Reviews for Fantasyland Hotel
Review 1:-Huge bath tub, which was great to give our 5 month old a bath. -Very accommodating staff- they had answers to what are most likely common requests. Ie.) can we have a late check out? They knew exactly how to handle to request.
Review 2:Limited parking, limited room service, no extras at all (i.e bottled water in room, kleenex, etc.) Simple little conveniences go a long way to guest experience. The normal entertainment movies for rent in the room were all $16 to $20 which is very overpriced. With no 24 hour room service, you would think they should at least have minibar snacks for purchase or a vending machine. I have stayed at much lesser rated hotels and received much more value for my money. The beds were also not very comfortable - felt the springs right through the mattress.
Review 3:Location and access to activities is excellent. In room Wifi was great and fast.
Review 4:We didn't have a negative experience, however for just a basic room, the price was slightly high. And having to wait in line ups of 20 people to get an elevator was frustrating.
Review 5:It is convient to stay at the mall and makes it more convient to enjoy the various attractions.
Review 6:I like the fact that Fantasy land fixed up the mix up with my reservation as soon as possible and they up graded my room to a theme room at no extra cost to me and of my choice and also added a free breakfast worth a 30.00 value for free?.. The staff right from the start of my stay to the end of my stay were very professional and curtious to me?.. I am very great full for the lovely and kind staff and I would recommend fantsy land to all my family and friends?..Thanks again truly yours Lyne
Review 7:customer service sucked the price was a huge sick joke never been more angry in all my life about a so called motel the rooms are small and the service sucked
Review 8:Honestly, nothing
Review 9:I had requested late check out & received it, no problem, I notified hotel ahead of time we were celebrating husbands birthday, when we entered our room there was a card wishing him a Happy Birthday & complimentary chocolates :)
Review 10:I have to raise a complaint after midnight on the unacceptable noise from the neighboring room. Even the security checked them out couple times, they still behaved not good until middle of the night, suggest in future to keep checking them every 30 minutes at least until they understand they are rude to their neighbors. Really sick.
Review 11:the convenience location on shopping
Review 12:We had the opportunity to upgrade to a theme room for cheap. We had a blast. The staff was amazing. The room was fun....it was the western theme room.
Review 13:The elevator s where the only issue we had with our stay.
Review 14:we had to wait a very long time for elevators - there was actually a waiting line! Parking is awful! Some rooms are shabby.
Review 15:We had young children in our group so as the hotel was in the mall it was easy to manoeuvre
Review 16:The price for a regular room is a bit much.
Review 17:We stay here for Christmas shopping so all of our purchases are safe in the room then we don't have to worry about our vehicle getting broke into
Review 18:The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. Our neighbours were loud beside us and above us. The fire alarm went off at 5:45am and that was unsettling but we got the all clear by 6 :30am. We couldn't get back to sleep so we just sat and talked until it was time to go. If the beds were more comfortable we would consider staying there again.
Review 19:The location was perfect for finishing our Christmas shopping. It's great not having to fight for parking. When you were done your shopping you went back to your room to drop off parcels and start all over. It was an enjoyable weekend.
Review 20:The walls must be paper thin cause you could here everything in the room next door until they eventually went to sleep at 2.30am. Just because you book a particular theme doesn't mean you will get it. As it had been booked well in advance I was very disappointed.
Review 21:I love that it is attached to the mall.
Review 22:The setup of the room was really goofy. We got the Executive King suite with a Jacuzzi tub but the Jacuzzi was tucked away in the corner and we were not able to watch the tv/movies while in the Jacuzzi. Although our room looked updated the rest of the hotel is starting to look outdated. The gentleman helping us at the check-in seemed overwhelmed and frustrated.
Review 23:Rooms are very dated. This place needs a face lift badly. Wouldn't spend this much money here again.
Review 24:Location at WEM is good. Really liked having the ice water and treats in lobby for a fast refreshment.
Review 25:We had a ordinary room, found value for that amount of money was to pricey. We were hoping for this to be a very nice experience. No view only of the roof. For $300.12 not good value for the price.
Review 26:I was offered a upgraded luxury room and the room was very dated. It looked like it was made in the eighties and no upgrades have been made since then.
