The cozy lounge bar and elegant restaurant feature antique furniture, historic drawings and stained glass windows.
At the dining room, guests can enjoy delicious national specialties and fine wines, while the beautiful music room offers piano concerts in the evening. Half-board is also available and it includes breakfast and a 4-course dinner.
During wintertime, Hotel Falken organizes guided walks and snowshoeing tours in the area, and the ice skating rink is located just 350 feet away.

Reviews for Hotel Falken

Review 1:nothing.

Review 2:5-10 min uphill climb from station but no problem for two seniors. One of Switzerland's historic hotels, very unique with antiques, plants inside everywhere, very comfortable bed, working wifi, excellent breakfast and meals, very accommodating staff(especially in dining room) and very homey feel.Would have liked to have stayed longer.

Review 3:Wi fi very poor. Breakfast tired - seemed to be the same fruit salad for all 4 mornings, Had GI upset which I think was due to fruit salad. Dated furnishings. Some of staff sullen and others pleasant.

Review 4:Clean room and comfortable bed.

Review 5:Hotel Falken is simply adorable and offers magnificent views. My husbandI loved every aspect of it's charm from the antique décor to thenightly live music. The staff was wonderful and the lobby area was warmand inviting. Part of the fun was sharing the common areas with guestsfrom around the world. Our room was small and the bathroom was tiny, buteverything was functional. We had twin beds that we ended up pushingtogether and the fact that we had a balcony overlooking the valley belowand the surrounding mountains made us feel like the room was much biggerthan it was. The blankets and pillows were goose down and verycomfortable. The breakfast was well done, featuring assorted cold meats, cheeses, cereal, yogurt, scrambled and boiled eggs and an assortment ofbread. We loved taking our time in the mornings to eat and then justlounging in the common areas reading books or playing card games. Thelocation is close to the train and the town center, but it is isolatedenough that you can't hear the hustle and bustle of the main road(not that Wengen is loud at all). Over all, we will be repeat visitors.

Review 6:- the breakfast was OK but uninspiring, e.g. not nicely presented - shaky WIFI in the rooms (OK in the sitting room) - squeaky floor above the room - chairs were uncomfortable in the room, the balcony, the dining room

Review 7:- A beautiful view on the Jungfrau from the room. - Nice early-1900 "historic" atmosphere. - A large and cozy sitting room. - A nice garden.

Review 8:Tour party in having dinner so a long delay.

Review 9:Interesting old hotel with comfortable furniture & lovely fresh flowers. Dinner good value by Swiss standards .

Review 10:When someone is smoking you seem to be able to smell it easily, and I don't appreciate smoke. The beds need to have a soft pad on them, they were too hard for us, otherwise we LOVE everything else! ;-)

Review 11:LOVE the view...TOPS!, the porches (2), the flowers, the antiques and room decor, the welcome drink, the nice staff, the honest worker who brought my husband somethings he forget in the room-what a treasure she is! LOVE the huge bathtub, and the nice sized room!

Review 12:We had a wonderful stay. The staff was all very nice. They picked us up and dropped us off at the train station with all our suitcases. They gave us a welcome drink when we arrived. I had made the mistake of booking a family annex not realizing the layout of the bathroom (traveling with my parents and our son) and they worked it out with us to have another room. We had an amazing view and a terrace where we could sit and enjoy. Walking distance into town. The breakfast was very nice. They made us eggs to order and the best coffee on our entire trip. They even served it with warmed, steamed milk, that made it heavenly! The restaurant was closed for dinner but they suggested another place in town and we received a 10% discount. Very nice stay.

Review 13:Made a silly mistake when intending to book for 2 nights in December but did not realize the month shifted back to July during booking. Considered by hotel as no show and full cost of CF760 charged. This is a big penalty for an inadvertent mistake. Asked the hotel for sympathetic consideration but received the reply that "you say you have made a silly mistake, but why do we have pay for your mistake. Why do we have to suffer loss?" Well, I wonder this is a good way to treat a customer. A kid drops an ice-cream in McDonald's or a customer spills his coffee in Starbucks, it's possible they may be comforted with a complimentary replacement. They don't have to do that but this will be good customer care. For this hotel, there is no alternative the hotel would offer to ease the hurt to the customer. Sorry full room costs for 2 nights are charged, and my family have no opportunity to experience the hotel facilities and service. For what I have experienced, I can only give a low rating.

Review 14:Nothing. No chance to actually experience it.

Review 15:Extra charges for a mattress on the floor despite the already high rate we were paying for two large rooms. Breakfast was average. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The dining room staff was not as nice.

Review 16:Location and rooms were nice. Overall logistics were good. They accommodated our family of 7 for dinner upon our arrival even though we did not have reservations.

Review 17:Didn't want to go....

Review 18:This place wasn't the greatest looking from the outside but when I got inside and saw all of the antique charm and the quaint rooms I only wished I could've stayed there for a LONG time! I just LOVED our room, and so did our grown son! Our room had 2 balconies with double doors going out to them (#21) and it had killer views of the mountains and gorgeous flowers on the boxes on ledge. The neatest shot I have from my trip so far is one of the mountain view with the flowers in the foreground. Breakfast was pretty good, too! They gave us a welcome fruit drink and were SO kind to us! I WILL return if I am able to come to Switzerland again! I also LOVED the HUGE soaking tub in the bathroom, it was AWESOME!!! :-) I am a tub lover and this one was one of the best I have ever used!

Review 19:Wonderful warm and friendly staff, extremely helpful. The hotel had a great homely feel. Great location.

Review 20:Uphill on the outskirts of town

Review 21:Historic hotel full of antique furniture. Like visiting your great grandmothers home complete with threadbare carpets

Review 22:Good to have Wifi throughout hotel

Review 23:Traditional decor, fantastic views and individuality and history.

