Reviews for Hotel Belvédère
Review 1:The bed wasnt comfortable and the pillows were terrible- like soft cotton wool(no support). The design of the bedroom was quite odd- unmatching decor and many crowded pieces of furniture. The room also lacked a minibar fridge, kettal and tea/coffee making facilties which most hotels have as standard.
Review 2:The view from our balcony was world class and is enough reason to stay in the hotel beyond anything else. The staff were excellent. Very helpful and friendly especially peter and the reception staff.
Review 3:Mattresses and pillows were too soft, need to be improved. No AC but it was not needed as the weather was cool.
Review 4:Location and view was great, staff was warm and friendly.
Review 5:Staff was a little rude at times, although the breakfast buffet area was always empty they wouldn't allow us to sit by the window because all the window tables were for four people, not two. When the room has 100 tables and only 5 guests eating, I think they could have made an exception. Poor vegetarian dinner options so we never had dinner at the hotel. A pool would have been nice but for "only 25 CHF" you can use the pool of their sister hotel.
Review 6:Great breakfast buffet, they allowed us to bring a dog, perfect location, beautiful views, they picked us up from the train station so we didn't have to walk with all of our bags to the hotel which was also great.
Review 7:Bed and pillows were too soft. Hate the new duvets that are so hot, but all the hotels use them now. Took ours apart.
Review 8:Loved the staff and the balcony with the amazing view of the mountains!
Review 9:Small rooms. Very old furniture. Very noisy floor. Very expensive room rates, you get to pay premium for the room and stay in dingy room and low ceiling.
Review 10:The pleasant staff. The view of mountains. Quite location tucked in the back street. Nice restaurant and outdoor view.
Review 11:We liked everything at the hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. We ate breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Food was very nice and quite reasonable. Room had a free upgrade with a fabulous view of Jungfrau region and valley. Spectacular two nights. Wish we could have stayed much longer.
Review 12:We were on the 1st floor with a great view of the Jungfrau but the terrace our room opened up to was a common terrace for all of the first floor on that side of the hotel. It was very warm weather so our door and window was open and guests from other rooms would walk by our room. No very private. From the 2nd floor up you would bascially have your own balcony.
Review 13:The location of the hotel was good but you need to call the hotel to pick you up upon arrival. Walking up the hill with luggage would be difficult. The view from the hotel is spectacular. The breakfast and dinner were very good.
Review 14:While olde world decore would not be to everyone's taste the cleanliness and friendly service and that magnificent view from your bedroom window makes for a wonderful visit.
Review 15:The rooms were tired and could use upgrading, some new decor. The food was mediocre for breakfast and dinner.
Review 16:Location in Wengen, cool old historic building with great views.
Review 17:Old world charm, helpful professional staff. Wonderful location within 10 min. walk from rail station while enjoying solitary. Spectacular view! One can even play/practice on the upright in reading room. Ideal hermit for artists!
Review 18:Loved the old world charm of the Hotel. Everything about the Belvedere from the outstanding friendly and helpful staff, the gentle ambience of the decor, to the understated grandness of the lounges and dining area is so perfect. Amazing views of the Jungfrau, the surrounding mountains and Lauterbrunnen in the valley way below, from our room. Everything about this Hotel is timeless, gentle, gracious and totally, totally enchanting. The village of Wengen is a good central base for exploring the Junfrau region and gives you a very Swiss experience without the intense tourist feel of Interlaken.
Review 19:my bed was a wee bit hard…..but everything else was great!!!
Review 20:the people we so friendly. the meals were good. VERY accommodating!!!! nice hotel and décor! nicely located.
Review 21:That we had to leave.
Review 22:The welcoming reception, the comfortable room, the value for money dinner and breakfast and the highest standard of restaurant service and food. We are advising all here in Australia of the above.
Review 23:Beds were not very comfortable
Review 24:Staff was very friendly, good value on buffet dinner (for Swiss standards), 19th-century flair in fireplace lobby and dining room, free wifi, located just a few minutes from lift to Männlichen Ski Area
Review 25:Nothing!
Review 26:Charming and so swiss! Loved our one night here that turned into four! We wer off season and it was very quiet. Staff was so helpful ! Coming back!!!!
Review 27:The pillow is a bit too soft for me.
Review 28:The staff is very friendly. We were upgraded to a room with view and the view was amazing. The included breakfast was very good.