Review 27:See above. We went somewhere else.
Review 28:Nothing, my theme room that I reserved could not be given because the carpet was still wet. They downgraded us to a basic room but could not lower the rate. Instead offered is passes to the water park we had just finished occupying.
Review 29:No bad experience but our fridge in the room froze everything and the knob to regulate the temperature was broken so we could not get it to change temperatures.
Review 30:The location to waterpark and galaxyland and shopping is what attracts us to the hotel for holiday time. We love the ability to go back and forth to the room to relax between activities. We had never done room service before until this visit and it was quick and tasty.
Review 31:The hotel charged my business credit card for the four rooms which was what was supposed to happen. But they also charged one of my volunteers $800 plus dollars on her personal card. So essentially we paid twice. I'm not happy.
Review 32:Our toilet plugged and we had to have maintenance come to fix it. We tried to order a pay per view movie but the service was not working. The wait for the elevator was between 10-20 minutes each time we needed it. I also found the price to be very expensive for the average quality room we stayed in.
Review 33:Staff was very helpful and friendly. Easy checkout.
Review 34:Quite expensive, no free breakfast any more. They could use more elevators. No view, but that wasn't why we chose the location.
Review 35:Really enjoy the location, the Mall is great!! Staff is very friendly. Casino in close proximety to Hotel.
Review 36:bad sewer odor kept us up most of the night! Finally called housekeeping to deodorized the sink and tub drainage systems!
Review 37:Beautiful rooms and location is just perfect for all our shopping and extracurricular needs! ?
Review 38:Beds could use an update, no dedicated parking. No microwave which would help with small kids. Not ideal for travel with really small kids.
Review 39:In the mall, great for access.
Review 40:The beds were so hard my ribs hurt when i woke up. We also had drunk people running up and down the hallways from 2am-4am. The structure of the building is not very good for sound reduction.
Review 41:The place was clean
Review 42:The room cost was still way too high, comparatively.
Review 43:The theme of the floor was neat. The room was SPACIOUS and comfortable and clean. The staff we also amazing, very attentive to my needs and extended my check out by an hour without charge.
Review 44:Filthy water spewed out of the jets in the hot tub. The bubbles were black and once the tub was drained there was a black mess in the bottom of the tub. Needless to say we got out quickly and didn't use the tub.
Review 45:We were upgraded to a executive suite. Beds were comfortable, view was great, lots of extra space. Very happy that we paid less for the room, not sure that it is worth the rate that is advertised on the website.
Review 46:irresponsible parents surrounding our room let their kids run up and down the hall while they were drinking alcohol in one of the rooms
Review 47:comfortable beds
Review 48:Elevator issues - line-ups at check-out time to get off your floor, and staff with all their carts are forced to use the same 4 elevators as all guests. Stairwells are alarmed so that isn't an option.
Review 49:Perfect place for a shopping weekend
Review 50:Booked superior king , paid upgrade to Polynesian theme room which was very tiny and only queen and hard to get into because of the way the bed is made, dirty floors , uncomfortable seating area .also issue with very drunk loud neighbor from 1:30 am -3:30 am Took 2 calls to security and 2 hrs for action .
Review 51:Location
Review 52:We appear to have been charged twice by booking.com for this hotel, once when booked in January 2015 then again upon arrival in September 2015 which has been the only let down we have ever experienced using booking.com
Review 53:The location is perfect for utilising the West Edmonton Mall. Hotel gets discounts for both malls main features, which the concierge arranged for us. Amazing rooms
Review 54:to get my visa receipts they said they would e-mail them to me both times I had to call them and for them to find the bookings I made I needed there names dates room numbers length of stay. I have to reconcile my visa on the 15th of the month and these bookings drags this process an additional 2 hours. Every time I send someone to Edmonton I request my employees to bring back the receipt. They tell me you will not give it to them. I am still waiting for that e-mail from the last trip and the 15th is coming fast. This will be the last booking if I have to waste 2 hours tracking down my receipts of two employees sent on a PLC training course.
Review 55:everything at your finger tips
Review 56:That I had to pay for breakfasts. I mean shouldn't the price have included continental breakfast at least? I was a little annoyed at that.
