Reviews for Altiplanico Atacama

Review 1:There's nothing I don't like about this hotel, very happy with it.

Review 2:Individual huts with private resting area and rain shower outside. Rooms are clean and comfortable. It's a 10-minute walk to down town San Pedro, but you get to see the amazing sky while walking back to the hotel after a nice dinner. They have take out breakfast if you're leaving to El Tatio at 4am, friendly staff at front desk and restaurant.

Review 3:The staff was nice but we had a problem of comprehension with them (, even if I was talking Spanish and English ), we asked for a taxi to go to the airport they forgot it so we waited 40 min when we had exactly one hour to go to the airport ! And I asked them to contact another hotel of the same chain to confirm one night more and two beds (which they told me they did ) and when we finally arrive in the other hotel this hotel told me they never received any confirmation and but lyckily due to a cancelation one room became available (with only one bed) ... So because of the staff mistake of this hotel we almost missed our flight and had no room for the night ! For the taxi maybe they understood I already ordered one ...misunderstand happen ... But for the other night in the hotel one of the lady from the reception clearly told me "they answered to the mail : you have from the ... Of December with two beds " Maybe if the staff Was spending less time talking together or having their lunch / dinner behind the desk maybe hey would be more focus ... I worked in hospitality and I am studying hospitality management and I never expected to see the receptionist eating like this in front of the lounge ... Last thing : the staff at the bar , very nice but as I said more busy talking together with the receptionist or in the kitchen than looking if some guests wanted drinks. We had to go ask for them everytime we wanted a drink .

Review 4:The hotel is really great ! The location is a little bit far from the center but the hotel is really worth it nice the design too. The staff Is nice but make sure everything is clear ! The hotel was really nice they allow us a late check out ! We really really appreciated that . The breakfast and kitchen really good.

Review 5:Breakfast could be far better, especially the service was quite weak (dirty and disorder; only one person to clean and attend the so many tables). The personnel attending at breakfast was too basic (Indian Chileans with no education and very inefficient - as if they do not know how to use their hands).

Review 6:Restaurant is a bit expensive. They don't provide airport transfert (but several options exist so it is not difficult)

Review 7:Friendly Staff. Lend you towels for El Tatio Geysers tour so that you can use the natural hot springs pool. Give you breakfast to take away when you go on tour early in the morning (ask for it the day before). Have a " standby " room where you can take shower and rest after the Geysers and before your airport transfert if you already checked out.Restaurant is good...Breakfast is great. Breakfast to go is OK (but not fantastic)

Review 8:Night shift personnel, always unhappy and not collaborative at all. In fact, I was trying to watch a sports match on one of the two computers available and the guy at the front desk started to suggest that I turn off the computer!!! Please put one TV set on the reception!!!

Review 9:The whole concept of the hotel is great, good lodging with ample rooms and a scattered layout. The outside showers are also a great addition

Review 10:Only a minor quibble - had to request a light bulb change 3 times before it was done

Review 11:Fantastic hotel! Perfect retreat after Bolivia Salt Flats tour and to continue more tours of Salar de Atacama. Pleasant staff, nice food, wonderful hotel theme.

Review 12:The bathrooms were painfully cold (at least for winter) and the wifi did not work very well in our room.

Review 13:The room was very clean & cute and the bed was comfortable. The service was exceptional.

Review 14:10min away from the main street. It's not really that bad.

Review 15:Beautiful place, friendly staff and great food. They offered a late Check out at no cost when I told them I was leaving late.

Review 16:Wi fi needs improving. Bring your own water to the room, the climate is dry dry dry.

Review 17:the staff is super nice, great people. The design is superb. The comfort of the bed is great and the layout of the room is gorgeous. The breakfast is amazing.

Review 18:Carlos was outstanding! Very friendly and polite! The hotel itself is nice with a lot of amenities. It was great to be able the hotel after checkout until our transportation arrived!

