg. And you aren't aloud to leave your pet alone. Who comes to Banff and wants to stay at the hotel with your dog.

Review 20:Outdoor hot tub was lovely. The beds were comfortable. The restaurant was awesome. Their breakfast buffet was fabulous.

Review 21:Room not cleaned some days despite request, had to call for clean towels which took a long time to come, towels were torn and threadbare, could all do with replacing. You can get a free bus pass to get into town from reception, but this info was not offered at check in, we found out by accident after a few days....they should just give you the pass at check in so you have the option to use it.

Review 22:Large hot tub, good choice for breakfast

Review 23:Outdated , bathroom was not very clean, there was some hair from the previous guest at the toilet. one of the mattresses was mangled

Review 24:Friendly staff, Location and outdoor hot tub

Review 25:Our Bathroom was very small

Review 26:The outdoor hot pool is great. Restaurant food is pretty good. Good location not being right in the middle of town. Overall good hotel for a good price

Review 27:Staff had no knowledge of ski hills ot attractions in town. They tried to charge us extra money to find out they didnt enter it into their computer correctly.

Review 28:The location, and the pools

Review 29:The indoor pool was a bit dingy and there was a strong mold smell when you ran the sinks too long and in the resteraunt when the heat kicked on.

Review 30:Roof pool was nice and very comfy beds! Great assortment of different pillow sizes. Also that the roof pool has a big circular area seperated from the lengthwise area so I found it very kid accommodating even when it was packed because the adults took to the back pool area and the steam made a separating wall.

Review 31:Nothing :)

Review 32:There were 2 very best parts. There was the front/south end supervisor. I can't not rennet her name but she has dark longer hair. She was fantastic! So wise about her area and hotel. She was a pleasure to deal with and while training a new girl her patients was awesome! The second best thing was the Brie and balcony from my room! Thank you for a great stay!

Review 33:The walls are pretty thin so you can hear pretty much everything from next suite. It gets a little bit of annoyed if people are talking loudly late at night.

Review 34:Overall good stay.

Review 35:Walls are paper thin and you can hear anything that goes in the hallway and a bit of your neighbours. However, I found the hotel pretty quiet at night. The building is quite older and I did notice small things that needed to be repaired, but just the vanity of the hotel room really. Found the rooms to be a bit dark even with the 3 lamps. Parking by the B building is quite slippery as well.

Review 36:Good for the price. Was looking for a room to stay in while exploring/going out. The beds were comfortable. Hotel was pretty quiet at night. Good location - walking distance to the downtown strip. The outdoor heated pool was quite nice (you can't drink at the pool). If you're looking for a room to just stay in to sleep while touring Banff, this is a good place to stay.

Review 37:The TV in our room was not working properly. Tried changing channels on the TV itself but did not work. Remote was not working either. Called the front desk and they said that someone would be up to fix it. 45 minutes later and no one showed up. Ended up just calling down to cancel.

Review 38:Friendly staff, clean rooms.

Review 39:Our room was very old and definitely not properly cleaned, especially the bathroom. Pool was dirty and rundown.

Review 40:The location was great. Staying right in the town of Banff was nice.

Review 41:The strict rules and early closing time of the outdoor pool. There's no reason some adults can't have a couple drinks in the hot pool. Advertise for kids only so people aren't tricked into thinking they can actually have fun.

Review 42:Liked the location

Review 43:Room was too hot - thermostat didn't appear to make a difference. Room was poorly maintained (bath hot tap not working, TV remote not working) Other noisy clientele woke us up between midnight and 3am on both nights despite wearing earplugs. Untreated ice patches in car park were dangerous - my husband slipped over just walking from the car. Parking was very tight for a truck and not assigned so difficult to get a spot. Bears Den had no atmosphere - not even the fire was turned on.

Review 44:The outdoor Hot Tub was nice and hot (shame it took half an hour to find and the changing facilities were horrible so I had to walk across a freezing car park wrapped in a towel) Breakfast was delivered promptly and was tasty and good value. Food at the Bears Den was also good.

Review 45:We booked a three bedroom condo. When we arrived the three bedroom was really two and a half. This resulted in way less sleep for myself because the bunk bed room (with my older children) was inside the second bedroom (that had my baby in it) so when one of my older children coughed or went to the bathroom at night they woke the baby up. If you have to go through one bedroom to get to the third bedroom can you really call it a bedroom? Looking at the design of the place they did this to avoid putting a window in the third bedroom. Disappointed and feeling a bit cheated.

Review 46:The staff are super friendly and accommodating

Review 47:The room was not very clean. We stayed for two nights. Upon arriving, the door to get into our room was broken as we had trouble getting in and out of the room. We ran out of toilet paper and Kleenex after the first night. No one made up the beds after the first night or replenished our supplies. The hallways were super noisy and people were coming in at all hours yelling and waking everyone up.