Review 57:That we were able to have everything brought to us even when we were calling for room service after hours for breakfast without having filled the form on time.
Review 58:Although we had a themed room the bed was uncomfortable. Because it was a round bed I was only able to stretch out in the centre, but that space was occupied by my new bride. The staff are unable to follow instructions which meant 3 trips to reception on our wedding night. I've found better organisation and value for for money in much cheaper establishments so I certainly will not be making a return visit. $325 for one night with the amount of problems that we had is a disgrace
Review 59:We had a themed room.
Review 60:Overall value for money is average.Tried for room service but always busy called hotel services and they promised to callback but never happened, will not recommend anyone unless your are travelling to visit west end onto mall.
Review 61:Location is good and the property looks really clean.
Review 62:This wasn't the first time we stayed here, in fact whenever we come over to Canada we always book into The Fantasyland Hotel, sadly this trip we lost a "poster box" at the airport and it had the name of our hotel on it and your staff was very helping in trying to locate it for us. But sadly we never did receive it but your staff did their best for us.
Review 63:The price was a little high for the room without it being a fantasy room.
Review 64:The staff was nice, and the location was great for our trip. The coupons the the waterpark made our trip :).
Review 65:My stay was comfortable, the booking process was easy, the staff members were very helpfull and extremely pleasant. The location couldn't have been better. There was plenty shops available and activities to choose from, and the variety of food choices was amazing. My overall experience was fantastic and I highly recommend the hotel to anyone.
Review 66:The room we stayed in was very worn. Walls were beat up and itdidn't feel very clean. We've stayed before in the renovatedrooms. The Polynesian room is incredible! If they were all at thatlevel, it would be an amazing hotel. Hotel elevators are also super slowon check out. It took us almost 20 minutes to get downstairs.
Review 67:Location is incredible especially with young children.
Review 68:Hotel overall needs updating - the bathrooms extremely small. Lobby is very unimpressive, very dated and borderline cheap and tacky. $50 a night per pet stay is ridiculous and just a money grab. I spent $350 per night and on top of that I had to pay $135.00 (discounted rate) for waterpark tickets - whoopee! This should have been included since there is no hotel pool per se. Will not stay here ever again - it seems like this hotel has had it's day, and is now just operating to milk people for as much as they can. Go across the street to the Holiday Inn Express at least there is a pool you don't have to pay for and you get a free breakfast. This is not a Fantasyland Hotel at all - there is nothing fantasy-like about it. Drive up to the lobby and you will feel like you are driving up to a cement wall. Change the name of the hotel, update and put some money back into the hotel. Stop ripping off your guests.
Review 69:I didn't like the hidden fees/ taxes which I had to pay for after my stay. If you can live with paying a little more for the rooms it's a good place to stay. This is my only complaint on this hotel.
Review 70:I didn't like the fact that I didn't get a complimentary breakfast and when you spend that amount of money you should be able to go swimming! However we found it too costly for all of us to go swimming so needless to say my children weren't happy
Review 71:I enjoyed the bed and convenience of the mall. It was a nice experience but we won't be staying again
Review 72:Rented a kings suite with a hot tub. Nice room but got stuck on the fourth floor. This would have been alright but the beautiful view I got for 400$ a night was the back of a satellite dish and a storage shed.
Review 73:no ac and no help by staff had to talk to manager a couple time to a other room without a apology for poor service
Review 74:a great and friendly lounge with a good staff
Review 75:No pool, or hot tub unless you pay to the Waterpark, once youve used your free coupons. For the price of the hotel I would have expected better mattresses. We woke in the morning as if being hit by a truck.
Review 76:The close proximity to the West Edmonton Mall. The ease for the older ones to be able to come and go.
Review 77:The hotel was attached to the mall which made it super convenient. Although we didn't stay in a themed room, our hall had a theme____log walls and room doors painted to look like a stall with a bourse looking out!
Review 78:The hallways were a mess, I called down to the front desk to let them know some e had spilled a whole bowl of ice cream in the hallway,2 days later it was still there
Review 79:That we had to ask for water park tickets and only received 2. For the price of the room these tickets should be automatically given.
Review 80:Convenient to the mall.