Review 24:Fantastic old hotel with caring friendly staff

Review 25:The facilities in general were quite old.

Review 26:Excellent location. Staff was extremely kind; very warm hospitality.

Review 27:Front desk personnel

Review 28:very friendly staff and excellent location for ski in / out and the Mannlichen cable car.

Review 29:Nothing

Review 30:View from Falken is the best, friendly staff, porter service to/from station, Vintage styled room, clean towels bedsheets

Review 31:Lovely hotel, lot's of character. Staff very friendly and efficient. Ski in and out of the hotel, just above the cable car and nursery slopes. Dinner and breakfast excellent.

Review 32:The food: too much food, unimaginative and too stodgy! How about smaller dishes using local ingredients.

Review 33:Old fashioned charm, location, friendly guests and staff, the boot room, accessibility to slopes.

Review 34:Excellent, comfortable family run hotel. Ideal for multigeneration holidays. Tremendous location for skiing. Traditional decor with all modern facilities incl WiFi. Will definitely return !

Review 35:The history, the décor, the fact that in had been in same family for its history and that she was still very much involved in the day to day running. The friendless of the staff

Review 36:Nothing is wrong with this hotel. providing you arte not looking for a modern glass box.

Review 37:Food is excellent and stylishly served. Staff are well-trained and obliging.

Review 38:Can be hard to walk up to from train with luggage or skis Not the cheapest

Review 39:Friendly and very nice staff Pleasant guests Helpful for enquiries Historic hotel Good ski store room Good location Good views

Review 40:Location, hotel is situated 1/4 mile or so from train station up a steep hill. No taxis in Wengen so you must walk, pulling your luggage. Very difficult for a 75 year old couple.

Review 41:Friendly reception, willingness to arrange transport from town center realizing the walk was too strenuous for people our age. Scenery is spectacular.

Review 42:I've been traveling throughout Western Europe for the past 30 yearswatching old Europe slip away so it was wonderful to find a spot thatrecons back to the old while still providing all the needs for moderntravel. Location was perfect for our treks in the Berner Oberland.

Review 43:We are pretty flexible , but nothing stood out

Review 44:It is like going back in time. The Hotel is 120 years old and the decor is wonderful. A most magnificent view of the Jungfrau from our balcony.Wengen an interesting place.

Review 45:Great family run hotel with friendly and helpful service; traditional Swiss feel; great location for exploring Mountains/Hikes around Wengen; hotel with a history with lots of character preserved

Review 46:Toilet space (bath room) is rather small. However there is a public spacious WC in the hotel.

Review 47:Anyway, WENGEN is the best location for walking around in JUNGFRAU area I think. Of course, Hotel is one of the best.

Review 48:They have old fashioned keys and it was very hard to open our door lol.Our bath was super tiny. We just laughed it off though. Just part ofbeing an old inn I guess. Our kids bath was big so I guess it depends onthe room. It wasn't a big deal for us. There was a public restroomin the hall you could use in addition. The young woman in the breakfastdining room wasn't friendly. Always looked stressed and busy. Ithink you should always be greeted with a warm " goodmorning!" And asked if you would like coffee. But maybe she had abad couple of days. She wasn't unpleasant or any thing like that. Our family liked the hotel.

Review 49:Cozy, old-fashioned inn. Loved the old time elevator and the pianolounge. Liked that they picked us up at train station. Would have beendifficult to walk uphill with luggage. Greeted us with apple cider whichwas nice. Beds comfortable. Views amazing! Our kid's triple facingtown was great! Liked that it had a table. Price was good compared toother hotels in area.

Review 50:wooden floor , it sound when you walk on it, but just like home feel.

Review 51:you have a best view in this hotel... looking at the jungfrau..hohoho...just like dreaming, no need to go anyway. sure will stay here again sooner or later. and also the lovely puppy...Hi Buddy !!

Review 52:The food could be improved with more fresh vegetables and or salad.

Review 53:The location is fantastic and convenient, the beds comfortable and the staff helpful.

Review 54:The price is on the expensive side.

Review 55:The staff at the front desk were amazing!! The lovely lady made some phone calls for us to look for daycare for our baby and she also gave everything we needed for our little picnic we had in our room. The room was nice and I especially liked the common area.

Review 56:The ambience was very good and old features preserved The areasdownstairs were ideal for meeting new people and with the piano playerThe Falcan has become a bit of a "hub" for British people. Skiin and ski out is very attractive

Review 57:The decor is quite outdated, but the kids loved the old-fashioned elevator because it is a door with a window. They loved seeing each floor go by while ascending. I would not change a thing as the price of rooms would likely go up with each improvement.

Review 58:Our family of four went away for a weekend with three other families - eight adults and eight children in total. We all thought the hotel was very comfortable. Our children were able to watch a movie while the adults talked in cozy room next to it. The beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, but the best part was the staff. We got a great recommendation of a restaurant which fit our needs perfectly. If we come back with friends and kids, this is definitely where we would stay.

Review 59:We found the hotel a bit pricey, even for Switzerland. I guess you pay for the location and the view. Also, we had two single beds instead of one double. The hotel looked like it was fully booked online when we reserved online, but in fact they only opened a fraction of the rooms because they had reduced staff because this is the low season. It would have been nice to know this so that perhaps they could have opened up a room with a double bed for us.

Review 60:The hotel is very comfortable. The lobby is furnished with handsome antique furniture, and we found it a very nice place for sitting down and chatting. There is also a reading room where we spent some time in the evenings. Our bedroom was comfortable, and we had a lovely balcony with a view of the Jungfrau and the valley, with Lauterbrunnen below. The breakfast was buffet style, with lots of option, and quite nice. Overall it was a nice relaxing setting for our weekend getaway.