Review 48:Cleanliness - I would suggest the facility might want to vacuum the carpets occasionally.... not done in the 3 days we were there - particularly in hallways and lobby.

Review 49:The location was ok... however was about a 15 minute walk from downtown. Beds were very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 50:The Cost, compared to other resorts was very expensive for the accommodations. Was VERY disappointed we were not aloud to take our beverages into the outdoor hot tub! We ONLY switched resorts from Hidden Ridge (this is an annual ladies weekend, our 5th annual) as we were told we could have beverages in the out door hot tub.

Review 51:We stayed a 3 bedroom condo. The size and ammeneties of the condo were perfect.

Review 52:The room was VERY dirty. The bathroom door looked like mud had splashed all over it and not been cleaned in months. The dresser had visible dirt (not just dust) on it and was just overall not very clean.

Review 53:The location is great, just a little bit out of the main centre but we enjoyed the walk. The outdoor hot pool is a definite highlight - one night we had it all to ourselves for nearly 2 hours. Could also have our snowboard equipment delivered right there and the bus picked us up across the street to go to Lake Louise.

Review 54:Noisy guests on second night kept us up most of the night until 0400. Not enough parking when we returned from our Saturday ballet, we had to drive around several times to find safe parking.

Review 55:Great value for the money

Review 56:The rooftop hot tub is always a favourite when I stay here! We arrived early and thought we would take a chance on early check in. Our room was not available for early check in so we were given a free room upgrade which made it possible to check in early ! Cant wait to return

Review 57:Nothing to do with the hotel was disapointing but the breakfast we had in the restaurant in the hotel lobby was not very good.

Review 58:Most pet friendly places are not kept this nice. Also really liked that bowls, a bed and treats were provided for our dog.

Review 59:I am concerned about the security in the hotel. We found that the access doors to the outside parking lot did not need a key. That is a bit disconcerting.

Review 60:We went after a busy weekend has just happened there. We always like to travel 'against' the crowds…..not with them. So, we had an enjoyable quiet stay.

Review 61:Difficult to find your room since the hotel is on levels and connected to each other via walkways. I don't recommend parking at level B, C, D during winter. My car lost traction and slid backwards on the hill down because there was no gravel on the ground. The restaurant is closed during the week.

Review 62:The pool is great. The rooms are clean. Breakfast on the weekends is very good. Staff very nice.

Review 63:N/A

Review 64:I really enjoyed the staff and outdoor hotpool. Soon as we got there, instantly got a good vibe, very friendly and clean. Got a free upgrade to our room which came with mountian view and a belkeny. Very good place to stay will be coming back for sure!

Review 65:Parking lot was a nightmare with the sleet and snow. No accommodation for handicap parking & as I was staying in the Swiss Village it was treacherous trying to walk across the parking lot in the extreme!

Review 66:Loved pool, outdoor hot tub, restaurant great breakfast, friendly & helpful staff!

Review 67:Room was dirty, toilets not cleaned well, noise level was off the charts. People walking in the halls was like having someone walk by your head. We were there on a saturday night and all the young partiers were there, so was insanely loud, with security and people banging on doors and yelling in the hallway until 4am. Additionally someone walked into my room at 7:30pm. Needs more sound proofing on the room door as you could see the hallway under the door the gap was so big. We will not stay here again.

Review 68:pool and hot tub, restaurant, and front counter staff were good.

Review 69:The only downside is that the location is a little outside the core for restaurants & shopping. Beautiful mountain views though from the upper level rooms!

Review 70:Great value & the outdoor tub is pretty nice after a day of skiing or mountain biking

Review 71:Nothing

Review 72:Nice size room, nice decor, very comfortable big bed, great views, had all the electrical equipment you need eg. fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, good selection of TV Channels, clock radio, nice complementary toiletries, great hot tub

Review 73:The walls aren't very thick so we were awoken a couple times. The first was when a high school band was staying at the hotel and were placed all over the building and we were woken up by several different instruments being played from a bunch of different directions early in the morning. The other time was, I'm assuming, those kids partying in a room down the hall very late.

Review 74:We loved the outdoor hot pool, so nice to be able to relax and have a view of the mountains. The room was spacious and nice, loved the view. Lots of options for food and things to do right in the hotel and around the area. Overall it was a really nice getaway for the two of us. Lots to do in the area, walking distance to downtown.

Review 75:Midweek stays can feel a little isolated. The bar is closed and the gift shop also so be prepared to travel in to the town

Review 76:This is our 3rd time staying here as the condos offer a great home away from home feeling especially when travelling with a young family.

