Hotel Regina descritpion

The Hotel Regina occupies a Victorian-style building dating from 1894 in the heart of car-free Wengen and offers fine cuisine and excellent spa facilities.
The Regina hotel features a brasserie, a gourmet restaurant, a spacious lobby with fireplace and a cozy piano bar.
The spa team (graduated beautician and a physiotherapist) offers a wide range of treatments and there is also a small shop with beauty products. Every day from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. the sauna and the hammam are reserved for the free use of the hotel guests only. The fitness room is accessible free of charge all day.
From your room you have a fantastic view of the mountains of the Jungfrau area, the Lauterbrunnen valley and the Wengen village. The spacious suites (646 ft² to 860 ft²) offer an especially luxurious atmosphere.
During winter 44 lifts and cable cars in the 3 regions Grindelwald-First, Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen and Mürren-Schilthorn invite you to have fun in the snow. In summer the area around Wengen is great for hiking and mountain biking.

Reviews for Hotel Regina

Review 1:The staff were very attentive, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to help us when it came to recommendations for dinner or the best transport links to use. The location was unbelievable - the views from our room were the best in town.

Review 2:The Regina's location is perfect for walking around Wengen and the views of the Jungfrau are phenomenal. The hotel has been restored beautifully over the years while keeping its original charm. The owners and staff were friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend this hotel.

Review 3:The very noisy ASian guests. They took over the whole hotel. Also I waswoken very early, 6.30am as they were talking very loudly outside ourroom. Something should be done about it.

Review 4:The beautiful Noel and setting. Staff at the desk excellent. The waitersa bit Fawlty Towers!

Review 5:Wenger has no car access This should be made clearer at time of booking Considerable cost in parking & train fairs to get there Swiss no VErY expensive coffee$ 8.50 a cup!

Review 6:Helpful staff

Review 7:The Wifi only worked in public areas. There was time pressure from tour groups in the morning, even though they were in a different breakfast room, so it was difficult to get an early breakfast.

Review 8:The view from the room and the public rooms was fabulous.

Review 9:We chose the wrong time of year to visit.. "Low season" not a lot of shops open or any restaurants.. But otherwise a great stay...

Review 10:Beautiful location with awesome staff and setvicr

Review 11:The balcony view from our room was gorgeous! The breakfast was good and a few times we used the free sauna/steam room for guests. Staying in Wengen in general was a great choice!

Review 12:no free wifi in the room. Have to seat in the lobby to get free wifi.

Review 13:two balconies for mountain view of sun raise/sun set . feel so good sat there during the day. the location is super, the train station and coop supermarket are down the building. hiking trail to Lauterbrunnen

Review 14:Cupboard door stuck, shower not easy to figure out unless rooming done. , lamp broken, no slippers although on list, space in room. and you need to be superman to flush the toilet.

Review 15:View and quality bed

Review 16:The hotel is rather run-down. In any other part of the world, it would be a 2 star hotel. The hotel is not maintained and would need some serious remodeling. Breakfast was limited in selection. The sauna "spa" and training facilities need some improvement..... The hotel is not worth the price!

Review 17:The staff was friendly and service minded.

Review 18:The room a bit dated and can be improved by a small investment, say some improvements to the bathroom fittings and decoration to the blank wall. Wifi available only on ground floor and will be good if also made available in the rooms.

Review 19:The view to the snowy mountain from the balcony is insanely beautiful. We liked to wake up early and see how the scene change when night turns into day. Very friendly and helpful staff. The porter service was very useful to us international travelers bringing big luggage. Hotel coveniently located only 2 minutes' walk from the station. Particularly impressed by the experience of eating at the "centre table" of the chef's office looking at the chefs working while sampling good food of a "surprise menu". Quality of food is excellent.

Review 20:Charming comfortable and relaxing. Lovely dinning room and food, deffinatly worth a visit. If you looking for old world charm it's the place to be.

Review 21:Why do they diffrienciate between budget and non-budget - both view are excellent - the budget side was a little runned down - we paid almost 200€ (with breakfast) for the budget room, which i think is quite fair for a normal room in Wengen.

Review 22:They had the cutest dog ever!! :) The Staff were very friendly, the location excellent, breakfast was good enough.

Review 23:Unfortunately, the experience was tainted by being woken up at 6am by what sounded like a lawnmower outside our window but later turned out to be an ancient and possibly defective wall mounted hairdryer in the room above ours. We complained, and were promised it would be fixed, only to be woken up again at the same time the next morning. Also, guests were allowed to smoke in the restaurant (which one could smell all the way into the lobby), which is not to everyone's taste. However, if you are a smoker who likes to get up early, this hotel would be an excellent choice.

Review 24:A bit scuffed around the edges, but clean, and with an atmosphere of the grandeur of days gone by and the design from the golden age of mountaineering. The four poster bed and big balcony were quite something.

Review 25:A relic of a bygone era, but not in a good way! Tired furnishings; worn/stained carpets; cracked plasterwork; expensive restaurant with gastronomic pretensions that it doesn't merit; bathroom from the 1970s; bed with a deep dip in the centre (the attempt to cover it with a mattress topper, predictably, didn't work); limited and poorly organised storage for clothes; numerous other irritations. I visit Switzerland frequently. I have never stayed in a worse hotel in that country.

Review 26:Pleasant staff; bright bedroom; convenient location near station; quiet; views from front-facing rooms

Review 27:Having to leave.

