Reviews for Pillsbury Guest House

Review 1:Hostess was a hoot. She actually started our trip out great! We had a rough start with plane reservations and ferry, but soon forgot all about it when we stayed at Pillsbury Guest House. Her 3 course breakfast was amazing and loved her singing and jokes. She is a sweetheart!! I would definitely stay there again.

Review 2:The place needed a through cleaning... it was just plain dirty. Floors not swept, bath room smelled of urine, dust on surfaces. The air quality of the house was bad, lingering order of cigarette smoke. There is a "fine line" between "quaint clutter" and pack rat! We would pass it up next time....

Review 3:Would have been better if there had been another bathroom or even just another toilet.

Review 4:The other guests were nice and we all enjoyed our experience together here.homely situation and fabulous hostess

Review 5:Had to share a bathroom with three other rooms, total 7 people on one bathroom, which made it interesting for an 8 am breakfast. It worked but everyone had to be quick.

Review 6:Colleen is wonderful. Food great. Beds comfy. View spectacular!

Review 7:Colleen was a fun and funny host. Breakfasts were a delight. Great to talk to others over breakfast and to be entertained with stories and renditions of Piaf.

Review 8:Very cosy, comfortable home with lots of character. We were happily greeted at midnight by the proprietor, who was then up at dawn to prepare us a delicious 3 course breakfast, early enough for us to catch our ferry. We were only sorry to have missed her Edith Piaf impersonation.

Review 9:The breakfast performance was unexpected and a bit too long because we had things we needed to do.

Review 10:The house was historical. That was really neat. And the breakfast was amazing!

Review 11:Only one, shared bathroom available for all guests.

Review 12:Authentic period house filled with interesting, eclectic, historical items. Hostess was extremely friendly, and entertaining. Breakfast was lovely, and served on period china. Great, downtown location.

Review 13:For some reason there was a lot of noise from a air conditioning unit or fan from adjoining commercial building that went on into the early hours

Review 14:Unique experience Ina historic building. Don't expect Best Western ! But absorb the quirky and unique experience on offer here. It is not often one is serenaded over breakfast!

Review 15:The Pillsbury House is unique. It's the first house built in Prince Rupert, and the location is perfect. I was able to walk to most places I wanted to visit. The breakfast was fabulous. Colleen, the hostess was extremely friendly and entertaining. It was a great stay!

Review 16:Historic house in walking distance sea front with good restaurants (Dolly's Fish Market). Very enthusiastic and friendly landlady giving lots of excellent advice. Breakfast is out of this world and just unbelievable and entertaining

Review 17:No chairs in room, had to sit on bed. Could hear through walls.

Review 18:Sink and toilet in room. Location.. Entertaining breakfast. Huevos Colleena and crepes for dessert were enjoyed. Very quiet over night.

Review 19:Great location, cozy rooms in a historical house, but the real highlight is the breakfast and the "show". We'll say no more to avoid spoilers, but stay here if you're an Edith Piaf fan.

Review 20:Our train was late so we were only there for a few hours. It was a short night, but Colleen, our hostess, was very welcoming and even made us a delicious breakfast/lunch to take on our long ferry ride since we were leaving so early. All I remember is that the house smelled wonderful, like a bakery, as Colleen had obviously been baking for the morning breakfast. And there was a deer sitting in her garden as we waited for our taxi. The house has a lovely view of the harbor.

Review 21:I found it odd that there wasn't a stand up shower but instead a hand held shower.

Review 22:I liked the homey feel and the older style of things; the view was real nice and it was a comfortable place to stay

Review 23:Breakfast was fabulous. Hostess was extremely friendly and entertaining. The Pillsbury House is unique: the first built in Prince Rupert, and in the best location.

Review 24:The shower needs updating

Review 25:Your made to feel very welcome at Pilsbury and this quaint house with its view is a perfect get away. A good breakfast is followed by a charactered insight into it's owner.

Review 26:We had to make up the bed everyday...at other B & Bs it was always done by the operator.

Review 27:Breakfasts were delicious...and the views from the home were awesome!

Review 28:Nothing.

Review 29:Incredible three course breakfast. Historic home. Perfect waterfront location. Great hospitality. Entertaining hostess who sings for her guests after breakfast!

Review 30:Cosy, only basic compared to some but this is more than made up for by the welcome, the views, the quiet yet very handy location near centre. If you like history you should like this

Review 31:The stairs are those of an old house

Review 32:Breakfasts were superb. Our hostess entertained us by singing 'Piaf' songs. An experience not to be missed. She was extremely talented.

Review 33:Dropped my laptop on the hard bedroom floor and fried my USB port. Not the fault of the B&B but it would have been nice to have a useable desk in the room.

Review 34:Stayed here for business and was pleasantly surprised. Make sure you have lots of time to enjoy the breakfast and the host's skit on Edith Piaf. I stayed in the master bedroom overlooking the water, quiet picturesque. The location is very convenient and the price is very affordable.

Review 35:Small bath tub

Review 36:The breakfasts were wonderful, bed comfortable and the host very welcoming. Felt comfortable being in different parts of the house, handy to everything

Review 37:This B&B is a gem! Such a refreshing change from an impersonal hotel, Colleen (hostess) is so attentive, a great entertainer and made us a delicious breakfast. The house has a lot of character, this is worth checking out. Will definitely be back again.