Review 81:Booking.com claimed that my adult daughter & I had a room reservedwith 2 queen beds. When we checked in we had a dated, themed room with 1queen bed & jacquizzi & not suited to our lifestyle. After Icomplained to the night mgr, staff could not help me the hotel wasbooked for a concert, we received a roll away bed and discount for heroom. Parking can be inconvenient to front doors, unless you use aconcierge.
Review 82:This hotel is excellent for location to shopping & restaurants.Standard rooms are comfortable & with discounted rates are worth theprice and convenience.
Review 83:No complaints everything was great
Review 84:Location was great right in the centre of the Edmonton Mall, we were close to everything, its great for families with children so much to do and also for a mature couple we cant wait to go back
Review 85:If you are planning to spend your romantic night here.. Please gosomewhere else!!!..The ladies in the reception are horrible.. they have this ugly mask face and they charge me 100$ for the deposit (which the routine everywhere) but they don't explain to you any thing. They aren't friendly at all. The lobby is so noisy with kids crying everywhere!!!! Additionally, the place is so much over priced for the service and comfort. The Jaccuzi of the neighbooring room is so LOUD and i couldn't sleeeeep.
Review 86:I liked the location ( within the mall) and close proximity torestaurants.
Review 87:The beds were small to be queen beds, they were like double double. One of us had to sleep on the floor.
Review 88:The hotel room was indeed clean and the beds were super comfortabl.
Review 89:An elevator was down and it made for a super long wait in the mornings.
Review 90:Awesome location. Comfortable rooms, pretty quiet. We ended up going home a day early and they didn't charge us for the total cost of the room, even though we didn't give them 24 hrs notice. Totally appreciated that:)
Review 91:No fan in the bathroom or it didn't work, loud noises in the piping when taking a shower. Poor lighting in the bathroom. And the fridge froze all our water we purchased, had to wait a whole day too let it thaw out.
Review 92:Location. Comfy beds.
Review 93:There was difficulty getting a crib for my granddaughter during booking. Fantasyland made it right. I was there for medical reasons and didn't like the results I got. I'd brought my daughter and grand daughter so we could have a special couple of days together. The way Fantasyland made everything, more than right, made my time there more bearable. It sure made for some wonderful memories for my daughter and grand daughter. Way to go Fantasyland!
Review 94:Only one thing happened by the day I should check out, I asked for late check out and emptied the room except for few stuff in the fridge and went inside the mall with kids, went back to take the few stuff I left in the room, found the housekeeping staff already cleaned the room and threw my stuff in garbage even they should knew that this room still have guests and did checked out!! Anyway she appologiesed after that.
Review 95:Perfect location within West Mall where we found everything we are looking for and kids had lots of fun even our visit was not mainly for fun. I would love to revisit to enjoy the rest of the facilities
Review 96:Waited in line for awhile at register desk to buy attraction tickets....more workers needed, only 2 were available to help
Review 97:I liked that it was connected to mall and theme rooms and decor each room
Review 98:The women at the reception wasn't friendly and pretty ruff. When we got into the argument about the 4 free pass for the park for the month of July.
Review 99:breakfast was really good. awesome service at the buffet. close to everything, room really comfortable.
Review 100:The bed was too soft and my back was sore every morning because of it and one of the elevators wasn't working and that was a big hassle waiting and the line ups were huge
Review 101:Having the hotel at the mall was quite handy for shopping
Review 102:Not very pet friendly and lobby of hotel located in parking garage with low height, not very convenient for most travelers with campers or roof racks with extra luggage
Review 103:Very convenient for waterpark
Review 104:Some people had pets on the floor we were staying on and we could hear them barking late into the night.
Review 105:I love that when you're shopping you could just drop your bags off in your room, take a break, head back to the mall or watch a movie or grab some dinner and you never have to leave the building
Review 106:Late night room service selection and taste was awesome. Try the mac & cheese! Location at the mall allowed maximizing individual schedules. Two family members had an online college classes at different times. Room had a bunk bed, allowing entire family to be in the same room with bed options. 20 something year olds remembered their youth and took the bunk beds, leaving the sister with a queen bed :-) We had the opportunity to store our bags during the last day of shopping, with an unexpected pleasure of seeing the mall's sea creature show. Mall was great. Went on ziplines over the water park! Sat in the rear-facing seats on Mindbender rollercoaster! Galaxy Quest was the favorite of the older "boys" (and their dad). We all liked both the golf courses. Mike's restaurant was the best place to eat based upon all our different tastes. Everybody liked those items marked "Mike's favorites".