Review 28:Outstanding view of the Jungfrau from bedroom. Bed & bed linen made for excellent comfort at night. Having the (4-poster) bed 'turned down' and chocolates every evening were a bonus! Impressed with Mr Meyer, the owner, as he made time to make conversation with all guests in Jack's Brasserie of an evening. Food in Jack's Brasserie was expensive, but very good quality and we found every meal out in Switzerland was expensive.

Review 29:The hotel is not for everybody. It's good for people who want a room with charm and a view. You wan't find a large crowd.

Review 30:A great staff that will go out of the way to help you. Very good food.We had a great room with a GREAT VIEW. The hotel is old, but with a wonderful charm. Very close to the train station.

Review 31:A classic Swiss hotel with a very courteous staff and friendly owners.

Review 32:Free internet only in lobby

Review 33:Excellent service, great location, fantastic scenery, good food

Review 34:Train ride from Zurich to Wengen and back very costly

Review 35:Peace, tranquillity, beautiful views, accessibility to trains and great value for money

Review 36:Room was small and no bathroom slippers provided for the cold floor.

Review 37:Location,view from room and friendly staff.

Review 38:Internet only in the lobby

Review 39:Sylvain was the best. Very friendly and helpful.

Review 40:The room was beautiful, the bed very comfortable, shower strong

Review 41:good location

Review 42:breakfast baguettes

Review 43:piano music, hot water, bacon, dogs allowed,

Review 44:Older plumbing but I love old buildings

Review 45:Staff and service very nice. Good location. Close train and ski in out.

Review 46:A truly wonderful resort and an idyllic place to stay. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Can't wait to return.

Review 47:The food was well below standard as advertised. Most of the staff new with no training. The hotel is in poor repair.

Review 48:The location

Review 49:Food was excellent , staff was wonderful- met owner very nice. Welcoming hotel.

Review 50:We were clearly out of season; the two restaurants were closed and heating in the hotel reduced. It felt like we were the only people there but our room was shabby. Bathroom ok but not at the standard of fittings and toiletries one would expect at this price. Service variable

Review 51:Location and views

Review 52:I was treated exceedingly well - it is a pleasure every time to meet the owner, and staff are very attentive and polite. The location and views are amazing. Great.

Review 53:- this hôtel is really overpriced and should be ranked 2* max. - Old place in urgent needs of full renovation and refurbishment - breakfast was a very poor experience. First arrived first served and items were not replaced ! - Spa only open 2 hours for guests. Not convenient

Review 54:- Central location - friendly staff

Review 55:great location, very beautiful hotel, nice staff. on the last day, we checked out at 10:00 am went skiing and came back to the hotel, and they open the spa only for us, so we could shower

Review 56:Bed was worn out and no longer flat. One side was much lower than the other. Not what I expect for 300CHF per night. We had a room in the upper floor. The bathroon ceiling was so low I could hardly stand up in the bath/shower. Room OK, but not worth full price. Maybe some rooms in this hotel need to reflect their drawbacks.

Review 57:Great location. Wonderful old world charm. Very pleasant hotel. Caramel, the resident spaniel at reception. Food, drinks and service from staff was great.

Review 58:The temperature in our rooms was cool & the lighting almost non existent. It was as if there was an ecconomy drive going on!

Review 59:Attitude of owner & staff was excellent, food also very good, & rooms very pleasantly furnished with nice views& balconies

Review 60:Staff needs more coaching/training; no hotwater in the room so haveto ask for it from the bar at reception from time to time; when wechecked out, we were told we can not pay by credit card, so we have togo out to take cash from atm, this messed up our travel plan. Reallycan't understand...

Review 61:Nice view convenient location cozy hotel good breakfast good bathroomromantic environment

Review 62:The whole place is not just tired but needs a complete refurbishment to justify its 4 star rating.

Review 63:The staff - they did their best with an aging hotel Fabulous outlook. Excellent soups!

Review 64:hardly no view in our room (Savoy room) though the description said the opposite. Almost no heating in the room and in the bathroom

Review 65:the service (especially Philippe in the dining room) the location the cachet

Review 66:The deserts were not good. We got cold creme brulee and we didn´t likethe other desert either.

Review 67:I loved the location and the view, the dinner in the hotel wasvery good.

Review 68:This is a lovely old Swiss hotel with views to the Jungfrau. Yes it is showing its age in parts, but this only adds to the charm and atmosphere. Our room was big by European standards with a balcony and a fabulous view. Wonderful food and attentive staff. Easy access to the station or gondola for skiers and you can ski right to the door at the end of the day. Highly recommended.

Review 69:The staff were very polite, and tried hard to please, but they were justnot properly trained and appeared to be extremely short handed. As aresult service was very bad. Long waits for food, long waits to beserved, lack of reaction to requests made at the front desk, and justbad service over all. One of the rooms at which we stayed was extremelysmall, smallest room I've ever seen in Switzerland. The pillows andthe beds were very hard. We stayed for 6 days and asked for additionalpillows, but never got them Too expensive for what they offer.

Review 70:The location is good. The lobby is very pleasant, as well as thedining areas. The staff tried to be nice, but they just could not getthe job done

Review 71:Very friendly staff, excellent service and always looking to help. Great location and beautiful room.

Review 72:Nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff

Review 73:Rather dated tv

Review 74:Fabulous view. Helpful and polite staff.

Review 75:The hotel was very comfortable and the staff were extremely accomodating

Review 76:Nothing

Review 77:Everything about the hotel... Staff, management, rooms, area, service and the dog...