Review 19:Overpriced, poor breakfast (I've had better breakfast buffets athotels 1/3 of the price) terrible Wifi, incorrect charges were madeto our room, there was no atmosphere or friendliness to the hotel. Abouta ten minute walk from town but at night it is quite dark so take atorch. Hotel recommended tour company but it is twice the price of anyof the others in town.

Review 20:Quietness, rooms were nice, bed comfortable

Review 21:the wifi was spotty, the staff in the restaurant are slow during lunch and dinner, and the prices for lunch and dinner are very expensive ($9 for a bowl of soup for lunch!!).

Review 22:The front desk staff are very helpful and kind, the breakfast (included daily) is extensive and delicious with many options, the rooms are clean and very comfortable, and the property is a short walk away from the center of town. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 23:Was cold, we were in June, although we had the heating all the time. In the room internet wasn't good, but in the reception area there is good internet and computers available.

Review 24:very good breakfast and design of the apartment. We had late bus at 20:00 and we were given spare room with 2 beds and bathroom which we could use until our departure, and that was great

Review 25:Couldn't get hot water for a shower. Wifi didn't work in room.

Review 26:Location and stunning hotel. Never stayed in such a beautiful hotel. Thestaff were amazing!!!!!!! Wonderful, helpful, knowledgable, willing togo the extra mile. Your lucky to have such wonderful people.

Review 27:Breakfast was poor. First 4 star hotel to not offer omelettes. Service was very slow. Juices watered down. The pool was lovely but too cold to use even in thr midday desert sun.

Review 28:The room and outdoor shower was great. The hotel and surroundings were very good.

Review 29:The menu for dinner was different each day--great soups, creative andflavorful main dishes. (I tasted two of these.) Again, the staff wasattentive to details--for example, the staff remembered that I have anallergy to cow's milk, and when I ordered fruit that's usuallyaccompanied with yogurt, it had no yogurtm but with a ring of thin-sliced pears. . The grounds are true to the desert location--adobewalls, distinctive plantings of grasses, folk art, and a feeling ofprivacy. Every detail has been attended to.

Review 30:I highly recommend staying in this hotel. Beside that it's beautifuly designed, clean, comfortable with great resturant and outdoor pool the staff are soooo friendly and very very helpful! I would defiantly stay there again ... So nice to get back to this hotel after a whole day of extrusions in the desert ...

Review 31:We loved the spaciousness and village feel of the hotel. The rooms in individual traditional adobe buildings are set in beautiful grounds with lush vegetation and even a peacock pair! Breakfast always had some local, traditional food on the menu as well as the usual expected range and we could relax to the ambient music. As for the 10 minute walk from San Pedro, just marvel at the stars!

Review 32:The wifi does not work well anywhere except the computer room and reception area

Review 33:Staff were friendly and worked hard to provide help with anything asked of them. My partner asked the staff for help to surprise me with an engagement proposal and they went above and beyond with a meal on our terrace under the stars. The food was amazing aswell

Review 34:No air conditioning, fan was provided upon request. With the desert weather and unavailability of taxis, location cannot be considered convenient. Staff not warm, personal or enthusiastic - quite transactional.

Review 35:Food was good. All major tours pickup/dropoff at the hotel. Staff was prompt and informative, when asked. Outdoor showers and a refreshing pool hit the spot.

Review 36:Rooms felt a little too "rustic;" could feel a little more finished.

Review 37:Good location near town, very attractive pools and outdoor facilities, very gracious and accommodating staff.

Review 38:One criticism is that the breakfast could have been better. Also, we had hired a car, but without it would be a hot (though not too long) walk into town.

Review 39:The place was just what we were looking for - really tranquil and relaxing with a lovely chill-out spot around the pool and outside the very nice room. the outside shower was also a nice touch. The staff were helpful and friendly and let us havea late check-out on the day we were leaving. I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Review 40:Access to the town. The street outside the hotel leading to town was not well lit at all at night. Wish hotel offered a shuttle service of some sort. Ants and spiders in the bathroom.