Review 38:All was good.

Review 39:When I first walked into the B&B, Colleen the hostess was very warm and welcoming. She provided a delicious and nutritious breakfast each morning and told stories about Prince Rupert's history that were fascinating as well as entertaining. She is also an avid follower and impersonator of Edith Piaf, a famous early to mid-20th century French singer and actress. Colleen kept me entertained the whole time during breakfast with her impersonations. I stayed in a queen room overlooking the waterfront decorated with antique furniture and antique photos, some of which were part of Colleen's childhood and some were part of Prince Rupert's intriguing history. This place was definitely worth staying at and very reasonably-priced as well.

Review 40:Friendly hosts Great breakfast (hosts also run a catering business and it shows) Nice view of city and port from bedroom Spa tub to ease away aches and pains of travel

Review 41:everything was great, really nice old house (kind of museum), Colleen the host is unbelievable - not only in making breakfast but also in entertaining

Review 42:Colleen was a joy to be around her entertainment was grand. You can tell she loves to sing and her food was delicious. The first morning was a 3 course breakfast with all the coffee you could drink. The egg dish was really good. The mini concert on the life of Edith Piaf was delightful. The Pillsbury House had character and Colleen was a character that made the house a place to visit.

Review 43:The location of this B&B has amazing views and is close to a waterfront park. The hostess is an amazing person who was very helpful on things to see, places to eat, etc. The breakfast was to die for! That was worth the rate I paid all by itself. I highly recommend staying here if given the opportunity.

Review 44:Wonderful atmosphere in this more than 100 year old house with a fantastic host who is not only an outstanding cook, but also an outstanding performer/entertainer and makes you not just feel welcome but home! Thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Review 45:no negative points

Review 46:very charming house with a lot of kind memories; gives you the feelig to be back in the past for a while. the breakfast was very original and delicious. Collin sang some Edith Piaf songs : it was really amazing how her voice quite similar was Edith Piaf's voice. great experience ! ; ;

Review 47:Our Hostess, Colleen, was exceptional. She not only created a fabulously delicious, home-made, 3 course breakfast breakfast, but she also entertained us while we dined, with singing and dancing, from her past in Theatre. Her voice is superb and was greatly enjoyed by all.

Review 48:Our host was very kind and adaptable. Loved the breakfast and entertainment. Location to the center of town couldn't be beat. Highly recommended by seasoned travellers. 2 Thumbs up!!!

Review 49:Only one room has an ensuite bathroom

Review 50:B&B is right on the waterfront, very close to eateries and other interesting places. Colleen is an excellent host. She was waiting for my very late arrival from the Skeena train trip the first night, and then made me a very appreciated takeout lunch for the BC ferry trip on the (very early!) morning the last day. A very tasty b/f is accompanied by funny stand-up joke routine and Edith Piaff's songs. I was glad to have one full day to explore Prince Rupert, an unexpected discovery.

Review 51:All bedrooms shared 1 bathroom

Review 52:Colleen so helpful and 3 course breakfast delicious. Little concert so good and place so quirky and fun. Colleen was up at 5 o'clock to give us tea and food and a good packed lunch.

Review 53:The lady who runs the B & B is such a good host. She makes you feel like family as much as at home. The bed sheets smelled amazing and the breakfast was beyond average. Anyone who does not get to stay at Pillsbury is missing out. My husband and I loved our stay and would stay again for another adventure.

Review 54:Having to share a bathroom, but it is a small inconvienience for the overall experience.

Review 55:If you are looking for a place that is a little different and interesting you will enjoy this B and B. The location was great, the view out the window was gorgeous. But the hostess Colleen made the whole experience. The breakfast both mornings were delicious, and the cabaret with the breakfast is priceless.

Review 56:The owner was wonderfully warm and helpful. She cooked a fabulous breakfast for us, organised a taxi to collect us and then sent us on our way with the leftovers wrapped for later eating!! A delightful lady. We would definitely recommend this B & B.

Review 57:What's not to like! Stayed in the master bedroom with the great view of the harbour. Had the best sleep for our whole trip. Breakfast and entertainment was great. Would recommend Pillsbury Guest House to anyone travelling to Prince Rupert.

Review 58:not spacy enough, Shared bathroom

Review 59:The host was very nice and welcoming. Tried to make us feel comfortable. I'd recommend it with some exceptions.

Review 60:One combined bath/toilet room shared between 3 guest rooms. Cold at night, one blanket insufficient. Unable to close bedroom window.Refrigerator must date from the 1950's. tots of owners own clothing possessions around the room.

Review 61:Breakfast

Review 62:The one bathroom was shared between four bedrooms and 7 people. The décor was quaint but very cluttered.

Review 63:The B & B was in an excellent position and historically very interesting. The host was very welcoming and obliging and the breakfasts were excellent.

Review 64:the place could get some modernisation, really needed some maintenance

Review 73:Very nice hotel, close to the restaurants and entertainment. The owner is great!

Review 74:The "impromptu " post breakfast concert provided by the host....Edith Piaf come to life The heritage artifacts and atmosphere was great.