Review 29:The hotel is situated on a hill, as we were not aware we had a difficult time climbing with the luggage. The pillows were very soft and not very comfortable. Al a carte menu was not available for dinner. Only a set menu was offered.
Review 30:Nice view from our room on the 4th floor. Staff were helpful and co-operative. Location was good as it was 5 - 7 min walk to the train station.
Review 31:Beautiful and serene location. It is about 15 minutes away from Wengen station, but the hotel arranges transport service when checking in and checking out. The rooms were very comfortable and the view from the balcony is just awesome. The buffet breakfast too was good.
Review 32:We noticed that your staff named Peter who was serving breakfast was not friendly with us. Anything we would ask he would reply negatively and showed disinterest in serving of breakfast. At the same time, we saw him smiling n greeting white people(westerners), i think he dislikes Asians especially Indians, srilankans. We noticed this attitude of him for 3 days and noted his name only for writing this in the feedback. Moreover, another staff who was a little elder person was equally good and attended all guests professionally. My advice is to tell peter to change his attitude.
Review 33:Location and internet service is good.
Review 34:My family love this hotel! It is a really awesome place in a beautiful town like Wengen. The hotel is a bit high up there, so it took about 10 mins walk from the train station, but its height repaid us with great window views of Jungfrau! Definitely deserve the walk. The staffs are also extremely friendly. Very nice staying and would love to come back again!
Review 35:Nothing.
Review 36:Fantastic breakfast buffet in beautiful Art Nouveau hotel. Staff were very helpful and polite. Good home base for exploring the Jungfrau region. Quiet setting. Ask for a room with mountain views.
Review 37:Old sheets, det carpet ón the bed was unclean, i saw dirt ón it several places, called the reception and asked if the sheets was changed, he came op took the carpet with him, the next Day i saw him in the reception he was annoyed and dident even say hello . The breakfast was poor.
Review 38:Location
Review 39:Wifi was horrible and breakfast boring as no change day after days we were there.
Review 40:Peace, tranquility and fresh air. Could sit there for hours doing nothing except admire the natural beauty
Review 41:Restaurant staff seemed not nearly as friendly as the many other hotels in the area we visited. Need to stay for a week to get a window table - really? Early trains leave before 7am but their was no coffee to be had at the hotel ANYWHERE say nothing of a croissant.
Review 42:Excellent views from the west side of the hotel. Desk staff very good.
Review 43:You can't drive to Wengen, and this was not clear to us when we booked the hotel. You must park in Lauterbrunnen or Interlaken (further away) and take a train up. The cost for a family of four is 19 Francs one-way from Lauterbrunnen. You also have to pay for parking for however long you stay, which adds up quickly.
Review 44:The town of Wengen is a great place to stay if visiting the Swiss Alps around Jungfrau. It provides direct rail access to all the points of interest, to include the Jungfraujoch peak, and is much cheaper per-night than most of what you can find in Interlaken. The staff was very helpful and, importantly for us, kid-friendly. Accommodations were very clean, and the beds are comfortable. We really enjoyed having a balcony with a view of the mountains.
Review 45:When we were there the lobby Wifi computer station was not working, though Wifi on our phones in the hotel worked fine.
Review 46:Wonderful older hotel with more than a hint of nostalgia. Great breakfasts in a stately dining room. Fantastic classic views of the Lauterbrunnen valley and the Jungfrau massif -- ask for an upper floor on the Jungfrau side.
Review 47:1) No free water given in rooms 2) Dinner is cheap but meat was squeaky. Not delicious 3) Hallways can be very noisy also ceiling) when people are walking on old wooden floors 4) Internet did not connect what so ever! Also computer in lobby does not connect to internet as well....
Review 48:1) Great view from room! Eiger and the mountains were gorgeous to look at. 2) Great sun coming in the corner room as well. 3) Nice morning breakfast option at a pretty dining hall and terrace to sit outside 4) Nice old structure, beautiful aesthetics, lobby room is gorgeous 5) Salad buffet is nice
Review 49:I small refrigerator in the room would have been nice. There was no way to get ice for the drinks we bought. Besides that, it was a wonderful room.
Review 50:Amazing staff. Breakfast was fantastic and the cleaning staff was phenominal. The room had incredible views and the balcony was so relaxing. Rooms were much larger than i imagined and i would recommend this hotel to anyone.