Review 41:Loved the rustic ambience of the property. We got upgraded to a suite with an outdoor shower and a private patio and enjoyed that very much.

Review 42:network was weak in the room, because we were far from the reception side. we can not evaluate the service quality because we didn't need it.

Review 43:if you think under the desert conditions, the hotel was very good. they prepare a breakfast pack for your early travelling. we didn't face with a trouble during our accomodation, eventhought some tourists were complaining with their hotels. if you are prepared well for the sightseing locations, you do not need the tours, rent a car in airport.but keep full your fuel before any travel.

Review 44:Prices in the restaurant are a little high for the region

Review 45:It's a very comfortable and safe hotel just outside of San Pedro de Atacama. A car is advisable, but walking into the village is absolutely doable (abt. 10 minutes) over a dirt road. Not lighted at night. A very helpful staff.

Review 46:1. Staff is incompetent and could use a class or two in customer service 2. Price was a bit steep, but was more shocking when they charged me $40 for having my girlfriend with me 3. No jacuzzi 4. Wifi was absolutely terrible. 5. No bottled water or chocolate upon arrival. 6. Location is a bit out of the way. 7. No bell hop service/ no car service 8. Unlit paths. They had light fixtures throughout the complex, but they went unused 9. Phone in room didn't work 10. Staff did not provide restaurant recommendations or tours. I would book a stay at NOI Casa Atacama the next time I visit. They have excellent customer service and amenities

Review 47:1. Design of hotel rooms 2. Pool and outdoor seating 3. Terrace

Review 48:Random juices at breakfast. Stick with good quality classics

Review 49:Bed was comfortable, dinner was good and it met the brief. Not the most expensive place to stay, nor the cheapest. Exceeded our expectations

Review 50:The hotel was not so far from downtown, but the street we had to walk on (like all streets in San Pedro) was unpaved and a lot of cars were passing all the time - so in other words, we ate dust. The WiFi was terrible and the room was full of flys - it was very annoying during the night.

Review 51:Room was very big, clean, the hotel was very beautiful and well decorated.

Review 52:It is not cheap, but it's the standard for San Pedro. Hostels are cheaper, but might not be as nice as this range of hotels (which all offer similar rates). Restaurant also quite pricey.

Review 53:Very beautiful space, like a little adobe village with individual cottages giving you a feel of authentic Atacama. Very clean and comfortable with modern facilities in a tradicional decoration. Nice breakfast. It's a bit far from the centre, which in my case was positive (I had a car) since it was quiet and the night sky was beautiful. If you don't have a car, you will have to walk a bit from the centre. Take a torch if you walk at night, light is very poor or unexistent, but I believe it's quite safe around there. Nice quality and amount of food at the restaurant and I could always find a vegetarian option for me.

Review 54:This place is delightful - large, low-rise adobe rooms, surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens just out of town. The staff are excellent and very helpful and the food (breakfast and dinner), consistently delicious, using lots of fresh salad and vegetable ingredients from their own garden. I loved the peace and calm of this place. Rooms are quite basic (no TV or fridge for example), but very quiet and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Review 55:WiFi didn't reach all rooms. At night road pretty dark, a bit dangerous for women traveling alone. Light overpriced as all accommodations in San Pedro.

Review 56:Very fancy hotel 8 min walking to downtown. Not far at all. With a very original architecture and also a nice swimming pool to chill down. Also a nice terrace! Clean and comfortable. Nice buffet breakfast as well. Very well heated for the winter season. I fairly recommend this hotel.

Review 57:Food on the menu was very good but instead of a Cesar salad/ pasta I would like to try more Atacama recipes:)

Review 58:Staff extremely helpful from reception to kitchen, very clean and beautiful rooms.

Review 59:The wifi wasn't so good in our room and as we had to walk a bit to the center of the city everyday we used to get a bit dirty from the roads!