Review 77:Huge amount of mold in our room was up all night on puffers. No towels available at hottub. Manager would not reply to my email about the mold.. there is no way health and safety board would pass the room we were in and they still charged us

Review 78:The location and hot tub

Review 79:One too many people in the outdoor hot tub drinking. Two I didn't like the beds I couldn't sleep beside my husband cause they were too small. Three I was charged for the second night not at the same price.

Review 80:We liked the outdoor hot tub.

Review 81:The inn"s location is less than ideal for people who don't like to go on long walks. I had to drive to the town center for meals and shopping.

Review 82:The spacious rooms, outdoor hot tub, ample parking spots, and affordable room rates make up for the inn's dated decor. The front desk staff granted my request for an early check-in and a late check out without hesitation.

Review 83:The rooms were very cozy and the beds were comfy! We especially liked the outdoor hot pool and should have taken more advantage of the swimming pool facilities!

Review 84:Didn't like the cost at the restaurant. The price of the meals were ok but they charged 2.75 for a pop that didn't even equal half a can of pop and didn't have free refills. Same with the coffee. Cost over $8 for 3 mini pops.

Review 85:Liked that it was quiet and likes the pools.

Review 86:We found the pillows to be too thick and too firm for us to get a good sleep. If you're going to put 6 massive pillows on a king size bed, maybe consider a little variety.

Review 87:Great views from our balcony. Loved the outdoor hot pool.

Review 88:The mattress was so bad, my neck is still in pain. Parking was even worse took me 30 min to find a spot. there were teenage groups who made a lot of noises.

Review 89:The staff were nice people. Price was fair.

Review 90:did not receive any help from front desk employee after locking my car keys in the car. I asked for some phone numbers for a locksmith or towing and I was informed that such thinks does not exist in Banff and yet I found in in yellow pages. Very dissapointed about that.

Review 91:Not to busy, indoor pool, hot tub with the view

Review 92:The bathroom floor was dirty. We were not informed that there was construction going on in the room next to ours. Awaken by the sound of drilling and hammering. Called the front desk and was told there was no work order that she is aware of. Obviously there is work being done next door.

Review 93:It was less than a mile from downtown. Price was affordable.

Review 94:Far from downtown if you're walking. They provide you with a bus pass but the bus was never on time when we were there. The 215 bus didn't come until 238 and we could have walked by then

Review 95:Big comfortable rooms. Lovely staff. Great value.

Review 96:We stayed in the Swiss village building which is disconnected from the main building. Room was extremely hot and has no AC. No breakfast included with room rate.

Review 97:Great roof hot tub with amazing mountain views.

Review 98:Dirty old rugs throughout the facility. The smell from the Japanese restuarant lingered down to the lower restuarant. Back entrance door wasn't locked for security and the staff was not concerned about it?? The layout of the hotel is very confusing.

Review 99:The view from the 5th floor balcony of the mountains facing north.

Review 100:It was on the edge of town. Room was to warm the thermostat didn't work. Called the front desk sent a guy to our room. He told us open the patio door. Room wasn't clean very dusty. Bathroom dirty blood on shower curtain. Overly priced for a glorified hostel

Review 101:the website was deceiving... the room we had was a lot older than in the photo's and there was a very old musky scent in the room

Review 102:The view from the roof top pool was beautiful

Review 103:Our tv did not work correctly as well the screen door we could not open or close it well, which made this a disappointing stay as last time we stayed was when we got engaged back in December and our heat was not working that time.

Review 104:Very nice views, huge balcony, close enough to the town but far enough there wasn't too much noise. The roof top hot tub was great!

Review 105:It's dirty. Grubby floors and old, dirty furniture. The bed had a squeaky plastic mattress protector...(that lasted about 69 seconds before we stripped the saggy bed and removed it). The advertised "private balcony" was inaccessible, screw-locked door, no fresh air! One elevator to service all floors, interminable waits.

Review 106:Not much to like. Staff were very pleasant. Free parking is always good. Water pressure made for a good shower.

Review 107:The front desk supervisor went above and beyond to correct a mix up with payment on our room. Wanted to say how much I appreciated the amount of effort put in. Will definitely be coming back.

Review 108:The whole hotel is in desperate need of updating. When the entire place looks straight out of the late 80's you have to question the cleanliness - of carpets, bathrooms and upholstery are 25+ years old. Overpriced, no breakfast, reception staff rude...

Review 109:Nice hot tub

Review 110:Old, dark building that seems outdated and worn. Build in the 70s or 80s? and never updated. We stayed in the "Swiss Village" part. It basically means add a wodden balcony to the room. This is not! usable and only for decoration.

Review 111:Price was somehow okay for a night.