Review 107:The use of stairs would be nice seen as we only had to go up one floor to a friends room.
Review 108:Love the location and the convenience of everything in the Mall. When we needed transportation to a concert, Alex took very good care of us and got us there and back safely. Big thumbs up for that!
Review 109:It is pricey
Review 110:Very convenient to take advantage of the Weat Edmonton facilities and attractions. We probably would not have taken part I as many events if we had not stayed on site.
Review 111:The entrance way stinks. To many homeless people hanging around . Every time we went outside they were wanting something . The bedding is old and outdated . And carpet in room is stained. Got stuck in elevator for 20 minutes. They could of giving something for the inconvenience .
Review 112:The location
Review 113:The food from room service was awful..hardly edible and very expensive. When I complained they did credit me for the meal which I thought was very fair. I will say when I have had a problem while staying here they have always tried to compensate and correct the problem as soon as they can.
Review 114:Always appreciate the location and the comfort of the rooms.
Review 115:I wasn't impressed when checking out! All the trolleys were in use so my hubsnd and I were taking our things down to the lobby. When we returned to get our final belongings, the cleaning lady was in the room filling the jacuzzi before we checked out!
Review 116:The service was excellent. Got to check in early! They gve us passes for the day becuse it was my husbnds Birthday. They also gave him a card and chocolates! Many Thanks!
Review 117:price was high considering demand was low, hotel was empty and mall was very quiet for summer time. spa tub is nice but too big and too long to fill each time. otherwise a nice stay.
Review 118:everything was good. service location , facility, staff.
Review 119:Television sucked no hi Def channels and still front entry way looked dismal rooms were ok but for the amount paid would have expected something much nicer maybe a hot tub or something
Review 120:I liked it was close to the mall
Review 121:There was a hockey tournament going on while we stayed and some families were allowing their kids to run up and down the hall loudly yelling at eachother. Understandably it's not the hotel's fault but quite hard to keep a baby sleeping at 10pm with a ruckus in hallway. Plus trying to get down the elevator Sunday morning, we ended up having to take stairs with our luggage and children because any elevator was jammed full of hockey bags and kids for over an hour.
Review 122:When we arrived, we had to preregister with the front desk as we had added on the family adventure package to our reservation. I asked if we would be able to check in sooner as we had a toddler, and they were able to accommodate. Room was large and clean.
Review 123:Receptionist at desk made mistake at check in by manually entering the incorrect ex date of my credit card so it was declined but insisted I use another without giving me time to call to resolve the problem.
Review 124:Valet service proximity to watermark ice room
Review 125:For the price i paid i expected a lot more. The room was totally outdated and run down. TV crapped out intermittantly and had poor selection and movie rentals were extremely overpriced. Room was hot and A/C didnt seem to help. No hot water in the mornings for showering.
Review 126:Bed and pillows were comfortable.
Review 127:Asked for higher floor at time of booking and didn't get it. Had to ask in person when I checked in to get it. Didn't like the price considering it was a fairly small room. I guess you pay much more just because of the location.
Review 128:Tub filled very fast.
Review 129:Over priced, mystery charges that haven't been explained, dirty sheet's, grey coffee, and cold shower.
Review 130:The spa tub was neat, but will take over an hour to fill. At least we had a mall to occupy us.
Review 131:Got a king suite and it was just like everyother hotel . Paid less for a king suite elsewhere and received a more up to date and roomier room.
Review 132:Attached to the mall.
Review 133:Concierge was a joke. They (and the manager) watched my wife struggle with the suitcases and baby without offering to help. During checkout, she passed both concierge on duty and neither offered to help her either. That department needs a good shake up, and be made to understand their job is service, not spectating.
Review 134:Location, location, location. Room was not a theme room, but was 5 starish in quality. When the bath tub tap didn't work properly it was repaired as requested.
The Fine Print