Review 60:Very nice hotel, the staff were really kind and the room was big and comfortable! The hotel and room were a bit dark during the night but as I could see most part of the hotels of the city were also like that, which is great since it doesn't interfere with the most beautiful sky during the night!

Review 61:Locating the hotel wasn't overly obvious at first as the signage is camouflaged into the main wall (and we thought it was part of the hotel next door), but aside from that no issues at all. Great hotel.

Review 62:Loved the decor and atmosphere, great accomodations we felt like we were staying in (luxurious) bedouin huts! Staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was simple but the fresh fruit and scrambled eggs were delicious. The location is just set away from the main town which is great as there's nothing but silence at night. Great stay when in San Pedro, would highly recommend Altiplanico!

Review 63:No real negatives. It is approx 10min walk into main town. A dark road so take a torch but not really a problem.

Review 64:Beautiful hotel with v individual style. Staff were so friendly & helpful. Rooms were beautiful & spacious. Breakfasts delicious!!

Review 65:Dress warmly if you visit in the winter! (but the rooms are heated and there is plenty of hot water)

Review 66:The layout of the property is beautiful, and my room included a private outdoor sitting area, a huge bathroom, and a lovely private outdoor shower. The staff took wonderful care of me, and turned on my heat in the afternoon so I came home to a cozy haven. The pool area is very comfortable; I lay on a chaise lounge, wrapped in my sleeping bag, to enjoy the stars at night. Tea and coffee are available 24/7 in the pleasant lobby.

Review 67:the woman at the reception was ever annoyed!

Review 68:The architecture

Review 69:Only small details.

Review 70:Design and surroundings. Great pool. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 71:Excellent restaurant, comfortable room

Review 72:Too expensive. Noisy rooms. You can hear noise from the next room. Basic breakfast.

Review 73:Good location. Parking. Free wifi and good coverage

Review 74:Why doesn't Chile do decent coffee?

Review 75:Brilliant staff helped us with car hire traumas. Rooms, layout and friendly cat made the stay very enjoyable.

Review 76:No choice for diner

Review 77:Quiet, clean, not far down town. Typical architecture. Very nice garden and swimming pool.

Review 78:no bad experience, just a little limited with food choices if staying for a week

Review 79:location, staff, beautiful surroundings

Review 80:Interesting hotel, with nice features. Excellent rooms and layout with private terrace area. Helpful Friendly staff

Review 81:Not a bad experience but the room was not as good as expected or what I expected from the web page

Review 82:Staff service level was decent, some very good some indifferent.

Review 83:Good location, easy walk to town. Interesting design elements in hotel architecture

Review 84:One night, some noisy neighbors were disturbing

Review 85:Excellent staff

Review 86:The night staff, inattentive, , even rude at times

Review 87:The rooms are nice and neat, sparsely scattered trough nice parks and pool

Review 88:Location could have been better. 10-15 min walk to town. At night, bring a flashlight.

Review 89:Too far from town center

Review 90:excellent fascilities. Outsdanding place

Review 91:gas heating in rooms

Review 92:the rooms and the area

Review 93:The outdoor shower was amazing! Excellent service and a unique and super comfortable room.

Review 94:- Location (far from Caracoles street), it would be interesting to have free taxi; - Poor wifi

Review 95:- Great meals (however it is not cheap)

Review 96:Wifi unreliable in room

Review 97:Room, bed, ambience

Review 98:Friendly, competent and helpful staff, excellent restaurant, good rooms and bathrooms, free and secure parking, great pisco sours!

Review 99:The hotel facilities are very comfortable and inviting to rest and relax, at the same time it is very close to the town . Excellent personnel.

Review 100:Meals a bit expensive compared to local restaurants (but good food)

Review 101:Liked the rooms and free spaces of the hotel. Good breakfast

Review 102:wifi only in the central area no table to work on

Review 103:Spacious rooms, privacy within the complex, outdoor shower

Review 104:The staff are lovely but they seem to have received minimal training.

Review 105:The common areas and rooms are just perfect!