Review 112:Tired decor and carpet

Review 113:Quiet location on edge of town, large room with tiny balcony away from main building. Hot pool looked inviting. Clean comfortable overnight stay in budget accoms with restaurant .

Review 114:Rooms were updated and very nice. We loved the outside hot pool. Looking up at the stars and the fresh mountain air was perfect. the Facility itself (i.e. exterior, patios, etc need a real refurbish) however, I would definitely stay again.

Review 115:A bit out of town. Corridor rugs tired-looking. Restaurant unpredictably unavailable at breakfast when exclusively booked for tour groups.

Review 116:Spacious comfortable clean rooms.

Review 117:The whole hotel is in desperate need of updating. When the entire place looks straight out of the late 80's you have to question the cleanliness - if carpets, bathrooms and upholstery are 25+ years old.

Review 118:That it has both an indoor pool and hot tub and an outdoor hot pool.

Review 119:No issues at all

Review 120:Amazing place. Clean, comfortable, great curtains to keep the light out, quiet, fast room service, friendly helpful staff, pool is the highlight- fabulous views. A little out of the town but close enough to walk and there is a free bus service. Oh and love the handmade soap!

Review 121:Seems like a great hotel from the outside and main area but our room specifically was in what seemed to be the older section of the hotel which didn't have many upgrades. We still paid $200/ night so I was expecting something a bit nicer.

Review 122:Small balcony which was nice to have! Shuttle to town and the mountains across the street.

Review 123:Due to the weather Banff was a little too far for a walk. But on a nice day it would be a great leisurely stroll. The Bears Den......closed Sunday night after 9pm

Review 124:The bed was awesome. The pizza in the Bears Den was amazing. And the staff were great

Review 125:There is nothing I can say we didn't like about our stay at inns of Banff.

Review 126:We received a call the morning of our check-in from the GM letting us know he had upgraded us to a mountain view Jacuzzi suite as we were celebrating our anniversary. We were thrilled! The room was gorgeous, spacious and SO comfortable. The staff is beyond friendly and accommodating. We ordered room service for breakfast and it arrived hot, fresh, and tasted delicious. The outdoor hot pools are great & have spectacular views. They also gave us a coupon book when we arrived which allowed us to go see a movie and only pay for 1 of us, get a free tea at davids tea, save 5% at the liquor store etc etc. I would HIGHLY recommend inns of Banff, and can't speak more fondly of our stay there. I will never forget their generosity and will be travelling back there for many years to come.

Review 127:We went and booked in for our rooms on a very busy long weekend date. At this time we realized i had booked us in on the wrong date. The manager of this location immediatlely put us at ease by telling us they had other hotels in banff.. He found us a room in a much more expensive hotel at the same discounted rate he was offering us at this hotel WOW This weekend Banff was sold out in most locations....Customer Service Excellence We cannot say enough for what he did...

Review 128:Didn't have microwave in room.

Review 129:Outdoor hot tub was nice, always had lots of towels available. Could receive a $5 credit toward meals at their restaurant for not having housekeeping service.

Review 130:Swimming pools's water was cold! Very noisy in the middle of the night because of people arriving in. No complimentary breakfast but apparently almost no hotel in Banff offers it. No air conditioning, so I guess during the summer it may get warm inside the rooms.

Review 131:Big room and good location!

Review 132:The rubber mattress covers make it very difficult to sleep. Convoluted hotel with many walkways....not good for those with mobility problems. Breakfast not included. Bike rentals at hotel.

Review 133:Outdoor hot pool had a great view.

Review 134:Filthy dirty carpets, run down, tired decor, room air con did't work. Interior of lifts dirty. Overpriced. I will never stay at this place again

Review 135:nothing

Review 136:The facilities are dated and in need of a major overhaul. The concreteon the deck was all breaking away. The water pipes are very loud and youcan hear when other rooms run water. The location is ok, but really thisplace falls short when compared to a lot of other options in Banff. Webooked last minute and had trouble finding a room at other hotels thatwere a first priority. We were happy to find a room at the Inns ofBanff, and it was ok, but just ok. There are definitely better optionsout there.

Review 137:Each day that you do not use the housekeeping services, they give youa $5 voucher that can be used in the restaurant. You can use multiplesat a time.

Review 138:Just a bit far from center of downtown. I prefer to walk, so walking back and forth constantly is a bit of a pain. That being said--free bus passes or they have bikes for rent which is a great option.

Review 139:Great veiw. Loved the fact that free bus passes are accessible at the front desk. My bed was great. Apparently the hot tub is good.

Review 140:Layout of the hotel is like a rabbit warren and very confusing. We got lost several times. Breakfast is not included in the price and lacks variety

Review 141:Nice room with good space