Review 106:Outdoor shower! Relaxing place to stay Great breakfast - hmmm quinoa bars!

Review 107:la ducha exterior es un acierto

Review 108:15 minutes (not 7 minutes as advertized) walk thru very dusty road to town center.

Review 109:the town

Review 110:Staff was very helpfull and kind, especially when i was ill during my holiday.

Review 111:The attention to the design features of the hotel was extraordinary -- it's a beautiful place.

Review 112:Wi-Fi was not always working

Review 113:Original decoration, each room different. Staff friendliness. Environmental music. Quality-price. Flexibility in booking. Support in finding services in San Pedro

Review 114:Reception is efficient & highly trained, but they should greet passengers with a SMILE, that would ADD to the experience. The food is great but extremely expensive. Most of the passengers had to share their dishes...thats absurd, dont you think?

Review 115:The hotel is beautiful, great location. Great place to relax and rest. Fantastic breakfast. Good wifi. I think its one of the best hotels in San Pedro, you wont regret booking it.

Review 116:I stay there too short.

Review 117:People,people. Location was phenomenal. Staff was externally helpful land always on time with any information or request. Breakfast was the same everyday however always fresh and healthy. Abundance of fresh drinking water and all sort of teas in the main lobby.

Review 118:The hotel is relatively far from the town and you certainly need a torch after dark That said its a 10 minute walk maybe and all tours and bus operators will drop you and pick you up there so it's not such a Big deal

Review 119:The staff were simply great Extremely helpful went out of thier way to assist with things such as arranging to check in on line and early breakfast if we were leaving early on a tour I also loved the look and feel of the adobe construction, excellent house keeping and room cleaning service

Review 120:Missing a bar in the pool area and the pool water is really cold

Review 121:Pool is amazing to relax and chill Room is great, specially the outdoor balcony and the outdoor shower Great taste on decoration, really tidy and comfortable areas Lovely amphitheater with fireplace to enjoy a tea and contemplate the stars in the sky

Review 122:a bit further up from the centre

Review 123:great hotel, very original and much better than the average hotels in San Pedro. wifi is high speed and staff very friendly definetly recommend it

Review 124:Limited and expensive food in dining room eg a relatively simple and small pizza costs $18 US Rooms too dark Rooms have dusty smell very bad for those with asthma Rooms too expensive for what is actually offerred

Review 125:Staff very helpful and hardworking Comfortable bed Nice well kept grounds

Review 126:At night we had dogs barking so loud it was hard to sleep one night. It is located prety far out of town. Tough to walk bak once it was dark. One clerk was not helpful and in fact was argumentative but the rest were great. My biggest complaint was with the info sent by Booking.com. It clearly states that we pay at the hotel. Not true. I made the reservation using my credit card and I expected a deposit to be taken from it. In fact the entire amount of the stay for both rooms was charged a feww weeks before our stay. I believe there was an option to pre-pay at a lower cost. Since my friends were paying separately we did not take that option. We took the option where we pay at the hotel and can cancel up to a few days before the stay. The Hotel claimed that Booking.com got it wrong. They placed all blame on your company.

Review 127:I liked that the rooms were individual studio-like. Mine had a little chiminea on the front porch. My friends had a nice little table and chairs out front. The pool was too cold for me but my friends did swim. During the day it was quiet.

Review 128:1700 CLP for a coffee in the bar.

Review 129:2 private showers - one of them outside (open air). Friendly assistance from the hotel staff to provide lunch pack and towels before tourist tours. Fair internet connection despite the hotel location. Free water available in the reception.

Review 130:The breakfast is very limited in choice. Juices are not even fresh juices. For this price we do expect good products.

Review 131:The staff is really helpfull and always ok for anything that is not in their routine.

Review 132:The dining menu could have been more varied.

Review 133:Great place to come back to after the heat and dust of San Pedro surrounds. Excellent room cleaning and friendly reception staff. Good dining room service. Very good security especially for cars.
